Hair! Pianos! And Movies!

Here you go, Little Greedy Fiends, Me in a Scarf, with Hair!Taken, as all photos and movies were tonight, by Cat Mihos, a most patient Friend, and brilliant photographer. She can SHOOT me! (I love this shot! First time I ever posed, sans clothes, if you see what I mean)

Here's one from the back. The colour is Deadly Nightshade, with several shades of real human hair extensions. Hugely expensive, but so way well worth it. I feel like I have the hair I always wanted, was meant to have, and got cheated out of by a genetic lottery.

And onto some movies....Here's the new Piano. My real estate lady who sold me the Spooky House (and hadn't been back since. Heh. She was, eh, surprised, to say the least.) had wanted to give it to me since then, but we never got around to it. By a strange coincidence she is also the person who sold Boss HIS house here many years ago, which I didn't know when I hired her.

By a Stranger coincidence she is also my Bandmate Paul's Sisters, Husbands Mother. Small world, eh?

Well, she brought it over, and Woodsman Hans and two of My Lady's minion's managed to move it in. I thought it might go nicely upstairs, but was over-ruled on that one. Pianos are HEAVY.

It's very old and needs some work, and then I need to learn how to play, but hey, what's a few obstacles? I love it.

Here's a wee movie of the new Romance Room with some Madam Mim....

And I couldn't help but notice some of you were impressed with Nora, the Piano Playing Cat on You Tube. Heh. Boring. I happen to know that Nora has been practicing a long time, and has had a lot of lessons.

Venus, on the other hand, has had the piano for barely 24 hours.

Freaky Venus Gets It.

Love, Hair, Pianos and Kitty,
Lorraine

  1. oooh, don't know whether to wax lyrical on your hair, the photos or Venus's piano talents!

I have hair envy...you look glorious.

  2. Ahhhh. Venus is a star, isn't she?

There aren't superlatives enough for that hair.

    It's Goddess hair. Plain fact.

So good that Kitty's there. We get more stories and pics, right?

    I thought so :D

    Go Venus!

    Well...and of course:

    GO HAIR!!

Deadly Nightshade indeed. It is gorgeous. I'm so totally jealous (having sacrificed that long hair myself as you recall ...)

  4. Wow lady, va va va voooooom!! Hot mama alert!

And the kitties are the cutest. Good placement of the piano. Looks like the romance room may become the musical den.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I think you're right Chantrelle...I can picture a cello sitting there.

    ReplyDelete
  6. What's more romantic that music? And fish in a coffee table.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Love Venus's piano skills!

And, from a purely aesthetical point of view you look absolutely fantastic in the first pic. I am behaving myself and not going to make any comments about how HAWT and SEXY you look. Yup, this is me behaving for once.

    Love love love the hair!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Oh!!! Amazing hair & piano & bengals!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. There. I forgot I could embed th vid's. Fixed that...

Glad you all like the hair. I do not mind comments of hottness you know. Feel free to wax about how hot I am all you like..(Hee-hee)

Yes, MANY more vids and pics form Miss Kitty in the next few days!

We are going to get a Magic vid, and the Royals...

And please notice, Nora uses TWO paws, Venus does FOUR...

  10. good Fod Toni, such restraint *grin*

    ReplyDelete
  11. No restraint here. Holy my gosh, goddess of hotness w/ awesome hair and just a scarf?! Is it getting warm in here?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Robyn, so far beyond warm that the AC just kicked in.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hubba hubba! ;)

    Srsly - deadly gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  14. And not sure why, but Venus really cracks me up. =^..^= Mrow!

Project Runway. Not my first choice, but not bad. Exciting clothes, at least.....

    /hijack of hair/kitty/piano thread

    ReplyDelete
  17. I will once again say that you are one sexy lady. And, you have an awesome scarf. I love the color.

Kitty seems to like Venus's playing better than Nora's. SB is off somewhere in the apartment, so I don't know whether he liked it or not. He's not really a music person.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It was Kitty's scarf and her idea.

Thanks again, she takes HOT photos of me. I am not sure I am hot. I think I just look that way in pictures.

Lys, I love Project Runway. Or any bad TV really. Funny thing about PR is that if I pick the outfit and think COOL! It will be in the bottom three, and likewise the reverse, if I think NO WAY UGH!

    There's the winner...Kid you not.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh dear, I can just see most of the Fiends with this

    ReplyDelete
  20. Lysandwr00:44

Q--I understand! This semester's class schedule was built around not missing Project Runway, as I knew it would be necessary for brain draining :) But my faves, like you, are never the winners.

