As I Rode Out.....

A whole lot of Irish Songs start out with the line "As I Rode Out On A May Morning" and so I was rather excited about it being May, me having a horse and all. You have NO idea the things that can happen to people as they ride out these mornings. Generally involves a river or valley, someone washing something, an old women who turns into a demon, a lot of drinking, and a whole lot of SEX. You can see how I was looking forward to the possibilities.

Well, nothing happened. I mean, I had a GREAT ride. Really fun. Did great. me the canter are one now. No fear. Loveing the friends at the stable. But nothing, well, you know. Like the songs. May however, is not over yet, and I will ride every day. We will see.

The pictures tonight are all Bengals, as Nathilie said her cats were grumpy and could she please have some shots of happy cats to wake up to. That's Venus in the first one, licking her chops, and Magic in the next two. Whole lot of playing going on with that guy tonight. I think he really likes his new room, AND he came to the window when my guests were here tonight and Mewed at them!

Yes. I know. They are on the stove. They like it there. Weird. Good thing I don't cook much here.

Here's one of the Royals, King Lear the Huge, and below, his little friend Queen Mab. They are fosters still waiting to find their Home and their Person. I know this Person is out there, and I will find them. Speaking of Bengals who need help, we have recently heard about a cat hoarder, who had Bengals. A lot of Bengals.

As in about 85.

Sadly, they were siezed (well, good they were siezed, but sad they were in the state they were in.)

Some had to be put down.

About 14 of them have come to Great Lakes Bengal Rescue, and we need homes and foster homes for them. If you live in Michigan or Indiana and can help, please get in touch with GLBR or myself. They are currently in a shelter, but shelters dont' like Bengals, and we are worried they may be put down as well. These are VERY adoptable cats. Sweet loving and they need places. Even temporary places. This isn't their fault, and they are scared, and alone.

We can help them, and will help them. That's what we do. But this is a lot of cats to get at once.

Janet, president of Great Lakes Bengal Rescue says she won't ask you for $$, as she says everyone here has been so very generous, but I will ask. All of these cats need to be spayed, get shots, and tests. We don't take money as Foster homes, but getting them there takes gas. This rescue, I've just heard, is going to cost $3000.

If you can adopt a Bengal, you will be forever grateful. If you can foster, you can't know how good it feels when they find their people. If you have any amount of $$ and can send it, we will Bless you every day.

And I will once again do the Unicorn Song, live, on a webcast, during the Fiend Weekend in June.

(Edited to add: Or not. We are now taking donations with votes FOR and AGAINST doing the Unicorn Song Live.)

donate@greatlakesbengalrescue.com.

I can't save them all, but I sure as hell am going to make a difference for a few.

Love and Bengals,
Lorraine

I just sometimes worry that they will accidentally light the burner, you know!

Great happy photos. Hurray for finding the zen of the canter. Huge "As I rode out on a May morning" adventures will come in time I am sure.

What Aleta said. :-D

Magic looks so different - all that uncertainty in his face has gone.
Kudos for you bringing about that change.

I am passing around the link about the rescue, I know other Fiends are doing the same.

This sort of seizure and rescue breaks my heart every time.

Sounds like a lovely day...minus the horrible bengal news :(

About May, to quote JoCo, "Celebrate spring with a crazy little thing called f*!@*ing outside" :)

Hubby leaves tomorrow for 2 weeks!! Stupid business trip. Temporary single mom, blah.

Gayle, you're moving to CA??!?!

At 22:49 Blogger DataGoddess said...

Maidens riding out on May mornings have to have the long dress, hat, gloves, etc, don't they? Isn't that a requirement for Adventure to happen to them?

Love the photos, especially of Magic. He's such a changed boy from when you got him, much happier.

You fiends better behave yourselves while I'm gone, there's no way I'll be able to keep up!!

