Too late for rock but eager to see pics!

At 02:32 Anonymous kali_licious said...

Sorry I missed ya, today was a looong day wherein I walked all over Haight Ashbury and then had a great belly dance class at the Fat Chance studio. I also kinda forgot about the time differential..DOH!
But I'm sure there was much ROCK and rockin' Fiends.:)

At 06:41 Blogger Marjorie said...

there was indeed much rock!

At 08:28 Blogger Na said...

While this might sound a bit silly, still it is true.... missed chatting with all Fiends online last night, even being in the room to hear the music live.

At 09:24 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Missed the Fiends who weren't there LOTS, ope you got to see some show!

LOVED meeting the Fiends who were there. Nathilie and I watched them from the car, eating dinner on the patio, and I said I would not go until I figured out who they all were.

I am so shy. Really.

The Fiends go witht he Birdchick today, but I have things here, and it is so far, and I need to rock tonight. Tomorrow tho, we HANG!

Hey, Fiends! I hope you're having a fiend-tastic time!

A friend of mine just passed me this link to the cartoon web series
Making Fiends.

It cracked me up with its fantastic fiendishness.

At 10:30 Blogger Beez said...

Ah, love Making Fiends muchly I do.

Last night was great and hilarious. Adam's "Groundskeeper Willie" Zepplin cracked me up....and in a bit of serendipity Stairway to Heaven came on the radio just as I got home.

I have family stuff to do, so I will be joining you later this afternoon.

At 10:57 Blogger Na said...

Anyone around?

At 11:28 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Nathilie and I aew sort of, I'm leaving a message with Aleta who is with the Birders, and asked her and those HORRIBLE FIENDS who left you alone behind and friendless to give you a call or post here letting you know The Plans.

I'll see you at the show tonight tho!

At 11:58 Blogger Na said...

Thanks, Q! It took some trying but Aleta & I connected just as I checked back here. She's a-comin' to give me a lift. Honestly the prospect of some forced free time was singing a siren song, too. See you for the rock.

At 14:38 Blogger gaypet said...

I spent the morning and early afternoon at the clinic. My mild ear pain from last night has turned into a raging inferno. I am going to rest and take drugs now. I hope to be there tonight but we shall see. Tomorrow, at least, I should be able to hang.

I'm sure you all are having a great time!!! See you soon.

Na, I have tried to call you several times but it goes to voice mail. I am wondering if I have the wrong number some how. Give me a call when you get a chance! :)

At 15:52 Blogger AletaMay said...

Na is now safe in the midst of fiends. Many of the lovely fiends are now bookstoring and such. I am on the sofa about to nap. See you later!

Call me if there are other desasters to be averted!

At 17:05 Blogger Chantrelle said...

We've spent most of the afternoon in the ho-towel room letting ben play and do what he wants since tonight we will sit him in the pub again w/ the ipod and video games :P

At 00:24 Blogger Rubius said...

Thanks for hte show last night Lorraine and Paul!!!! It was wonderful to see you on camera, again.

Lots of love to all the fiends.

Kristina

At 02:00 Blogger Fluffy said...

It's rather late, but the three of us are up playing with our cameras and being silly. I think bed and sleep should be happening now. Yes. Right....now!

See ya tomorrow!

At 03:57 Blogger Dragonsally said...

*sigh*

damned pain and painkillers that knock you out. I've missed you all, and only got to see a little of the first gig. Of all the weekends to be so ouchy, my body picks this one.

Still - I am looking forward to more photos and Ticia's videos and hope you all have a great Sunday

At 04:02 Blogger scored4life said...

Hmmm. 4 AM and can't sleep. That was an incredible amount of energy and fun tonight! Truly amazing and fantastic to be with you all!

At 06:40 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Hullo, Fiends.
Good morning, evening and whatever it is your time (I am getting so time confused, I can't figure out f you might be sleeping, Sally).
The show was great last night!

At 07:47 Blogger Marjorie said...

Hi sally, sorry you've been in pain and missed us. I'm pretty confidnt that there will be more photos and videos uploading pretty soon...

At 07:54 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Indeed. Loaded three fiend pictures on twitpic (and am now doing the same - and more - on to Flickr).
More pictures to come today...

At 08:09 Blogger Na said...

Thank you PAUL!!!! Thank you LORRAINE!!!!

And thanks again to Aleta, o Averter & Ameliorator of Disasters.

Hi Rubius!

Sally and Gayle, {get well} {hugs}

Does it sound like I have any energy this morning? I dun't.

