What's In My Inbox?????
What's a girl to do on a cold, cloudy day, while waiting for yet more snow? I couldn't think of a THING new to tell you about when I remembered that I had forgotten (funny sentence that) about my Gmail account and it was possible there were some missed Birthday wishes hanging about in there, and there just might be some cool attachments..
HA! Got it in one.
Time to play "What's in my Inbox"
You have probably seen this one, but I hadn't, Fiends meeting up in Ireland!
That's Marjorie on the left, and Louisa on the right. Unless it's the other way around. I am pretty sure that is Coraline in the middle. Did you guys blog this meeting?
Now for you fashionistas there, just LOOK what the cool kids are wearing down under (I will feel really silly if you have seen this one too!) From Sally, just thinking of my on my Birthday!
Some Freaky Venus art from Jess....Can we all say "AAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!"
And, uh, one I surely hadn't seen before, but it is clearly me and Hera, but when I was still doing red, and she was up doing concerts.....Gotta love it! From Miss Kitty, of course.
There you go. This has been another exciting Episode of "What's in my Inbox!" Stay tuned for next week when we play again!
(And uh, if you all send me weird things, I can have something to post....)
Love and Inbox,
Lorraine

Yay!
Now I have to find some weird things to send you...
Yay! Yes, you got us the right way round, and it is blogged . .
Yeah! Going to read!
And yes, that is a challenge...Mmmwhahahaha!!!!!!!
I think I should have made Venus's cheeks darker. They're too white. Ah well.
/pseudo-vector-art blog
Woo! Now we know whom to turn to when we need rescuing like damsels! :D
Manwife has just brought me a freshly warmed foot warmer for my feet, which have been like ice all afternoon. He is Ace.
Meh. One day I'm going to get a link right first time.
Man, I wish I had been there!!!!!!
Uh, what exactly IS the Bog Spike??? I mean, I love it, and embrace it, but what is it?
Jess, someone brings you feet warmers??? That's be love.
He's just trying to get me to get up and make dinner. I said I wasn't doing anything about dinner until my feet were warm. :D
I think the Spike is ART, or maybe just Sculpture. It's possibly deeply symbolic of stuff.
BTW, jess, love Freaky Venus art!
The shoes are just wrong, in that oh-so-right way. I would kill myself wearing them, though, because I am just that talented ;-)
And can I admit was that once I was done admiring you and Hera in the pictures, my eyes wandered a bit and I couldn't help but admire the view you must have had of her? (remember, my mind lives in the gutter *and* an I am an admirer of the lovely female form ;-)
Now to find something weird to send you....
Of course Spike is Art. We have Spoon here. Not quite as wonderful as Spike, I must say.
Ah, so that's the idea..Dinner...
Truly in the gutter! We approve. And Hera is one of the loveliest people, both to look at and to be with I have ever met!
And you should hear the women PLAY!
The shoes are great (and Q, we wish you'd been there, too!)
Loverly things in your email inbox, Ms. Fabulous! If I can't find something weird to send you, I can always make something weird. ;)
I'll bet the same can be said of the vast majority of Fiends.
CX
Oh I love the What's In My Inbox game! What lovely things you found there to share!
Was there a vet visit today?
Sally will there be an AFP dinner soon?
Marjorie and Louisa it seems like you had a fun adventure! Yay!
Congrats on being first Dan!
Lovely game...what shall i hide in your inbox---i'll have to dig around to unearth something worthy.
Hubby is off to the land of Oz tonight. He'll be in Sydney through next week and then Philip Island for the Superbike race the next weekend. If you see him, say hello ;-)
So i'm a single mom for the next two weeks...at least that's gotten easier as the boy's gotten older. Now it just sort of flies by really. We have a visit to my parents this weekend and Wondercon next weekend...wheeee!
A truly awesome post! Wonderful pictures.
Happy Kurt Cobain's birthday, everyone.
Nice pix
just browsing the new website and maybe I missed it but... I couldn't find a 'contact' page anywhere. That might be something to consider adding.
and OMG... those duck shoes.
KC's bday huh? hmmm the memories that are tied to that musician... wierd, man, wierd
Here in Philly, we have clothespin: 45 ft tall, 10 tons... across form City Hall. Some say it could be a reference to the city's dirty laundry...