At 22:52 Blogger vampi said...

hooray for unicorn song! (boo for the reason) bless you.

wow, your bengals are beautiful. i'm a dog person, but i do lust after your cats. it's a shame i can't have pets. besides the apartment limitation, boy and i work opposite schedules so it would be a sad kitty not getting attention as they would always be with a sleeping human.

At 23:11 Blogger ariandalen said...

Happy Bengals at Spooky House! :)

::sigh::
Hmmmm. . . Here's to good things happening to rescued Bengals. c\_/

Uh, Chantrelle, in Texas fornicating outside leads to mosquito bites in awkward places. Heck, just sleeping without covers can lead to mosquito bites in awkward places.

{{{Gayle}}} Things will get better. Take time to Breathe.

I live in MI. I will see if my mother can take one or two or a handful until I graduate and move into an apartment. Also I will ask my friends if they would like some. Is there a website or some such?

At 00:28 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Thanks for the kitty pictures!
Even the kitties looking grumpy (if not down right pissed off) on the stove are fun.
Magic looks so much more confident now. And there is STRING!
Everyone needs kitty pictures at the start of the day, so thanks again.

Nice to know that someone managed to make non hellish sounds on the organ. These things can be real banshees. Which can be met on bridge by riding maiden (in may or not). On the other hand, I have never seen an organ on a bridge.
A mighty scary sight this must be.

Riiight...
Off to control a galley (no whipping involved - I hope).

At 02:35 Blogger Marjorie said...

Pretty Kitty pictures - lovely to see first thing in the morning (or any other time) And Magic out and playing - he looks so contented ;-)

Perhaps *you* are the fair lady hat someone else is due to meet with all of a may morning, did you consider that? Practice being mysterious, just in case.

I can't offer a home to the bengals - Tybalt wouldn't cope, even if I were on the right side of the Atlantic, but have send a little contribution (although I am in 2 minds as to whether we want the unicorn song... Can we lobby for the 'As I was a-riding all on a May monrning absolutely nothing happened' song, instead?

At 02:56 Blogger spacedlaw said...

I'll support the motion for the "anything else instead of the Unicorn song" song.

Happy May riding, and may adventures (of the good kind) come your way. It was a bad pet day yesterday, what with bengal news and that my sister had to euthanize her 12 year old English Sheepdog. Such a good friend he was; living with giant dogs takes a special person (at one time she had 300 pounds of dog in the sheepdog and Dino her Great Dane living with them). Rest well, old friend.

Think happy thoughts for me over the next three days as I chaperon the senior retreat. Please, wish me no teen sex or drinking (among other miscreant behaviors) on my watch. I teach at a fancy schmancy private school, so who knows!!! After I get back it's immediately off to South Dakota (driving) to throw my mother an 80th birthday party (130 of her closest personal friends). I hope that I have an hour in there somewhere to color my lovely gray/brown roots blonde!

At 05:51 Blogger spacedlaw said...

I thought you meant a gang of pensioners when you said "senior retreat"... Those would be glad for teenage sex.

Poor doggy.

At 05:52 Blogger spacedlaw said...

BY which ,I meant "teenage-like sex" and not sex with teenage. Just in case someone got confused...

At 06:42 Anonymous Anonymous said...

The Bengals are all beautiful and I love that they sit on the cooker! My cats just worship in front of the oven and I'm convinced they are learning to cook in the night.

Don't suppose we could persuade Mr. Neil to smuggle a Bengal across the Atlantic next time??

At 06:55 Blogger Hellie said...

"Mr Neil's Bengal Delivery Service" does have a ring to it....... but I think he might be busy enough already!

Seriously, I do wish I were close enough to be able to take some of the poor kitties in. A donation is all I can do, and send good thoughts that they will all find happy, caring homes.

Morning!

Ok, taking donation FOR and AGAINST the Unicorn Song....Let the game begin!

Got woke by my neighbor at SIX this morning. Mim had taken out a screen and gone walk about. I need this porch.

Now I am sleepy.

Bengals to the UK! Hidden in luggage!

