First Day in the Garden and Ten New Friends.....
Since tomorrow is forcast with Winter Storm Watches and 2-3 inches of SNOW, I thought I would get in one small day of Spring Gardening. Hmmph. This year, I asked WoodsmanHans to make the garden a little bigger, which he did. I told Boss about it and he asked what I would grow with more room. "More." I told him, thinking, now it will go up to eleven.
The first thing you have to do after ordering your seeds from Tomato Bobs, is to make little Flags for your plants. If you don't, if you think you will remember, you will regret it, and play a sad game called "Garden Surprise". Remember, little seedlings look very alike. Here's NBB (Non-Birding Bill, the Birdchicks Husband) patiently making the little Flags, while I put a seed and little Flag in each little Peat Pot.
Place them by a window, and not yet in your little Greenhouse you have bought special for this year, if it is going to SNOW some more, despite it being APRIL (nearly) Put them by your Lemon and Lime tress, which also live indoors most of the year if you live in the Land of Ice Age, for an exotic effect.
Place the rest of your tray on top of the bookcase after you clean it off. (This will take some time.)
Since that is pretty much all I can do garden-wise for the moment, I thought I might stop and get some Fishes for the Coffee Table Fish Tank. It's been empty since Fish died (The last of the original five) and tho it tends to get dirty with Actual Fish, well, could be hours of fun. Here is Venus playing a game I like to call "This can only end badly"
No need to worry, Little Fishies. Only two of the five Leopards living here have access. Nothing to worry about, swim, be happy! (Note: No, they can't get them. I am funny. Not evil.)
So ends a quiet evening, after the first day of gardening, here at the Spooky House. We have ten new Friends for Venus and Mim, who seem, as far as I can tell, to be swimming happily in their new home. Wait. The fish are swimming happily. Not Venus and Mim.
Yet.
Love, Little Flags and Fishies,
Lorraine

Bengals + goldfish = hours of fun. Not that I would know >_>
I've never had the patience to plant things from seeds, though garden surprise sounds kind of fun.
Glad you enjoyed your spring-ish day!
Bill got to make the flags?
awwwww......that's the best part! :P
Much admiration that you are starting from seed...with lots of little peat pots. We used them one year, great little things.
I want fish again so badly, alas we have no room for even a little tank. Tysie used to love it when we had fish...the fish would come to say hello to her at the end of the tank. I'm sure the dogs would be fascinated by them too. Will the ten fishies get names?
Yes...the leetle flags. Silly moi, figured that w/only a few herbs in a lovely planter it would be easy to remember what's what. Plus....hey, I'd recognize them, right?!!
uh huh. SO....there I was, thinning the parsley sprouts. Hated to waste them (and there *were* quite a few) so rinsed them and put on sandwich.
Mouth then informed me I had a lovely crop of cilantro growing up.
Still haven't found the parsley yet.
:)
(btw, for those that haven't exp this....sprouts are flavor of plant exceeding concentrated. I *do* love cilantro.....but this was a PUNGENT sandwich. :))
also...
Fish good.
Bengals good.
Fish in tanks w/Bengals outside, bestest!! :) (do like the pics, ever so much....)
Someday when I don't live in a tiny apartment, I'm gonna have a garden. Bill was so nice to do all that labelling for you.:)
So have Venus and Mim been trying to chase the fish through the glass top yet?
I so don't have the patience for seed planting. I buy plants that are a few inches tall from the farmers market...much lazier i know.
I also have a very small garden and want more instant gratification!
Great pictures of the bengal-fish alliance ;-)
oooh garden i have the thumb of death, so i have given up on gardens. my plan is to make friends with some gardeny person when our society degrades.
congrats beez:) new homes are awesome.
Hmmm...Venus and Mim don't look exactly happy that they can't get to the fish. I suppose it's a very good thing that the glass on top is far too heavy for them to move. Not that they won't try. ;)
Now it's bedtime for me.
Nood gight!
I really like salsa, but only right from the garden, so we have LOTS of tomatos and hot peppers. Also the Birdchick gets NUTS for Friend Green Tomatoes. And we can them too, and have them all year.
It takes a lot of patience, but it is worth it.
Lys, SEE? Yup. That's what happens...
Bengals been doing lots of fish table walking!
Fish will have names , right now, I am calling them "Fishies" sort of collectively.
I need some sleep, very tired here at this end....'Night.
Goldfish and Bengals.