Hello to all...missing time to hang out and comment...but thinking of fiends nonetheless.
hmmm, thinking of weird things and not coming up with anything :) you sound much better! yey! Jess, cool pic of venus, and sally, those shoes are priceless..
Well, that explains why my inbox has been quiet - new post.
Jess, that is a very cool picture.
We haven't heard anything from AFP or her people, so I'm kind of presuming not.
I like the spike, I want a smaller one in my back year - want to watch the pigeons land on it.
I'm bored. Everyone else is asleep, even though its the middle of the day. My eyes are a bit too bleary to read, although I have several books on the go. Nothing decent to watch on tv.
Distract me Fiends, before I start poking the animals, just for something to do.
::pokes head up, sticks out tongue::
blehehblehehblehehblehehblehedblehe
Just remember: you asked for it.
CX
ewww, a sticking out tongues game....I love them.
Right. Have washed dishes. Now what?
Tell us a story, Sally!
*waits patiently*
Once upon a time, there was a naughty poet who would not go to bed.
Next line?
Hmmm. A story.
Up in the sky, a fragment of grandma's treasured diary floated with the other ash from the fires.
Frantically, it asked each bit of ash it bumped into whether it was another fragment. None answered. Written on the fragment, in blue ink were the words "I am" on one side, and "whither" in black ink on the other side.
The fragment traveled up, and down on the breeze until finally, it was caught in a downwind and fluttered to earth.
By chance, the fragment landed in front of a young girl, whose on home had burnt down. She picked up the fragment, soothed it with gentle fingers and put it in between the leaves of her own diary, and part of grandma's story lived on.
The naughty poet hid under his bed with a torch, a pen and a notebook
(Sally, I liked your story about the diary. Full circles.)
Most nights, one of his parents came to check on him and make sure he was getting the sleep a young boy needs.
Luckily, the naughty poet was excellent at pretending to be asleep.
Unluckily for him, pretending to be asleep put him to sleep
But there would be no sleeping tonight even if he tried. Tonight was a special night.
Tonight there was going to be a Blue Moon, and he didn't want to miss a second of it
Curling up with his pen and notebook, he peeked out from under the blanket to stare at the moon. He stared and stared and stared until his eyes started to close.
Eh, I want to do another one!
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a shadow flash. Or maybe smudge, since it was a shadow.
There. More action! Less sleeping!
(Re-thinking, I was going to come on and brag how I cleaned all the cat boxes, played with all the cats, did the dishes and finished up e-mail AND started laundry)
And the Blue came into the room, softly, as Blue does, filled with dream.
I mean, flowed in with an electricity that seemed to light the night on fire.
Then he saw something amazing, the shape of something bat-like, but enormous blotted out much of the moon
And he knew then, that Gotham needed him....
(runs)
Ha! Q, you are bad. Our poor little poet.
And a smelly place it was.
You have no idea how bad, a friend called and wanted to go out, and I said, HA! Too late , point of no return has been reached. Ah she said, you are in your underwear.....
Nods. Once that bra is off, nothing is going to make me put the damn thing back on.
Except maybe a choccy bribe
back to the story....
and that was how Robin came to join forces with Batman
This reminds me....yesterday, my friend read a book to me over the phone. It was a story for her toddler about potty training.
Laughed all the way through and wished we'd had books about potty training.
And then the Leopard came with a green mousie, and dropped in into the tea offering, which is always placed on the floor of the temple.....Now.
Nathilie is reading me Day I traded my Dad for 2 fish in French. Do you think we are regressing?
And the leopards overseas cousin said "Can I have some of your mousie?"
Can't regress if we haven't gone beyond!
I must ask Narelle for the name of the book so you can all laugh...snd Nathalie can read it to us all in French
I googlecated...this is the book
3. On Your Potty!
When Bartholomew, an appealing little bear, wakes up, big bear George wants him to use the potty. The little bear refuses, saying, “Nah!” louder and louder until George shouts, “On Your Potty!” When Bartholomew sits on the potty, nothing happens, so George sends him out to play. While playing, Bartholomew is reminded of George’s words and gets on the potty just in time. George rewards him with a big hug in this engaging picture book by Virginia Miller. (Candlewick Press, 1998.ISBN: 0763606944)
Zut alors! What have I begun?!