Or something. Thank you all for caring so and helping us. This is an expensive rescue.

At 08:25 Blogger One Sock Short said...

The look on Venus and Mim's faces on that stove - "Make turkey come out of this thing. Now."

Magic looks so happy. You have done wonders with him.

Phoebe insists on being an only cat. But I can certainly help with the expenses, and will do so tonight. The woman who found Phoebe insisted on paying her vet bills, before bringing her to me. I can do no less for someone who finds room in their home for one of these cats.

The highlight of my day so far is the large patch of lily-of-the-valley in the yard of the house next to me. Indeed, the entire front "yard" (about 3x4 at most) is lily-of-the-valley. Mmmm, that flower is right up there with lilacs for me. In part because they are with us for so brief a time; they must be enjoyed to the full while they are here.

Wishing everyone the best of May adventures.

At 08:27 Blogger Dan Guy said...

Those cats are clearly Up To Something.

At 08:30 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Hmmm, I don't think I've ever heard the Unicorn Song. But since you have written about most people's reluctance to play it, I'm guessing that I would want my contribution to be a vote against. I'm with Marjorie in preferring an "As I was a-riding all on a May morning, absolutely nothing happened" song.

At 08:50 Blogger Bridget said...

The look on King Lear's face is... marvelous. I wish very much that we were their home, but I know we're not.

Some day, though, I will be able to give a home to one. Or two.

Until then...

*love*

Just edited the post to reflect the voting FOR and AGAINST the Unicorn Song!

Or for the May Morning Original song I will write. Let me know what you want!

Dan, they are Bengals. OF COURSE they are up to something.

Had a note from someone just now who wants to adopt 2 of the 14. HURRAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At 09:01 Blogger Marjorie said...

Hurrah for adopters.!

And just so we're clear,my donation goes in the new-song-not-unicorn-song heap (although I feel sure that the Unicorn song by Quiche is bettter than the Unicorn Song by anyone else, its just that I was scarred for life by foolishly clicking on the link to it before...)

BTW, just found out I may be able to get to a itsy bitty little con at the weekend, where DWJ is a guest! Ticia, if I make it there, d'you want me to try to get your Goon signed?

At 09:09 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Beez iis coming to garden today! She is not a very early riser tho and has not got my e-mail telling her better directions that near the lake by the graveyard.

She might not know yet too I am going riding , as it is still May and I have high hopes.

Still, I told her what to do.

Plant things.

Seems clear to me.

At 09:13 Blogger Ticia said...

Marjorie, that would be brilliant!

Hi Fiends, bye Fiends!

At 09:15 Blogger Marjorie said...

'Plant Things' - you could come back to find zombie hands sprouting - or did you specify only planting plant-type things? Enjoy your ride!

At 09:51 Blogger Jess said...

Sending Janet a check today. Put me down for anything-but-unicorns.

Yay for adopters!

Your bengals are lookin' mighty fine. Magic's totally PWNING that string.

Nathalie - Organ on a bridge was the first thing that came to my mind. Hee! :D That's very Terry Gilliam.

Go Beez! Plant those things! \o/

So is it wrong to eat leftover crispy sesame chicken for breakfast? Because that's what I've just done. Technically it's brunch after 10:00 anyway, right?

At 11:00 Blogger Na said...

I'm with Adri - the story breaks my heart. And I can't do much of anything to help, except spread the word. Might be able to send something later in the month.

First glances at the Magic pics, I didn't realize it was him! Lear looks like a smarty pants in his. All happy Bengals. 'Tis good.

As for May, I say, May Schmay. It's STILL spitting snow here, and I for one am getting very crabby (but not stabby) about it.

Good news of our morning is that the last three days of my son's school year are all field trips. I am planning to take him out three days early so we can travel east for Fiendom Come, and can now do so with a clean mama-conscience.

Taking what I can get.

At 11:54 Blogger Phiala said...