Mean feline entertainment
and sushi for two.
Alright... I'm obviously delirious. Must go to sleep. Loved the pics I am so happy to live vicariously through your garden. Nighty-night fiends.
Ah, peat pots and seeds. Boy and I did this last weekend. He's been so eager to see something GROW! We carefully labeled the sides of the container holding the peat pots (because we didn't think of making flags for each bit of peat).
Alas, the daily ritual of checking to see what has germinated took a dark turn this morning. Many li'l sprouts. One excited boy. A giant SPLAT!
And now we have a carefully labeled container holding many mislabeled, and mashed, peat pots. We're not even sure what will survive.
Garden Surprise it is!
In fact the girls gook a little disgruntled.
Glad that you are started on the gardening and that Bill was commandeered into flagging patrol.
Tysie and her fish I had to dig out and scan the photo of Tysie and the fish. I loved watching the fish come over to greet her whenever she stood there (or maybe they were taunting her and saying "you can't get us"
i love the visual of garden surprise :)
fresh salsa is amazing. my trick is minces carrot in the salsa.
And, of course...
Good Morning!
Quiche, so glad yo see you are back in the land of the living - I worried about you over the weekend when i didn't know what was going on!
Beez, congrats of the house. Hope the inspection and move all go smoothly. My housemoving tip - get the electrics checked. Apparaently some people think that 2 bare wires shoved in to a wall socket is a good iea. (I really don't get this. I mean, I have negative DIY skills but even I can wire a plug...)
Siri, where did you book for the weekend itself? (Or any other fiends) I haven't booked a hotel yet. I should probably do that, right?
Any sugegstions? As I arrive on the Wednesday evenign, do you think I'd be better staying in the city rather than out at Stillwater for Wed & Thurs - I'm not clear how far out it is..
Also I think I need to work out where I am going to be for the first night in order to fill in the wierd new online visa waiver thingy so they let me in the country.
I am not goigto look at the airline sites to see if the tickets are lots cheaper now, as it will only make me depressed.
Seeing all the seedlings inspires me. I think it's time to dig out some seeds and plant my tubs. The afte the slugs et my seedlings I will go and buy young plants from the garden centre and try them...
Did lots moer tidying and sorting this weekend - found a bag full of letters and was re-reading some of them (and throwing out the ones from people whose names I no longer recognise...) Found lots of letters from my Grandmother, which made me cry a little - it's almost exactly5 years since she died, and I just wish that there was a way I could carry on writing to her, and getting letters back.
Hello Lorraine,
Now that you're somewhat back, I'll ping you directly.
During the flood of tweets for the 100K followers contest, someone referred to @cabalhimself. I looked, and there was no such account on twitter. Assuming that someone could grab this name and create a spam site or something, I created an account with that name, and made one post that was relevant, but I've left it since then. (I used my work e-mail account.)
http://twitter.com/cabalhimself/
If you or Boss (or someone else) would like to use it, please let me know, and I'll hand it off to you.
Sincerely,
Craig Steffen

Hey Beez - CONGRATS! hope all goes well with your new home! lorraine, garden looks like it is off to a great start - nice of bill to do the labels. venus and mim will love watching the fishes, and how nice to set the tank back up. hope everyone has a pleasant monday, off to work i go!
We had a brief day of beautiful Spring weather yesterday, after days of rain, so I went out and planted seven fruit trees and a willow. The ground in my yard is usually rock-hard from about eight inches down -- largely because it's all rocks down there -- but the rain softened things up nicely. Yay for easy landscaping!
Back from all the travels - yay! Will never catch up on the interwebs thingies.
Or anything else either, but at least I get to stay at home for a week or two.
Contemplating a trip to Las Vegas in May for work...
Phiala is our Woman on the Go.
Yay toms! Tomato Bob's looks fab-- I'm-a bookmarking that. What sorts have you planted?
I love this time of year for gardening-- you clear out the dead stuff and then just watch the shoots come up. :) Cleaned up the rest of my yard over the weekend, and soon I'll be spreading mulch like a Mulching Thing. Very exciting.
That coffee table is the coolest thing ever. Hurrah feesh! :D
This is the best time of year for gardening, because right now I can sustain the delusion that I'll be able to get everything cleaned up, and will be able to keep on top of it this year.
My delusion will be completely shattered in 2-3 weeks, when everything starts growing for real.
