Pink and Her Ponies....

It was a riding weekend this past weekend and I did promise some Horse Photos. I didn't say anything about GOOD horse photos, but again, Miss Kitty is coming home from her tour soon and THEN we will have photos. Horses, Bengals, ME, all of it!

This is more exciting for me, as it will mean she will BE here. I think I am going into withdrawal. Long tour it was. I miss her!!!!!! Bet she will have some posts soon at Neverwear and Furrytiger too!

Above is a lovely picture of me with Lady May, a pure Arab, post riding. I think it is a good look for me. Sweat, dirt, pink. What's not to love?

I've only recently started riding Maisie, as she is called. Whole different horse. With Ana I feel like I work on my riding, and with Maisie, it's more working on the horse and the riding. I wish I could be more articulate than that. With Maisie, it's like every shift of muscle, every slightest touch of rein means something to her. We are kind of a circus as of yet, she and I.

Here's my Annamontanta (they CAME with names people) eating her saddle. Ana is half quarter horse, half arab, and lovely to ride. Both are show horses, both English and Western. I like English better. Really want to learn Dressage. I can make an 8 now, at a trot on the right diagonal.

This is the Horse equivalent of learning G, D, and A on the guitar.

Here's two young friends trying to make Maisie put her ears up for the picture, which was far more fun than shooting the horse.

The people I ride with are what makes this stable. They are all serious riders, with great horses, but they really love horses, and anyone who also loves horses is ok in their book.

I love being out there. I love the way everything else drops away when I'm there. You can't worry about work while you ride, you can't be thinking in music, you can't be wondering what you need to do next. You can't panic.

It's you and the horse.

I love the way I can hardly walk when I am done and wake up so sore I wonder how the other guy is. I love it when I get better at it. I love the way I fall asleep about 30 seconds after I get into bed at night. And stay that way until morning.

It's making me stronger. And fitter. In mind and body, if that doesn't sound too corny.

I love seeing what happens next.

When I'm riding, I'm everything I see in my mind.

And I think everyone needs that.

Love and Horses,
Lorraine

Jess, spiders are creepy! I much prefer zombies over spiders. Ick! Bit not zombie spiders... those are about the worst things ever.

Na, season 1 is good. Season 2 is much better. Eric is so much fun in the second season.

By the way, did you guys hear that David Tennant is The Riddler in the next Batman movie? http://www.flickfilosopher.com/flickfilos/art/tennantriddler.jpg I'm sure he'll be fabulous, but is it just me or does he still look like the Doctor with those glasses and the pin striped suit?

Hello my dears!

Sorry for the silence, PMS/Period hell, yes again. Just had to curl up ride it out. Better now, mostly, catching up on things...

We thought as much and have been sending you feel-better thoughts while chatting among ourselves. Glad they're finally working.

Q, glad you're better. Sounds like you go through hell every month :-(

Heya Hellziggy, I'm desperately jealous of the fried pickles, but I'll vote for you anyhow!

It's Lorraine! Hi! Hi! Hi!

I like spiders, Erin. Watched one eat her dinner last night. It's very weird and fascinating what they do to their prey to eat them.

At 17:31 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Lorraine! So glad you're feeling better. Missed you.

Jess, I'm like that with spiders too -until they move and then I run screaming like a banshee. Unless their name is storm and they live in my recycling bin *grin*

This is much better than in the past when I couldn't go into a room if there was a spider there, and had to get neighbors to come and rescue me. LOL

I love David Tennent, but he certainly is no Frank Gorshin. OK, he's a little Frank Gorshin, but not in a suit.

I'm starting a new interwebs rumor, based on a news story I heard on NPR about who gets H1N1. The elderly don't, and the very young don't (at least, not much). Those who get H1N1 and suffer the most from it are school- and college-aged people. The very same people who twitter all over creation.

It's Twitter I tell you - Twitter. It will make you sick.

There. That's my contribution to gossip and hysteria.

At 17:56 Blogger ariandalen said...

Ah, Siri! I had to laugh out loud at that. ::BIG GRIN::

Ms. Fabulous, glad you're feeling better. Since this has moved to a monthly thing from two or three times a year, maybe you should talk with your doctor?

