A Vote For Bengals...

I haven't been blogging so much lately, and we'll have to work on that, promise! (no, not sure if that was a Royal "We" or exactly what, it's early. Hang with us.) Boss has a tour coming up (You may have heard) and as you might expect, takes a bit of setting up. And then there's that whole Garden thing. (Had a lot to say about that, but it seems to want a post of it's own, wait for it)

One thing I really do want this year is an outdoor cat run, for the Bengals. Mim is crazed to get OUT and if they had a little tunnel leading to a covered area, they could slink thru the grass, and climb things, and be OUT. I think they would be happier, the leash walks aren't enough. Going to talk to my neighbor and see if he wants to build me one. Very exciting.

Speaking of Bengals being happy, we have a chance to make a lot of Bengals VERY happy, and all I need you to do it cast a Vote HERE You LIKE the page, and Vote for Great Lakes Bengal Rescue. It's a contest between Animal Rescue Groups, and Great Lakes Bengal Rescue is VERY close to actually being in the run for some monies.

We have one week left to do this.

The contest is giving away a LOT of dollars. If we can get some, it will all go to saving Bengals, and to be very honest, we need it. This is a really easy way to help save Bengals that have no other options.

We are not the first stop for these kitties, we are their last hope.

If everyone who reads this could vote, and tell even one or two other people, and they could vote, we could do this.

We could save them.

And that means everything.

And yup, not fair, but I am not playing fair today here. All the Bengal Pics here today are Bengals we HAVE saved, who are currently in foster homes, waiting for homes.

But we rescued them. Because we had the money and the will to do it.

Just a Vote from you is all I need.

Love and Bengals, Lorraine

  1. A new post, and just as I'm taking a brief coffee break. My life, it requires a lot of caffeine.

  5. Time to break out the super secret, pseudonymous FB account I never remember to look at.

That first photo is especially gorgeous, both photo- and Bengal-wise.

  6. I think you can only vote once, sadly. We can win this. Easy easy easy way to help.

    Thank you!

  7. HI Lorraine! Hi Fiends!

Yes. I voted for Bengal Rescue!

    (loved the pictures...)

  8. Had already voted...wish I could many more times!

That last Bengal has gorgeous eyeliner!

  9. Wish I could vote again!

Ben's out of school so there will be far less computer time for me until he's in his various day camps here and there.

Love starting the day with cute kitty faces.

  13. can't vote again but did share again.

    ReplyDelete
  14. must post again because forgot to tick again.

    again.

  15. Some people have been able to vote multiple times, which is probably why the top two leaders have 2400+ votes. I haven't been able to do so but definitely try again tomorrow or if you are at a different location. I think the voting has to do with IP address, cookies, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'll try again from work, them...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wish I could vote again too, but the good thing is you have shared lots of pictures of gorgeous Bengals. There can never be enough of them.

Ohhh, Janet I will try to vote again from my desktop and see if it works.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Thank you again for voting! We have moved from 7th place to 4th I believe today, when last I checked. We'll do this!

It's just over 100 here. Not exactly fun. 102. Uh-huh. Heat index is higher.

but hey, I'm off (with plenty of sport drinks, for sures) to skate. Fortunately the practice space is dark and windowless. How hot can it be??? It's FREEZING in the winter,I can tell you.

  20. Done. Thanks for the opportunity and loved the pics. Wish I could have one or two of these, but not in a place or space to be the right home just yet. That and the ferals might not like the competition in time.

  21. We are in a solid 6th place with 569 votes, 7th place has 513 votes. However 4th place is 811 and I don't think we can do that, but 6th place isn't bad as there are only 3 cat rescues and only 1 cat breed rescue - us. Thank you all for your votes, they have helped. We still have until 6/14 to vote so continue to try to vote. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Just FYI, the rules say each individual can vote only once. I'd hate to be disqualified because we broke the rules. Probably no enforcement, but I don't know that for sure.

  23. Horns of a Dilemma. There's Q's favorite shelter, and one that's in my town.

Support the locals, or support the Great Lakes?

    I must ponder.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Janet. You disappoint me.

    You don't think so?

    242 more votes?

    We have a week.

    Watch me.

Watch US. The Fiends are powerful. Very, very powerful.

    This can be done.

    Who's in?

Isabella the Accidental Bengal wants you to know we voted. And even though Jessica is at camp, she voted, too, because she loves Bengals, too. Even when they are playing Shred The Feet.