Back to work today, for real. I have an RFP to respond to this week, but first I have to get through a mountain of immigration paperwork for one of my employees.
Good /gods/ it's difficult to come to work in this country.
Morning all!
Hi Craig, welcome, and thank you! Let me ponder on that one. Cabal might be too busy to Tweet on his own, still, intriguing idea...
Waking up, doing chores, planning day, getting to e-mail,
Tomato Bobs is great. Get the Heirloom Pack, the Round the world pack and anything that looks odd..
My yard needs all that clearing out stuff too. Can you say "WoodsmanHans?" Ok, call me a Princess, I have no time. I want to do the planting and planning and such. Dan way to plant TREES! I need a couple more. I would like it if Yard had even less lawn than it does, Garden everywhere!!!!!!

I'm afraid of snow coming from the Midwest to the East. Weather does that sometimes - flies cross-country. You'd better keep your snow to yourself!
Looks like you're due for rain and mid-50s temps, Emily. No snow in your immediate future, as far as I can tell.
Yes. Yes I do look up these things. :D
It does get quiet around here when everyone's on Twitter, doesn't it? Hello...ello...lo...lo...lo
Beez--my tip on house buying is: do NOT look at the final number on your papers when you sign. Yep.
That awful final number, indicating just how much that hummer is going to cost you over your 30-year mortgage payoff is mind-bogglingly big and will make you fall off your chair. The last house I sold, I sat across from these (terribly young) first-time home buyers, and they signed and signed and signed and finally their lawyer pointed at THAT PAGE and said, "And in full disclosure, that is how much it will cost over the course of the mortgage payoff." And everyone in the room (me, my lawyer, the real estate agent, their lawyer, the mortgage officer, the title representative) yelped in chorus, "Don't look at that number!" The buyers were quite shocked at our seemingly-choreographed outburst, then glanced at the number very cautiously, turned white and agreed that not looking at it was best.
So, OK. You have to look at it before you sign, but be careful!
:)
Actually... I was on FB, trying to solve the mystery of the missing update. Weird.
Also: cooking dinner.
And: Writing Fibs.
I'm heading off to the post office to mail saturday's marriage license...they're not legal yet! Can't forget that important bit!
Would love to be chatting with Fiends...
Chantrelle, did you just feel the earthquake?
-Adri, buried in paperwork
Nathalie, fibbing is very naughty. Tut tut.
Earthquake?
Not as much naughty as tricky.
Especially if you are going for iambic Fibs in English and you are not a native speaker...
Nope, didn't feel a thing, just heard about it on the radio
::breathes Wild Garlic Pesto breath::
Now that'll sort out any potential germs!! Damn strong and damn yummy!!
Iambic English Fibs sound like a delicacy one eats gingerly with ones fingers to cleanse the palate in between courses.
Our clocks changed this weekend and I am loving the light in the evenings - it was sunny when I left the shop earlier! I feel so energised after a cycle & run by the sea, I can completely get why plants want to put out green shoots at this time of year. My spinach seedlings started popping up during the week, and what I think is self-seeded coriander/cilantro in the greenhouse. Plus fresh greens on the beets that over-wintered, and new leaves on the rocket/arugula. And the catnip is growing HUGE, happy stoned kitties :) Why yes, I am filled with the joys of Spring!
Managed to stay off the computer long enough to go grocery shopping and make some phone calls.
Got another call for a wedding the day before we're planning on leaving for Fiendom Come...hopefully i get it then i'll have a little extra spending money ;-)
I googled the guy and he's in a local band, we should get along!
Adri - if you want Garden Surprise just put your kitchen scraps in a compost pile. Then you can play "is it summer squash, or watermelon, or pumpkins...?" for a few months the next year. I think I have some monster hollyhocks coming up in mine. Or zucchini.
Never been to Scarborough Faire. Didn't know if all the anachronisms would bother me. I know, it's all dress-up, but the turkey legs just don't seem right.
Compost surprise gave us the best pumpkin one year!
As we head into the colder months, your talk of spring and budding growth is making me feel...YAH...stinking hot summer is over.
I was not twittering - I was trying to sleep, but Tysie has had other ideas all night.
Lorraine, Cabal could Twitter cool things, from dog perspective...I'd follow him.
I'm not twittering either, I'm working.
And FYI, I do not have time to twitter my bosses dog. A blog every so often from the Bengal point of view is all I can manage...(tho it would be funny.)
