Another Afternoon For Way Too Many Bengal Pics!

Summer is here! Yes, yet again, no spring. Might have missed it. Hard to say, goes by fast in my part of the world. Being so nice, I took the Bengals, Freaky Venus and Madame Mim out for the first leash walk of the year. Pre-tornado sirens. Barely. Love this time of year, as I said, things change fast.

Funny writing this, watching the storms develop. It was all sunny and fine for a while there. Here's Venus, on the now snowless lawn. Lovely, isn't it? I really want to figure out that whole GREEN thing for the lawn this summer. Generally, I am bad at such things, but every spring, I get hopeful again that perhaps I've developed some latent gardening skills.

Mim blissing out on the sidewalk. I really want to build (ok, HAVE built, yet another skill that is beyond me) an outdoor cat run for them this year. Mim wants OUT so badly, and it's just not safe here in town for Leopards to be running about. If I built a big one tho, I could have trees, and grass, and a sort of little jungle area for them. They would like that.

Venus didn't want to be out long, and also, leash walking two Leopards by yourself is not as easy as it sounds. She didn't APPROVE of Mim's running about and went back in early. But she watched, disapprovingly, with Magic.

Actually, Venus is not in a good mood at all today. I moved the table back into the dinning room, now that I don't need it for a Derby track. Between moving furniture, Being Out and thunder, her world has gone all wonky.

Magic can't go outside yet, not sure I'd want to try and get a harness on him, claws or no. He's come a long way, but he's not ready for Out yet. Don't know if there are many F1's brave enough for Out, they tend to be timid (If you're new here, an F1 Bengal means the Dude is mostly Asian Leopard Cat, and not much domestic)

More Venus, and happier now, I believe. Feathers she likes and approves of. And everything just went all green here. Not the lawn, kind of everything else. So, perhaps this is all for now....

If you want me, I'll be watching some storms...

Love and Bengals,
Lorraine

And Magic, in particular, has such beautiful markings.

  2. I love the leopard pics! Sooooo cute!!

  3. Ah. Venus and her cleansing featherstick.

The Storm Gods have arrived here. Praise be.

    ReplyDelete
  4. hooray for spring and being able to go OUT.

  5. hooray for spring and being able to go OUT.

  6. Ummmm Quiche? Are you OK?

What non-midwesterners may not know is that when it "goes all green" bad things are afoot. Bad stormy things - not just rain and lighning and thunder, but tornados and hail and strong straight line winds.

    Ummmm Quiche?????

    ReplyDelete
  7. The QUeen is fine. She just went to kill Birdchick.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Oh. OK then. As long as she didn't blow away in a tornado.

    I guess....

    ReplyDelete
  9. Siri, I thought the same thing - green light/skies outside is BAD and means GET TO THE BASEMENT NOW.

Venus and Magic look like they think Mim is mad by wanting to be outside. They just don't know what fun is!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. There were tornados, but I'm such a Weather Girl, I knew where they were, and where they were going, not to worry.

I really like extreme weather (go figure) only ever headed to the basement once.

And yes, I did kill The Birdchick. She deserved it, hijacking my Twitter account. Hmmph.

    ReplyDelete
  11. *sigh*

Such a beautiful way to start my day.

Oh PHEW, you're still in one piece.

We don't take our cats out but we did throw open the windows. Ahhh. 70 degrees and breezy. Our cats have squeezed their butts onto our tiny windowsills and are soaking up the fresh air.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Popping in for the briefest of moments. Love the leopard pics, gorgeous creatures that they are.

    ReplyDelete
  14. And tick (so out of the habit, sorry!)

    ReplyDelete
  15. LOVE the Bengal pics! Also thoroughly enjoyed reading as Birdchick hijacked your account and you went to Kill. it was quite amusing...you know, since it wasn't *my* account. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  16. Mim blissing out on the sidewalk is exactly how I feel after a long hard winter.

Warm, blustery day here. Got out in the sun and down to the water. Bliss! Kite surfers everywhere. Many happy dogs at Dog Beach. (No leopards tho...)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hubby was just out walking the blind kitty, SueSue. We don't have her on a leash tho, just walk behind her while she tries to figure out her bearings. We're currently building a sunroom with a swim spa on it. They've removed her back porch so she just sits at the back door asking to go out. It's really sad.

I can't imagine how you keep two together? Glad you're getting warmer weather.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Magic is shy but curious so might welcome a protected outdoor track. Especially if he sees that his beloved Mim is enjoying the out bit.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Why am I so sleepy this morning???Oh. Monday. Right. Sigh.

Ah well, My Little Pony will no doubt wake me up. Along with Joan of Dark coffee. I'll have a brain again in a couple hours.