  26. Ok, Blogger. What's up? LET ME IN!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am in a painful meeting.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm up, but don't really want to be.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I wish I could go back to sleep, my early morning energy is slipping away...

Training in an hour and a half...Weird time for it, but there you have it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dreadful meeting finally ended after 3 1/2 hours of struggle. I need chocolate.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm having one of those "So my weight won't go down, so I'll just eat a tub of icing, that'll show you your stinking scale" kind of days. They make no logical sense, but happen all too often.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Been there, and done that thing! Go go go.

Meanwhile, you can help GLBR acquire a far smaller sum of money here. And Fiends, I'm not going to play fair, either: we're still only at $110 with this giveaway, and that's on only two donations. One of them was Nathalie. The other was our guest artist, and he's not eligible to win seeing as he donated the thing we're giving away. Now, much as I love Nathalie, she can't win every Night Garden giveaway.

You don't have to give much to help us over the $250 mark. That said, it's okay if you don't have the money to giv right now. In that case, help us scream about it! We have until the end of the month to get there. That's not as much time as you'd think.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Jess, we'll do some Nightgarden tweeting as soon as this contest is over, it's such a cool thing, we'll get you over 250 as well.

TIRED! Really didn't want to workout this morning and whined thru over half of it, then gave up. It's kind of like drowning, really, as soon as you stop struggling, it's not so bad.

My Wednesday Little Evil sessions are also the Public Weigh In times. Talk about a way to keep one honest! Every women I can grab in the gym, or who is in the locker room witnesses it. AND Little Evil, who writes it down.

Yeah, kind of extreme. Works tho. Another 3 pounds in the bag.

Off to skating shortly. ASK me how I sleep at night....

And Cecily, yeah, they happen. Let 'em. And get back on tomorrow.

  34. Ahem. I went to yoga tonight. Gave in to the urging of my BFF (after about a year....) Hard work. I miht like it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love doing yoga, though I usually do it at home rather than in a class. Fits my insane schedule better that way.

I've been taking advantage of Nick's out-of-townness this week to do yoga twice a day, but it was still 90F when I got home and hotter in the house so I skipped it tonight. Kinda sad about that, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

And now I'm back to procrastinating on a half-written review. See, you know it's hot, because I'd much rather do yoga than finish this.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Dammit, Blogger. Ate my freaking comment. This switching account thing is driving me INSANE.

    I'll try and reconstruct:

    Yoga good.

    Skating: Yeah!

    Tired now.

Going south for 6 hours this weekend in The Prison Van with a bunch of Derby Girls.

(It may have been better the first time)

  37. HEY! Where's my Freaking Fiends????

Gone, gone like the wind. Ay Calypso, I'll sing to your spirits...

(yeah, been going down a really weird John Denver path lately..)

  38. Sorry! I have crazy schedule today. I have a floor level house to draw up, to bring my youngest for a haircut, AND to get my ass into DC for my best friend's birthday dinner tonight.

  39. I'm here, at home playing hooky for a few hours. Going to work after lunch though. Working on stuff at home.

The cat rescue group I volunteer with didn't make it to the final round for voting, so I'll send my vote your way!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thank you Liane! We're only about 180 votes out of 5th place!

Anything anyone can do, any friends, any one you meet one the street....Let's DO this.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Nothing wrong with a bit of John Denver - brings back wonderful memories of family in my teens. And you just sing along without a thought because every word is engraved in your soul.
Why yes, I do like his stuff.

    Morning Fiends!

    ReplyDelete
  43. John Denver, Carly Simon, Colin Hay, The Carpenters, Petula Clark, Susan Warner and Peter Gabriel = the soundtrack of my novel.

Also the Sunday Manoa Three and Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

    I love music.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Did I mention the bear incident yesterday? Maybe I forgot. Well, no worries, I am sure it's far far away by now....

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well if it comes back you can just stake it. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  46. "You're not a bear, you're a silly man who needs a shave and wears a fur coat."

    Anyone else love that book?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bear_That_Wasn%27t

It's been a catchphrase around out house for years....

    ReplyDelete
  47. I was surround by bears, frogs, birds, demons, monkeys, you name it but they were no threat. Ben's school's production of the Ramayana started yesterday. Ben's a frog. He went to sleep in his makeup last night, he's trying to scrub it off in the shower now, he's still quite green.

