More Or Less Lazy Sunday..
Sunday here, and it seems to finally stopped being fall! I was kind of confused this passed week, with temps in the low 60's and dropping to upper 40's in the night. I will NOT turn on heat in July. What is UP with this weather? And no cool storms for Weather Girl.
My bed was warmer last night tho. Little Queen Mab slept with me! And she has been delightful, since becoming MY Cat, she comes to the stairs when I call, and follows me everywhere, and lets me pet her.
This isn't surprising, I knew she would make a good pet, but also that Lear needs her, NO separating them. Funny thing is, she bullies him! Shamelessly. Hadn't noticed that before.
King Lear, I ignore. Completely. This makes him VERY curious.
Not all roses tho. The other night Lear ATE a picture of me and my sisters from when we were young, and then they shut themselves in the bathroom. They seemed happy in the morning to be let out.
Now that I have decided that they ARE my cats, and my heart can get involved, I am very committed to taking them as far as I can. Not that I wasn't before, and I am still very certain that IF I can ever bring Lear to trust and accept me, it will be only me, and that there isn't anyone else for him.
Here's my Horsie, Anamontana at the show today. I didn't ride in it, but had a fine time, hanging out and helping where I could. This is Brandon, trainer Mel's son, up on her, for a Western Class. (Cool Son. Gets UNDERWORLD like I do and seems happy to delve in and talk about every little thing as long as we have time for, I don't find that in MANY people. He writes too, and reads like a demon. Smart kid. You'll be hearing from him, I am sure)
(And just in case his sister Jeannie says "HEY! I rode in the show today too and got ribbons even tho I was on a Totally Crazed horse why aren't I there?" that would be because you hate it whenever I take your picture, you SO rocked on that horse!)
(OK, and to the other brother Joe, let's just say he is cool too but I don't know him as well. Love this family tho. I wouldn't be with horses if it wasn't for them, and that means a lot, that they help me so.)
Just now I am watching a Gene Simmons Family Jewels marathon, and let me say, it's just about perfect.
The Bengals tho, are not interested, and have decided to sleep.
Love and Lazy Sundays,
Lorraine

Hooray for a new sleeping companion!
I just had a textile disaster, and am sulking. It was my own damn fault, but not sure what I would have done differently.
I am somehow not surprised that Mab bullies Lear. It sounds so clear that he is wrapped around her little paw. How wonderful that she slept with you. I'm still fuzzy on the new arrangements. Do the bengals now have free access to each other? Or do they still have separate parts of the house, and you move about like a queen on her royal progress?
Nothing notable from here. Same old, same old.
Very johnny cash looking that boy is!
Glad you found love in your bed! I knew you would ;)
I'm home. Phoenix was 118, hotter on the concrete downtown outside the venue. Tori was ON FIRE from the desert. Best show i've seen with the band...ever i think.
My boys are still in portland. So i'm home blaring Thea Gilmore and doing dishes, etc.
The Royals have the upstairs, 2 bedrooms, bath, landing and stairs.
Venus and Min have the main floor, (Romance room, Dinning room, sunroom, butlers pantry, kitchen and basement, tho the Royals may get porch access, not with the others tho.)
Magic, his room and porch, sometimes with him.
Venus ad Mim don;t seem to mind, they didn't sleep with me often, just woke me at dawn, the Royals are quieter. SO far.
Blasting Thea is never a bad plan.
Is Lear hanging out in the room when Mab sleeps with you, at least? And I'm not surprised she bullies him, you did mention that later generation bengals push around earlier gen ones.
Dan is home :-)
Holy crap, Na! Yup, that's some get-in-the-basement cloudage there.
Hello. Hooray for cuddly Mab! Sounds to be working out well for all pusses.
We bought ours a new scratchy thing today, and a new food bowl. And food. Why does this sort of thing make me so happy? It does.
Hurrah ribbon-winning horsepersons! Well done. :)
Seems like the Royals are much happier now that they know they are home. :)
Anamontana looks in the picture like she's thinking, "This is boring. Let's move!" Glad you had a lovely day at the horse show. :)
Lazy Sunday here too. Too lazy to list.