Spiderz. We haz them. Ask me.

So glad to hear your 'voice' and so sorry to heatr the reason for the quiet....May I strongly recommend Christiane Northrup's book, Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom? I like her perspective, and she offers a lot of useful info. Also she has a book in collaboration with Donna Eden, who is an amazing teacher of energy techniques (kind of based on the electro/magnetic/energy body as well as the physical one). Lots of good ideas about self-care and non-allopathic ways of healing. And by all means, Fablo, please consider getting some assistance with the monthly horror. Not a place to suffer without help.

Off soap box now....hugs

Take care of thyself, Emily! Get some rest and remember to eat!

And Quiche, have you gotten a diagnosis? It could be endometriosis and/or fibroids. Two Aleve every 8-12 hours the first day and a half made it bearable for me. If you start when you feel it coming it keeps the inflammation down.

Jane, I am just started on Season 2 of True Blood and based on comments made by others, I am disappointed in the series as opposed to the books although I haven't read the books yet. I said I didn't like how Sookie went from selfsufficient and bright to needy and rather dim once she got together with Bill and I was assured it was not that way in the books.
Adri, got a chuckle from the librarians link, thanks.

At 21:29 Blogger Adri said...

Thank you, Fiends, for all of your good wishes!

Everyone with totlets starting and returning to school-- congratulations and *big hugs*. What a hard and exciting time!

re: bugs, I like bugs when they're over theeeeeeeeeere --->> but not as much when they're on me! But I don't *usually* freak out unless they're flying at my face.

FLUFFY!!! I remain so jealous and yet so happy you had a great time!

Emily-- my sister just had swine flu (it was her first week back to uni) and had to go home for a week. But she's much bettter now!

Lioness-- I read all of the Sookie books in about a month (they're set in MY HOMETOW which, I assure you, never happens) and Sookie goes from being dependent on Bill to being not dependent on him and rather self-sufficient, so I think that's a huge difference. I was only able to get through two episodes of the show before I threw in the towel, though. Eesh.

*drumroll*

My interview went really well! It was actually 8 interviews over the whole afternoon and I felt really positive and confident about it. I got a little hypoglycemic because I forgot to bring a snack, but not bad enough to be incoherent (thankfully, as the Big Boss ended up interviewing me last). Reports from my operatives within the company indicate that all feedback was positive! So I'll do their homework/create a presentation and go in for a second interview! (not official yet though)

Evening all...Feeling lots better, just had a hot tub in fact.

Problem isn't the event itself, but rather about three days before. I'd rather curl up and deal than take drugs, and now I think I've figured out the signs of impending and what it is, I can figure out what to do, if you see what I mean..

New post about something exciting tomorrow! Not sure what, just that it will be exciting,! You've such patient fiends all week...

At 21:43 Blogger AletaMay said...

There are lots and lots of options other than drugs! I have had friends find relief from period problems through acupuncture, certain foods to eat or avoid. There are also medical procedures that can deal with some problems more permanently than drugs can and some of those are not at all invasive.

Very good that you are figuring out ways to deal on your own but there are also a lot of people out there in the world who know lots of helpful stuff. They'd love to help.

go Adri! go Adri! go Adri! WOOOOOO!

That sounds great. Crossing fingers! Cool that you've got operatives inside. hee hee!

Glad you're on the upside, Q. Look forward to Exciting post. :)

Thanks Jane, for the two cents. I suspect we'll watch TB as long as it's interesting, and I might get other books and read 'em as long as they're interesting to me, and fod only knows what order any of it will happen in.

Chill autumn air here, probably headed for all points south and east. Hey, anyone know much about growing dill? I have a volunteer in my patch out back. I had dill in Texas, but it bolted when I wasn't looking. I want to let this one grow as long as possible, but not sure how long to let it go, considering cooler weather approaching in the coming weeks.

At 22:38 Blogger Fluffy said...

Adri - I'm with you on the TB. I made it to three episodes before retiring in disgust. But then I'm a big Charlaine Harris fan...

GOOD LUCK with tomorrow's return engagement.

I need to get me to a beddery.

At 22:58 Blogger AletaMay said...