    3 more shows to go!

Once he's' out of the shower, we're off to the drug store to try to find a makeup remover that actually works. What I have apparently doesn't do much!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Baby wipes are often very useful in getting off stuck make-up, and very gentle on the skin for all the rubbing that has to be done.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Baby wipes turned green but didn't make a visible change to the green on his face! and back...and arms...and feet. :P

    ReplyDelete
  50. The next thing I would try is rubbing alcohol.

    ReplyDelete
  51. try an oil based makeup remover. i have one form origins that is amazing. removed everything i have thrown at it. review here

and despite being oil based, does not cause my skin to freak out.

    ReplyDelete
  52. He makes a cute frog, but I can imagine he doesn't like being a pale green.

Um, Quiche - what is this about a bear?

Oh, for those of you not on LJ, we've had more vet dramas. Mulder finally got in on the act. Overnight he developed an abscess in one of his anal glands - it was slightly bigger than a golf ball - enormous for a little dog. Luckily, he made it to the vet just before it would have burst, I'm told. Its now oozing, and he is miserably blocked out of the carpeted areas of the house and had to sleep in Shiraz's crate last night. The first time he hasn't slept with his humans, and he wasn't impressed!

    ReplyDelete
  53. *whispers*
Its very quiet in here. Are you all sleeping?

    ReplyDelete
  54. We were at night 2 of the play. Another successful frog dance under Ben's belt. 2 to go. I picked up a box of neutrogena makup removal cloths from Costco today, they work really well it seems. Well enough at least. He'll still be green for a few days ;)

7pm tomorrow. 2pm Sunday. Then Tuesday we fly to Chicago...I'm horrible at keeping track of geography...what fiends do I need to hook up with in chi-town?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Is Ben coping with the green? He'd make a wonderful little alien now!

    ReplyDelete
  56. He's fine w/ the green, I didn't want to look him w/ the green hue...he looked slightly ill ;)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Went to the market. And the post office to mail dedication sheets for my poetry chapbook.
I still need some stuff for my diner party this evening but it's raining so I shall have tea first.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Poor Mulder. And poor Quiche & Woodsman Jans, contending with bears.

Ben does look cute, but should probably bs de- greened before you go to Chicago...

I'm visiting my sister & her fiancé for the weekend. We ended up sitting up late, drinking red wine and putting the world to rights. Mildly celebratory as C just for his results for his 1st year exams - he passed alll with flying colours, so no retakes to worry about .

No fixed plans for today, it will probably depend on the weathr.

    ReplyDelete
  59. It's raining on and off. Not much but enough to cool the temperature. Of course it started to rain as I was harvesting the raspberries for tonight's diner.
Cooking lunch right now. A nap is planned.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Lorraine, have you seen this article?

MSP is the fittest city in america! that should help inspire :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. i did vote for GLB on the fb thingie - luck to Janet & the Bengals!

    ReplyDelete
  62. We are only 72 votes out of 5th place now with only 2 days left to vote. Please try to vote again, it allows some people to do so but not all - not me. Thanks!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Will blogger let me comment now?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Why yes!

    Home!

Well, I was a couple hours ago but Blogger wouldn't let me comment.

I have a lovely time and they are all very nice girls.

    Heh.

NAPPED. Off to practice very soon, oops, like 20 min. Lots ot tell you.

    ReplyDelete
  65. OK FIENDS!!!!!

    Listen up!!!

Please. We are 76 votes ot of 5th place int he CONTEST. Money DOUBLES at 5th.

We have tomorrow. Please please please, I really want this for the Bengals, it's so easy to vote. Can you ask people? Badger them? Stress how FREAKY easy it is to vote???

    Please?

    ReplyDelete
  66. NEW LITTLE POST!!!!

    Ok, Fiends, let's do it.

    Let's see what you got!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Voted! I'm kitty-less right now, and therefore, especially susceptible.

Once I get settled in a permanent west-coast house, I'm going to look into rescuing a couple of Bengals. I'm used to opinionated, ornery creatures...

    ReplyDelete
  68. I found eleanor! *pokes first picture, thats my foster kitty*

    ReplyDelete
  69. I despise Facebook and I don't "like" anything....but I love Bengals, so I signed on and voted. My Bengals have made me happier than anything in this world ever has, so it's completely worth the few moments of seething contempt involved in logging in to that website in order to help other house leopards.
