Did I actually SLEEP?????

Well... I got up today and started my day, made some plans and talked with Merry Housekeeper, had some ideas did a few things laid down for a moment, and FIVE hours later woke up! WHAT?

Do you think it is possible I was a bit tired?? Must have really needed it, didn't even think I was going to sleep!

So, is it Ticia and Adri having the Firbay wishers today? And many happy returns to you!

And I don't think we have heard much from Marjorie and Louisa in Dublin, having gone to the screening and one hopes AFP tonight and a signing tomorrow? Let's get some stories here!

I know that as a blog post "HEY! I slept!" lacks something, but at the same time, you have all been there and KNOW how good i feels to catch up on sleep. For now, I am off to take Mr Dog out, he is doing great by the way and wants his restriction lifted, Friday he goes in for his final check up and after that will be free again, hopefully.

Love and sleep,
Lorraine

I'll bet you feel much more human now Lorraine.
I love those sleeps - they actually feel like you've achieved something!

Good for you, Lorraine! Sometimes that's exactly what is needed.

I'm off to Knitting Knight. :)

A little extra birthday present to yourself. Always a good idea. Glad to hear poochie is better & soon will be free to do poochie things. Smooches to the pooches!

At 17:36 Blogger Adri said...

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

I had to get up far too early to talk to Western Europe, myself, but hope to have a lie in tomorrow!

I just bought *small voice* four pairs of shoes for my birthday.

Feeling better indeed!

Adri, only FOUR? And it is your Firbay!

At 17:48 Blogger dabbler said...

I am envious. And sleep couldn't happen to a more deserving person...hope the dreams were wonderful!

You all had such great help for the wing question a while back, so you get another, on the theory that success should be rewarded with more work :-)

Does anyone know of a source for decent, not too scary monkey masks? I need four of them, and one monkey is also Glinda, so elaborate make-up won't work because there is no time. I can find ones for 55.00, NOT in the budget. Borrowable ones would be spectacular, or under $20, or ideas for looking like scary monkeys but going back to looking like Glinda in a ten minute span. My buddy who is doing makeup for us, and has done pro stuff, says it can't be done, but you fiends...worth asking!

At 18:00 Blogger Rubius said...

WOW... YOU got SLEEP????? That is a first. :-P

Happy Firbdays to all.

Yeah to Birthday shoes.

Make monkey masks? Paper-mache is your friend!! I'm all about home-made stuffz.

Way to NAP! I love naps. I'm so glad you got one, as after the few weeks you've had running the whole shebang, and taking care of dog and cats and EVERYTHING, you deserve at least one wonderful long nap! (Maybe more???)

And Happy Birthday to Adri and Ticia, two wonderful fiends who make this place better and brighter in every way! :-)

When sleep happens naturally like that it is such a good and real thing -- and clearly needed! Good job letting your body do what it needed to do! Wee!

(Makes me want to take a wee cat nap now!)

At 19:18 Blogger dabbler said...

Hmm. Wonder if I could order one mask, and then copy it in papermache.... got the wheels turning already. Thanks Rubious.
May be more than I can realistically tackle on top of the rest, but an idea seed.

I am disappearing to sleep...
catch up with you all tomorrow.

How can you run a house without a heating pad?

There used to be 3 of them here. 1 is now at work - what happened to the other 2? No, they are not in the hall closet. When you are in pain is not the time to start looking for them.

Sheesh.

Emily - did Will's temp go down? I hope so.

At 20:25 Blogger Siri said...

How do you pull a muscle in your neck, anyway?

At 20:26 Blogger Siri said...

Happy birthday to those having them. My recommendation? Don't, unless you are a very strong woman. Getting old ain't for sissys.

At 20:27 Blogger Jess said...

Sleeping is good. I'm just headed that way m'self. And so we pass like ships in the night.

Toot toot!

Happy birthdays to all, and to all a birthday night! Or something.

At 20:35 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Siri..are you saying you've not pulled a muscle in your neck before? Sheesh. I do it regularly. If you can't find your heatpacks, fill a sock with rice.(and heat it in the microwave of course)

At 20:38 Blogger Siri said...

Not like this - I can look up, and down, and left, but can't turn my head to the right for anything. Walking hurts, and once, when I was walking, I swallowed, and thought I was going to pass out. Driving is interesting, when you can't look to your right, and getting out of the car nearly made me cry.

I have a pack of some bean/seed type on my neck as I type - 1 minute in the microwave lasts about 20 minutes, but I notice my neck is a little red now - better stop.

Ibuprofen seemed to help too.

But how did I do it? Sheesh.

Sometimes, I think I'm a House Episode.

I'm exhausted, up since four myself, so off to bed - have a great evening all!

Hello everybody! Thanks for the wonderful Birthday wishes! I had a fabulous time this weekend. The heavy rains kept me in most of the weekend, but those are the best reading days. And it rained. Lots. So good! It's like a Birthday blessing.

Naps are also like a blessing so I'm glad you got a kickass one for your Birthday weekend Lorraine.

Okay, off to bed now... I only got 6 hours of sleep late night and no nap.

Nighty night all you fabulous fiends!

I'm not sure whether I've said hello to the new blog yet.

Happy Firbday to Ticia and Adri as well for the other day.

Phiala, I notice your comment just to my left and I find it very impressive that you are aquainted with the Knights who say Knit!!
I also agree with Ticia, and I want to say again how great your story was. There were some great twists and turns in it :)

Yay for Lorraine getting some beauty sleep (not that she needs it), although I find it doesn't help me much at all!!