At 08:14 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Note the lovely job Nick did fixing the edge. He fixed a few other things too, and that knife is now BETTER than the rest of the expensive set. *grin* He and I did the etching - sekrit project mentioned here. ;) We consulted with Neil, and all agreed the knife should have sort of special label.

At 09:30 Blogger Beez said...

That is a beautiful piece of work.

At 09:32 Blogger Phiala said...

I think Q liked it: http://img44.yfrog.com/i/7k7.jpg/

That's great.... I love the etching.

At 13:53 Blogger dabbler said...

Got to hear part of last night's second set. Loved it. Sang along a lot...

Miss the reading of comments and interaction...wish I was there.

And love the exploding knife saga...beautiful work Phiala and Nick.

At 16:57 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Ahhh, the knife was in the box.

Much better today - not going to be unpicking and resewing anything for a while, its not good for your health ::grin::

At 23:39 Blogger Phiala said...

I have a new buddy. *grin*

I hear someone might be making an airport run Tuesday morning. (El?) If so, me too???

At 08:53 Anonymous Wendy Withers said...

Hope you guys had fun! Maybe I'll have the money and time to join next year! (Please tell me there will be a next year.)

At 08:58 Blogger Phiala said...

We haven't consulted with Q yet - she may be filing restraining orders to keep us all out of Minnesota - but we were discussing every 2 years, to allow sufficient recovery time. :)

At 09:17 Anonymous Wendy Withers said...

I hope you guys behaved yourself at least somewhat. A restraining order keeping me out of MN would really hamper my graduate school plans.

At 09:21 Blogger Phiala said...

You weren't here; I think you're probably safe.

The rest of us... We were all very well behaved, honest. *blink*blink*

At 09:53 Anonymous Wendy Withers said...

Ah. I thought it would be some blanket restraining order, for every fiend past, present, or future.

You have to think of the children!

At 18:09 Blogger Siri said...

And, if anyone is still reading this, rather than twittering (I believe I'm the lone hold out)

I'm home.

Missing you all.

At 18:10 Blogger Siri said...

Yup. I'm the only one here.

Sigh

At 18:17 Blogger Dragonsally said...

No, no you're not Siri.

I'm here too!

At 18:22 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

They are just waiting for the new post and pics, which isn't coming tonight, sadly, as I am still at work, and won't be home until after 1 tonight, and then I am SLEEPING.

Tomorrow night tho for certain....

At 18:58 Blogger Phiala said...

Hi Siri glad you made it home safe, Hi Sally sad you couldn't come!

The remaining Fiends are all out gallivanting while I slave over a hot laptop, writing an article that's due... um... tomorrow. Right. Slaving, laptop.

As long as it's in by Thursday, all will be well.

Q, 1?? Ick. Glad you got a day off and hopefully got some sleep last night.

At 19:15 Blogger Na said...

Thought of you, Siri as we toodled down through Iowa.

At 19:17 Blogger Siri said...

Sorry, Sal - I had to get food in me. I missed you bunches, and was never on line to tell you so. Did you get to gig at all?

Na, if you were on I35 South, you went right past my house. I hope it waved at you...

At 19:24 Blogger Dragonsally said...

*smooches Siri*

I saw part of the first gig, before being struck down by ugly pain. was pretty much a wash-out weekend for me.

However, photos and videos are helping me to feel part of it.

At 19:29 Blogger Jane said...

All of you fiends at the party were great about keeping those of us who weren't there in the loop.

I will so be at the next one!

At 19:39 Blogger Siri said...

That seems to be where most of the action is any more...

At 20:33 Blogger DataGoddess said...

I'm here, I'm here! And home.

OMG, that was so much fun. And I loved how there was no weirdness, no feeling like I was with strangers, because I wasn't!

Or maybe that was the tequila shots ;-)

At 21:09 Blogger Erin Underwood said...

Oh, you guys played some of my favorite Irish songs! Johnny Jump Up! Brilliant.

Ohhhhh, lovely music!

At 21:30 Blogger AletaMay said...

Hurray for fiends home safely!

I am sleepy now.

Q hope the working is productive!

At 22:05 Blogger Jess said...

Hey, peeps. What's shakin'? So I heard everybody went on a trip to Minnesota, or something? What's up with that? And who's that guy with the long hair I keeps seeing in photos? He's hot.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that when a plane lands, it should go: rear wheels, front wheels. Not rear right, rear left, all three, fishtail wiggle. Wasn't my arrival flight bad enough? What did I ever do to Delta?