Have the Royals been protecting you from the B.A. spiders?
I had my lazy Sunday yesterday. Tried to stay away from the computer as much as possible, laid back and read.
Today is a very very windy Monday. I had to go and get some food before, and the wind was blowing the trolley away from me. It made getting the groceries from the trolley into the boot a workout.
I think Mab will have you wrapped around her paw very quickly Lorraine.
I do love Sunday o how I do love Sunday.
Sorry about your picture. That's really too bad.
(Sneaking in a message during my lunchbreak)
The film festival has started here, so of course we had the first fine weekend ages.*sigh* Never mind. I got to wander around in the sunshine between movies (Ponyo and Largo)on Sunday.
I guess the Royals are assimilating you with the ritual Eating of the Picture (Soul?), but how does your sister feel about that? Does she know that resistance is futile?
So, Mim bullies Magic and Mab bullies Lear. Sounds like the Bengal gals have them well in....paw.
I love how your ignoring him is making Lear curious. Just like show biz Quichie - always leave 'em wanting more!
ace of cakes has a serenity ship cake.
i did some napping and general lazing about.
horsey show sounds awesome:)
i'm so glad the royals are fitting in.
I'm glad you're going to provide a home for my sadly neglected old bow. It deserves much more use than I'm giving it these days.
Good news for cats settling in!
I'll post that tomorrow then, shall I?
'Twould be grand, that. Cheers!
Cool. Also, thanks for letting me have the chair back.
Not a problem.
This is like that video I saw on YouTube of two people playing the same piano.
awww, Jess and husbeast in love
Jess and husbeast in a life-or-death struggle for control of the internets! Raar.
I think he means this one.
Aaaand tick again. Grah.
Fiends (and fiends-in-law) are very entertaining.
Had brunch at Hell's Kitchen today with my tequila drinking women. Yum.
I just love the changes in the Royals. They know things that's for sure. Many a metaphor for our own lives there I think.
I love these horse people of yours Quiche. I love all the different things in life that there are to be passionate about. I sometimes think I take my passions in too much moderation.
::sigh:: I have to get up early in the morning, and for seven more days in the next two weeks, in order to get DDs to swim lessons. At least they don't have to be there until just before 9 AM. Last year their session started at 8 AM. Not fun when you live 30-45 minutes away.
Dreet sweams, Fiends!
Awwwww, wee Mab gets Q.
Awwwww, funny Jess and Fiend-in-law.
Awwwww, Victor Borge.
And yay for fun horse day.
Sleep is good. Sundays are meant to be lazy. Or covered in hot caramel sauce.
mmmm, hot caramel sauce. With ice cream, and french fries. nomnomnom
And veering wildly off-topic...I've just been on the Craft 2.0 site and seen that Hera has been very, very busy. Hats, and jewellery and music videos, oh my. :)
(At least I think that is the fiendish Hera.)
Just re-read Sally's comment. Maybe that's why I'm suddenly so hungry?
A trip to McD's for you MsT, for french fries and a caramel sundae yum.
Oh dear. Very definitely hungry now.
Must...resist...urge...to...oh, who am I kidding. The only reason I'm not hurtling down the road to Macca's is because the supermarket is closer. No caramel sundaes and fries, but there's still some pretty yummy food to be had. And did I mention it's much closer? :)
Just a little bit more work to do, then I can go forage.
I just happened to be watching a local kids tv show, when they came up with muffins for horses and I thought you might make them for the horses Quiche.
'Morning!
Yay for Mab being cuddly, and for
Lear being curious - so much better than being terrified and hiding.
The horse show sounds fun, too. In fact, it sounds as though it was a good weekend altogether.
Sally, are you feling better yet? And did you enjoy Coraline?
Morning Marjorie...Coraline is this coming Sunday. Cold is hanging on. *sigh*
Back after being gone. Trip to NYC to spend time with most excellent friends, as well as generally being much too busy, took over all my time.