Dog stories, to add variety to the Bengal tales: Grendel is feeling slightly better. The anesthesia has worn off, and he's not so whiny. Poor boy spent the evening tucked under the dining room table whining quietly.

He didn't eat breakfast - I bet his teeth hurt. And very, VERY clingy. He followed me into the bathroom this morning, and sprawled on the bathmat as I showered. The shower faces the wall, and there's just enough room for the glass door to open. The cat was disgruntled when he had to climb over the dog to get to the shower, and it was challenging to open the door wide enough to let the cat into the shower while the dog was laying on on the bathmat and the cat was climbing over him. But the cat must have his damp-shower time.

Yes, my animals are weird. :)

The $900 vet bill cuts into my ability to support Bengals right now. Soon, though, I hope.

What wonderful Bengal photos, thank you! I sent my little bit to Bengal rescue, and am pro-Unicorn song.

Kate, condolences to your sister; it's so hard to lose our critters.

OSS, I swoon over your lily-of-the-valley lawn, the perfume of them must be even nicer than Spicy Brains.

Marjorie, ack, zombie hands! Although, young staghorn ferns look somewhat hand-like (ponders).

Phiala, poor Grendel! And can you say what your cat _does_ in the shower? I R intrigued.

At 12:29 Blogger Phiala said...

Morgan sits in the shower, drapes his fluffy tail in the puddles at the bottom, watches beads of water roll down the walls. Sometimes he licks them.

He likes to play in the sink too. And no, no Bengal blood whatsoever. :)

At 12:48 Blogger One Sock Short said...

That's some fairly odd, but cute, cat behavior. Phoebe likes to wait on the bathmat so she can start rubbing against my legs as soon as possible. How dare I make myself not smell like her?!

At 12:56 Blogger hope said...

Phiala, hee! Cats + water = irresistably cute, in my opinion. does Morgan paint you with that damp tail after? My water-loving cat would have.

OSS, and of course the sensation of fur on wet skin is so wonderful. :)

I was pretty much spot-on about the post. Good luck with the Bengal rescue. I am hoping ... and ... er ... well, I think I might be the only Fiend who goes to church ... but I am praying as well, in church, and away from church, you know.

Um, I hope it's clear that when I say "share our different experiences" I do not mean proselytize (I tend to only do that about knitting). This is a piece of me. I will share only to the extent that anyone is interested in it.

Okay, back to assuming the sudden silence is just a coincidence...

My thoughts are with the kitties in need and ((hugs)) to the people who are opening their hearts to save these beauties.

At 14:15 Blogger Marjorie said...

Love Simon's Cat, Louisa.

Ticia - you'll love JTR (Well, I did) I've only just started the other two, but i'm liking them so far, too..

Are any fiends joining in with Jonathan Ross's twitter Bookclub? Apparently JonRonson's amazpn sales went up by 7000% when Wossy picked his book... (It's an interesting book, too - 'The Men who stare at goats')

At 14:23 Blogger Adri said...

BigCatRescue is notoriously anti-bengal. If you want to help bengals, donating to bengal-specific rescues or the ASPCA is the way to go! :)

Fiends today I am cleaning and purging stuff because we found out we are for sure moving to California at the end of June! (Bay Area Fiends-- Peter and I will be in SF/Oakland for four days starting Monday to find an apartment. Would love to meet up! Also email me adrienne.haik at gmail with fabulous fiendish 'moving to SF' advice :D )

It's exciting but eeeeesh there's so much to do!

At 14:36 Blogger bengalgirl said...

Quick but brief update. Friday hubby and I will go to Flint and pull the cats. They will then go to a Vet Clinic about 40 minutes away where they will be boared and spayed. That will give me time to get applicants screened and find foster homes for the remaining cats. Thank you all for your good wishes and donations. We ended up using the Vet of a previous adopter who came in about $200 cheaper than the other Vet.

At 14:37 Blogger bengalgirl said...