Sal, I hope your kitty stabilises, good luck with injecting :(

Your right Sal, I remember Macy getting injections, she didn't even flinch. She loves tablets though, I think she's a bit of a hypochondriac!

Your right too Spacedlaw, Coraline 3D and AFP. Almost overload.

At 03:39 Blogger louisa said...

Nat is absolutely right, way too much fun to post last night, way too hungover for long post this morning. AFP started with The Wind that Shakes the Barley acapella - could have heard a pin drop - and ended with the whole room singing Creep, and that pretty much sums up the gig. Enjoyed an A-Team moment of getting Boss from the middle of the room through the crowd to the backstage bar, talked to interesting people until remembering it was a school night for me and scooting our party into a taxi.

And somehow I appear to be awake and upright and in my place of work but with not nearly enough caffeine in my system.

Still am a pain in the neck....no, make that still have a pain in the neck, so home today. For a visual, I look like the RCA Victor Dog, waiting for His Master's Voice.

Looked in a closet this morning, and found 4, count 'em 4 heating pads. We are a family of horders! I'm only going to use one of them. I'm a bit better, but am wise enough to know work will not calm stressed muscles. So, I can chat today. Didn't sleep really well, so I may nap. Looking forward to details of Dublin (The A-Team?) and doing laundry, so I'm not a total sloth.

Kitty,... go with your sanity over money (if that's the question)... unless you really need the money.

At 17:05 Blogger Ticia said...

Hi solitary fiends! Just dropping a line to say hi.

Siri - Everyone hates it when I say this, but... Cold is better for inflamed anything. Constant advil and cold to reduce the inflammation. Hot feels better, but it inflames more. I only say this because I HATE seeing you in pain.

Emily, I hope your brothers fever is better.

Rubius, I'm sure this comment will stir up the pot and there will be much distraction to be had. :-D

Tysie is awake, and so am I. Sort of.

At 17:39 Blogger Dragonsally said...

oh dear

At 17:43 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Kitty I'm thinking the Crue are probably a better choice (and I'm not even a fan) mainly because of the high-pitched shrillness of the Jonas Brothers fans has to shred your nerves night after night. Ticia's right though, the crew makes a big difference. (Can you tell I'm a libra..I just took 2 sides there;)

At 17:46 Blogger Chantrelle said...

AWw, Kitty, i have a soft spot in my heart for motely crue...they were my first arena concert as a teen--Dr. Feelgood baby! :) Nothing like seeing Tommy Lee in a leather g-string to scar a girl for life. :P

At 18:00 Blogger Rubius said...

So THAT's what did it Chantrelle...

hehe... I kid.

Thanks fiends. You have managed to cheer me up something fierce.

Arwenn, that was lovely.

Tic... correct me if I am wrong... I was told that heat helped to relax the muscles which helped in healing as relaxed muscles heal better than stressed muscles... to me that meant that heat helps at the beginning and if your muscles are sore... but cold helps to get rid of the inflammation afterward.

At 18:03 Blogger AletaMay said...

Fiends seem a bit quiet today. I have been distracted by other things. Not necessarily all very productive, but there you have it.

Sorry about the sore necks. Hate that.

Happy about fun being had in Dublin!

Kitty. I love the breadth of things Fiends do with their days. We all have wildly different choices to make and I love thinking about yours. Good luck making the decision.

OMF! How did it get to be 6pm???

At 18:04 Blogger Chantrelle said...

At 18:38 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hi everyone,

I've just got back from a run that I thought I'd go for, before it got too hot. I was wrong.

I always go straight for drugs when I'm in pain. The cocktail that works well for those sort of necks is valium (muscle relaxant) and voltaren (anti-inflammatory).
Whatever you do, I hope it gets better soon.

At 18:41 Blogger Adri said...

I'm finally converting a bunch of old ebooks into MOBI format so I can read them on my kindle.

I have discovered a DELIGHTFUL ebook organizer that works with multiple formats, reader types, etc that is free and open source. It's called Calibre and I'm loving it so far.

It's tedious work, but I'm excited to finally have this content available on the kindle, even though converting books that I bought (many times in both ebook and print format, sometimes twice) from one format to another makes me, legally, a damn dirty book pirate.

I have mixed feelings about this.

Announcing the First Ever Wall of Fiends Challenge!

You people are already making haiku's in here, let's give them a home. I want everyone to go to the Fiends page and leave a Haiku on the wall.

For any of you who are a bit fuzzy, here's the Wikipedia article.

3 Lines
5, 7 and 5 syllables.

Any topic you like, though preferably pertaining to fiendishness. Count your syllables and GO!

At 19:43 Blogger Siri said...

Been there. Done that. Where's the rest of you?

At 19:43 Blogger Ticia said...

Rubius- There are two schools of thought on the heat/ice thing. Both are convinced they're right.

All I can attest to is that when I was in a serious car accident, my chiropractor made me lay on an ice torture rack. And told me to stay away from heat.

And when my daughter had her knee surgery last month, it was ice for 20 off for 1 hour for 5 days. No heat.

I'm happy with anything that makes my loved ones and fiends free from pain.

Sorry I haven't been around. I'm just passing by to wave good-night.

Took Jack to see Coraline today. His first time, my second time. It didn't scare William, who is seven, but it DID end up scaring Jack.

"That was FREAKY!" he said when we walked out of the cinema - and yes, this is coming from someone who has read the book.

I love the music. I've had the little harp tune stuck in my head since this afternoon.

So now it's most definitely sleep time. I love sleep so much.
