Keep me amused with your chatter and I ought to be back with you in a day or two.. Miss you I do!

I usually try to comfort myself by thinking about other cyclical forces of nature like tides or the moon. That and being peeved with men because I'm pretty sure they're somehow responsible :)

At 14:51 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Men are the lucky ones .... no Moon Time. Must be a nice way to live.

In the meantime, here's something you might enjoy. http://mainehumanities.org/podcast/archives/tag/flash-readings
This is the link for a few of the Stonecoast faculty flash readings. Scroll halfway down and then click on the one for Jim Kelly. He reads 10 of the micro stories published by Wired Magazine, and one of those stories was written by the Boss. :-)

Ok, now back to bed with you.

Aw, much sympathy, Q.

Not much interesting here to amuse you with, I'll be amused along with you with what the other fiends share, though :-)

I like to apply a purring cat. Of course, in my house the challenge is more often to NOT have a purring cat, so that's the default situation.

I am home from the interminable conference. The plan had been to go to the office after the last meeting, but the need to scrape an inch of sleet from the car before I could leave the conference convinced me that I might better just go home.

It wasn't a hard convince. :)

A moon-themed haiku
Won't work for cramps or headaches.
The werewolf said so.

But some warm beer might
do the trick, or failing that,
wave a divining

rod over your head,
and shout to the moon, Piss off,
you celestial son

of a bitch! Get off
my goddamn ovaries, you
.
Then feel the tides recede.

If none of it works,
it'll just go to show that
werewolves don't know jack.

Some friends and I were talking about how different life might be if men went through Moon Cycles...there was certainty that paid, mandatory leave on crampy days would be enacted into law.

Marvelous, Jess!

Lorraine, hoping you are feeling better ... hugs and tea from Emily (catchy, is it not?).

Lorraine, I'm sorry you're suffering. I hope tea, rest, and Bengals are helping. If not, Beez may have the right idea. :-)

Jess - I'm with El, that poem was awesome.

Thanks for the laughs and links everybody. I know that they were for Lorraine, but I peeked too.

And Beez, I was laughing so hard, I couldn't breathe. Your post was fabulous!!

Well, big sympathies to those who're feeling crampy and all. Means I'm soon. Could be the why of the big ol' funk my head's been in all day.

Siri and DG and others, hope pain of all sorts is receding.

Followed your progress across the south on Twitter, Adri! Glad you made your connection.

I got pictures of the balloon animals t'other day, but haven't downloaded 'em yet. Did find the web site, the group is The Twisted Ones. :D

At 05:13 Blogger Dragonsally said...

That's real balloon art Na.
Would have been fantastic watching them make things.

Yes, if men had monthly cycles, many things would be different.

We get a reasonable amount of sick leave at work. My (clueless, idiotic, disliked) boss lectures people who don't have many sick leave hours saved up. Obviously if you use sick time regularly, you are slacking, taking it for personal time when you aren't really sick, because HE doesn't need to take time off frequently.

Er, right. One of his favorite people to lecture has migranes, another has chronic health issues. Both are female.

I wish I could take a day off a month, but I'm rarely quite that ill, so I take lots of drugs and go to work anyway (because of the supportive work culture, obviously). Less appealing on days when I'm in the field, tho.

(For fiends on facebook, yes, this is the same guy.)

I'm pleased to have delighted everyone via a haiku-poem which contains both swearing and the word ovaries. Fod bless you all. :D

Hope you're feeling much better today, Quiche!

And Sue, back up-- why is your dog wearing pants? And are there photos?

It's snowing. But it's also sunny. I think the weather sprites are toying with me. Bah!

*shakes fist at sky*

At 09:12 Blogger spacedlaw said...

The weather appears to tergiversate,
Half way through rain and – possibly - sunshine
Balancing act on the tip of a wing
A single breath of wind lost to the world.

At 09:19 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Good morning, Fiends. It is quiet here. It's always quiet after a snowfall (though much of the snow melted during the night - yay!).

Hoping you're feeling well, Quiche, after a night's rest.

At 09:27 Blogger Jess said...

Lovely, N! :)

Now on top of the snowshine, I hear a bird going tweety-tweet. What's it gonna be already? Aaagh.

In this House of Plague
The beds keep their sleepers
Deep within their sheets.

In this House of Plague
Only Bengals prowl the halls,
Keeping watch day and night.

In this House of Plague
Creaking walls and rolling floors
Outmoan sleeping victims.

In this House of Plague
Doors lead ever inward 'til
Outside is mere dream.

But, this House of Plague
Will retreat before Fiendish
Pranks, poems and prose.

Hi all! Jess, Rocket is wearing a diaper (denim with trim no less!) as she is in heat for the first time. I plan on breeding her, maybe next cycle, maybe the one after. I have given her a blanket to "nest" with as she was doing so with the living room couch cushions- so she paws and arranges it. really cute, but boy has she been squirrelly, just nuts (doesn't moontime affect us all like that??) i think i am done tho, in april it will be a year, and its an odd feeling. Qui- hope you feel better soon, stay warm (as your state sent its blast of cold here so we are now in the deathgrip of winter again)!

At 14:54 Blogger Na said...

There's snow here today, but not intensely cold. Just, er, announcing this since it's coming east across the continent, presumably.

Poems here are rocking!

Adri just twittered this url/ article about privacy settings on fb. Since so many Fiends are on there, I wanted to spread the word.

At 16:27 Blogger Rubius said...

ahhh... I lost a day... I thought it was Friday... I was wrong.

Dammit.. I even turned off my alarm this morning thinking tomorrow would be Saturday. I even took out the garbage last night!!! How did this happen??

CURSES!!!

This feels worse than when I screwed up Daylight savings time this year... showed up at the wrong time a week before Daylight Savings and then showed up an hour late ON Daylight Savings. sigh

At 16:49 Blogger Marjorie said...

Na, thanks for reposting Adri's tweet - (I went into FB to follow some of its advice but my connection is playing up so haven't got very far, yet)

Rubious, you need this site again (Maybe this should be added to the site, Q, so we can all check whether it's Friday yet when we visit?

At 16:49 Blogger Chantrelle said...

I didn't know we could sync up cycles when we only hung out online.

Blah.

We have a nice sunny day here which makes the mood better if not the tummy.

I have acupuncture in an hour, ben and i were running around the other night and i slipped on the hardwood floor and fell back on my butt...i caught myself with my hands in a way that wouldn't hurt a normal person but totally wrenched my stupid wrists so hopefully she can fix them today :(

Hope you're feeling better Lorraine!!!

At 17:32 Blogger Na said...

Chantrelle, hope the acupuncture works wonders!

Adri, ariandalen, if it's of interest to you, Ms. AFP is going to be in Austin (for SXSW) and Houston next month.

At 17:33 Blogger Na said...

And Fluffy - sorry, I just knew there was at least one other Texan Fiend I couldn't think of... until I clicked "post" of course.

At 21:22 Blogger Ticia said...

I had a funny moment of confusion just now, reading a comment a girl had made on my choice of music on my "Title" blog. It was a song by Patti Smith and she was saying that the song had been written by the Boss and I went "hu?" thinking "he's nowhere old enough for that" - thinking of Neil, obviously - before reading on and realizing she meant Bruce Springsteen! (And I did know he was called The Boss too. And that he had written songs for Patti Smith. Meh)