Hmmm, boared, I don't think that is another name for spay but....

boarded is better.

At 14:37 Blogger louisa said...

Yay Ticia! So glad it arrived quickly and in one piece :) That's gotta be one of the oddest literary threesomes!

Emily - new picture!

Good luck with the move Adri, seems like there's many of us shifting abodes for various reasons at the moment. Gayle, I hope the unknown-scariness and overwhelmingness is less for you today, and will be less again tomorrow. It can be so hard to breathe through it sometimes.

"Mr Neil's Bengal Delivery Service" sounds like something that would be in one of his stories, appropriate I think.

It's great to see how much progress has been made with finding homes, temporary or otherwise, for the rescue cats. Love the new pics of all the Bengals, and to hear of Mim's latest screen-removal adventure.

And finally, I'd just like to point out that it doesn't have to be a May morning:
Near Oranmore in the County Galway,
One pleasant evening in the month of May,
I spied a cailín, she was young and handsome
And her beauty fairly took my breath away.

At 14:38 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Ticia. The shirt. It rocks.

At 15:06 Anonymous kali_licious said...

I do wish I could give some Bengals a home..but putting them in an apartment this small would just be cruel (and a lot like being trapped in a small space with madly rebounding Superballs;). Plus I'm getting ready for school, which will keep me away from home. Someday, if I get a house..

Ticia that shirt is made of WIN!:)

Louisa, Simon's Cat is one of my favorites.

Phiala, poor Grendel puppy. It's funny that Morgan likes the shower. I had a cat who had to pace the tub edges whenever I took a bath, but if the shower was on he'd skedaddle.

At 15:24 Blogger Hellie said...

Ok, I just sent a little donation - I'm quite intrigued by the idea of a new song, a mysterious maiden on her trusty steed on a misty may morning? By the by, any Seth Lakeman fans here? He writes lots of songs based on English myths and legends, including one about a women that disguises herself as a white hare and steals peoples souls!

Rubius, what do you think of Tori's new album? I've been listening to it constantly the last day or so and loving it!

At 15:45 Blogger Marjorie said...

Hmm. Looks like DWJ this weekend is unlikely to happen - apparently she is unwell and may not be able to be there. :-(

On the plus side, I've ordered Tori's new albulm (I do like to have CDs - I have a fear that downloads will suddenly disappear or stop working..) hopefully that will be here in the next day or two.

At 15:50 Blogger Hellie said...

I expect I'll get it on CD as well, but I couldn't pass up the tickets presale! Marjorie did you see the tour dates? Do you want me to email you the password on Saturday, hopefully it will work more than once! My email is pilgrim.helen@gmail.com

Off on a slight tangent, I keep noticing that Nick Drake songs are suddenly being used for every documentary or advert going!!

At 16:02 Blogger Rubius said...

Actually I only realized there was a new Tori CD yesterday and I haven't heard all of it yet. I have been listening to three tracks that are on youtube... and I have been enjoying them. I am most excited that she is doing a new tour. Unfortunately she is going to be skipping Vancouver so I am hoping that maybe I can catch her show back east. On that topic I think I am, sadly, going to miss Fiendom-come but I expect that I will be going out east in August. I may be able to swing a Tori concert while in Montreal.

I'd do a mixtape swap, Vampi! Though judging by your lastfm library, we'd end up giving each other a lot of the same stuff. :D But I'm up for it!

Morning all. I so fell asleep last night way too early, which was good.

I'm going to ride out again today. Starting to lose my early May optimism but if nothing else, I am getting really good on this horsie, which I love.

I had hopes for my porches but it looks like Hans is going out to see the Boss and take care of the trees that came down in the wind yesterday. He doesn't know this yet, but I am sure he will shortly.

No Bengals went walkabout in the night. And Magic only peed his futon once.

Why am I telling you this?

At 08:22 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Good morning! Sounds like a good night all around, bengals (mostly) cooperating with your well-deserved rest and all. A pleasant ride to you. Getting good at something you love is such a joy.