Hope you lots still there are having fun. Miss you guys. And thank you all: I can't tell you how much I needed to get out of my head and be with actual people. It's a big deal. I feel human again. You guys rock. :)

At 22:11 Blogger Marjorie said...

Siri, Jess, DG, glad you're all home safely. Jess, please tell me that's the coming her e plane you're talking about - they didn't do horrible things to you going home as well, did they?

At 22:23 Blogger Jess said...

Marjorie: I'm afraid so. It was fine up till then, though. But once again I find myself pleased to be alive.

At 22:29 Blogger Marjorie said...

Oh No. In that case, doubly glad tht you are now home & safe.

At 22:30 Blogger Jess said...

That could be a problem next time you need to visit England.....

At 23:05 Blogger Chantrelle said...

we're home. Tired, ben's asleep. must eat dinner and collapse for a while.

Awesome week and amazing weekend.

Thanks to all the fiends!

At 00:18 Blogger Fluffy said...

In Colorado catching up on the Interwebs and trying not to think of what's in my email box.

And Toni, it was NOT the tequila shots, because I felt it too and I was tragically sober all weekend. Even though I didn't get enough Fiend Facetime (could have used about three more days) I had a blast. You should have seen Revelle and Emily getting goofy in the hotel room. I do have pics, though, and they will go online!

I hope to post my photos tomorrow - don't know if it will be Facebook or Photobucket. I'll see where they upload the best.

Today it looked as if our good travel mojo was gone - we had no seat assignments on an oversold flight, and the next one didn't leave for 5 hours. Since we had to meet Dennis in Denver and then drive a few hours up in the mountains, the additional time would have put our arrival closer to midnight (which would be yuck.)

At the end, after all the groups were called for boarding, the gate agent posted our names and sadly informed me that he had had to bump us... to first class. So it was a total win. I credit the win to my irresistible 'curvy hair' which apparently fascinates certain drunks ("I love your hair. It's so curvy.") and the occasional gate agent.

You should have seen Hat Girl. "Yesssss!" (jumpy, jumpy, high five) She was seated in the last row in 1st class and squeaked in surprise soon after she sat down - there was a service dog lying under her. He apparently had a huge crush on her because he licked her feet off and on the whole way to Denver. He looked like the in-color version of Cabal, with the same sort of sweet and slightly sheepish expression on his face.

Arrgh. Got to go to bed. Why am I always saying that? I guess because I go with what works. See y'all tomorrow!

At 00:22 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Awww, you poor girls having to fly first class.

Curvy hair - that's brilliant.

Lucky R having a dog to accompany her in first class.

Oh, and Jill Thompson has some cute embroidered patches she's going to sell - here's the twitpic:

Morning Louisa, how are things on the Emerald Isle this fine day?

At 04:38 Blogger louisa said...

Evening Sally! Things are warm and cloudy, like it's trying to make up it's mind "will I bother to do the whole rain thing?"

How's tricks in your neck o' the woods?

At 04:42 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Stormy! I feel nice and warm and safe inside.

At 04:48 Blogger louisa said...

Stormy is good when you feel safe.

Just checking out Nat's pictures (hope you don't mind me linking, Nat?) gorgeous portraits and details of Stillwater but DO NOT LOOK at them if you are in a public place and turn to complete mush at pictures of illegally cute cats.

At 06:31 Blogger Phiala said...

More of the Fiends are heading out this morning, leaving only the last few...

Much fun, will miss you all! But of course plenty of internet contact.

(Oh, I need some more hours of sleep...)

At 07:53 Blogger spacedlaw said...

More pictures added to the Fiends pool on Flickr and a gazillion pictures of Magic too (on my account)...

At 08:50 Blogger Marjorie said...

poor Fluffy, eing forced to go 1st class...

At 09:27 Blogger Jess said...

I'll bet she had her tiara on! :)

Natalie, that woodpecker is a downy woodpecker. It doesn't look like a juvenile one to me, but don't quote me on that.

/birdchick

Good morning!

At 09:30 Blogger louisa said...

Good morning Jess, how's you today?

At 09:34 Blogger Jess said...

Hallo, Louisa! I am very well, thank you. Haven't been awake that long, so can't claim to be in the midst of excitement. Doing the tea thing, which isn't really helping. I miss coffee!

At 11:31 Blogger Jane said...

Jess, maybe we can talk about Barbie here :-)

DH has almost no hair, no fun styling his. He won't do anything I suggest, having said that, I think he looks fine as is.