So good to read about the royals and the changes for the household! Congrats.
Debating trying to catch up vs. declaring comment bankruptcy and simply moving forward...what to do, what to do?
I frequently declare comment (and twitter) bankruptcy.
wait, what - we're supposed to make a declaration of comment/twitter bankruptcy? Who knew?
(Lex, I had a moment of panic when I saw your comment, I misread it and thought you were personally consiering bankruptcy... v. glad to realise that was a mistake on my part!)
Congrats on finding the Royals a permanent home. It sounds very right. :-)
I love how animals seem to know when their world shifts. It sounds like the Royals know they are really and truly home-home.
I'm so happy for you and for them.
stealth tick
aww that's just the best, finding oneself cuddled up to by a cat.
Glad to hear The Royals are enjoying their new home comforts. Wouldn't it be great if Lear and Magic were to form a boys club eventually? I find it very weird that my boy cats all get along famously and the only trouble ever comes from the girl-boy cat scenarios. I mean, you don't expect that sort of thing, do you..
also, a ticky box
Speaking of girl cat problems...
Microbetta disappeared yesterday and so far has failed to come back.
Nathalie! Does she do this often? Yikes!
Oh, Nathalie. I hope she turns up soon.
i am so glad that the Royals continue to stay on at Spooky House. and that Queenie was on your bed!
as for Gene Simmons, i just found out son Nick (who is taller than Drew!! 6'8" or something) is BIG fan of Boss. Maybe a guest spot for Quiche on the Family Jewels..
ok, gotta go back to work, the JoBros are keeping me very busy. I miss my lovely assistant...The Fabulous Lo.
She had absconded once before but had returned for breakfast.
She did not, this morning. Nor for lunch.
She might be trapped somewhere (or might have been abducted by someone, she has the most beautiful eyes after all). Or...
It's the not knowing which is the worst bit.
Oh no! :( I hope you find her.
I hope as well. She is a silly creature but we do like her. And what would Microbo do without his toy?
She will turn up, a smear of crimson lipstick on one ear, breath with a faint hint of catnip, firmly refusing to say where she's been or who she's been with.
That wouldn't surprise me...
{Nat}, fingers crossed your Microbetta comes home soon, no worse for having had an adventure.
I spy Siri!
Hi Lexa!
oh nat, i am o sorry, i have my fingers crossed she turns up quickly.
Hoping Microbetta returns straightaway. Bony fingers crossed.
I'm glad I checked the blog now. Nat, I add my fingers to the crossed pile.
Aw, Nat, I hope she comes home soon with a silly smile :-)
*hugs*
I love hearing about places where it's cool this summer! We had a "cold front" come to Austin so the the temps dropped from 105 to 95, woohoo! I don't really mind the heat but I like to hear that the whole country isnt a roasting desert.
It made me smile to read about your bed guest too :)
Wonderful about the sleeping companion! One of the best things about winter is the bed full o' pets. In the summer I just have the dog and the tabby.
Phiala, sorry about the textile disaster! I find that disasters which are my own fault are more difficult to let go of, somehow.
Mmmm, caramel. I will stir some up this week, as it's waaaay to hot (Up to 94 predicted in the Seattle/Tacoma area! I do not approve!) to bake this coming week.
spacedlaw, all digits crossed and big come-home vibes going out to your Microbetta!
Oh no! I hope Microbetta gets home soon!! Have you looked everywhere and called out for her?
Fingers crossed
Nathalie, I'm adding my good wishes for Microbetta. Is it the kind of neighborhodd where you can go around asking people to check sheds, garages, etc? As you said, she could have been exploring someplace just as a door was closing.
Our brief London heatwave is now but a memory, sadly. I hardly had time to get used to it. Turn on the heating if you need it, even if it is July!
Microbetta seems locked in the neighbour's shed. I hope we can get in touch with him. She must be terribly thirsty.
At least you know where she is!
If not, a little B&E sounds justified. Poor kitty.
Poor Microbetta! Good that we know where she is, at least.
Poor Microbetta, I do hope that you are able to get her put quickly.