The finale winner ... even second place...not my choices (though I actually liked SOME of the clothes,it matters more that I wouldn't be able to wear any of them and found them incredibly derivative.) But why does it become SO important!!! Why does Top Chef have me yelling at my television set?

Back to working on Visual Communication final project.
    Huh.

Think there might be a connection there? :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. How could you fail to have musical cats with TWO huge instruments in that room?

    Great pictures of you.
Kitty should take a picture of you demurely wrapped in your bedding and reclining on that grape vine bed. Very bucolic, and it would look great. Just saying.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Aw Venus and Mim.:)

And the hair AND photo are fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nat's right, that *is& a pic that needs to be taken!

The pictures, you, and the hair, are all gorgeous, and I love Venus's dramatic playing. MAybe she & Amanda can play a duet next time Amanda comes by?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anonymous05:22

Perhaps Kitty is such a good photographer because of the excellent (and hot) subject matter. And props for Venus...a natural on the ivorys.

    ReplyDelete
  25. No time, but ticky!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I absolutely love that first photo. Love.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Drop.
    Dead.
    Gorgeous.

Good on you for thwarting the genetic lottery. I feel cheated hair-wise myself. But so far I can't even make up my mind whether I'll try coloring my few thin strands.

I never would have thought Mim would make such cute little sounds. Was she just being demure for the camera?

Venus, on the other hand, is boldly taking the post-modern piano music world by sensation. (Yeah, I don't really know what post-modern means either.)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nice hair!

The AFP show last night was WONDERFUL. We got a great parking space and a table right by the stage. I met Beth and Kayla! I got hugs and gifts! It was marvelous. Lori was flitting all about taking pictures, which I'm sure she'll start posting today or this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Gorgeous hair! Once upon a time I had hair 6" below my waist - there is something undeniably sexy about long hair.

Bengal vids! Such a cute little voice. And musical talent!

Haven't seen the PR finale yet (friend records for me). Who knows what those judges are thinking? Can't wait to see it.

We're off to the vet as Calvin has gone downhill in the last day or so :-( Hope they can make him feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh, poor sweet Calvin. I hope for the best.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Morning!

Bengals tend to talk a lot, the Royals are pretty quiet, but the other three talk up a storm.

At breakfast, Magic sounds hysterical, Venus mournful like she is pretty sure I won't be feeding her, and Mim is pretty chirrpy and conversational.

Venus played again this morning for me!

Dan, glad the show was great! Wish she'd play out here again. Maybe she has no reason to come this way...Heehee. Her shows are pretty darn wonderful tho.

Hair is great. Doing it yourself tho is a bad bad idea. Spend the money. Get it done.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I am looking forward to Lori's pictures. They are always such a treat!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ditto, you look absolutely gorgeous, that hair colour really suits you!

Hope all have fab weekends planned, I'm escaping work scandalously early to go to see the new arrival - but my boss has banned me from doing any more work after the event we organised went off so well yesterday!

Jane, hope Calvin is on the uphill again very soon.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Phoebe has this three-part meow she does a lot. Each part has its own intonation, which makes it sound just like this:

Long, high-pitched meow = "Give me [food, water, attention] now!"
Short, low-pitched meow = "I know she won't give me [food, water, attention]."
Muttering under her breath meow = "She never gives me any [food, water, attention]."

    ReplyDelete
  35. Awesomeness on all fronts.

OSS kinda said exactly what I was going to say..

    ReplyDelete
  36. Just had an email from one of those holiday search websites, to win a tax free shopping trip to "the unofficial capital of the American South, Minneapolis". Hmmmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well, that might take care of the snow...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ah such riches in this blog! What a gorgeous shade of hair, I love it. And piano playing Venus is very impressive although it wasn't clear to me that she knew she was creating that melody.

    ReplyDelete
  39. "Unofficial" doesn't even begin to cover it...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Small world indeed; sounds almost as small as Rhode Island ... maybe even, in some ways, smaller. And I can't play the Venus video here in the library but I will later on. Or maybe tomorrow. Tonight I'll be busy watching Sweeney Todd - yes, the stage play, not the film. A kindly friend invited me to watch it with her in Kingston, RI and also gave me permission to (attempt to) convert her into a Star Trek nerd. We're going to have fun.

Oh, and, of course, the hair. It looks great. It looks beautiful. And Cat is such a wonderful photographer, which of course goes without saying but I wanted to say it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm glad you'll be enjoying many future Bengal concerts! Maybe they will form a choir with Venus as their accompianist.