    I hope.

I am liking it being light-ish at 6 tho, makes it way easier to leave my lovely bed.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Reminds me of the Garrison Keilor line about spring in Lake Woebegone. That it's so nice they try to have a picnic that day.

It was summer in Chicago yesterday too. I did not approve. It's back to spring today. Much better.

Still quite sore. I was just telling Marjorie that I'm not sure I would have signed up for Derby Lite if I had known how little I would remember how to skate. But I'm kinda glad I didn't know; and I'm determined to give it a real try. But I really hope I remember how to stay on my feet soon.

  21. monday. uff da.

spring here still! so, so nice. still snow to melt, but the ratio of snow-covered to clear ground is now in favour of the clear ground. \o/ snow forecast for later in the week, but i tell myself, it'd be a spring snow.

went for a walk Sat. it wiped me out. but i'm done for the month, right?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh they look so happy and active. You have done wonders with them little devils.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Those cats look so cool next to the bright feathers on the floor.

    ReplyDelete
  24. OMG. I am dying of cuteness.

Wait.. no. That sounds like I'm the one who is cute. LOL!

I am dying from THEIR cuteness! :-)

That sounds better. Boy, I love those kitties.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm so happy. It's sunny and WARM in Boston. Loving it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sunny and, dare I say, nearly HOT outside of Philly. 83F.....and then back down to the 60s for the rest of the week. Might be some excitement getting there, though we usually don't get the really fierce stuff like the Midwest does.

    Love those leopards.

Might not want to kill Birdchick too hard. Don't you need her for all those bee installations?

Now I have a mental picture of hanging clouds of bees in a gallery. An interactive, sound and tactile exhibition....

    Sigh. Back to work.

  27. Buzzz, Meworrr, Tick

    ReplyDelete
  28. Lovely pics. Hee hee Venus does look haughty in the pic with Magic!

Zumba finally made it to my town! Had my first class tonight. I flailed quite a lot, and went the wrong way even more. It was brilliant! Can't wait til the next one :o)

    Tired now though. Night night.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Go Hellie! It gets easier, trust me, a month from now you will be rocking it so cool!

Little Evil took me running tonight. We ran TO the hills, about a mile away, then ran UP the hills. And then back. She killed me. Finished up with five minute abs which is an evil 5 min to be sure.

    Feels great.

Can I go to my bed now?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes, Quiche. If you haven't already, you may go to bed.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love cat posts...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Could have slept LONGER, early is early no matter when one goes to bed, I say. AH well, so it goes.

Going to be lovely today, and I see Little Evil again tonight, can't ask for more.

    ReplyDelete
  33. none of my previous lawns could ever be arsed with the green thing, either. Or... there was that one that 78,6% moss. That looked green. As long as you didn't study it to closely.

The one I have now isn't a lawn at all, cause I cobbled it. Victory! Yeah!

    ReplyDelete
  34. If I had half your commitment, Lorraine, I'd be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't have time to get caught up, but I miss the chatty comments in my inbox!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous11:25

They are so damn beautiful. I never get tired of Bengal pictures. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I too never tire of Bengal pics!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I keep meaning to buy Serious Black a leash...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Stupid SUCK wasp flew down my pants stinging me horribly. Ripped off my clothes and ran naked, screaming thru the house.

    There. That's that story.

I think I am done with work for today. Napping until gym. Not happy.

    ReplyDelete
  40. WHAT! OMG! That's terrible! I'm so sorry.

I hate wasps with a passion.

    :-(

    ReplyDelete
  41. OWIE!!! And Wasps suck!!! You not only deserve a nap, you deserve ice cream! And ponies!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm not surprised. I'd be VERY unhappy in those circumstances, too.
    Bad wasp.

    ReplyDelete
  43. You lead such an "interesting" life... You sound ready for a pause.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Disapproving Venus is disapproving. Magic, "Venus isn't happy, but it's really comfy laying here by the window."
    Mim, ::roll, roll, roll::

Hi Nick Zimmerman, Lisana, and choochoo! Welcome to Fiendom! If there were any questions before, they are now gone; you are definitely a Fiend. :) Here is your very own white, buckled jacket, and on that table over there you will find whatever you need so that you can personalize it. Your jacket needn't remain white.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ok Wednesday, bring it ON!!!!

What ever. I am up for it.

Going to buy new jeans today that the wasps cannot get down. I know I've said no new clothes till I am FIT but the wasp sort of settled the point. That and the fact that all my current ones are in serious danger of fall off.

Exciting I know, but I do need ONE pair that will stay on.

Especially with the weekend coming up, last Naptown home Bout, I am SO ready for some time with those girls!