Cat pee is a Fact of Nature. We mustn't shield ourselves from Facts.

Didn't realise just how windy it got out there yesterday. It's just been pleasantly springy here. Might go out and weed today. Or not.

At 09:07 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Has anyone seen my motivation anywhere? I already checked under the cat.

At 09:10 Blogger spacedlaw said...

It went to the beach with mine and they are currently pinching cabana boys' butts while seeping on frozen margaritas.
Time for me to go home, I think.

At 09:20 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Your motivation is pinching cabana boys butts????

Cooler than mine. Mine seems to be trying to find reasons not to get off my butt and ride.

Right. I am out of here.

At 09:22 Blogger Lyndyn said...

Wish I could physically help with the down on their luck bengals...did send moola though! :)

At 09:46 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Lucky motivation. Wish it had invited me along, instead of leaving me to compile statistics and write reports. Harrumph.

On the bright side, my Rocking Sock Club package has just shipped. So I have new sock yarn to look forward to next week.

At 10:05 Blogger vampi said...

oh jess, my last.fm only reflects the music i have at work. i have many many more songs at home :) i used to work in a record store, i have boxes and boxes of cd's, and boy has gigs and gigs of mp3's.

At 11:16 Blogger Amy said...

Speaking of musics-there's a great site out there. Pandora. You type in a couple of bands you like, and it fills in a whole bunch. I just learned about it today, and am already adding to my cd wishlist at a frightening speed. (I also like to have the actual cd.)

Not sure how to do the linky thing, but the website is http://www.pandora.com/

I'm excited to see the garden too. That's the downside to living in my apartment. I don't think my landlord would appreciate it if I started digging up all the yard. =)

At 12:02 Blogger vampi said...

amy, pandora is great too. i don't tend to use it because i have a glut of mp3's hanging around and also boy bought me a last.fm membership so i get faster servers and can play more songs.

for links you have to use the html tags they look like this with outbthe spaces between the brackets

< a href="http://www.link here"> text you want to be all clicky< /a>

i have an apartment and we have pots of herbs and flowers on our balcony.

At 14:17 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Got an update from my motivation. The beach got too hot, so it's now hanging out at a London yarn shop called I KNIT London. Checked out their website, and boy am I ever mad that my motivation went there without me.

At 14:44 Blogger EmilyLady said...

I would be babysitting right now instead of sitting here in the library if the wee one weren't throwing up. Sigh. Poor baby.

As for the church stuff, no worries, I can most definitely and without a shadow of a doubt skip one Sunday. Fod doesn't hate people for sharing love, right? Go Fiends!

At 14:46 Blogger EmilyLady said...

OSS, I tried to Direct Message you on Twitter but my account never seems to let me do that. My e-mail is EmilyOliveP@yahoo.com, and rest assured, it was no big deal.

At 14:48 Blogger Fluffy said...

Hm. I wondered what happened to my motivation. I found it in the back yard lounging on the patio, drinking virtual martinis and thumbing it's nose at me.

I may join it, but without the alcohols. Haz the headache today. Not so bad, now, but still lingering line a visiting relative. Out, I say!

At 14:49 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Emily - nope, the dm worked; mine never looks like it works either

At 14:50 Blogger Fluffy said...

Oh, and Lorraine, May Adventures strike When You Least Expect Them (but still in May, obviously, so you would expect that much...)

At 15:18 Blogger AletaMay said...

Hey Q. I just suggested to Kyle Cassidy that he come to Charlie's tomorrow night.

At 15:24 Blogger Marjorie said...

Is anyone about? feeling the need for some fiendish love here - spent 2 hours sitting in a hosptial waiting room this evening to get checked out ater someone rear-ended me as I was coming ome from work.

No serious injury but still feeling rather shaken, and somewhat whip-lashed (which sounds as if it should be a whole lot more exotic than it is.)

