Yup. It IS a Teapot!

Remember back during the Holidays, and I posted some pictures of the Very Strange Gifts I had received? (A flowered dustpan, measuring tape, scrub brush and calculator, ALL flowered?)

I got a lot of really wonderful love and support, and some really fine art, but one of the best things to come out of it has to be, yes, the Abominable Mrs. Teapot. Our new friend Silke, Twittered me "At least you didn't get THIS!"

I traded her the measuring tape on the spot. (need to send that, she mutters)

How could you not love the Abominable Mrs. Teapot?

She hasn't made it to the Spooky House yet, still in the office, but she will come home soon. (going to be a tea party no one invited will ever forget, I can tell you that.)

(Thankyou Silke!)

Since I know you lot are Fiends for little details, yes, that IS a new Dr Who calendar in the background.

Over in the upper right hand corner of the photo, is a Kyle Cassidy photo of the Boss holding kitty Zoe. Zoe is about 14 now, and blind. She's been having some trouble this past week, and a trip to the vet today resulted in a Strange Xray. And then a really quick trip down to the U of MN vet clinic, where she is now.

Bit of surgery tonight, might be something she swallowed that is stuck, might be something else. Not sure yet.

But I thought she should have her picture up tonight.

Love, Tea, and Zoe,
Lorraine

Love the teapot. I can imagine many great uses for it!

I've had a busy few days and seem to be spinning a bit in life. Wendy yay on the Financial Aid. Mine is a mess right now and I am having a hard time doing what I need to do to fix it. Ah Life.

  13. That is most definitely a teapot!

Miro's paws and claws, and my fingers are crossed for Zoe. (And her humans, who are no doubt trying not to stress.)

  14. Oooh! Poor Zoe! I really hope it;s just a big old hairball and not anything more serious.
Please let us know any news when you get them?

That teapot...it's like a person, with Opinions. Like a kind of teapot you invite to your tea party as a Guest.

  15. You should still have tons of Zoe pictures on your computer, somewhere. My poor little purring friend (and erstwhile bed fellow)! She is a most unlucky cat. Give her love for me.

As for the tea pot... What can I say? Its a tea pot, therefore good by definition. But what could "they" have been thinking about?

And poor Zoe. Will keep fingers crossed for her.

  19. I hope Zoe is okay. She is my favorite.

Also, I think I almost witnessed a police shootout on the streets of New Orleans. And, when I say almost witnessed, I mean I was about twenty feet away and had a cop car miss hitting me by a foot.

I heard a whump sound as the police were yelling at some guy "Get down on the ground! Get down on the ground now!" and then my friend and I booked it down a couple blocks and called a cab. No more wandering the French Quarter at 1 a.m. on Wednesday nights!

Tomorrow I'm going to have my fingerprints taken so I can go to my substitute orientation at 10 a.m.

  20. Heh, I just had to read that out to Pete Wendy...exciting and scary as hell at the same time! Very wise to get the hell out of there I think.

Paws crossed at the Blue House for sweet Zoe.

  22. Oh no, Quiche I just saw Boss's tweet about Zoe and the tumour...fingers crossed that something can be done, and all the furries here are sending healing licks to her and her humans.

  23. I'm saddened to read about Zoe. Here's hoping it's benign. :(

And the teapot. Um... Well, I'd call that spooky, all right.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Best thoughts I have for Zoe. Teapot might be worth making into a t-shirt. I bet your boss could come up with a brilliant caption.

  25. I hope all goes well with Zoe. And, um, the teapot. It would give me nightmares. BIG TIME.

  26. Poor Zoe, hope you get some good news.

So the Teapot Women has had her head squashed by (is that) a bird??!

We received a giant Santa Claus nutcracker figure for Christmas, its supposed to crack nuts between its jaws - now that gave me nightmares. B/F's remote control dalek had to guard it so it didn't come and get me in the middle of the night.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hellie, I do believe Tchaikovsky was also plagued with such a nut cracker. Eeeks.

Actually the tea pot looks like it might prowl around at night and drop poison in the ears of the sleeping...

  28. Thank you. Had a long talk with the vet last night, and then Boss. We will talk with the Doctors again today, but it doesn't look real good.

