Pants, Derby and Zombies, Oh My!

I've been having Pants Issues lately, you may have heard. All of last years pants have long gone, being too big, and with winter coming, the summer workout carpis are not going to do it much longer, so I nipped out yesterday with DJDayZ to acquire a new pair I could wear on my Holiday, this weekend.

And I found the BEST PANTS EVER. I love these pants, no clue why, they spoke to me. (ok, not really, the drugs I am on for my Death Plague are not THAT powerful) but I really really needed these pants. Clearly. Bought 'em. That's Freaky Venus sitting on them there. (It's not possible to lay clothes out and NOT have Bengals claim them within seconds)

The only small problem with them is that they are in fact, too SMALL. They came in S, M, L and XL and even the XL in this style ain't happening. The legs are fine, but doing them up? Not near.

Yet. So now we have a goal. I say they'll fit by Xmas. If you're betting amongst yourselves, put your money on me. I will wear these PANTS. They're too stylin not to. Trust me. Pink Camo pants simply SCREAM Xmas.

Onto this weekend, I am off to Indy and Joan of Dark to watch the North Central Region Derby Tournament. Three days of Bouts, with the best teams in the region! (I did also buy pants that fit, so no worries, I won't be doing this in my undies) Very excited!

For the non-Derby folk here, I am not SKATING in this. They would, quite easily, kill me. Going to learn a lot tho, watching them. And I'm really, really proud to be able to go to this and say, yeah, I'm a skater too. Means a lot. It was only 10 months ago I saw Naptown, one of the teams who IS skating this weekend, skate in the first Bout I ever saw. There's such beauty in skating.

Speaking of beauty and first Bouts, here's the poster of OUR first Bout of the season! I can say honestly and truly, I have never felt so beautiful or had so much fun at a photo shoot in my LIFE! (My Dad saw this and asked why I wasn't wearing a helmut, had to tell him first of all I was wearing a helmut, and second, we weren't exactly SKATING there in the grass. Not sure which Zombie he thought I was, lol!) (Second from the right, if you aren't sure either)

If you look closely, you can see the Zombie Arm from Boss's yard there in the background. Photo and Poster by Kimm Schroeder.

I love this. All of it. And I think, you do too.

Love, Pants, Derby and Zombies,
Lorraine aka Quiche MeDeadly

i like your goal. have you hung them up somewhere inspiring?

  2. I do indeed love it! And the pants are terrific. My money is on you wearing them before Christmas...might be Christmas Eve, but before for sure! (Assuming Venus will let you...)

  3. My bets are on you. The pants and the poster rock! You've inspired me to the point of getting a treadmill so that I'll finally get off my chubby butt.:)

  4. So boss's zombie arm follows you, is what you're saying. It does! There is the proof. Look at it! Look.

I am glad you have pants. I bought some pants. They are made for someone much, much taller than me. But I'd been hankering after them for months and couldn't do them up the first time I tried them on. Then one glorious day last month, I could do them up, AND they were marked down to six bucks. Six! So now I just have to get taller.

  11. I have no doubt you will wear the pants by Christmas. Have a great time on your holiday :)

  12. It occurs to me that you could still have gone pantsless this weekend and still not be parading around only half clothed. You could have bought skirts and/or dresses.

Not that I've ever seen a picture of you in a skirt or dress.

  15. If I keep saying YOU ROCK, does it eventually lose it's meaning?

    I don't care. YOU ROCK!

Can't wait to see your nice ass in those pants.

  16. YAY for awesome pants -- and goals! Plus, a Derby weekend with awesome company? Full of WIN.

My money's on you, Q. You will best the pants.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I will wear the pants!!!!

No dresses or skirts, so not me, lol! And wouldn't fit in real well with Derby either...

CAMO pants. Pink camo pants, did I mention that bit?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I love camo of all sorts. And I love my camo shorts and pants that I got from the mens section of the store, but I also love my skirts too. I wear them a lot.

    Have a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  19. i consider the choice for skirts to be similar to the boxers/briefs argument. i prefer the freedom that skirts provide.

are skirts forbidden in derby? because i would imagine a cheerleader or tennis setup would work with matching panties that are made to show.

  20. Oh no, lots of girls wear skirts to skate in, I was thinking about sitting suicide on a floor that's on top of an ice rink for 3 days, skirts aren't the way to go, lol.

And they're not really me these days...Tho I think lots of girls look lovely in them!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I used to wear my big flowing hippie skirts with steel toe combat boots. I really am a very strange woman...