Actually, I am about to go to twitter, for the next several hours...Sifting, listing...
good luck with that mammoth task of choosing the best.
A tale of the oddness of the internet and differential memory.
I got a Facebook message this weekend from a highschool classmate wondering if I were the person from his class (likely, as I have an unusual name), and adding that he recognized my photo and "would never forget that face".
I replied that yes I was his classmate, and asked whether "never forgetting that face" was a good or a bad thing. With smiley, though it was an honest question as I wasn't sure why he would remember me so clearly.
I got a reply back from him claiming that I should know it was a good thing, because I was his first real girlfriend, and the best one.
Um.
Since I have no recollection of actually dating this man, I am a bit perplexed. How odd that our memories are completely divergent on this. I remember him (very small high school class), but we didn't participate in the same activities or anything.
I suppose it's good that he thinks highly of me, but... disconcerting, at the very least.
I was also disturbed, though in an entirely different way, to find out that he has a granddaughter. I am SO NOT OLD ENOUGH to have a high school classmate who is a grandparent. Except obviously I am.
Memory is a funny thing Phiala...but I'm sure you would have remembered if you'd dated him,or even held hands!
And hey, two of my brothers were grandfathers by 40!
Some year I will garden again.
Love your 10 new friends! Hours of entertainment for your household.
Memory is a funny thing. I always find it interesting when family members have very different memories of the same events. Maybe you where his best ever girlfriend without you knowing it because the relationship was more or less imaginary.
been a long day at work (and still going), so just ticky-boxing now...
Yeeees, Phiala-- I'm also thinking it might be a case of relationship-which-took-place-exclusively-in-his-head. A Lady remembers that sort of thing.
Mistress, been there, it' like "we were friends WHEN????" Re-fresh my memory, or not...
I can't do a new post tonight, I am simply too tired, long day, lots of it spent reading many many 100K Tweets.
There were literally 1000's of entries, and we have narrowed them down to a couple hundred. Heh.
More work tomorrow and the winners to come on April 1st.....
Chatter me nicely tonight, I am here with Bengals. Magic is going to get his own entry soon, he just holds my heart....
Ah...Magic Kitty.....Pretty boy.....memories of past posts.....ahhhh
And how nice to be home with the Bengals, and Fishes. I like that name, for all of them, by the bye. SO much easier to remember!
It is good. We even moved the laundry thru and re-did the bed. Also brought up a newly washed sheepskin and covered it in cat nip.
This last lasd more fun for them, tho it makes me laugh.
Ummm - newly washed sheepskin.
Hold the catnip for me, though - too much stimulation before bed is not good....
Of course newly washed, you don't want to catnip a dirty one...Venus seems to have subdued it and is now sleeping beside me.
Transplanted Catmint to larger pot, so that it can expand as it so obviously desires.
Fertilized all the plants scheduled for same.
Created watering hole with beautiful blue glass basin for birds.
Did my taxes (yay, efile!)
I feel virtuous and accomplished.
Unusually so, for a Monday.
Actually, unusually so for *any* day.
Must be some kind of Spring Fever. :)
Phiala, my mother lost her last baby tooth, turned 40, and became a grandmother all in the same year. My older brother, by 11 1/2 years, became a grandfather 18 years ago come July. My younger brother became a grandfather a year ago. My daughters are currently 7 and 5. It's been almost 28 years since I went to my first S.C.A. event, and 27 years since I first went to Scarborough Faire.
AARP has been after me to join since my mother died almost 12 years ago, and I'm still not old enough to be a member. I've had one waiter make a remark about being out with the grandchild when DD1 was an infant. He realized his mistake when my father joined us a few minutes later. Just a couple of months ago the cashier at Souper Salads in Waco gave us a senior citizen discount, which amounted to 10%.
And most of the time I don't think about 47 being all that close to 50, but it is. Let's have a party! ;)
Spring Fever! That's what it is. Tho we are under a Winter Weather Advisory until tomorrow night...
Remember Loretta Lynn was a Grandmother at 28....And I know lots in their 30's. Mine was at 39.
BTW.....Catmint is a new discovery for me....it is in same section of mint family as Catnip, but almost all cats will completely ignore it.
Until you crush a leaf, roll it between your fingers, bruise that lil puppy all to heck.
THEN IT'S HAPPY HOUR!! Kitties go absolutely NUTSO!! Catnip'd to the max. Tho you have to wash your hands off quickly, or they will eat them. That is never good.