[/shameless play for tea & sympathy

At 15:25 Blogger One Sock Short said...

{{Marjorie}}

Virtual tea and much sympathy! Hope the after-effects are very short-lived indeed.

At 15:29 Blogger Marjorie said...

Me Too! Unfortunately I have a longstanding back/shoulder problem which is flaring up as a result.

On the plus side, housemate has been very good and cooked supper & given me tea & chocolate..

At 15:30 Blogger Phiala said...

Marjorie! Yikes! I hope you are truly okay, and the tea and chocolate (real and virtual) are comforting.

I've been in that situation, and know how horrible it is.

At 15:31 Blogger AletaMay said...

Oh Margorie! That is so disrupting! :hugs: Hot bath maybe? Yay for housemate who is kind and helpful on such a day.

At 15:34 Blogger Marjorie said...

Thank you.

I'm tempted by the hot bath, but the hosptial said "hot bath will encourage bloodvessels to expand leading to more infammation/internal bruises & therefore being more uncomfortale afterwards"

They also said. You have soft tissue injury. No, no treatment other than painkillers, yes, it will probably hurt more before it starts to get better.

For now, have gone for the 'stiff gin, applied internally' option instead.

At 15:35 Blogger AletaMay said...

Sounds like a good treatment to me!

At 15:36 Blogger vampi said...

so sorry to hear about the accident. i'm glad you are not seriously injured. i hope your pains subside quickly.

car accidents, no mattter how minor are disconcerting.

At 15:37 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Excellent course of treatment. I have to admit, when my neck problems flare up, wine works so much better than painkillers, and with far fewer side effects.

At 15:39 Blogger Jess said...

*teas, sympathises*

Oh my! How awful. Glad you're okay, Marjorie. Definitely hot bath. And wine if it's about.

At 15:40 Blogger Rubius said...

Marjorie, I am so sorry to hear about this. I hope you feel better soon. My prescription: Have a shot of gin and another one in the morning.

:-)

At 15:41 Blogger Jess said...

Ah. Just caught up: no hot bath. I was right about the wine, though! :)

At 15:41 Blogger Marjorie said...

Thank you. I'm glad I'm OK too. And to be fair, I couldn't have been hot by a nicer couple...

At 15:58 Blogger Arwenn said...

Marjorie - VERY glad to hear that you're okay and I hope that the gin and painkillers are most effective.

Seriously though, how dare someone run into that adorable little car of yours?!

At 16:17 Blogger Fluffy said...

(((Marjorie))) Sending virtual gin, tea, chocolates and some lovely digestive biscuits (which heroines in O'Brian and Pratchett novels subsist on in times of trouble.) Just in case of shortages.

I know this sounds crass and unfeeling, but how is the car? I am emotionally attached to mine, is why I asked. When I was in a head-on collision years ago the only thought that went through my head before the impact was that my car was a goner. RIP Honda Accord...

At 16:24 Blogger Marjorie said...

Thank you all..

Fluffy - I'm not certain about the car. It looks OK on the ouside, but several of the warning lights came on & didn't go off, so I think, like me it's a bit shaken up. I will talk to his doctors tomorrow..I think it'slikely to be repairs rather than writeoff, tho - I was stopped at a junction when they hit me so it was all at low speed.

I think I am going to go to bed now, before the gin (real and virtual) wears off.

At 16:26 Blogger Fluffy said...

Good thinking. Sleep well.

At 17:11 Blogger Na said...

Eeee. Marjorie, so glad no one was seriously hurt! Take care.

At 17:29 Blogger Dragonsally said...

((((((((Marjorie))))))))

being rear-ended is awful. Relieved that neither you or car were seriously injured.

At 20:08 Blogger AletaMay said...

I just got home a bit ago from a lovely coffee with the woman Lorraine calls "the Flash Girls Fan" She lurks here from time to time. I told her to delurk and come to the Fiendom Gathering. We'll see. I doubt she'll be able to make the trip, but it is always nice to plant the seed.