(And since I know you're going there ANYWAY, no pants falling off while being surrounded by Derby is not QUITE as exciting as you might think. They need to work at it.)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Q, buy two. You're going to have to wash those jeans at some point and then your back in wasp-jeans territory.

By the way, Happy Wednesday to the FIENDS!

    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Erin, you stole my comment. Definitely two pair....you're a person who does many things, some of them messy. Laundry WILL be required, just think of bees and honey!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Great minds think alike!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Or...at least...minds that are scared of wasps think alike. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  50. I really need to be able to focus on work and get this done ...

    How's your Wednesday going?

    (fwiw, mine sucks)

    ReplyDelete
  51. My Wednesday has been wasp-free, but that's really the best that can be said about it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. My Wednesday went on for a very long time, and was short on proper meals.

On the us side, when I got home from work I found a package from Neverwear with my Cabal T shirt in, which was good. I'm tempted to wear it on Friday for Zombie-ing in but then it'd be sad if it got bloodstained.

I'm sorry your Wednesday sucked, Cecily. I hope Thursday works better for you.

    ReplyDelete
  53. PS My Wednesday was also wasp-free. It's a trait I admire in a day.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Done done done with work! Long day, never stopped.

Got pants tho, that fit and won't fall off. (For at least a month, I'm thinking)

Ah, now Derby practice, lovely skating.

Perfect. I've gone all happy inside.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Zing! Slam! Hipcheck! Wednesday! \o/

I'm all sore from the first kickboxing lesson yesterday. I am mostly an uncoordinated dork. like it, though. (The class. Not being an uncoordinated dork.)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Have Fiends seen this

The prefect symbol of tolerance and peace. And so squeeeeeee worthy.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Augh!!! Our giant Powell's Books box broke open in shipping! All those books lost!

    Waaaahhh!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Kickboxing, hurrah, Stalker-wife! De-boxing, Mistress, not so much....

    Sleeeeeep now.

    ReplyDelete
  59. This thread is officially BOX-THEMED. Yes.

However, it's lucky I wasn't mugged on the way home last night, as I couldn't take anyone down. I...I think I kick like a girl. :(

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh, I've no doubt your going to be moving up to kicking ASS very soon now. No doubt at all.

(I am only sitting here because I lack the energy to go to my hot tub or bed)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Lost books? What books? This is a major catastrophy!

    ReplyDelete
  62. That's a great video, Sally.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Lost books? What books? This is a major catastrophy!

It IS! Tragic. And catastrophic. And very, very disappointing. It was all used books, all stuff that's out of print. (Adam Stemple's fantasy novels, even.)

Today's Classy Author award goes to Chaz Brenchley. I mentioned that I was very sad to lose his out-of-print books, and he magically appeared on my blog comments offering to help locate more copies.

(I know Q has famous author types appearing right and left, but for most of us it's a big treat.)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Author types do tend to drop in for me, but it never gets old, Mistress.

Very sorry you lost your books, that is SO un fun.

Just gave up and conceded defeat. Turned the heat back on.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Phiala, I am so sorry! That kind of thing does make me angry. It's not rocket science to pack and tape a box properly, using 2 boxes, if necessary. Believe me I know a few shipping managers and a few rocket scientists... I think they'd all agree!

I hope you find replacements. :-( I wish I had some to send.

I once bought a special edition Piers Anthony book "A Spell for Chameleon" signed by the author as a surprise present for a friend. I even shipped it to my work......and still it disappeared in the "mail" system at my job. That kind of thing just makes me sad.

Lost books and lost puppies.... they always get to me!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Phiala, that's awful! I've had Powell's ship me books before, seems like they'd have the process down! Bummer!!

I kicked the thermostat up a degree yesterday and sat by the vent. It was cold and rainy yesterday--again. I'd like a spring please, winter was supposed to be over last month. We had some gorgeous days over the last week....just enough to adjust to warm weather and then get hit with another storm. I know, our weather is nothing compared to most of the country but I'm a total weather wimp, dammit!

On a more positive note, we're going to our first derby bout on saturday!! Santa Cruz Hellcats vs. Merced something-or-others....I lived in Merced for 2 years, I wonder if I know anyone on the team?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Wow, i just got a job. Contract, part time but geeky-technical world again. Crazy. It just fell into my lap. I'd start around beginning of May.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Woot! That's fantastic. Congrats on the job!

    ReplyDelete
  69. We cooked out twice in the last 4 days! Now it's chilly again. Such is April.

I am brimming with creative energy and ideas, now I just need the time to do them!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Woohoo Congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Congratulations, Robyn!

    And comiserations, Phiala

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yay Robyn! And there we've been punning away on the twitter, and I didn't even know. That ain't right.