...And the little poet rode the leopard all the way home, and got there just in time for tea.
Bat tea.
Which. Batman made.
Because he got there first.
In the Batmobile.
Erm.
"Bat tea? Are you a cannibal now?" Robin asked Batman
Bat tea is made from guano. FACT.
Jess....Sally....Come back.......
@&#%!!! How did I miss two posts????
I'm packing for Disneyland, so there's no way in #=&$ I can catch up tonight!!!
Busy busy busy!!!!
....ohhh Hi everyone.... Did you hear that?
Gee, I was referring to Gotham, not Spooky House.
"Gotham" means "goat home."
Really.
uh? I'm awake! I was watching a Birdchick video from Guatemala.
(I think Siren Song of the Brown-Backed Solitaire would be a good title for a trilogy of trashy birder-romance novels.)
...though now I'm off to bed, as I really can't stay awake. G'night!
Where o where has Lysandwr gone?
O where, o where can she be?
Everybody's gotten busy in the last week. At least, I hope it's busy and not sick.
Back! We were just finding the right size books to prop up the back of the fridge so it stops rolling backward all the time. Our floor in the kitchen is really slope-y.
In the process discovered that I have been hanging on to law text books that are 37 years old. Holy Bat shit. Admittedly, they were from the first year of my law degree and a few years old then, but it made me feel ancient.
Where's everybody gone? *pout*
venus is sleeping on my legs. hard to type. cannot disturb the bengal. she fed tonight.
This is good. ::nodding::
And what was the report on Dog?
he goes in on monday, but that hound is healed! hard to keep him down and he does his laughing face all the time.
Oh yes - how is Cabal? Stitches out?
I am about to distract myself with some Buffy.
Got my Stayed For the Quiche shirt today. Woop.
I think we did synchronized posting then Lorraine...hehe.
Glad Cabal is all laughing boy now. :) I'm sure he'll be happier still when Boss is home again.
DH is outside looking for Comet Lulin. Not clear enough to wake up kids. I'm seriously contemplating bed myself.
Snowing and blowing here. Still. My fault - washed the car this afternoon.
Glad there are other people in the world who understand that once the bra comes off, it's all over.
louisa and marjorie - great pic, and the spike is cool cuz it is tall, and can you imagine selling the idea of it? like the stainless steel kidney bean (not its name, can't remember) by Anish Kapoor in chicago - i laugh when i think of him describing the concept to the alderman and chicago mayer....and Lorraine, the spoon is famous and the cherry is great, i've not seen it but it is in all the textbooks-one of my favorites by oldenburg. i want to climb it.
i cant contribute to wonderful stories inthemaking. i am too tired to even really read the comments, so if i am totally out of place, pls. forgive. quiche- we are in for major snow (lol just typed snot, which is probably closer to how i feel) so are you buried now? stay warm, take care!
He will be happiest when Boss gets home! We got to Skype a bit tonight, and Cabal can never figure out where his voice is coming from and keeps running to the door....Very soon now.
Getting buried. Sigh. Where the hell is spring? Sorry. Slipped a bit. It's all too much. Displaced the Bengal and made popcorn and tea.
Darn winter.
Hey, Lo, if it makes you feel better, the weather channel says tomorrow will be three whole minutes longer!
aww. that's cute that cabal runs to the door when you skype. my mom used to hold the phone up to my dog rusty's ear and he would sit there and twitch his ear while wagging his tail.
wow life has been CRAZY for me. i'm behind a bit on the blog. hope all the fiends are doing well:)
Well, it will be warmer and not snow I am good with that.
I'm for bed, I am thinking..'Night!
Ooooh love the new game.
Something quite Fiendish happened to me today. While driving around this afternoon I had this random thought that someone should enter the first line of a story here, then people could take turns adding to the story.
Then I get on the computer just now and read this particular set of comments.
Dude.
I am for sleep as well. Long week. Long day. Hoping for a quieter weekend. Wishing all y'all wellness and sleeping in.
Okay, Na that is just plain spooky. Really.
hehe
Fun things in your in box!
