Blogging and Thankyou's....

Good Morning!!

One of the last things I told Kitty last night before sleepily stumbling back to Bengals was about blogging. Just do it says I. Not hard. Don't wait. Just write something.

Shoe may be on the other foot now. Actually, I have not yet achieved shoes. Or much in the way of clothing. Might as well use the word NAKED here at the start, and make things more exciting. Even more exciting tho, is that Kitty DID do a blog in the wee hours of the morning. And since she says most of what I would have, AND she has pictures, HERE you go!

One thing she didn't talk about, mostly as she wasn't there, is Octocon. Looking back at my Ireland posts, I realized I nearly completely forgot to mention the convention! OPPS! I loved that Con. I loved all the people on the committee.

I want to thank them specially for having me over and say, if they ever invite you to come, SAY YES. You will not regret it. They know what they are doing, and they have a LOT of fun doing it. They treat their guests well. "Well" meaning they go out of their way to make sure you will have WHATEVER you want.

(Those they did NOT in fact, completely re-do their programing schedule on Sunday so I could go and meet Irish Roller Girls and Skate with them. I forgive them that, since I didn't bring this up until late Saturday night.)

I loved them, and everyone I met there. You know who you are. Thank you!

Now I am off to work, to wake up a house full of people (If you read Kitty's blog, you know who they all are) who stayed up far too late I am sure, and take them all off to House on the Rock for the weekend.

But I shall leave you with a Lovely Halloween Photo. I call it: "Roller Girl Eaten By Zombies At Grave While Dog Poses Calmly For Pictures"

Love and Blogs,
Lorraine

  12. Jess - a leaf based economy is completely reasonable. All you have to do is start trading with caterpillars.

    I got the job!!!!

i told my boss. that was actually kind of tougher than i expected. although i haven't been happy, i was getting adjusted to his management style and we were working well together.

so boo i'm not at HotR, but *Squee* my job situation is starting to settle down

    ReplyDelete
  14. Good job (((((vampi)))))! I sort of had the same problem when I quit the last job, even though it was horrible and I hated my boss. Now the hard part is over!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hurray for Vampi!

Have fun everyone at hotr! Wish I were there.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Congrats on the job Donielle!

Fun will be had at hotr...there's no doubt, just be sure to keep us updated or send pics!

Next up? Carving a punkin and watching scary movies...I LOVE this time of year!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Three cheers for Vampi!

I'd like an economy based on leaves too, I have lots to spare, unlike the paper and metal stuff. and what would be the best about it? We can say that money DOES grow on trees.

Have fun at HOTR lucky Fiends who will be there...

  18. Have we all become so jaded that no one questioned/noticed the fact that my skull was full of candy in vast and far-flung points of the globe?

    No wonder I've had headaches.

Nano starts in 2 days. That's my reward for not HOTRing.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Your headache may be explained by the fact that your skull is full of wool here Siri...

    ReplyDelete
  20. No, that explains my mornings at work, Sally - I can tell people now that in Tomorrowland, my skull is full of wool, and I can't think. I love that!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Here at HOTR Q's boss just read to a LOT of people in a rather cold tent... and then answered questions cogently and entertainingly. He did point out Lorraine in the front row, wrapped up in a pile of coats....

I met Fluffy, (who recognized me by my hair, and, once she said something, I recognized her by her tiara!) And I am now back in my room trying to get my feet to warm up...even my cashmere socks weren't up to the task. Brrr.

Panels tomorrow... and then the costume party.

    ReplyDelete
  22. YAH, thanks for update Dabbler.

Jess, its just as well we haven't combined our wool and candles, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wool and fire - I've got no chance with you fiends.

    Night, Fiendom!

  24. vampi!!!!!! fanfrakkingtastic!

hee - i love that last pic and its caption, too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. and jess - i am thinking, "Amityville" is not my favorite scary book, just the one horror book that has scared me most. should i rethink that? if there's time?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for the HotR update, Dabbler.
I hope all HotR fiends are taking lots of pictures of each other and the place. Did you all see Kitty's new post?

