Eve of the Rapture With Cool New Hair....

All about New Hair, at least as far as pictures go, but as we've never lopped off all my hair before, we're going for it. (All of us. I may be confused as to point of view here for the moment. It's early. I gigged last night.)

First picture by the Boss. The sad thing about me and the camera is I have what are known as Anti-modeling Skills. No, kid you not. I'm actually pretty darn hot in real life, but get me in front of a camera and my face goes all " I AM VERY SURE SOMETHING QUITE BAD IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN"

Here is the entire Village turned out to try and get that ONE picture where both me and my hair are rocking. This picture by Kelly McCullough

The Gig last night was full of surprises. Even for me. Anyone remember Folk Underground? That was Paul and I with Trevor Hartman, before we went all duo, haven't seen Trevor in yonks, but fate tossed us one and he was DJ'ing at the same venue and came on down after he was done and sat in. Show went long and we pulled out some of the old songs and had a really wonderful time. Got all weepy we did, and definitely hoisted a glass to old friends.

A proper nice warm up for tonight's show, I say. Got some more fun surprises happening. Ones I know about even. And a few I am quite sure I do NOT know about.

One thing I am noticing is when you skate Derby, it tends to creep into everything. When you're driving, you're the jammer and the other cars are blockers. Same thing in a crowd. Many of the skills I am learning tho, do NOT work on stage. Need to remember that. No hip checking your bandmate. And yes, we do jam, and I play all the lead breaks, but yelling "I'm your lead Jammer, Bitches" at the crowd may well be mis-interpreted.

My hair goes all Cyclops at the drop of a hat now. Actually, hat might help matters. I played a lot of half of it in my mouth or stuck to my lips last night. Need to figure that one out. Gets caught in the strings too.

Tonight's rock will include more standing too. Sitting: not so much my friend yet.

Another shot from the Boss, who can take good pictures of me. (Forstalling the comments here: As can Kyle Cassidy, Tom Klubens and Marc Lebryck. Guys, you rock, but you aren't HERE)

Rapture tonight. I'm a little in the dark about who exactly gets taken and if I am going or not. I've a friend who is flying tonight, landing almost EXACTLY at rapture time. Does being IN a plane up your chances? Should I even bother going to the airport for her? She's not exactly a SAINT, mind you, but she's not evil or anything.

Who goes? Who stays? And who gets the cool STUFF the people who gets taken leave behind?

(My favorite Rapture Tweet has to be this one, wish I remembered whose it was: "If a Jammer is in the box during the Rapture and the other Jammer gets taken, is she considered to have left the game?" Little Derby humor there.)

On the odd chance that myself, my bandmate and most of YOU lot will still be here this evening, I've kept the gig and we are having a PARTY.

However you spend the Rapture tonight, I hope it is lovely for you.

See you tomorrow, Sinners,

Love and Rapture,
Lorraine

PS Did I mention I LOVE this new hair? Forget long. Don't miss it even a little. Once you make the change, you'll never go back. Trust me. (At least that's what she said....)

  1. I love your new hair! It totally suits you.

I had hair 6" below my waist and I'll never go back to that :-)

Have fun tonight - surprises and all!

  2. Love the new. And the pictures. (espicially the 3rd one down)
I too have new, shorter hair today, but it wasn't such a dramatic change for me this time)

  3. I can't believe the fabulous Lorraine got my new hair as her new hair! (only without the bangs and a slightly different colour)

There has never been a better time to have great hair.

  4. *Ahem* new HAIR. I'm sure I typed hair. Did you hair get raptured, all on it's own?

  5. I don't know about the Rapture, I figure I'm hanging around for the afterparty.

Your new hair looks Fab, just like you. You'll get the hang of keeping it out of your face, tucking it behind your ears and such.

I am so sorry that your NICE ASS is still hurting.

....also, I am stuck working tonight. No Charlies for me :(

  6. Party!

My hair is about like that, but when I do it it's curly. Just before we first met I chopped it all off; had been very long for roughly forever.

  7. Blogger: ill-behaved and unmannerly.

  8. TREVOR!? wow!! wish i had been there for that one, just for the visual.
love the new new hair, and it makes you more Jammy, you Derby Doll.

    ps.
there really seems to be SOMEONE missing from your photographer list, AHEM. *hmmmmphs off

  9. LOVE the last picture. :) Have fun at the gig tonight. Tomorrow the looting starts :)

Sorry the ass is still hurting. I've heard tailbone issues take for EVER!

  10. It looks so good on you! I didn't miss my hair when I lopped it all off either. I did, however, use about 10 times too much shampoo the first day. We have a quite similar haircut now and I have no advice for keeping it out of your mouth and strings other than trying to keep it behind your ear. When I first get it cut (this tuesda, can't wait!) it always gets in my face but i still love the way it looks ;-)

Derby bout tonight! The "boutfit" theme is "geektastic"...yeah, I think i can pull that one off!

  11. Love the hair! I need to find someone who will do what I want, not what he/she wants. Been looking for 2 years, hair is now in the middle of my back. Needs cut and purpled, and cut back to what I have in this profile pic.