That story is going... to where stories go when they are getting pesky. It's gone feral, I think.
And Cabal doing happy face! Oh joy.
Blue thoughts (the other kind) must be hampering my reading ability to day...
I have been curled up with cat...sunshine....Tramadol..and the occasional glass of wine. For some reason, the allergy medicine made my cramps (yes, I've managed to synch up as well...how lovely)MUCH WORSE...so stopped taking it.
Anyway.
I read:
What's in My Box???
By Lorraine.
No comment...... :) But I did like the answers...
Oh, and thanks for missing me, Ariandalen!
A girl gets busy and misses ENTIRE POSTS. This work thing has got to go.
I took last night OFF from all the things I need to do. Spent it on the couch with the cat, and read Nation, by Sir PTerry. The whole thing, one sitting. Yay!
Phiala What did you think of Nation? I read it shortly after it was published, and can't decide what I think. It's good, mind, and has that fine satirical edge of Sir Pterry's. But it leaves me a bit...unsettled, somehow.
Will have to catch up on comments later, ...off to do myriad things. Want to build a fire and huddle around it. Will do costumes instead.
Dabbler, Pratchett even admits that it's an angry book. He wrote it after his Alzheimer's diagnosis, and it shows.
Good, yes, but not easy.
I caught up with the comments! Yay! I'm sitting in an airport, waiting to be taken to The Mouse.
CC companies are not our friends. I avoid them
whenever possible.
The story that was evolving over the comments was so much fun. And creative. I love creative.
I am missing my dog. We dropped her off at a relatives last night. How can she have squirmed so completely into my heart?
I'm glad Cabel is feeling so frisky. It means he's better, right?
How about the Bengals? Is Magic getting braver? And is Mim recovered from her "unfortunate ailment"?
I need some animal distraction so I don't obsess about Olivia.
Ticia, if you need distracting, I've just posted me some more blog Dublin report (part 4) this has recodings of bits of the chapters reading / ukelele playing. .
Aren't you going to Disneyland, Ticia? Cool. Haunted Mansion!
Mim is fine. Magic came up on the futon with me last night! And did a little playing, but then got nervous about it and peed on my lamp after I left, they give, they take.
I am off to work shortly, then some riding, then some working. All good plans. I got some pics last night of Bengals and the New Bug Hand Glove, so we will have those tonight.
(The excitement is palatable)
(Yes, I know that is the one that means you can eat it, but I can't think of the other...)
The story did go a little feral, didn't it?
Hey Lys, sympathies, same place this week, who knew you could sync over the internet, tho I suppose we catch colds that way..
I am not making any progress with my Pratchett reading at ALL. Sadly.
Excellent to hear Magic is playing (hope he stops peeing on the lamp, tho, cat pee & electricity doesn't sound like a good mix!)
I don't see why the excitement shouldn't be palatable as well as palpable..
Have fun riding.
And Oooh, now bengal pics to look forward too.
TEA BREAK!!
Sorry, didn't that come out a little... desperate? My do-to list is getting noticeably NOT shorter, needing stretchy-time.
Have fun riding, Q. Off to read Marj's post....
Mmm... Tea. Just made chai. It is insufferably sweet.
Excuse me, does anyone know HOW snow is measured??????????
My car was BURIED under a FOOT of "1-3 inches"
Snow is measured the way stretchy time should be.
AH, you may be right, Mistress. Well, all workouts are good.
I let Cabal off leash to go to the mailbox and back, as there was little ice and much new snow. HAPPY dog!!!!!!
He will get a clean bill of health on Monday, I am sure of it. He is so ready!
I seem to have caught the stiff neck thing. Odd how internest contagion works.
I think Dan has tricked us and created the opposite of stretchy time -- because I am finding it really hard to believe that 6 weeks have already passed since Cabal's surgery!
Hello all. I am trying to get motivated to go out in the snow. You know the scene from Fargo when William H Macy's character is scraping ice and starts violently attacking his car window? Picture me doing that in about 1/2 and hour.
TTFN
Jess, love the painting!
Q, great picture of you and Hera.
Marjorie, thanks for posting the events we all wish we could attend. :)
Helloooo Fiends. (Fiends does include Q, yes?)
Sally - yes, spooky moment, little shivers and all.