We all agree it;s quality of life at this point. Benign or malignant, and how long would she be likely to live in either case, and HOW would she live, are the important things.

Could she have a quick op then a nice few years yet? Good. Are we going to keep trying and trying, as she gets sicker and sicker until she dies after much suffering? No.

She's been good to us and we owe it to her to let her go in peace and dignity if this is her time, no matter how hard it is for us. It's something we have to do for our pets.

Ain't fun, but she trusts us, and we agreed to care for her many years ago, and this is part of it.

I'll keep you posted, and let you know after we talk to the Dr's, but last nights talk was not an optimistic one.

I can't imagine losing a 3rd cat in such a short time. I am sending you guys SO MUCH LOVE.

  30. Poor Zoe. I miss her. I had a look at the pictures I took of her and started crying. So much love in that kitty...
I shall hug my kitties on her behalf tonight.

I thought that teapot was fab when you first traded for it! IMHO you got the best of that deal, but, as long as Silke's happy with her tape measure. ^_^

So sorry to hear about Zoe, it's just not been a good year for elderly kitties has it. Will keep her in my thoughts.

A friend of mine asked me if i had heard of an old wive's tale where when something bad happened (death, in my case divorce, etc...) in a house that a cat would turn up on your doorstep and if you kept it and took care of it Good Things would come. (She told me this because Hei showed up in the woods behind my house the week the divorce was final & it took me a week to get ahold of her!)

So, since bosses kitties are leaving does this mean that Good Things have happened in his house. Really good things and they feel they're okay to move on? Just a way of looking at it that my cheer ya'll up, god's know it sounds like you're gonna need it.

Love & Hugs to you, boss and the kitties (oh well and i guess to Cabal too....)

  32. Love to Zoe and all her family.

  33. THank you all, and yes, Merlin, that is a good way of looking at it.

We did lose Pod and Hermoinie, and now this, but one thing to think on, is they get what anyone gets, they get a lifetime. The are/were very old.

Pod and Hermoinie started life in a NY shelter. Zoe was a barn brat we saw something in. They have had the time cats get, and been very happy.

  34. It is very true that they lived full loved lives. And quite frankly were very lucky to have wound up with such wonderful humans. But it's still hard. And I wish I knew some super secret thing that would help make it all easier.

    (((LOVES)))

  35. Good thoughts for Zoe. I am so happy you, boss, and Vet have talked and are of one mind for Zoe. Quality is the key no matter how sad it makes the humans.

LOVE the tea pot, looks like Angela Lansbury in one of her roles was the inspiration.

  36. If there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that you will, between you, do the best you can for Zoe, so that she can go quickly and painlessly if it is her time, and remain at home & being loved for as long as she can be comfortable that way.

  38. A cat couldn't do better than to trust you and Boss. Still sending hopes that she can have a few more happy and comfortable years with you. Love to all of you.

Oh, Quiche....I'm so sorry. But Zoe has the best people making these decisions for her. Just unfortunate for you that you have to do it. Much love, hugs, and benign thoughts...

I cuddle Angus every day...he tucks me into bed at night and doesn't leave until he thinks I'm asleep. Ah, my Catlove--I dread such discoveries and decisions as you are having to deal with right now.

  42. Hi Siri! It wasn't too bad. I did go to a workshop on Friday that will help me get where I want to go with technical skills. I understand data. I want to better understand systems that work with data. The rest of the conference was mostly same-old, same-old. The highlight was meeting Jody. Fiendmeets make everything better!

Now I'm crazy busy training a new staff member. This is the position that was frozen for about four months, so I'm glad to get it filled permanently again. Noe to hire a new cataloger...

Missed the whole last thread. I know the big news from that, but did I miss any major Fiend updates?

  43. Hugs to you, boss and family Lorraine...it's been a rough year for kitties :(

Ben's school was cancelled today due to power outages...i probably won't have much time on the computer.

Now, time for breakfast and tea!

For now I am going to cuddle in my floor bed in the Romance Room with Venus and Mim, with Magic yowling in his room.

Oh, and I bought Crab Island tonight. I am building them a home of their own.