Kitty asks questions a lot and looks at me imploringly. So does SB, but he talks all the time, so it's hard to tell exactly what he wants. I just assume attention and pats, but it's possible he's just a Chatty Kathy and wants to tell me all about the last two or three minutes I missed in between him talking to me.

    ReplyDelete
  42. My kitties also talk a lot, but nothing like bengals, I imagine. Tickles tells me that she's starving (all the time) or that there's a storm coming and she's afraid. Blue-Eyes wants me to fix what's wrong, but she doesn't always know what's wrong (she always thinks the solution lies outside, even when it doesn't). Sailor asks lolcat questions like "I can haz lap nao, yes?" and "Care up/down the stairz plz?"

    ReplyDelete
  43. One odd thing about PR, is the outfits Heidi Klum wears are very often horrible. Beyond, as in what is she thinking? And I am a huge fan of hers...

    Work...Have a fine day!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Beautiful hair, Ms. Fabulous! And I agree with others: that is one HOT photo!

Lovely playing by Venus. Just think what she'll sound like with practice. I wonder how long it will take before Mim joins her for a duet. Maybe the Minuet?

A Fiend insignia would, of course, involve a skull. BTW, I bought three skull ornaments at Pier 1 last weekend on clearance. Fiends might want to check their local Pier 1 for more, as they are 75% off. CX

Jane, I'm thinking about you and hoping for the best.

Phiala, I'm sure all will go well. You will live through it. I did a feast for 100 around 1992, I think, except it was for Kingdom Arts and Sciences, well before I got my GoA.
Why, yes, I have been crazy for quite a while.

    ReplyDelete
  45. a breadmachine appeared on my doorstep last night. oh the possibilities. what should my first loaf be? and fiendish recommendations from the foodies? .

    ReplyDelete
  46. Almost time for Sweeney. And then a Trekkie all-nighter. It's definitely the weekend, isn't that GREAT?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Methninks tonight should make up for encountering the ignoramus at the library yesterday. I hate when people comment on my weight - sometimes it's, "Ooooh, you've lost weight, how wonderful, the most wonderful! Thing! In the world!" but no, yesterday, this man said, "You look good, you look like you're gaining a pound or two; last year you were really thin ..." I don't care how well he meant. I was eating nothing but carrots at the church suppers, I was thin, and then I was in the hospital. I think he might be able to put two and two together.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Fabulous, gorgeous hair!

Is the tweeted search for a harpsichord for keeps or borrow? I can't imagine where it would fit in the Romance room...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Emily, that sucks. What business of his is it, anyway?

Hope you have fun tonight ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Calvin spending the night at vet...I'll be visiting at 6:30 (just like people hospital :-) to see how he is. Vet thinks she can make him feel better but is not sure...

    Oh dear, when to let him go? I can't even bear to think about it..;

    ReplyDelete
  51. Bread machine on doorstep? Like a secret admirer sort of thing or did you order it? I like the secret admirer idea myself - gift from out of the blue.

    ReplyDelete
  52. *SNUGS* for Jane and Calvin.

    ReplyDelete
  53. If anyone wants to send a random bread machine to MY doorstep...

    ReplyDelete
  54. Jane - Wishing you clarity on what to do and when. And comfort for you, Mr Jane, and Calvin.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks for your well wishes, all of you. I know you completely understand about pets :-)

    ReplyDelete
  56. lol. the breadmaker is from boy's aunt, but it was unexpected early holiday present. we left for dinner at 7:30pm and it was on our doorstep when we returned around 9. also a breadmaker is a weird thing. i don't feel mature enough for a breadmaker. and yes i know maturity has nothing to do with breadmakers, but i don't even own a couch. this feels like jumping the shark.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jane, ask Calvin. He'll tell you when it's time.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hubby had a breadmaker when we met and he was living in a converted garage w/ no windows...maturity? ;-)

I've liked some of the recipes I've tried in mine but nothing has been amazing and perfect bread. I just go through recipes online and try them. There was a good herb-bread one, i'll see if i can find it.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Vampi, follow one of the recipes in the book that came with the bread machine. This will allow you to know how your machine works, where to set the darkness setting, etc. Mine, for some unknown reason, produces a loaf that has a sunken top. Even after it has risen and everything looks fine, it will have fallen by the time I take it out. I have a friend who has the same brand machine, which I think is Oster, who has the same problem. I wouldn't use more than half whole wheat flour, regardless of what the book says. I should note that the bread tastes just fine, it just has a sunken top.

    ReplyDelete
  60. You are so right, he will let me know. I've had to do it 3 times and every time, I knew, with certainty, that it was the right time. Even though I always think I won't be able to do it, I can.