Having a lazy Saturday more or less. Sun shining! Need to buy something for the monstress, who turns 4 this week.
Last night was a Winter Festival at the monster's school. Dancing, potluck, hay rides, hot chocolate, cross country skiing. Much fun. The monster chopped wood for an hour, at the fire pits. The monstress insisted that the draft horses pulling the hayride cart should be called ponies. :) You horse experts 'round here - she's really fascinated with horses, at such an early age. Something to encourage, but how?
I don't think 4 is too young for riding lessons, if you can find a stable nearby which is used to small children. . .
I have been informed by my reliable source that either there's a box with markings at the weather service office for just such measurements, or they just stick a ruler in it.
I am tempted to make an observation about men and measuring (most of the weather service office people are male) but I will restrain myself.
The Stillwater CoC sent us a package on things to do while we're there. Husbeast has reiterated that he is going to *so* need a break by then, so we are still full steam ahead for our visit.
Very impressed by story, even if I would have been awake I probably would have just smiled and read, I'm not very creative when it comes to writing and storytelling. Give me some yarn, I'll show you some creativity ;-)
Marjorie, thanks so much for sharing your blog posts!
Thanks, Marjorie! I'll look into it for a summer activity. :)
DG & Gayke, thank you - I've been enjoying writing it up, too (except the bits where I have to try to persaude Blogger / YouTube to upload the videos - I've come to the conclusion that neither of them likes me. . .)
OOOOH 100Th
101th!! :)
Actually I had just been checking what the lack of email was all about. But no new post. Just the weekend eating up the fiends...
102nd!!
Just popping in to say hello while Hub-man is off the computer. We've spent the afternoon downloading mods for Oblivion.
Is that the sort of thing I should be admitting publicly?
And does it make us nerds?
I'm thinking it can't be that bad, because Sir Terence of Pratchett plays it, too. He does! It's true! He said so.
Too late! We'll have to leave these questions unanswered for now. Time to INSTALL.
Carry on.
I don't need to install anything related to Oblivion. It is rather efficiently installing itself in my mind, eradicating files. so much so that I am surprised that TP plays it too. Then again, that man is all about irony.
i loved the blog up about the IRISH Reading/Singing/Signing. time to return to the land of (half) my ancestors. Haven't been to Ireland since 1996.
am a bit BEHIND on my own blogging, Quiche,
life is busy out here in CA>
but you know that.
i will dig more archive photos for you.
xo
Kitty did a blog on DONUTS tho over at furrytiger.com. Voodoo Donuts win hands down.
There will be a new post, tonight. I forgot my camera, and so ought to be home, perhaps. I do have some comments about leather tho, so maybe a horse post isn't a BAD idea.....
I don't know about Oblivion , except in my mind, generally happens when someone, generally Boss asks a question Where is....
It IS slow tho, Fiends have gone all weekendy...
How long are you up Nathilie?
Sleepy. If I go to bed now will there be lots of exciting comments and things by the time I get up again?
Heck, there will be an exciting new POST with TONS of comments when you wake up in the morning!!!!!!!
'Night Europe.........
'Night Q. 'Night fiends.
Morning Fiends.
Back in a minute - the toast just popped up
If you want to show support or just feel like a fly on the wall, today has been declared a National Day Of Mourning here, for the bushfire victims.
A webcast of the service is available here
http://tinyurl.com/d8hrqh.
Starts in 10 minutes.
Princess Anne is here (woot woot)
Yes. Sorry to be so absent. It is nice to have a weekendy weekend for a change. :) Oh - which Q must know as well as anyone else 'round here.
I am trying to catch up with Marjorie's postings, just got through 1 and 2 so far.
Sally, it's moving to hear of a Day of Mourning.
I love it that someone came on and posted that their toast was done.
New post when I get home from work. ALL the Bengals with Bug Glove.
Today I got to wear Half Chaps, very cool. Like zip up leather corsets for your calves, only not so tight. Makes posting easier.
Sally, we will be there!
Well, those of us here. Who seem to be me. Teach me to have a down week. I must lure them back now.
Oh Fods, I can't believe this. The ceremony has just started and I am bawling already. Its the music of course - minor keys do that to me. No, it is the sadness.