Sad for Fluffy and her upgrade :-)

At 11:35 Blogger Fluffy said...

Nat's photos are, as usual, stunningly beautiful. And I'm not just saying that because she photographed my toes! I especially love the Fiend portraits and the kitty pictures. Is it my imagination or is Magic getting a bit zaftig in the tummy region? He looks alert as always but also happy.

Awake (sort of) in Colorado right now. Need caffeine. We have a very lovely condo and just need food and drink to make it perfect. Good thing Dennis has gone to the grocery store. I brought my own tea, so I can at least get some chemicals in my system before he gets back with my Lucky Charms and Cheerios. Then, more chemicals and sugar. Mmm.

At 11:36 Blogger Jess said...

The Barbie Fan Hordes are after me! Aieee!

Who needs Barbie when your hubby has a luxuriant head of hair, is the point.

He's going to send it to Locks of Love the next time he has it cut (which will be a while as he needs at least ten inches and still wants a ponytail). He's a good egg. :)

At 11:43 Blogger Arwenn said...

Jess - Pantene has a similar program only the wigs are for adult cancer patients and the hair only needs to be eight inches long.

http://www.beautifullengths.com

At 12:06 Blogger Jane said...

Grown-up version of Barbie.

I have a friend who is growing the 10 inches - she has a long way to go and is determined to get there.

Wonderful way to give...

Off to a memorial service for 45 yr old Clara - I met her when she was 7 and I was 19.

At 12:07 Blogger Jess said...

Hey, now that's a thought. Will have to look into that! Thanks. :)

At 12:13 Blogger DataGoddess said...

I don't have enough of a moment to search, but you might want to do some research into how Locks of Love actually works. Apparently they sell most of the hair they receive, rather than having it made into wigs.

Work is kicking my ass today, but I miss all you guys, even those who were hanging virtually with us over the weekend. It's amazing to me how wonderful all the Fiends are, each in their own way.

I wish we would have had more time to hang out Sunday, and that I didn't have to rush back to work today.

And, Fluffy, I'm seriously envious of the first class upgrade. Cool!!!

At 12:50 Blogger Erin Underwood said...

Yeah, you guys are back! I was lonely hanging out here. All right, so I wasn't really hanging and I'm usually kind of quiet lately anyway, but I do enjoy checking the Q-blog ... and it's been oh-so-quiet!

Sounds like you guys had fun fun fun. Any favorite moments? Any silliness? Do share!

At 12:50 Blogger Erin Underwood said...

Jess, it sounds like your plane was doing the Macarena or something!

At 12:54 Blogger Fluffy said...

Toni - I was amazed myself - I think it was 20 years ago when I last got a cool upgrade like that.

Had my LuckyCharmsCheerios and a big mug of tea. All is right with the world. I predict it will get lots more exciting when the in-laws get here. Where's my Vicodin?

At 13:01 Blogger Fluffy said...

Oh, yeah. I have no Vicodin. That's Dr. House I'm thinking of...

At 13:56 Blogger Fluffy said...

Just saw that the Minnesota Supreme Court declared Al Franken the new US senator. Took them awhile to sort that one out - the election was in November.

I killed the blog, didn't I?

At 14:14 Blogger Erin Underwood said...

LOL! No, Fluffy. It's just the lack of Vicodin in the light of the Al Franken announcement........ ;-)

At 14:30 Blogger Arwenn said...

We're supposed to get Vicodin now that Al Franken is senator? SWEET!!

At 15:11 Blogger Jess said...

Thank you, Minnesota! was beginning to wonder what was wrong with all of you. :P

Erin, you were missed!

Yes, I have A Story, and it's better than the Macarena Plane. They've all heard it. they're sick of it. Yo haven't, so they can hear it again:

So twenty minutes before the manwife and I are supposed to arrive in Minneapolis last Friday, the pilot comes on and says:

"Well, folks, we're about eighty miles outside of Minneapolis-St. Paul, and I just want to let you know that we're having a slight mechanical malfunction...I don't anticipate any problem with the landing at all, but just in case we've got emergency crews waiting on the ground for us, and they've just cleared us to land on the longer runway there at the airport. We'll be landing in just a few minutes; thanks for flying with us, and I hope you've enjoyed the rest of the flight."

Everybody goes dead silent. Manwife and I are just kind of staring at each other with that oh noes expression. The lady in the window seat next to us is white as a sheet. She turns to us, timid-like, and asks, "Is this your final destination"?