    ReplyDelete
  22. yeah, i can see it not being a personal preference. also, it didn't occur to me that some of the rinks were set up on top of ice rinks. makes sense, not a lot of places big enough for a track. multipurpose.

  23. Rocking pants, oh yes.

I am giggling at the idea of your father not recognizing you in your zombie get up - which is full of awesomeness. How can one get a copy of that poster QuicheMeDeadly?

Is it strange that at 49 I have been getting the itch to poster the walls like I did as a teeny bopper?

  24. Sally, your'e on FB, go to the Chippewa Valley Roller Girl page, or our website and pull it off there...

Just realized it's going to be in the mid 80's all week in Indy. EASY pack, couple T's, couple tanks, couple shorts, I am SET. Hoodie for the evenings.

    Can't WAIT for this holiday!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh Fods, pants are always so very difficult to find in the right size. For ANY woman! And I know you can do it ... naturally. If I gambled I would totally gamble here.

  30. Have a wonderful Holiday!!

In the meantime I shall ponder situations in which pink camo would be vital. I mean, it's awesome and all but you may as well get some stealth use out of them. So far I've got cherry blossoms......

  31. Azaleas! Rose colored glasses. Um...the cotton candy stand at the fair?

Hello! I am a lurker generally, and even though my comment has nothing to do with your blog entry, I wanted to say THANK YOU. Once upon a time, you gave the "assistant hint" that when a airline customer service representative is not being helpful, hang up, call back, and keep trying until you get someone who is helpful. I never would have thought of that myself, but the tactic really saved my bum after a cancelled flight today. THANKS!!

  40. How Derby?

    How pants?

    I demand answers.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well now, the Derby is right fine, yesterday was the first day and I did get to see WIndy CIty skate, they're going to win this weekend so their first game wasn't real tense, poor Arch RIval, but still liked seeing them skate.

Naptown won their first round, and have a shot for third place, tho they'll have to fight for it. (actually they are in the RUNNING for top three, but I'm thinking it's unlikely, tho anything can and does happen in Derby)

There, was that what you wanted to know? LOVE THIS!!

Oh, got new skates yesterday, hate my old ones and needed better, go tthe Reidell 965's, with reactor plates and lowboy wheels (for those of you interested in such thins, hee hee)

Mostly just having a fine time. LOts of coffee, lots of Derby, what more could a girl need?

(ok, yes, LOTS of beautiful women, they're all OVER the place)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hurrah! Sounds like a mighty fine time indeed.

You neglected to mention the pants. They go down well? Wait, that's not what I meant.

    ReplyDelete
  43. "You neglected to mention the pants. They go down well? Wait, that's not what I meant."

    I love you.

  44. Still in Indy but hoping to get back today, plane got rather delayed, which is frustrating as I need to work, but nice as I am in Joan's shop, and not TOO bad as I am working away on the laptop.

I may die of coffee tho.

BEST derby weekend ever! Bouts started early and went all the way into evening, Naptown (my Derby COusins) pulled out a huge win in the semi finals and they're going to Nationals!

This makes us happy, it's their first time.

Saw some amazing skating and bought me some new skates which ought to improve things quite a bit. Met so many new friends and got screen time on DNN, was pretty fun getting texts from teammates saying I SO SAW YOU!!!

(bouts like this are streamed live on Derby News Network)

Soooo tired. But sooo worth it!

    ReplyDelete
  45. That's great!
I am so happy that you can get away every now and then.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Woot! As the kids are wont to say.

  48. How is everyone?

I'm just over two weeks out from the current show I'm in opening. My house needs a serious cleaning. Our new kitten, Tristan, is doing very well in our household. And, what else, Oh I got this sketch book for this art library project and I am super duper psyched about it.

  49. I seem finally to have got over the DeathPlague which caught me when I got home from Italy, have had a hectic week and now have wonderful house guests for the weekend (oldest bestest friend & her partner) to celebrate my birthday.
Had a lovely evening of cooking & wine & catching up, tomorrow we have thatre tickets & I suspect that at some point, there may be Cake.
Oh, & did I mention I bought a Dave McKean picture which arrived this week, & my signed copy of PTerry's new book, 'Snuff' came today?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hippo Birdies To Ewe, Marjorie. Sounds like a lovely way to spend a birthday weekend. I too have received Snuff, though not signed, but am not letting myself start it yet. having a giant fabric swap at my house tomorrow with a bunch of sewing friends, with the intent of clearing out some space so I can actually ply with making stuff.

Of course, everyone who is coming has asked if they can bring things to spread around...we'll see if I can manage a net loss.

    ReplyDelete