Ooo...(tip of hat for day of mourning....)
Um, I meant to tell you before, Lorraine, as I'd already mentioned it to Gayle...
But her nephew who is in Iraq was caught in my rapid fire zeal to send the link for your show to all and sundry I thought might enjoy it...
Evidently he caught at least some of the show, and thought it was just great.
So now you can say your web show was enjoyed on four continents. NOT eveyone can say that!
tiptoes back into room hugs Sally creeps back out again, sniffling....
The anthem was just beautiful, Sally.....sigh....stirring
Thanks Lys, hugs back.
I'm glad you're watching with me.
Now that I've got the stream open, I just have to.....Aunty Joy (sp?) is compelling. And Fod knows my birthhome has similar scars....
Yes, Aunty Joy is a wonderful woman, and really nice to meet.
Her country was under attack from the fires - they could have lost so much, nad luckily didn't.
Very cool Lys. Iraq! Four continents. Why have I no Fiends in Antarctica or Asia????
I cannot go to this Url, will look elsewhere, has to be streaming places...
You can listen here Q http://www.abc.net.au/melbourne/
I'll try to find another visual for you
Q--try cut and paste of the URL making sure you don't have that period at the end. That was messing me up until I realized I had caught it by accident.
Sally--that is the sort of poetry to occasion which Poets Laureate should produce. Both pieces. Because they are obviously from truth and the heart, not manufactured.
Q See if you van get the link to open from here http://www.premier.vic.gov.au/pages/together-for-victoria.html
Yes, the one the Premier read out was brilliant
o dear....not didgeridoo...and sad solemn procession...more tears now.
My god, the music is tearing a hole in my heart.
Those children are from one of the schools that was burnt down
((hugs)) Sally. I'm zipping in and out, checking comments while standing in line. But I'm observing a moment of silence to honor those lost in the fires and their survivors. How wonderful that your country is making this a unifying experience and acknowledging lives lost and the grief that comes from that. ((hugs))

we turn to such effective permutations of sound...
when words just cannot, will not, do.
Thanks Ticia
What music Lys -breathtaking.
Elizabeth II is Queen of Australia? Still? I'm so confused.. but that's not important right now.
Good that a close member of the Royal family is there, then.
Yup, we're not a Republic yet. Been trying for years *grin*
Is Ticia in line for Disneyland, or Coraline 3D.
I've gotten confused. And am too testy, between internal and external sadness, to go back and reread enough comments to figure it out....
Now this man, you'll all like. Our Governor is an amazing scientist. An immigrant as a child. Lovely, genuine person too
Sally--why didn't Princess Anne do a flower to the wreath? Because she's not actually Australian? Or is it only Victorians who are adding them? I've had to look at other items a few times, so didn't notice if anyone else had skipped that step......
She did put one in Lys, she was with Quentin Bryce, the Governor General (who is also an amazing woman)
I have a bit of a soft spot for Princess Anne, she's a bit of a maverick.
"...that green life will return to our scorched earth..."
Watching some now, too, while I can.
Very well written, and very well spoken. I am learning much about your present leadership, Sally!
I have to tell you, it means SO MUCH that you are watching this with me Fiends.
I sense a hymn coming on....
Oh, I'm a big fan of hers, Sally. Have been for years. The Horse Princess (for her equestrian skills, of course...)
This awful time has really brought out a lot of aspects of our leaders, their humanity especially.
I could do without Dennis Hart - don't like him one bit
Sally - I thought nowadays one just has to ask to be a Republic. What Canada did, as I hear it told here. ;)
{{{Sally}}}
Tennis Club? huh... well, I heard competition was important to you Aussies, S.....
Now, he's redeemed himself. Any man of his age who can say "I love you" in public with a straight face and sound like he means it? Well done.
Yes, the horse thing was what started it for me as a kid.
Isn't this use of bells amazing?
Oh, this lady is incredible. Her shire was the worst hit and she has been a tower of physical and emotional strength
Its got to be voted on Na, and a majority agree in Referendum. We didn't quite make it last time, because of the way the proposal was worded.
I will have to sign off at about 6 pm my time but will stretch it as long as possible.