I will say YAY Phiala, though, because Powell's is coming through for her after all. So punning on twitter has its uses.

Ta, Medeadly-wife. I dunno about soon. Seems to be all I can do to get the basic block-and-punch sequence down. It's like, brain says one thing, body does something else. ARGH.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Is it just me....or did the morning really come too soon.

    I cannot wake up!

Anyone got a toothpick to help prop open my eyes?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hey Fiends, I haven't mentioned it here because I can't talk about really any of it in public, but we are having major family crises (Nick's family) , so many and so all-at-once that I couldn't use this scenario in fiction because nobody would believe it. Everything has been getting progressively worse over the past month, and... well... sheesh. (That's me, trying to use more genteel language than I'm tempted to.)

Just wanted to let y'all know, even if I can't say very much.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Phiala, so sorry to hear about family problems :-( On the other hand, and it's probably not much consolation, the book issue is turning out to be not as bad as first thought.

Morning DID come too soon, after a damn near sleepless night. At least I had a cat sleeping on me for part of the night, not at all a bad thing.

Off to the (mostly) unhelpful neurologist this morning. Bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Phiala, I'm so sorry. I hope things get better for you soon. Truth really is stranger than fiction. It's incredible what we all learn to live with...things fictional characters could never manage. My heart and thoughts are with your family.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Phiala, I'll keep you and Nick and all in my prayers..for the best possible outcomes. No wonder you need those books, they can be literally sanity-saving!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Phiala - We don't need to know what's wrong to be sympathetic and send positive vibes. A bunch of people have got your back here - and I hope it gets better very soon!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Phiala, Love and Hugs, what ever the issues are, you will have those.

Jane, good luck at the neurologist!

Morning came both too soon and not soon enough. I was plagued with nightmares last night and slept like crap because of them, so I desperately need more sleep, but am also happy to bot be dreaming anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Phiala, so sorry to hear you're having a hard tome. Much love & sympathy, and do mail me if you feel it would help either to vent or to discuss.
    xx

    ReplyDelete
  81. Visit to neurologist sucked. It's been a long time since I walked out of a medical (or any other!) building in tears. Oh well. I called Mom and felt better after that.

Cleaning house, knitting, Interneting and waiting for the first G&T of the spring :-)

heck -hugs for all who need or just want one.
Family dramas and bad doc visits, I wish I wan't so familiar with both of them.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thanks Sally.

They both suck, don't you know?

    ReplyDelete
  84. I just blogged my day as a zombie,
here if any of you are interested :-)

    ReplyDelete
  85. You know, I think I'm going to try this thing with the ticks.

    Hi fiends!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Sooooooo, what's the news?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Aniiiiiiiiiiii

    hello there!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Sallyyyyyyy!

I 'm expanding my horizons, now that I can do this stuff from home. How the heck are ya?

    ReplyDelete
  89. I'm okay....enjoying some autumn sunshine today. Planning to hit the backyard soon and plant some herbs.

    ReplyDelete
  90. :-) I have to get in the garden and pick up all the branches that the storms are bringing down. I'm a ways south of Quiche, and get much the same windy weather.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Good Morning!

Lovely day. And a very nice evening before it.

Sitting at the Strange Brew with Joan of Dark and just happy as a clam.

Yup! Going to try for a new post today, we need one don't we?

    ReplyDelete
  92. New post with Derby girls, maybe ?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Waiting for the photographers to download and post pics, so I can snag 'em for my post. So far they haven't, tho one is sitting beside me now, impervious to my subtle HINTS...

    ReplyDelete
  94. help Janet and Bengals - blog about Night Garden Project! the time is nearly up for folks to respond to Jason Webley's contribution.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Webleython ends on the 30th. Then we move on to ChrisLincolnPalooza. He's been so patient!

We have still only made $100 for GLBR on Webleython. It would be nice to make more.

    ReplyDelete
  96. This is how ben and I spent last night and this is what Ben looked like when our team hit 100pts. :)

    We had a blast.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Fiends have the cutest offspring.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Looks can be deceiving, Sally; at least with mine.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Home home home!

And the Bengals seem to have turned off the furnace. Thermostat on, heat was on when I left. Went downstairs, found a switch on the furnace and flipped it, on came the heat.

    Hello? How does this happen????

So tired. Can't think. SO much to tell you, had a great weekend.

Bees arrive tomorrow too, three boxes of RUssians. And I got new skates tonight.

    Lots to write about...

Kind of chilly here yet. Oh, and winter storm is coming.

    Of course.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I don't doubt your Bengals have the power to turn off furnaces - that would be easypeasy for them.

    Rest well and warm.

    ReplyDelete
  101. And who would have thunk it? Yup! New post is UP!