Is Microbetta your cat, Nathalie?
B&E is definitely on our list if we can't get the guy on the phone to ask him if he'd come to free her. Today, the weather wasn't too hot but another day in that air less shed would kill her.
One of my cats, yes.
Hi Martin! Nice to hear from you again! Seems to be summer again today. No heat needed, but what weird weather.
Oh no, poor Micro.
Despite the fact the her bowl is FULL of dry food, Mim is currently engaged in tearing open the new bag, CERTAIN there is better food in there.
Today is NOT a lazy day.
Yay for finding Microbetta and here's hoping the neighbour comes home quickly to liberate her. Otherwise, I'd feel very justified springing her out with a pair of oversized pliers.
Such a really lovely cat, Nathalie!

my grand-boss was at a conference last week and missed hte whole email about the audit so i have today and tomorrow to find over 50 events in our filing cabinet.
i'm kind of freaking out a little bit.
Nat,
i hope you get her out sooner, poor thing.
And Vampi - good luck finding everything
oh vampi! someone else's lack of planning constitutes an emergency on your part? no fun. i'm sure you'll pull it together fine.
Nathalie - any news of Microbetta? I've been thinking about her (and you) all day, wondering. I hope all has turned out well.
I think I'm going to attempt a late night, so hope all you night owl and different time zone fiends can keep me company. I'm in as much of a grove as one can get with Bowers. I want to at least finish the chapter I'm on before bed, while the info kind of hangs together in my head. If I can do that, I should be able to finish the last chapter this week, then use next weekend to review before heading to VA. If only day-to-day work would stop getting in the way :-/
I suspect this would be an insomnia night anyway, so I'd be dragging through tomorrow anyway.
Right. Time to make more tea.
She is a beautiful cat, Natalie. I'm sure you can find some B&E tips online, if needed. Hope your neighbor is a decent chap and that you've run him to ground by now, though. Suppose that would be better.
I dropped a bit of furniture on my left big toe today. I suspect a fracture. This was part of a rearrangement (slash work-avoidance activity) that it turns out is requiring more rearranging than originally planned. Sound familiar? And the bit that smashed my foot was a futon frame I had otherwise successfully got down the basement stairs by myself. I know, I know, not smart. *wince* Moving on. Now have futon sitting on the living room floor, and taking cues from Q, I suspect it would be a good place to camp out with the laptop. Could happen.
I hope that kitties and fiends are all well and where they should be/want to be. I must now go to bed and hope for sleep as I made a commitment in the actual morning. Yicks.
I've reached the end of the penultimate required chapter earlier than I expected. More of this chapter was in English (albeit pedantic English) than the previous (and much longer) one. Just a comparatively short chapter on 19th and 20th century books to go. Then to do some selective rereading so I can go to RBS with all my requirements fulfilled.
Continued good wishes for Microbetta.
Now to see if all that tea is going to catch up with me now that I'm allowed to go to bed. That, or my hamster-wheel brain.
So glad to hear Microbettta has her liberty again, Nathalie! Is she very cross with you for having allowed her to be trapped? (I know cats enough to know she will consider it your fault, not her own!)
Of course it is our fault. We are the minions, it cannot be but our fault.
Heaven forbid that it should be hers.
Hurrah for a safe and sound Microbetta! She must have been so embarrased, so of course she has to blame you, just to maintain her dignity. Silly darling.
A free Microbetta - what a relief! But how improper of you to allow her to be shut in a shed, and to not release her instantly if not sooner.
Na, ouch! I hope it is not broken and heals quickly.
I am tired and grouchy and did not sleep well. No particular reason, just accumulated stress.
Phiala - hope the day improves. I'd be grumpy too, after all that. (Well, yes, I am already grumpy, but you know what I mean.) Have you found a way to fix the sash? If not, will you start another one for the person who ordered it?
How's the toe, Na?
I just went through an interview for a new post (which I don't think I will take but, hey, a girl has to apply) and am now experiencing an adrenaline meltdown...
*sctirches* to Microbetta, may your minions never allow this to happen again.