And of course we want to be here for you, Sally! Whether you ask, or not (and I notice that you didn't, really, but just assumed that you'd like company anyway. So there...)
more hugs....
Thanks Lys. Your support has me in tears of gratitude.
The bells are fascinating.
To me, the use of bells is a very Buddhist thing, and i'm really happy to see them being utilised
"...we could quell these fires with tears..."
Oh wow.
I adore our Police Commissioner.
She has been on the ground almost 24/7. She is almost a role model/hero of mine.
traces of irony...
This tune has come to be associated with overcoming pain. Glad most people don't know the original lyrics..
Still an astonishingly powerful work of music.
Very apt to sing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. he was here, and donated 200 thousand dollars to the appeal straight away
Just tuned in Sally.
:hugs:
Thanks for sharing. What a good thing for the country to do to heal together.
Really crying again now. Thanks Aleta
God you lot mean so much to me
hugs to all
Oh...well...
They got me again with the stills, well coordinated to the music.
Sam! sigh. And the lone green tree, surrounded by absolute desolation.
sniffling some more....cat trying to lick tears. He's a love, and wants to know why I'm crying. He was already trying to be my warm bottle on the unhappy abdomen and points south....
Isn't it fantastic to hear them talk about "Faith Communities" and to see all these representatives of different faiths up there together. It makes my heart sing and gives me hope.
Love that Cohen song.
And this interfaith representation.
I'm crying, too, Sally, just contemplating it all.
ah, Sally, thanks for mentioning that. I *do* think it is an amazing work, and in fact prefer most his original words.
I didn't know he went to Australia and donated.
am learning SO much more about your country. What an incredible broadcast to the world, such a sharing.
I am really impressed that this is truly "inter faith".
I have to change and meet my friend; if I could reach her, I'd tell her of the delay....but no success.
SO. I will leave the feed on as long as am still in the house, but probably won't be commenting anymore.
HUGE HUGS and warmth to you, Sally. And thank you for this opportunity.
Tissues all around to my fellow Fiends.
Blessed Be....
Gee, I am emotionally exhausted now. This has truly been cathartic for me and I thank you for sharing it with me.
xxoo to all
Well, you sucked me in, too.
I know that song, and I sang along, even though I aren't.
Today, I am.
Love you, Sal...
Australian, that is.
Back atcha Siri.
Isn't this amazing. The glorious music.
Sally who is singing this "Touch" song?
You remind us next February 7th, Sally, so we can be there for you, again.
What an amazingly powerful event.
The koala seems to have become a bit of a symbol of survival of the fires, and in this spirit I share a photo of one of my childhood toys, chewed on by dogs, a bit battered and falling apart but still loved.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/10199143@N03/3299109998/
I didn't recognise the guy Aleta -I guess he is form one of the young groups? Lord, I sound ancient saying that!
Love the Koala, Sally. My dinner is done - I'd best go eat it. I'll be back....
The Velveteen Koala! It IS real!!
Okay, one last post before I'm out the door. oh, that music...and like Siri, I was singing along as well....one of those "at this moment, we are all Australians" things. I know firefighters came from all over the world, anyway... :)
hugs and love, Sally, to you and ALL of your country.
this time for sure....
:-) I was thinking I'd most likely know him if I were younger.
Thanks so much for inviting us in Sally. I missed much of it but was very touched by the part I was able to see.
:hugs:
Sally, I have one very much like that, minus the dog chewing, that my father bought for me on a business trip to Australia about 30 years ago. Will have to go see if I can find it here...
I think I missed most of it, you would not think there would be quite so much work going on on a Sat night, but there you have it. Can't wait to read more...
I still want to go home and to Bug Glove pics for you tonight, but it is going to be a bit before I can get back there, so patience, greedy fiends...
And if it gets too late, you will have nice things to wake to.
Tomorrow morning I take the certification exam and then my 80 hour week of cramming will finally be at an end.
And three to six weeks later they'll tell me if I passed.
And THEN, assuming I passed, I still have to submit documentation and references proving that I deserve to be certified -- passing the exam isn't enough, it's just step one.
Yeesh.