Oh all the first day of school stories make me feel sappy! (sad and happy and sappy all at once!)

At 23:16 Blogger Beez said...

Feel better Em.

Hera, I have met some Icelandic horses (of course we have 'em around here) Scando-Norski land like we have.

They are tough little guys, very friendly and holy cow! The winter coats they develop!

They remind me a great deal of Welsh mountain Ponies.

At 00:34 Blogger HellZiggy said...

Those dresses all look fabulous, although I must admit to not knowing which of the lovely ladies is Fluffy. :)

It seems weird that people are back to school right now, as it's the first time in a few years I'm not taking any classes. Hope all your children made it off to school tear free!

I don't mind bugs, as long as they aren't crawling on me.

I'm amused that you fiends can keep track of Q's cycles. Heck, I can barely keep track of my own without my iPhone to tell me! :P

Ani: I *LOVE* the fried pickles and wish I could have them more than once a year! Thank you for the vote!

And now I'm off to spread a little H1N1 before bed. (I'm HellZiggy on Twitter too, BTW, for anyone who wants to follow.)

I just followed you Sharon!

And I add my hopes that the first day at schoolers have had a wonderful time.

Hey t'other Sharon, I found you on Twitter, too (I'm NaBean).

I confess to being teary over my kids being back in school. It's not just that they're in school, and that the younger beast is starting Kinder; the older beast had to start a new school for the second year in a row, and he's being an amazing sport about it all. Also, we're still in Canada, and it just still doesn't feel like home, and somehow the kids getting back to school emphasizes this for me. Thanks to all who're sending out soothing vibes for us sending-monsters-to-school folks.

Now, to sleep. Happy middle-o-the-week, all!

Meeting Marjorie and seeing Tori were indeed both great! Took some nice pics, will download them when I have a mo. I went to another gig on Monday over in Leeds and don't seem to have caught up properly on sleep. Feel like a zombie.

Bugs are fascinating when they are at a distance! I can cope with spiders if I'm armed with a glass and some paper. But Daddy Long Legs (crane flies), they FREAK me out. Apparently (I have no memory of this at all) one landed on me when I was about 3. My dad was up a ladder above a window. Hammering. He dropped the hammer when I screamed & smashed the window! Oops.

At 10:21 Blogger Erin Underwood said...

Emily, I'll gladly give you my spiders. :-) Actually, we have some amazing garden spiders. They're so pretty that they don't look real. Those ones I like.

Siri, H1N1... ugh! I work in a college, but I don't really Twitter that much...now I'll do it even less. Let the hysteria begin!!

Adri, that sounds very positive. Good luck, girl!!!

At 10:58 Blogger Marjorie said...

Some pics from the Tori Gig on my flickr.

They're really good photos, better than mine! I blame my camera!

TRYING to do a new post on the Royals but Blogger or this computer is not letting me upload photos. Will try when I get into work.

Which is a funny statement, as I have BEEN working for several hours now, here at home.

At 13:18 Blogger AletaMay said...

I had the same sort of morning. I was late to the office because I started working at home. Not that unusual for me either but funny nonetheless.

At 16:40 Blogger dabbler said...

Catching up... I like spiders, though not in my personal space. the seamstresses were lovely, the pictures are great.

I am making chicken soup, somewhat hampered by the discovery that DD's guest doesn't eat mushrooms, garlic, milk products, things with nuts in, or, usually, onions. The onions were already in the pot when this news was imparted, so she allowed as how she'd be okay with them. Complaining here so I can be polite in 3D....but I had to go buy potato bread, cause all of our breads have either cheese, or large seeds...

At 16:43 Blogger dabbler said...

Mind you, this is a woman in her twenties, not a child. I do respect dietary differences, really. And next time I'll be prepared. But our usual diet frequently has large quantities of all those things she doesn't eat....

I'm tired and it shows.

At 17:40 Blogger Ani said...

Great photo, Fluffy! You look so pleased with it all!

Dabbler--hang in there. Like you say, it's not hard to handle dietary restrictions most of the time, but you need advance notice to be able to accommodate!

Siri--it isn't Twitter, I swear. It's Facebook.

Hey, "The Weepies" came in the mail! Woot!