Thanks all, toe less sore this morning! I am pleasantly surprised. And grateful - feeling I lucked out.
oh na, i missed the toe squishing. i'm glad it is somewhat improved.
broken toes are not fun :(
hooray microbetta is free. i am so happy. i was worried.
Glad to hear Microbetta is back and well, Nathalie!
And sounds like good news on your toe, Na! Today has got to be a better day.
I have this terrible feeling that something really good is going to happen today. Or maybe just be a good day. What's the opposite of impending doom?
suspected squee?
I'm happy that Microbetta has been released. I'm sorry that she's going to make your life a living hell in the next few days. Cats!
Na- Your bright mood is making my day brighter. Maybe good days are like seeds that we pass along to others. Oh, and I'm glad your Big Mama Toe feels better today.
In honor of Hemingway's birthday, a transcript of an e-mail conversation with a colleague, for your possible amusement:
Me: I should probably read more Hemingway, except that I don't really like reading Hemingway, owing to his tendency towards overly macho characters and themes, which leave me quite uninterested. It's his concise sentence structure I need to study and learn how to emulate, since I tend to be overly wordy in my writing style. As I try to write my RBS personal statement, it occurs to me that my usual sentences, if they were to be diagrammed, would more resemble a forest than a tree.
Colleague: are you familiar with the 'harry's american bar and grill bad hemingway competition'? the books 'the best of bad hemingway' and 'more..' are pretty funny. if you were truly interested in getting a laugh while adding hemingwegian style to your writers' toolkit..
which rbs class are you taking?
M: Heh. Sounds funny. I'm picturing scenes in which the hero clasps the buxom damsel to his manly chest with one hirsute arm, while shooting a tiger with the other. All with Cuban cigar firmly clenched between his manly teeth. Hang on. I think the Bridges of Madison County guy already did that one.
Anyway, I'm working on an application for bibliographical description.
C: 'intro to bibliography'?
M: Yep. They changed the title to have more syllables. My kind of people...
Just peeking in to say hi - my captor here in Cape Cod keeps making me "go places." I hope for rescue when her spousal unit arrives today. This is my second brief internet access in the last week. Seems longer! I'm hoping to keep these windows open so I can catch up back at the house. Later!
My family used to train horses. Your photo reminds me of spending days at horse shows -- the dirt and the gamey smells and the panic I always felt when I'd wander off alone until I was unable to find family members. I was in a western show once when I was about 7, and was very put out that I had to dress as a cowboy while another girl got to be the American Indian Princess. I sort of miss those days, in a vague way.
I want to Go Places in Cape Cod! I've never been there.
Also peeking hello. Hello.
I totally pwn3d Amazon Visa customer service just now. TRIUMPH: they will send me my $25 voucher what went missing in the mail. Season 3 of Kids in the Hall shall be mine, at a discount. Owah tanah siam! \o/
The Kids In The Hall! My friend Gretta says she looks like Nigel Planer's character. Was it Neil? Dunno. Too much vodkazzz.
Neil was Nigel Planer's character in The Young Ones. Kids in the Hall had Dave Foley from NewsRadio.
(Eeee, Dave Foley!)
Looks like Jack wants to see Star Trek in Mass. tomorrow. This means I get to see it again. It's a good thing he has found something to do, seeing as his girlfriend is away in Maine for three and a half weeks.
Quiet evening in the Fiendom.
Had to do laundry tonight, but the time was greatly improved by the newly released Coraline DVD. Didn't watch in 3D, though. Doubt there's much point when watching it on such a tiny screen.
Tomorrow, back to Bowers. Then Thursday I take Mom to the Biograph Theater to see William Peterson in a play. She really likes him, though I have doubts about whether she will like the play. Not sure that I want to see it, for that matter. But she's excited about going.
Vampi, I love "suspected squee!"
Yes, Coraline DVDs are everywhere now.
I'm working 'til I shamble again. Blah. Aside from monster care, I did take time out last night to watch a couple episodes of Friday Night Lights. This is a great show, the characters are very well drawn and acted.