I hope both of us will make it to Charlie's tomorrow night. Wee.

Siri and Q I sent you both emails. Hope you see them.

At 20:55 Blogger dabbler said...

Oh Marjorie, I'm sorry. Damn Physics....converting motion into stop sets off such problems. Glad the people were nice, and best of luck tomorrow with the ensuing stiffness. I would suggest ice, both in the gin, and on the sore spots.

Can't remember what else I was wanting to say...waves on way to bed. A long day.

At 21:52 Blogger Siri said...

long day.
long week.
long month.

Hugs to you, MT - I like the application of gin to solve all ills.

(Look - that is a visual poem.)

Over the last few days, I have come here, wanting to type whines and whinges and moans and groans, but when I get here, I see the love of all of us for all of us and I feel better. The bad stuff is still out there (nothing fatal, or painful - just life as it is right now) but I read about the zen of the canter, and motivation pinching cabana boys and pretty kitties and mixedCD trades (I'm afraid no one will want mine - how high school is that?) and I feel better.

Even seeing the love for Marjorie and her car, knowing how jarred she is, but how hugged long distance. It really really does help everything else.

T - 33 days till I'm in MN for a very very long and lovely weekend.

At 22:03 Blogger vampi said...

siri, i want your mix :)
i'm going to start working on mine.

At 22:12 Blogger Beez said...

Ack ((((Marjorie!))))

Hot bath would be so nice, but the nasty doctors are right- ice ice baby....

I am having the best time today. I ran some paperwork around on the new house and then went vintage/retro shopping and THEN went to the Salvation Army where I actually bought stuff. We are trying to keep the retro limited to a few rooms (ours tends to have a high 'Cheese Factor' but I fear it will spread and spread. I am going to use old album covers as wall art, and today I found 1)a Dean Martin album 2)a French album that seems to be showing facial exercises on the cover- love the looks! and 3) An Accordian In Paris! Maximum Cheese!

...also purple flowers for her Quichieness. More plants muahahaha.

At 22:21 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Marjorie, very sorry to hear that, but happy that you are typing and not say, in a coma.

Beez, I can't believe you bought me all those plants! And purple ones!

I am doing a new post now, got a little sidetracked tonight hottubbing with BLL (Barely Legal Lesbian) Not at all a bad time.

At 22:21 Anonymous kali_licious said...

Tea, sympathy, painkillers, and an icepack, Marjorie. Hope you wake up feeling better.

Fluffy I think you and I have the same headache. I love your description - it's so apt.:)

I wish I could make mix cds (even though mine would certainly be a bit weird) but sadly my computer lacks both the memory needed and the processing speed..it's only um..8-9 years old?lol

At 22:30 Blogger Beez said...

BLL?

*falls over laughing*

My plan is to see how much purple floriferousness bang for the buck I can get into your garden. I loves a challenge.

At 22:57 Blogger Na said...

I like what you said there Siri. :) On crummy days, it's awfully nice to stop in and soak up some good fiendish vibes.

BLL: GOL

At 23:07 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

New post up.

Heh.

At 23:16 Blogger ariandalen said...

Glad you are okay, Marjorie! Whiplash, even when minor, is no fun.

"BLL"

::grin:: Glad you had/are having a good time, Ms. Fabulous.

MixCDs? Where would I start? I have everything from the sublime to the ridiculous. Unfortunately, a lot is still on LP, and DH doesn't have loads of time to spend right now converting. ::sigh:: Such a dilemma.

At 00:10 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Sorry to read about the accident Marjorie. Of course, I am coming way too late to tell you that alcohol would have the same effect on your blood vessels than a hot bath and therefore should be avoided...
Get better soon.

BLL? Sounds like you had a terrific time... :) (You deserve it)

At 03:49 Blogger Marjorie said...

Nat, I think I'm glad you were too late...

At 04:13 Blogger spacedlaw said...