And all of the pics Boss took of you look good, he does seem to have a little talent in him ;-)

    You will ROCK tonight!!!

  12. I went back, but I never had a cut that good when it was short. I like yours. One day when you change it again, I will get that one, and then no one will know I'm copying you. Apart from the stylist. And me. And Mr. Jess. And anyone reading this comment. I'm rambling.

  13. Quiche,

I don't quite think I can express how awesome your new haircut is! I mean, you were totally hot before, but this takes you to a whole new level!
    Me-ow Baby!

  14. It looks great! Love it, love it, love it.

  15. You are always beautiful, but this new hair! It is full of gorgeous! w00t!

  16. Love the hair...I can send you cool hats to gig in, if you'd like. We have quite a collection!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Of course, by the next gigs, it'll be longer.

    And tick.

  18. It's hard to explain to a 6yr old with nerd/geek parents how we are dressing up like nerd/geeks for derby tonight...lots of whys?

  19. I love the new hair, it suits you so much.

Boss does take wonderful photos of you - I think its because you are so relaxed and yourself with him, and he has The Knack (um, not the band. The skill)

No one seems to have been Raptured.
Ah well, back to the usual Sunday stuff for me.

  20. I can't tell whether I've been raptured yet. Do people eat Chinese take-out in heaven? That's what we did earlier. It was okay. Might go see Airplane later if we can stay up that late. Midnight showing. I have coffee, but I feel doubtful.

  21. I really have been trying to get over the hermit lifestyle I have found myself living these past few months, but here I am, home when I intended to be at Charlie's. Sigh.

    Love the hair!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Awesome derby bout. Our gals won! Woot! Ben's teacher got us into the VIP seats for the 2nd half since the people who won the tickets never showed up! LOSERS! So we had great seats for the rest of the match. Fun fun!

Sounds like the Charlie's gig is kinda crazy tonight!

Must be all the rapturous folk.

  23. Stay safe, all you fiends in tornado-ey places.

  24. I am glad you are loving the hair.

I spent the Rapture, photographing an angel and a firebreather with Kyle and many other amazing photogs. Great weekend here. Exhausted, but it was so worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can't wait to see some of your photos Cecily. So envious of you getting to do this.

And what's this about tornadoes? Be safe Fiends in blowy places.

  26. Gorgeous, gorgeous photo, and new hair if fabulous - obviously. :)

(Been busy so I've been more of a lurker than a commenter of late. Must remedy that, and soon.)

  27. The new hair is so great! You're all reinvented and sh*t. I bet it feels better under the helmet.

  28. Thanks all! I do love this new hair. Just washed and dried it. Took about 2 minutes. FTW!

GREAT weekend. A little sleep deprived, but Dark, Jinx and I had a blast.

We left after Sat's gig (which was one of the strangest gigs EVER. Entire bar went all nuts for Journey and never came back. I went for it) and we made it in time for first Bout at 9.

Um, no brain here, but we watched 12 hours of Derby and then drove home again and I got Dark to the airport on time. Mostly on time.

Work now. Then training. Then I bet I sleep for over 12 hours.

(Don't bet against me on this one.)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I thought I would sleep for 12 hours last night...unfortunately, I did not. *sigh* Soooo tired

  30. I just thought I'd comment to let everyone know I'm still here. I was not taken by the rapture. I spent the rapture at a party in a used-to-be lesbian club is-now-a goth club with my boyfriend and all my gaymer friends. My boyfriend pointed out that he was the only person there that was not gay. Glad he understands me.

  31. He sounds like an awesome guy Wendy.

  32. Ooooh. Chatty little Fiends, aren't you?

I gotta go to bed, everything went all sparkly at the gym, but if would be lovely to wake up and have coffee with comments, you know...I'll be up early because I am going to bed NOW.

    Love you and all.

  33. Sleep well Oh Leader.

  34. I. Love. Your. Hair. It's the best hair on the planet. And it will get into Heaven during next Raptre.

(I made the change when I was eleven. And I went back. But since I was eleven, it doesn't count!)

  35. You look lovely with your hair shorter, Ms. Fabulous. :)

Things to keep hair out of face while busy: barrettes, headbands, scarves, hair combs, bobby pins. All these things will work, just find the ones you like best. They work for long hair, too, by the way.

The last time my hair was shorter than shoulder length I was in third grade. I've contemplated getting it cut short, but haven't done anything beyond that.

  36. THAT was a solid nearly 10 hours of sleep. Feel like I have some brain today, which wasn't happening yesterday, I must say.

Gig and Derby mashups are a bit harsh, need to keep these separate, I am thinking.

The Bengals, all five of them, are NUTS this morning. May take Venus and Mim walking.

    ReplyDelete
  37. !0 hours solid sleep? Wow. I can't even remeber what it must have felt like...

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't know what it felt like. I never moved...

  39. New post is up my Fiends, wake the heck up and help me out!

Absolutely LOVE your new hair! Now I'm thinking about chopping mine off....
    Cheers,

  41. Just catching up on my feed reading. Have to say I love your hair! It's very you. And it's Derby. Which is redundant, but that's OK. :)