Hey fiends. I am feeling creative and hope to do more on my Night Garden project this week. We'll see. Wee!
But now... bed, reading some Dresden Files, then sleep. All good.
I have never watched Friday Night Lights, Na ... but William was very excited to have Coraline last night.
Much insomnia last night. Didn't get to sleep till about 3:00. So I'm shambling today.
One thing to look forward to though. Today is the employee preview of the Newberry booksale. This is a huge booksale, and it doesn't officially start till tomorrow. There's a donor's preview tonight, and there is someone camped outside our doors already, to be first in line. Really. But first, we hard-working and under-paid employees get first crack over lunch. The big-time collectors have nothing to fear from us, since we can't afford the treasures. But we can fill up on dollar paperbacks and the like. And do we ever.
Hope everyone is doing well today. Colds, headaches, and other pains gone away, leaving happy fiends.
Na, a broken toe? Oh, man. I hope if feels better soon.
NOT enjoying my womenness. At all. Very grumpy I am.I'll be back to my cheerful self tho shortly. I do have a hot tub and I know how to use it...
hmm soft cusion, comfy chair, and then hot tub. i like this torture business.
Lorraine, sorry about the not-joy, no fun at all for you.
OSS, hemingwegian is now my favorite adjective and I will work it into every possible conversation today.
Jess, KiTH! Wierdly, I was thinking about "30 Helens Agree" this very morning.
Lorraine - Feel better soon! Do any of the cats like to lean against you while on your lap? Phoebe does, and she's better than a heating pad at those times.
Came away from the booksale with a pretty good haul. Hit sci fi/fantasy section first to see if I could get some Pratchett, since he's not often to be found at used bookstores. Got a few, but not sure which ones yet. It was a case of grab and go. A couple of new-to-me Sterne editions. Will have to wait till tonight to see what else is in those two bags.
I lucked out - big mama toe not broken, I'm confident -- still achy, but swelling and pain are waaaay down. Almost enough to let me do a happy dance.
Hope your week is improving, Phiala. Yours, too, Q, and any one else with good reasons to grumble.
Glad to hear the Microbetta is now safe and sound (if a bit miffed.)
Na - I'm glad your toe isn't broken. You never quite realize how important your toes are for walking and standing til you mash one..then it's just OW!
Lorraine, maybe now is the time to take advantage of Mab's cuddliness. Kitties make the best heatpads as long as they hold still.
110!
Get well soon.
Hugs and hot tub.
Despite not working especially hard today, I seem to have made considerable progress on three separate major projects.
And also, my head has not fallen off, though I'm not entirely convinced that's a good thing.
Going to putter around here at work a bit more, then putter around at home for a bit, then crash.
We watched Coraline last night in 3D, by the way.
112!
Feel better soon.
Have a cute and fun game.
I don't need any cute and fun games, thank you very much. I've been playing Plants vs Zombies!
I think I can fix the textile disaster, meaning I don't have to start completely over. Whew!
Wonderful news, Phiala!
Sorry you feel so rotten, Quiche. Lots of Fiend love.
William is in bed watching Coraline. Whee.
Way behind, saying hello. Having a nesting fit, somehow, and getting carried away in a cleaner direction. if I ever get there. I've spent three partial days on DDs bedroom, including unearthing the books we put in the back of her closet 18 years ago. Nice to find some old fiends. now I need to find space for them. Four boxes go to Goodwill...Hooray!
Healing thoughts to Fablo, and so glad the news on Microbetta and Na's toe is good.
back on a more regular basis soon...maybe!
Hi Fiends..All well, not so much in pain, just very curl up with hot water bottle and book with bad tv and not be too chatty sort of thing....
Back tomoorow for your regularly scheduled Quiche..
G'night, Q. Have a good rest. May the morn bring you a cello bow.
Ahh Q. Hope the curling up and the heat and the TV and the quiet all helped you feel better and more... you-like.
Rest well and feel better, Q.
dabbler, congrats on getting so much clearing out accomplished!
fingers crossed for a textile fix, Phiala.