    ReplyDelete
  27. And it's Hellie's birthday today! Happy firbday, Hellie!

  30. Yay for HOTR fun. I am in boring RI doing boring stuff but living in my happy brain-world. OH and seeing Linc Chafee this afternoon with William. Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Fluffy, here! I have had a bit to drink, and haven't seen Q or Dabbler tonight; although I have seen Chantrelle et famille - they look fab. Going to sleep soon since we has to get up early to pack and go the six miles to the HOTR to get Mr. G to sign **one** book apiece (not that I am complaining that the HOTR peeps couldn't mention that fact in the pre-event info...)

I did take a bazillion photos and will post same asIamsober.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ohhhh, can't wait to see the photos. Have a nice deeeeeep sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am so looking forward to seeing all your pics, and hearing about it all.

    Meanwhile, Siri's Skull with Eyeballs

  34. Wow, what a night.

The costumes were amazing. The HOTR people were all so wonderful. As were the attendees. The HOTR put a lot of faith and trust in this crowd and as far as I could tell, there were not incidents. People got to wander through the attraction all night, with drinks, in costume...i felt like we were breaking some rules but we weren't!

I lost ben and ralph for a while and had to wander around asking, "Has anyone seen Cthulhu and a little Black Knight?" And they ran into Boss and asked if he'd seen me (which he hadn't, i didn't find him last night) and eventually we had a family reunion by the carousel :)

Ben didn't want to leave, we stayed and wathched this all girl band called Little Red Foxes play in the organ room until midnight. He's still out but I have to get him up to get to our assigned signing time at 9. Luckily it's just down the hall and he can go in his jammies ;-)

I have many pictures but won't be able to post until we get home wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sounds wonderful, and I look forward to seeing the pictures.
Did you see the video someone posted of Neil on the carousel?
    Here

    ReplyDelete
  36. that carousel is the stuff of nightmares. it's even more frightening tan i thought.

i'm glad everyone had a great time at hotr. i watched a bit of the panels because danguy is superawesomefantastic and had them streaming.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Happy Halloween! I think I'm just going to be having fun watching "Sherlock Holmes" on Masterpiece tonight. Ben and Jack and William are going trick-or-treating ... some of you guys might see their costumes on Facebook ... Ben's is the best ...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Change of plans. Disappearing to Providence.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Happy Halloween!

I was an undead Betty Suarez at work today. I might have pics up at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sounds like everyone had a good time at HOTR? I just got back from WFC, also a fabulous time, and am exhausted but must find the energy to finish an article that's due tomorrow.

Unless I get up early? Might actually be a better strategy.

    ReplyDelete
  41. HOTR was a once-in-a-lifetime amazing event...Poor Boss had 259 costumes to judge. I didn't even bother competing. Some fabulous ones.

Back in a posh hotel in Minneapolis, propping open eyelids to go and get some food before sleeping late tomorrow. I promise I'll write more about it...but not in my sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  42. phi, wasn't ticia at wfc? did you two hook up?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yes, Ticia was there. We ran into each other regularly and sat together in a panel this morning, but were both very busy. We didn't even get to drink together! Very sad.

    ReplyDelete
  44. i love the thought of simultaneous fiends gathering. :)

    resistance is futile.

also making squish soup and trying this whole mise en place thing. lots and lots of bowls holding stuffs now i an cook. hopefully this will make the "OMG WHRE IS _____" not happen.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Just to note to mention that my current lack of posting is not due to rampant jealousy at missing out on the HotR (well, maybe just a little), but looming publication deadlines at work. Argh.*

    *I'm blaming the hobbits.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Got to see "Metropolis" for my Halloween fun last night; it was amazing! The music and makeup in particular were like ... unbelieveable. Yay for independent cinemas in Providence ... the only wonderful part of RI ... for me, anyway ...

    ReplyDelete
  47. That is, PROVIDENCE is wonderful. The cinemas are great but Providence is a great city, I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. GOOD MORNING FIENDS!!!!!!