By this time I'm clawing manwfe's arm and burying my head in his shoulder. Cue fifteen minutes of breathless terror. At some point manwife prods me and says, "we haven't started heading for the lake or dumping fuel. I think we're fine." We notice that only one set of flaps on the wings are working. We surmise that that's what the long runway clearance is for. The stewardess walks up and down the aisle with a look that seems to say, oh, not this again. We begin to feel cautiously hopeful.

Smoothest touchdown I've ever experienced. Everyone claps. I'm thinking, Don't applaud yet! We haven't stopped! Long braking period. Screeeeee. And then we're fine. At which point the pilot pulls off to the side and says, "Okay, folks, now the emergency vehicle is just going to do a once-around to make sure everything looks normal, and then they're going to follow us back to the gate." At which point I start clinging to manwife's arm again, because I thought we were alive. I don't think we were on fire.

So eventualy they took us back to the gate and let us off. We never found out what actually happened. We still think wing flaps. In any case, it is good to be alive, and if that's the worst that ever happens to me on a plane, I'm well satisfied.

So, Erin, the Macarena Plane was the coda to that. That's the punchline.

Other than that, the weekend was great. This is a fun bunch to be with. I miss everybody. :)

At 15:22 Anonymous kali_licious said...

Fluffy that is the best kind of travel mojo! I wish I'd had some the other day when United ran me all over the airport.

Jill Thompson is making patches? Uh oh..

(psst, Siri, I don't twitter either;)

Sounds like next time will need to be a week-long Fiendom Come;)

Off to check out Nathalie's pix..

At 15:31 Blogger dabbler said...

Whew, Jess. You've had your airplane excitement and should be good to fly for years, now!

Siri, I, too, do not Tweet. I was forced to sign up briefly when DS was in Turkey, but then he never managed to get his phone to work! So I technically have an account, and for a day, DH and I sent silly messages back and forth. But I DO NOT TWEET.

Two years, huh.... I bet I can plan of being there for the encore.

At 15:32 Blogger dabbler said...

Or even on being there...

At 15:34 Blogger dabbler said...

Wait. What? in Nathalie's flicker shots there's a pic of Magic and Mim face-to-face. That's a story I want to hear.

At 17:20 Blogger Phiala said...

Home. Tired. (Now WHY could that be???)

Will sort out pictures and stories... just not right this second.

At 17:24 Blogger Chantrelle said...

I'm working on pictures now. Not sure how far I'll get before ben's drum lesson is over.

Many many things to get done today after 10 days of being away. The garden is a jungle!!

Miss you all already!!

At 18:23 Blogger AletaMay said...

Most of the fiends leave and it gets kinda cold here. Coincidence? I think not!

Tried to get somewhat caught up on work today, but my heart was not really in it. :shrugs: That's okay. It'll come back tomorrow -- my motivation that is.

At 18:24 Blogger AletaMay said...

On the other hand I think the energy generated by the presence of the fiends allowed the breakthrough on the MN Senate election. Hurray for finally having two senators!

At 19:27 Blogger Lioness said...

I just found the fiends 2-3 weeks ago so there was no way I'd be part of the party but I did make it online to see the first set of the first night. And it looked like so much fun. Oh, by the way, I was Toronto Can't stop the Serenity but I finally got around to reviving an old blog with something a little easier. And the fund raising is over for another year anyway.

At 19:57 Blogger Siri said...

Oh, yeah, in response to something Aleta said yesterday, I think Marjorie gets the prize for the most airport runs, and in addition, she's not from around here.

Marjorie - you rock.

At 20:02 Blogger Siri said...

OK, so it might have been on a different string that she said that, but still

Marjorie Rocks.

At 21:20 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Still loading pictures.

At 21:45 Blogger Marjorie said...

Jess, can I sugges t that next time you fly, you take Fluffy and/or Revelle with you? I think they have the plane karma you need.

Siri - thanks (blushes) you also rock, especially with the early meet and greet.

I just got back to the hotel having spent the day wth El and OSS and Ticia, and some of it with Bordchick too (we went to the Raptor Center, and you will be pelased to hear that when Sharon saw us and called "Fiends!!" we all automtically responded...

I am currently feeling very proud of myself for having found my way back to the hotel all by myself, and with only one minor getting lost-ish.

At 21:47 Blogger Jess said...

I have pictures. Not as many good ones as I thought, though. And oddly devoid of people. But there they are!

At 22:20 Blogger Jess said...

Yeah, I need me. some of that First Class Action.

How was the Raptor Center?

At 22:27 Blogger Marjorie said...