Hey, did someone slip Felix Felicitus into my pumpkin juice? 'Cause I feel absurdly lucky. We experienced nothing more than concern when a wall cloud moved over this city, I did not break my toe despite smashing it between wood and concrete, I haven't told my neighbor off despite her repeated efforts to insult me, and tonight! Tonight I did not overflow the bathtub when I shut the (unknownst-to-me) locked door while letting the water run. I even pulled a MacGyver, stripping the covering off a disposable pen so I could use the ink cartridge to open the door.
Glad Microbetta has been found and rescued, Nathalie!
Na, glad you're toe is not broken! I suspect that I broke my little toe a couple of years ago, and that was so not fun. Especially when trying to teach a belly dance class.
Get to take DDs to swim/water safety class in Waco tomorrow morning, then doctor's office in Temple tomorrow afternoon so that Ariane can get a hepatitis A vaccine (injection). Life is so much fun.
Hey there cats and kitties!
I hope you are feeling better today, Q!
mreow!
Hoping things are looking up for Quiche. :)
Jess. I am loving that game. :) Thanks.
Was gonna say, the game should be right up Phiala's street. It's all about seed propogation. ;)
Siri - Long time, no hear. Or maybe it just feels like a long time to me. Time's being extra strange lately. Anyway, remember that "secret plan" for one of the books I got in Dreamhaven? I've pulled it off, and let Boss know via twitter (@neilhimself You now have a book in the Newberry Library! http://tinyurl.com/mxfjdx). The curator's acceptance letter was pretty funny, calling it "witty and just a little weird".
A geeky thing to do, I guess. But it amused me.
Linda, that is excellent. This is surely the right place for that kind of geeky. :)
Speaking of geeky! This made me laugh.
Linda, FTW! \O/
No apologies for geekiness needed here, Linda. Fiends often wear nerd panties, after all. ;)
If we Fiends needed to repent for our geekiness, I would be one sorry chick.
For the Fiends who keep asking (by which I mean Siri!), Unicorns was rejected.
No, I'm not bothered by this, though it would have been nice. Just means I need to find somewhere else to send it.
Is Unicorns a story, Phiala?
Sorry to read that Phiala.
I am sure you will eventually find a forum for it. Listings of opportunities are available on Duotrope
Emily, yes. A few fiends read it last winter while I was finishing it.
So. An offhand comment on twitter ended up leading me to actually consider celebrating my 40th birthday. (Gasp!) I guess that in itself would be a "crazy" thing to do, since I've been avoiding b'day celebrations for decades. And I have been looking for "crazy" things to do to make up for being born middle-aged. But I'm thinking, if a few fiends who are in or close enough to Chicago are interested... maybe... just maybe, I could do this thing.
It would, of course, require that I reveal my b'day, another thing I have avoided for decades. Is this too much change all at once? Dare I do it?
How about a guessing game instead. Don't worry, I'll make it easy for fiends by giving the following clue: I share a b'day with two fictional characters.
A large part of me is telling me to delete this comment. Who am I to ask anyone to go out of their way for me? But you know, if you're in, or would like to be in Chicago anyway...
OSS - I think that's a fine idea!! I regret not attending Fiendom Come. I'm in Milwaukee and could easily take the train.
Linda, it's agreat idea, and if I were on the correct continent I'd be there like a shot.
(I am now going to be up all night trying to think of fictional birthdays...)
OSS, any excuse for a party. Even if you do have to be the center of attention.
There's a major fictional birthday on September 22. I don't know if there are two.
Are you thinking LOTR, Phiala? Frodo & Bilbo makes two.
You can sleep now, Marjorie. I did say it would be easy for fiends ;-)
Oh, right. Duh. BOTH of them.
Geekier still....my birthday is the day that Frodo wakes up in Rivendell after the attack :)
I can't do that one without looking it up, Arwenn, and that would disturb the cat.
Marjorie - October 24th It would NOT do to disturb Sir Tybalt!!!
Finally , she puts up a new post for her Fiends!