Lasts for only five-ten minutes. Then the furries walk around as if nothing ever happened, with that oh-so-innocent eye. And continuing ignoring the Catmint.
Plus you can grow it in any zone, either pull it inside at winter or let it go dormant, and it pops back up again in the Spring. Can take temps down to below freezing, evidently.
And now back to our regularly scheduled programming :)
very funny post! Love the 'clean off the bookshelf' part.
Lys; a concentrated cilantro sandwich? oh, ewwwwwwwwwwww. LOL
I think having fish is cool; having cats is cool; having them both together is kinda evil considering the kitties luv the fishies! Which of course; makes it totally ok in my book! Hours of entertainment.
Look what's on tonight fiends
Mim & Venus TV! My favorite show!
kitties are thinkin' "Dinner and a show!"
mmm, Stacy--I think you have it backwards:
A show, then dinner :)
*snort*
I have awoken in the middle of the night. Huh.
Went out for ice cream with my family tonight. We celebrated my husbands one year anniversary. (He stopped smoking! I'm so proud of him!)
What else? Brain too asleep though body is functioning. I almost feel like I'm drunk commenting. How odd.
Well, I'm going to try to fall back asleep.
Nighty-night fiends!
Sweet dreams, Ticia.
Having been white haired since my thirties, and having had my second child at 41, I was several times complemented on my "Beautiful grand daughter." My response usually was a simple thank you...except when my evil side was ascendant, in which case I would correct the person. Inevitably, they were mortified.
I'm now in the position of having caught up to my prematurely white hair. And very willing to wait for grandchildren.
Love the garden pictures, especially the flag making assistant. Do you grow brussels sprouts? Most alien looking vegetable ever when growing! So cool
Marjorie - I sent an email to your hotmail account, if you haven't seen it already
A picture, for those who haven't seen the aforementioned alien plant. the coolest part is that they grow in spirals along the stem. I love spirals.
www.allotment.org.uk
I am jealous of your premature whitness, dabbler. I have longed to rock the Anderson Cooper / Jim Jarmusch look since I was 22 or so. I can't wait to go gray!
Interestingly, things are looking up for a grey hair cure (and as usual I can';t find the link, aargh)-- evidently they've found that it happens because the follicle starts to produce hydrogen peroxide, and bleaches the hair as it grows (which would also explain the brittleness). So in theory, it's reversible.
I've only got like six. I'm not worried yet.
Lys, you should see my parents' cat. They grow a big patch of catmint in their garden, and he likes to wander over and shove his face into it. Then he rolls around for twenty minutes. What a junkie. :D
Ooh--don't "cure" it! I love my white hair! My hair has never had more character in my whole life, now that it has mostly gone over to being white.
Good morning, Fiends.
Jess, I think gray (or white) hair tends to look great. My grandmother had cancer and lost all her (colored) hair - and when it came back, it was gray, and she looked truly beautiful.
Before anyone gets too upset I probably ought to note that I found the sciencey aspect interesting, that's all. Not suggesting there's anything wrong with grey hair. ;)
What a lovely post to read as I sit hear listening to the slushy-snowy-freezy-rainy stuff coming down. I am going to buy some dirt and peat pots this weekend (I have seeds) and try to plant some hope. :)
Good Morning!
I didn't know about Catmint Lys, how cool. We have either that or catnip growing wild everywhere out here, I but only in the summber of course.
The Weather Event is going to be a non event, judging by the looks of it, some rain. Big deal. But good, mind you.
Siri, can you drop me a note? We need to talk about your hotel choice, I have met you, you are a Lady. You can't stay there. Trust me, I can get you a decent one for a great price. I have these skills.
I guess I should say, obviously, I like ALL colours of hair. The purple seems to be my fav tho. Need to get new hair soon, ah, the choices. Dan, if you want grey, go for it!
More reading...
And two funny photos for your viewing pleasure:
For BSG fans
Not sure who this is for :)
Thanks Dan Guy, I owe it all to my Dad who was white by age 25...though I didn't know him till he was in his forties...
I like it a lot and always wam surprised when some one asks why I don't dye it. Way, way too much work. Tough i have occasionally contemplated purple.
Hello - hit'n'run commenting - just have a few minutes in the library. Siri- got your mail - thank you - I have sent a quick reply but will mail you more when I'm back in the office and have time.
Q - if you've time, good hotel at reasonable price advice needed over here too!