Back from Adventures and yes, we have a LOT of pictures and VIDEO!

Me, Boss, Joan of Dark and Dan Guy all on the Carousal and MY FIRST ROLLER DERBY skating! On vid!

    An many pics.

House full of people here tho, that Joan of Dark and I are actually leaving on their own (Two of them are Dill and Kerrie, I fear this) but it's a riding day for me...

But there will be new post today.

    Adventures. Lots of them.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Just saying, Quiche, you are fully as awesome in person as in print! As is Boss, and the other fiends I got to meet. How cool to have no sense of strangeness (well, the awkward kind, anyway) when meeting a bunch of people face-to-face for the first time. Loved it!

    ReplyDelete
  50. We're finally in a hotel with proper internet!

Pictures still have to wait as they are on my camera and this is hubby's work computer so I can't really upload them on to here. I think there are probably at least 300 cameras with pictures of hubby's costume. Cthulhu was quite popular. As was Ben as the Black Knight. The funny thing is we kept running into our costume pairs. Cthulhu into other Cthulhu. Mini-black knight into full sized black knight and I was Lamia from Neverwhere and kept running into Islington.

Wish I could have spent more time with you Quiche but you were just having too much fun with your roller girls which I can't fault you for ;-) Got to hang with Kitty for quite a while while searching for Boss and crew. Got to meet Cat which got confusing when talking about Kitty or Cat....then add Fluffy into the mix. LOL! Speaking of, Fluffy made me a GORGEOUS tea cozy! I can't wait to get home and use it!

I am now rambling. That's what happens when you deprive me of real internet for days. Can't type that much on my phone!

Can't wait to see the new blog post and pictures!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Dabbler, how long are you around? I am so busy because I got an election work gig (which I both really needed and feel great about doing!) but maybe we could find a bit of time for a cup of coffee or some such?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Sorry, Cat is an acquaintance of neil's who i've heard of but never crossed paths with. She's not an assistant. But is there to make life confusing. Cat, Kitty, Fluffy...hubby asked if Bouncy and Flouncy were coming too :P

    ReplyDelete
  53. I hope everyone at HoTR mentioned that FabLo has a nice ass. These protocols are important!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I completely forgot our code. I failed. Dabbler apparently remembered--complete with ass-smack ;-)

My excuse is that I first saw our fearless leader at breakfast, pre-caffiene. I was lucky to produce any language at all.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ha, then she was seated so you could not envisage the splendour...

    ReplyDelete
  56. very good point! She was seated...see, pre-tea that didn't even dawn on me. She was also surrounded by a table full of derby girls.

    ReplyDelete
  57. ohh ohh can i be boucny?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Can I be Flouncy then pretty please Jess?(Cos, ya know, dragons are flouncy sorts of creatures) I must say, Bounce n Twirl sounds like a good name for Vampi...cannot wait to see all the photos and videos.

Oh, I just thought of something. Our own special Fiends dance. Bounce and twirl, cat stance, rawr and claw, arse-smack, flounce.

    ReplyDelete
  59. *groan*

    Too late to the party?

    ReplyDelete
  60. i effing love being twirly!!!!!

    *twirls*

    (nice ass)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Dabbler, that's exactly how I felt meeting fiends!

Looking forward to seeing your blog & pics & video, Quiche (and Chantrelle & Fluffy & Dabbler & KittyCat)

I went out tonight for a meal with Cheryl, followed by a lively little Q&A with Iain (M) Banks. Lots of fun, if acluttle late for a Monday night!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Derby! With Picture and VIdeo!

    New post is UP!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Aleta, I'd have loved that, but just saw yout message now I'm back home. We ended up at the Russian museum and the zoo, plus a return to the Happy Gnome. Can't keep mark away from a place with 70 beer taps!

We loved Minneapolis, and HOTR. We'll be back!

    ReplyDelete
  64. is it too early to start planning the next fiend gathering?
