First Day In The Leopard Lounge!

The Leopard Lounge is done! It still needs perches, and trees and a pool, but the Bengals are already enjoying themselves. It took them about 2 minutes to figure out the tube entrance and they seem to love sneaking along it.

For those of you who don't know them, Venus is the grey spotted, Magic the spotted one on the ground, an F1 Bengal, meaning he is mostly Asian Leopard Cat and Mim is the brown marbled Bengal.

It's much MORE than I had thought, when I first had they idea, and better. Mim seems happier already and didn't want to come in last night, even with the sky getting black and the sirens going off. My Builders did a wonderful job, it's perfect and very secure. They are now able to go OUT safely. (The Bengals, the builders were never in any danger)

The little shed is getting a new door, and we will, as I said, find the perfect dead trees so they can Lounge like proper Leopards. But for now, enjoy this video of the first day at the Leopard Lounge!

Love and Bengals,
Lorraine

  1. LOVELOVELOVE! My girls all crowded around me to see the kitties! The youngest talked about how she wants a tube that went to an outdoor area. :-)

  2. Oh, nice!! And they all look happy to be out and playing (well, other than Magic panting in the heat, but that's not something you can fix for the poor guy). Was Mim blocking the tube back to the house? :-D

  3. How utterly utterly awesome!!!

Magic is SOO happy! And he is such a sweetie! Venus cracked me up. She is just like my Tonks. She was talking about why they can't go further out hahah and then later she was all like, why are you looking at Mim, look at me, I am much more interesting.
hope Mim gets better now, hope it helps being outside..
I'm so very happy for your Leopards!

  4. This so reminds me of many home videos I've seen of me or my friends when we were playing in the yard. One of us is always talking, whether the camera is on her or not. One of us gets a camera in the face, says "what?" and that's pretty much it. One of us is barely aware of the camera, stuffing food down her face - and once realizing there's a camera in the face, turns quickly away in "damnit, I'm trying to eat here!" way.

    Adorable!

Look how happy they are!!!!! Love it. That really made me smile. So, so cool. Only one question- -and I'm sure you thought of this, but I'd kick myself if I didn't ask- -they can't dig out, right? Under the 2 by 4s? I had a dog who did that once. We had to bury cinderblocks around the cage.

Regardless, that may be the coolest thing ever! Yay, Leopard Lounge!!!!!

  6. Yeah, that is so awesome!!! What a great idea. I once had something like that for my bunnies... they had a mini-pond and a run from their hutch to the ground and grass to hide in... but this is so much better and cooler. I love it.

    Well done.

It looks wonderful :) What are the plans for winter time? Will they be allowed out? Probably a silly question.

Magic may be able to burn off some of that excess weight now! He's such a beauty tho. :D and I love that Venus is already on the roof. Let's hope you don't have moles so that they learn to dig!!

  10. Lucky cats!

  12. That is totally awesome. I wish I could speak Bengal, and knew what Venus was trying to ask you. I was wondering about winter too - do Bengals like to play in snow?

Ceci - I would have loved crawling through a tube to get into an outdoor area as a kidlet too.

LMAO, my two Bengals BOTH had to jump on the computer desk and see what all the meowing was about. My Siamese, on the other hand, flat out ignored it. I guess Bengals DO have their own language. Oh, and my dog barked because that wasn't one of her cats meowing, and she knew it.

Love the lounge! What a perfect place!

  14. The Leopards are so lucky to have you. the only thing missing is a 24hour LeopardCam.

Oh that's wonderful to see, and such a lovely Lounge for them! If you haven't already, maybe consider using the vertical space as well? I'm sort of envisioning thick ropes knotted into climbing frames or something...may be a crazy idea though, I know a lot more about enrichment for fancy rats than I do about cats!

  16. Such fun, and such happy cats. You will have to add more decorations, both feline and spooky.

  17. Wow! It looks great and I believe they're digging it. Just wait for the trees and the water feature! Magic is really beautiful (they all are, but his spotting is awesome.) Love his snoot full of "sniffy face" and my, but Venus is a talker.

Cecily, your daughter's right...a tube would be a fine thing to the outside!

  18. Poor little Mim, looking lost on her post.
That lounge is a marvelous piece and I am not letting my furries see the post.

  19. Wow, such a cool thing! And it will only get cooler as you fit it out.

    Best Bengal parent ever.

  20. Magic; "oh, yum! Grass!"

I meant to ask: what is the strange object in the middle of the playground?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow, that is amazing! And i forgot how absolutely incredible Magic's eyes are. WOW.

I love that we both built our kids forts this summer ;-)

  22. You *are* the Best Bengal Mom Ever.

Where did you get those tube things? And do they have a Real Tube Name? So that I don't have to go to the Home Depot asking for "tube things"?

I have long wanted to fit a tube of that sort along the ceiling of my apartment to make a Fun Kitty Run.

  23. OMG that's lovely. I am not letting Susan and Indy see this video. They would be clamoring for their own lounge.

Love how you see a need and fill it.

  24. Max the Cat immediately started meowing back at Venus.

And I love how Magic found something to eat right away. Grass! Yum!

Are you going to plant some of your catnip inside?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh. My. Fods. Those Bengals are SURELY feeling the love. Big time.

  26. that is AMAZING!

will they still have access in the winter? will they want access in the winter? the thought of bengals frolicking in snow amuses me. (note, i have no cats)

  35. Skaffen and I watched your video of the new leopard enclosure many times. I do all the smiling while S sits on the keyboard listening, watching and washing. What a fantastic place for your beautiful Bengals. Thanks for sharing.

  36. That is just PERFECT. Venus looks so chuffed - is she always that chatty?

I need to do this for my Moggers. They are not Leopards, but need something similar for broadly the same reasons. I love how you've incorporated the little shed - will it be turned into a Leopard Den?

  37. We have a Plan in place for getting trees in the Leopard Lounge, on Friday!

I found the perfect tree, and it's accessible, and my chain sawing Derby sister has agreed to help with this project.

They will be able to PERCH and look down from above!!!

I want to get bird feeders too, right outside the Lounge, so birds will come for them.

  38. I was going to say that the leopards will be grateful, but they cats, so they won't be! But they will love it!

  39. New post is UP!!!!

    Honey...

  40. Mim's face looks a lot like Sampah's. Magic's, of course, looks more leopardy. And Venus is such a loudmouth. My goodness. Is Lear not interested? My cats would be jealous, if I let them see this.

  41. That is fantastic Lorraine! My husband wants to build one for our cats, can't wait to show him.