Dan, you can have my grey hairs if you like - I'm starting to develop badgers stripes of white on both temples. I think I'm probably to disorganised to dye it, though - I am hopeless at remembering to re-do stuff like that regularly.
PS - just tried to check on Boss blog inaanother window. Discovered I can't, as it has been blocked by the library filters. Whatever has he been writing about?
Hotel Finding Blog coming up tonight. Hint: You don't call the hotel and book a room based on the price they quote you.
Have no idea what he has been talking on! Last I checked in it was the PEN event, which no one could object to...Will check.
Also checking yr photos Gayle, I always wonder what YOU are up to , too!
Ah, Marjorie, I can see why they blocked him. Seems to be a pic of him at 14, and them some of his Dog carrying a stick while on a walk.
Can't have THAT sort of thing in Libraries!
If he'd blogged that girl scout cookies amazon search, I'd say they'd be perfectly justified in banning him! Brain. Broken.
So is it just me..... or is the "i" in "inbox" in gmail a small i today rather than a capital one? Or has it always been like that? Don't you sometimes feel like you just didn't get a memo?
That picture of him underage AND a stick. Plus a dog. He probably got banned on the basis of incitation to pedophilia, zoophilia and general kinkiness.
Marjorie, I just checked and the Boss's blog entry is the same; posted the 29th. Teenage photo, dog, World's Best Stick. Maybe filter is stuck on something else from this month. Or who knows when?
Boss's blog got a lot of hits all at once. Maybe the library bans all writers blogs because, well, you know. Writers. Or maybe just the Newbery winners.
I am off to work, where I will spend many hours laughing while reading Tweets and in sadness trying to cull 20 or so winners, with Cat, from several 100's possibly great ones...
It's hard work. Tea should help. and in doubt, chocolate.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Oh God! I just remembered what I meant to post before I got distractalated by y'all's posts.
TEA!! The Financial Times today, on the front page, says tea prices to "LEAP... soar... jump" and other expensive things due to drought in the world's key exporting countries. Time to panic, folks. Let's start hoarding.
(had to edit - left out an "s")
What's next??? Chocolate? Vodka? Aaargh.
I can, (and indeed DO ) live without chocolate and vodka, but TEA?????
Fortunately, we have known this for some time, and our supply here is secure. Who's yr friend now???
www.britishtea.com
Oh, those of you across the water will be un-impressed, but yes, for just Tea drinking, we do have to order it here in my part of the world, can't just go BUY it in the store...
britishtea.com doesn't sell Twinings. I like the UK black box Keemun... *sob*
I ordered a dozen boxes from the British Emporium in Grapevine a few weeks ago, but it takes forever for them to get it. And it'll be more aspensive. A lot more. Oh well. I can make do with English Breakfast.
Maybe I can peddle my tea cozies on the street to earn enough for my fix.
Ooh, i want a tea cozy! :)
Tea cozies up on my FB page in Wall Photos! GTG. Gotta lunch date with the spouse.
The besterest tea I ever had was some loose-leaf Earl Grey which THE East India Company did specially for Past Times. That was good tea. (Past Times, on the other hand, used to be fantastic but now offers only Froofy Tat.)
I wish I could find some more of that stuff!
I know why Bossblog is blocked. There's a terrible joke in the tagline. What's brown and sticky indeed. Pfft.
I got one: What is the difference between a duck?
*waits*
Why cant' I find you on facebook? Blah.
Spent the morning hounding ben to clean his room, it's finally done. Now i need to get him out the door to the library. Must pick up his next issue of Magic Tree House...i'm enjoying reading those to him! And there's something like 35 of them at this point. It's like getting into discworld books, they'll keep you going for years! ;-)
I don't know, Jess, what IS the difference between a duck?
One of its legs are both the same.
LA-MEN-TA-BLE!
You want lamentable, I can pull out the one about how to tell the sex of a chromosome.
OW
I'm the world's best straight man...I never remember jokes for more than a day. My nephews love me!
100!
Congratulations, Nathalie! Answer the following for twenty-five bonus points: Why is a mouse when it spins?
Man oh man I should have been a part of that a while ago.
One misses things working.
There's still time. Nathalie never answered the question. You could steal her points. :D
Too easy. And I would not want to steal from her. She might come after me.
(The higher the few)
MIGHT have been at this Tweet thing too long. Just was reading down a list if what I thought were tweets I pulled only to find I was reading Boss's schedule for 09-10. Sad thing is, lots of it was pretty funny...