And you know what? He hasn't let me know.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jane ... I didn't even realize you were contemplating letting him go. And I think the other Fiends are right - he will tell you ...

    ReplyDelete
  62. Jane - it's such a tough road and you and the furry one are in my thoughts. I try to remind myself that this is part of the deal, it's something that I agreed to do when the animal came into my life. I know that you know this and are doing the right thing - it just helps me to think of it more as fulfilling an obligation, not as an owner deciding to let my pet go.

    ReplyDelete
  63. (((Jane & Calvin)))
such a tough time, and hard decisions to make. Thinking of you both.

    ReplyDelete
  64. My mother says to me, Calvin is counting on you to do the right thing by him.

    And she's right.

I'm just not sure how long I can watch him be sick from either the chemo or the cancer. This may be a bump of feeling poorly and he may rebound.

    Oh well...

    ReplyDelete
  65. This may sound trite, but for my money the fact that you are making the decision based on the cat's well-being - not cost, not difficulty of care, not you wanting to have him around longer - means that whichever decision you make is the right one because it was made for the right reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Well, that is the thing, the cat's well-being. It really is the only thing, at the end of the day.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hugs for Jane and Calvin. Very tough. Hope your visit this evening is a good one.

Wow. Q. Hot stuff! Lovely photos. Lovely hair. Lovely scarf, yeah, scarf.

    The vids are great.

It has been a lovely sunny day here in the "unofficial capitol of the Southern US" (WTF does that mean??)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Gee, maybe the "travel" place really meant: Unofficial Capital of Southern Canada? ::snort::

    ReplyDelete
  69. Jane & Calvin *hugs*

You love him, so yes- you'll know and so will he. Doesn't make it any easier on us except the knowing that we did our best for them.

Adri..Arwen...Ah feel mah inna Southern Belle coming to the surface.

    Be afraid.Be very afraid.

    ReplyDelete
  70. ((((((((Jane & Calvin))))))))

I think Arwenn said it perfectly.
    Thinking of you all.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Just got back from seeing him and he is feeling so much better already. Perky and purry and grumpy at the vet techs. That's my boy.

    ReplyDelete
  72. happy dance for Calvin

    ReplyDelete
  73. The hair is truly beautiful. It's a great video of Venus on the piano. She has a nice touch, and clearly knows this. It's amazing she doesn't leap off the first time she hears a note.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Houseguest Caitlen and I just sat in Magic's room and played featherstick for an hour!

First time he has ever played, or come out of his cave, while someone else was there.

    He was so happy.

    I nearly cried.

    ReplyDelete
  75. He played with someone else?

    YAY!!! Go Magic!!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I am a bear of very little brain tonight. So I spent some time rotating photos right-side-up in iPhoto. While simultaneously reliving FiendFest. Ah me *sigh* Wonder-Full days.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hooray for a playful, not fearful, Magic!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anonymous21:27

I love the hair! How fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  79. And he has you to thank for his freedom from social anxiety! You should buy a hotel and name it "FabLo's Home for Wayward Bengals and Fiends. It can be a safe place for bengals and fiends to go when they need some time away from the world at large.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Damn that first shot is HOT! I love the new shade. It looks Absolutely Fabulous on you. And Venus is much cooler than that boring other cat.

    ReplyDelete
  81. oooh. we got the asifa screener for coraline. the packing is nice. eco pack with great pictures and a signed letter from Mr. Selick. (boy is in asifa because of dreamworks. he gets to vote for the Annie awards) first screeners of the season. fingers crossed for boss and mr. selick.

    ReplyDelete
  82. well i'im clearly a buzz kill on a friday night. thought quiche and madds and others might enjoy pre-gaga lady gaga

    ReplyDelete
  83. Magic playing!!!

That's so wonderful. So much patience and love paying off. It's almost unbelievable when you remember how he was when he first came to you, and even when we saw him in June.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Morning!

Vampi, you weren't a buzz kill! I was already asleep or I would have loved both posts.

Thanks for the wishes, yes, Annie's are first...Not something I talk about, all this upcomming awards things, but don't think it's not on people's minds. Oh yes.

Jane, sending you hugs, had to make a decision last month, like you may be facing. Happy to talk to you and tell you some things I learned, if you want to drop me an e-mail, it's a pretty hard one.

Is it too early to wake Kitty up and make her take vid's of the Bengals??? We have a pretty long day and ought to be getting into work shortly...

    ReplyDelete
  85. Venus s up and ready! Just brought me featherstick. Hint. Subtle.

Oh, hey fiends, did you see Kitty's Neverwear blog this morning?

    http://kittysneverwear.blogspot.com

The Jim Lee prints are on sale a couple more days, and the site is back up.