Think happy thoughts for me tomorrow!
ok; what's up? it's been so quiet in my inbox i figured Fab was still resting; my gmail reader didnt't show me any new posts! And not only have I missed two; but this one is at 178 comments!!! Love the shot of you & Hera; the torquoise is outstanding on you both! Venus is certainaly awwwwwww and those shoes are just... wrong! Alas; I have no weird things to send but can't wait to see what all our talented feinds come up with. Meantime; I'm off to Gmail reader to curse them and shake my fist!
Dan, I will think happy thoughts for you, as I think I am on your side in the Battle for World Domination, but should we be at all worried about WHAT you are certified in?
You don't have to tell us WHAT, just if we should , uh, worry.
It has been quiet tonight since everyone watched Australia Stacy.
I really want to do a new post still, just waiting for Not SO Small Girl the Amazing Maddy to call for her ride for her and her friends, then I shall take them where ever it is they go next, and THEN go shoot Bengals and Bug Glove...
http://fabulouslorraine.com/blog/ not only that! but every time i put this address into my reader subscription; it loads it as 'bloglines/news' which has nothing to do with feinds at all. WTF?
Sorry it is not working for you Stacy.
I get the notices in gmail (via ticky box) and I use the url as a "feed" on my iGoogle page but don't use Google reader.
Ah nothing like being the taxi for 14 year olds.
Asking Dr Wicked......He knows All.
Must ask him about contact info too....
Too true, I am getting tired tho, I really rode today. I am getting pretty good at this now, I can relax, and today I learned breathe while I rode, which improves thing immensely, as one might suspect.
And to change diagonals at a trot.
Which is fancy for if you circle around and change directions, you have to sit a beat, so you are on the right one.
Good Luck with the exam Dan.
Just watched Dollhouse 1.02 as something completely different. I'm hooked.
Stacy, I just have the blog live bookmarked and do the ticky box thing for the comments too.
Looking forward to the new post Lorraine.
Still waiting upon teenagers, no bad thing, ought to be soon.
Then I just have to shoot the Bengals.
MAgic peed on my lamp last night. He had got on the bed with me for the first time and I guess it freaked him out. Or maybe he just doesn't like his lamp, tho it makes the light in the room nicer.
Good thoughts for the test Dan.
Please do not shoot the Bengals. You can always buy a new lamp.
(hee)
Well, I can get new Bengals too, apparently there is no lack. I will get the kinder gentler version who do not pee.
I can see the headlines now.
Won't they explode if they don't pee?
Dan - Luck. No exploding cats.
Yes, alert the media.......
WHEN does this movie END?????? If they are hanging a Caribu......
Well, I guess if I were 14 I would be. I'll give them 5 more minutes then leave...I mean to get them, not LEAVE them.
Not in my fantasy, Siri.
Right. Searching for teens.
Good luck finding teens. Like most nocturnal animals, they are very good at hiding from adults
Sal, I'm so sorry I missed this. Was driving for a number of hours today (there and back again) and just got home. I hope that this day was a way to start the healing. *hugs* to you
(now schlepping back to my corner)
Grace, I think it will start a lot of healing. It gave me a chance to really cry, and get out some of what I'd been holding in....remnants of worry about my Mum, and Dad and Glad who were all close to being threatened at times. Sometimes I don't realise how much these things affect me.
Hope the teens are found! Night for now fiends.
Aleta and others who saw it...the young guy who sang Touch
http://www.michaelpaynter.com/
I've noticed, Sally, that in times of crisis, you have to hold everything together, so you don't become part of the problem. What a blessing to have an event like this to help everyone mourn in a safe place.
More hugs and restful thoughts. I'm off to watch Dr. Who, and then to bed.
Night, Fiendom.
But, before I go, should we be concerned that we've not heard from the Teen Fetcher for a while? Scary things, Teen Girls....
Hopefully, Ms. Fabulous, you have found said teens and not strangled them. ;)
Sorry I missed the memorial, Sally. I have a little stuffed toy Scottish terrier that my parents brought back from a trip they won to Europe in 1965. The things we keep. :)
Lys, of course you were missed.
Ms. Fabulous, you do have a Fiend in Asia. Starshadow is in the Philippines. Don't know if she caught any of the show, but from reading her blog, she's in Asia.
Good luck, Dan! Not that I have any doubts you'll pass the test. :)