Hee! It's just as well-- I've run out of bad jokes. Someone else will have to come up with more.
(I'm sure she won't mind if I slip you fifteen points. There you go: don't spend 'em all in one place.)
Uh oh. You've hit the Tweet Wall!
I've gone off Twitter for the moment. I think it's doing bad things to my head.
I like my teas like i like my women...loose... oh, um...
i really enjoy watching hte bits flat around before i strain it into my cup. i have one of those small 2 cuppa brew pots that has a strainer built inthye btttom and strains the tea into your mug when pushed down on top of the mug.
I can't wait to see the winning Tweet. I didn't even try.
Andrea- about that number on the last page.....the fella is using some money he has and we are buying the place outright, and as a Fannie Mae foreclosure we need to put some money and sweat equity into it, but we got it for $52,900 [/whisper].
Ha! We didn't get the snow! Woo!
WOW! Congrats Beez!!!!
My folks got a place in forclosure too. Not for that little but they're place is huge and gorgeous (still in the same podunk town but when you're in the house, it feels like a vacation!) ;-)
I love how much Ben loves Coraline. He's got the Dawn French tape, the Neil CD and asked me today "When can I see the movie a third time?" ... out of the blue ...I said "What movie??" and he said "Coraline!!!" Like, duh. Out of all the tapes or CDs i'd have to hear over and over, I'm fine with it being those!
The movie gave our friends kid nightmares. He was totally freaked out. Kept asking when the lady was going to sew buttons on his eyes.
Each kid is so different!
I could go into deep deep debt on this site. They just have the coolest crap!
I apologise for any spending sprees this may cause.

We weren't friends! That's why i couldn't find you. Be my friend!!!! :)
Gotcha. I think. Let me go check.
what a wonderful stream of conversations to read while munching my toast. Jess...what is the mouse answer?
I am having contraptions...you have to ORDER your tea! Blimey, I'd be lost.
I fear for Boss if his schedule made you laugh Quiche.
Sally - Quiche said it earlier-- because the higher, the fewer! It makes perfect sense if you understand regulators on steam engines. :D
The only regulators I knew were on caffeine. At least at work. In the hotel bars, different story.
Home! And it is not yet announced, but if I were me I would say that I am no longer looking at Tweet uop tweets of captions..
Going to do a new post now...
Hey all you gardening types check out the robot gardeners!
Gardeners made from hacked Roombas. What else could we make from hacked Roombas? Hmmm.
I just like saying "hacked Roombas."
I shall go dream of a Roomba Flip n' Fold.
Fluuy's Flipped.
Aleta May: I really enjoyed the blurb about "the idea was that of an MIT researcher."
You young kids, get off my lawn!! Then go rent "Silent Running", and see just how far your cutting edge is actually *behind* the times.
And speaking of feeling either seriously aged or ageless, Jess, your Duck joke also gave me a flashback. 30 years or so ago, our version went:
"Why is a duck?"
"Because his left leg are both the same."
Generally told at either Cons or Mensa house parties, along with:
"How many Surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?"
Answers ranged from:
"Blue"
to
"Pie are Squared."
Okay, back to SUV er SVU and W/out a Trace now.....
The version of the duck joke that i would tell was:
"What's the difference between a duck?"
- A bicycle, because a vest has no sleeves.
Hubby's is:
"What's the difference between a duck?"
-Whereas a duck goes quack.
Ben's in bed. Mindless TV time.
I am off for some SUV, myself, but wanted to let you know my highly entertaining and informational Hotel Blog is up....
nighty night all

hohoho
and I thought the best toy for any kitty, perhaps my kitties, would be... a hamster in a ball! The hammie would not be quite as thrilled... But the coffee table aquarium is great- practical, attractive.. difficult to clean?
What "more" are you planting this year? We have also increased the size of our farm in the city, and I managed to get more cold weather crops in yesterday before today's, you guessed it, snow.
We've got such a case of cabin fever that even I am excited to get out and clean out the beds (flower and raised vegetable). Today we raised the Garden Fork of Righteousness and the Clippers of Truth against a wall of bramble berries that produce nothing but scratches. We prevailed and are planning beds for summer greens (partial shade back there). My favorite garden tools have a whiff of vampire hunter about them (stakes, these Japanese shears that make my daughters nervous).
Here's to sunshine and gentle rains!