You really really want one of these 100 words prints. They are limited and will go fast.

I will tell you here too, only for those reading comments on here, that it IS a song, Chris Ewan has recorded it, (perhaps with my humble self) and who can say when it will be released? WInk.

    Get the print.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Q thanks for the kind words re Calvin - I can drop you an email but I'm wondering if what you learned wouldn't be helpful to everyone here? We all go through the same sad process when we have pets.

Magic playing? That is wonderful! He must think he's in cat heaven.

The print and the poem are lovely. A good friend's mother died last night and it seems appropriate for today...

    ReplyDelete
  87. Well, it might well, perhaps I shall do a blog about it, but not on a saturday morning, I think.

I think tho I will say, making the decision to help our pets out of this world, is the last, kindest thing we can do for them, and we owe them that for all the wonderful things they have done for us, when it is their time.

They get what anyone gets. They get a lifetime.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Not a blog for a Sat morning, I agree. And you know what? I don't need it today.

He is doing much better and will be spending another night at the vet (they're wonderful) because they want to see him keep food down for 24hrs before they send him home. I agree, hate to be at home with him, trying to get him to eat and watching him not be able to...

Am eagerly anticipating Bengal videos :-)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Sweeney was great. The guy who played Sweeney was ridiculously bad at acting but the rest of the cast was great ... mostly. Okay, most of the cast, anyway. I have never seen a musical. Not even a musical film. I am now converted into a musical nut, like the friend who took me to the play. And I succeeded in making her a Trekkie.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I feel like this is the calm before the storm. All the guests and Kitty too, and Boss, even the dog, have all departed the house, sent, or bent upon various errands.

I can sit here, alone, talking with my Fiends.

How good at this organizing things AM I? No rush, no hurry, all in hand.

(ANswer: DAMM I am VERY good.)

    ReplyDelete
  91. We do have vid by Kitty of all FIVE Bengals doing amazing Bengal things! Including for the first time ever, MAGIC!!!!!!

Will post as I can...Promise. Kitty is off on a mad fireworks buying expedition.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Yep, you're damn good at organizing things. But even more impressive to me, you're damn good at organizing people. That's a whole 'nother kettle of fish.

Not having as productive a Saturday as the last one I worked. I doubt that any troublesome series will be pwnd today.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Um, fireworks? Is this a belated Guy Fawkes celebration? Or a "Woo-hoo! We got rid of the Puritans!" anniversary in England?

    ReplyDelete
  94. First ever Magic Vid's UP!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Those shots are amazing - your hair is stunning.

Good luck with the piano! I also have a very old one that needs work - I was told it would cost £3000 to fix professionally and that it would not be worth the money, so why not get a new one?
Because it's 100 years old and beautiful and has candlestick holders on the front. I have started trying to fix it myself. Most felts already done. I will have it sounding glorious within a year.

    ReplyDelete
  96. [sends scratches-of-choice to Calvin]

Lora Brody's book for bread machines gives recipe variants depending on which machine you have. Check your library, maybe, then make bread, or pizza dough, or some more bread....

The new hair looks gorgeous! I'm very envious.

Also, the hot photos? Are hot because of the subject matter. I think it's one of those times when what the photo shows is really there -- but it's very surprising becase it's not quite what you expected (or ever see yourself). Lorraine, let's face it, you're something of a Babe.

Trying to think of a music parallel... when someone else mixes your music, what they come up with may be pretty different than what you thought you'd get. Still doesn't make the different stuff BAD, in fact it may be quite good, highlighting bits that you normally wouldn't. Kitty & her camera clearly find some pretty cool images of you.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Still not up to taming feral monograpic series today. So I'm working on a new blog, which is temporarily tied to my (much-neglected) personal one. I'm tired of waiting for "official" documentation web space, so I'm stealth blogging. Once I get more content there, I'd recommend it for the insomniacs among us. It'll lull you into sleep post haste. Meanwhile, I get to play with design. A very Saturday kind of thing to do.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I played the piano video for my husband. He said that even though she's only had the piano for one day she's already better than most of the Avant Garde crap from the 70's. LOL

    ~Sharon

    ReplyDelete
  99. I loved this post! You look very sexy in the pix, your hair is fab & I love the Bengal vidz. Congrat's on the piano & on the hair you've always wanted :-)

    ReplyDelete
  100. wooo hah! You look great! um. and the hair, too. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  101. I know I usually just read and don't comment, but I had to say something today. You look absolutely gorgeous, lady!! And hurray for the piano! I miss mine ever so.
