My Day WIth The Jonas Brothers...

Taking a few minutes while the shoot is going on in the next room to post some pics from last night's Jonas Brothers Event....

The first thing you need to know was that it was a really, really fun concert. I loved it and had a great time. They're really good and put on a truly impressive show. And they're great guys, really nice, who take the time for their fans. And, I think, truly understand how much they mean to their fans.

They have the most elaborate rigs I have ever seen, (Show takes 42 trucks and 170 people, I think I recall Kitty saying)it's done as theater in the round, with a main revolving stage, and two satellite stages connected by walkways. And RAIN comes down on one of them, during one song, and spells out words. (Ok, sure, I use one of those with Paul and Lorraine)

GREAT backup band too. Two violins, full horn, keys, bass, I think. Joined by Jordin Sparks, who can SING. (And looked like a REAL women with curves, NOT fat, just normal, which a very cool thing for all those young girls too get to see.)

Here's my Posse hanging on Kitty's Tour Bus, with our Kitty there in the background. She arranged for everything from the tickets, to the Sound Check Party Wristband, and Meet and Greet Wristbands, my Pass, some signed Tour Books for the girls, and sent us home with more Back Stage Food than you can believe.

She also put me to work, which I minded not at all. Too cool seeing the workings and logistics of a huge stage show, like this one. I may be a tour manager in my next life. (hey, if I can herd cats, I can run a tour.)

The Girls had, and I quote: "The best day of our lives ever!" and I have to tell you being group hugged by four teenagers who have just seen their idols, is NOT an over rated experience.

Here they are waiting to meet the Boys, with Back Stage Water. WAY cooler than just water water. Sadly, the girls couldn't come back, except for the Meet, as policy says No Teens. Which, is understandably, probably a very good idea. Security would be far more difficult.

They were slightly indignant that I had got to see a Jonas Bro (no idea which one) playing ball, and had said hello. (told them it didn't count as I hadn't KNOWN he was a Jonas Bro) and had provided cranberry juice for another.

(Them: WHAT DID HE SAY??? Me: Uh, "Do you have any cranberry juice back here?" AND THEN WHAT???, uh, Thankyou?)

I wished so they could have been there too, and tried to soak it in for them. I can't describe how fun it was getting to see everything from four pairs of young eyes, who were being in this place for the first time, if you see what I mean. They had so much fun, and I loved every minute of it.

Here's some dancing on the Blue Screen, (run by the posse's new best friend Owen) and apparently, we will be getting some vid of this, which ought to be fun.

They got a bit cheated in the food department, the way things worked out, tho of course we smuggled them some strawberries, chocolate and brownies, but they were starving on the way home.

But fortunately, we had PLENTY of Back Stage Food to nosh on. Bagels, cream cheese and little steaks, courtesy of the Jonas Brothers.

Perfect.

(Thanks, Maddy. You rock my world!!!!!!!! xxxYour Quiche)

Love and Teen Concerts,
Lorraine

Fun, at least vicariously. Not sure I would enjoy it so much in person. :)

The man who types up my stories was wondering why there was so much traffic coming into Minneapolis last night! Explains a lot.

Sounds like one of those experiences of a young lifetime! How wonderful it is that you can share these things with Maddy and friends! :D

Sounds awesome good fun! I took my favourite fifteen-year-old to his first concert a few weeks ago in Sydney (P!nk). It was a big fun roadtrip and when we stood there in front of the stage it was like I was fifteen again, too, just buzzing off his excitement.

At 14:28 Blogger AletaMay said...

So good to be around the young ones. Looks like a grand time.

The joy on the girls' faces says it all - what a fun time!

At 17:07 Blogger Rubius said...

I am glad you all had such a fantastic time. It is lovely to watch something like that through new eyes. It is a whole new thing.

btw, Phiala, I love your avatar.

I was just going to say - Phi - cool pic.

Was that at Joe's?

Home!

And very tired. Yesterday was a bit long, and today was a bit long. Cool tho. Liked having the filmming people out, they were lovely and a lot of fun.

Lots tomorrow, as Boss goes to get an award or something at ALA, I forget what.

Heh.

Lovely pic Mistress!

And Chosha, I love Pink, wish I could catch a current show.

And Adri is back! Funny, I have so been thinking about you my corset friend!

Mim and Magic are having porch time. Venus is having ME time, and The Royals are knocking down their cattree, judging by the crashes.

Unbelievably happy for Maddy and the gang. Such a fantastic opportunity for them. As Dragonsally said, the joy in their faces says it all. I'm smiling so much just by osmosis.

At 19:41 Blogger Jess said...

Yay! \o/

You guys should totally have a rain thing. And dry ice, and fireworks. At Charlie's. You're bonded and insured, right?

At 19:41 Blogger Phiala said...

Fluffy (I think) took that, Friday lunch at the place across the street. I stole the bit with me in it completely without permission.

I look like a movie star or something! *grin*

Just got back from the annual street fair, where we looked at much interesting art (and some not-so-interesting), and ate much completely non-nutritious fair food.

That is squee-ful win!

What was the concert like? Lots and lots of squealing girls or could the music be heard? I've loved seeing all the pictures. Such happiness makes me smile.

Loved seeing all the pictures. Such happiness!

At 19:59 Blogger Cecily said...

You make a concert that I have no desire to see very enjoyable. I'm glad you guys got the experience. And you got to see your Kitty. ;-)

At 19:59 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

DID give me a lot of ideas on the way we need to go at Charlie's.

Lots of screaming, but you could hear the music, and the sound was great.

The girls were still SO happy this morning.

And we all at Jonas Bros food today. And will tomorrow. Hans ate an entire pod of steak. This made him happy.

At 20:01 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

WOuld I have gone on my own, no Mads and CO, no Kitty? Well, no. But I am sure glad I did and I had so much fun.

Interesting perspective on doing and liking things you might not think you might like...

At 20:06 Blogger Jess said...

Pod steak? That sounds like the future.

At 20:09 Blogger Phiala said...

Well Jess, it's gonna be the future soon, you know.

At 20:14 Blogger Jess said...

So the Monoliths will appear? Because they were supposed to turn up on the moon eight years ago.

At 20:20 Blogger Phiala said...

I was thinking robot wars, but monoliths would be even better.

At 20:26 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I don't know the name for "Little plastic container with lid" that isn't Gladware. It's like a To Go Pod.

And it had steak. You know, Pod Steak.

I gots more. Believe it. Tasty stuff.

Joe's Malt Shop - across the stree on Friday. I have a similar shot. Some day, I'll figure out how to get them off the camera into the computer.

At 20:31 Blogger Phiala said...

I thought it was Leo's. Whatever.

I'm going to go see if I can take pictures of fireflies.

At 20:33 Blogger Siri said...

Hmmm - mayhap you are right - it will always be Joe's in my head.

Oh, and Marjorie, so glad you are home safely, and glad you slept.

I was at the store today, and saw the Birdchick in one aisle, and Marjorie in another. I believe I'm missing fiends.

At 20:40 Blogger Ticia said...

Such excitement everywhere.

I'm glad you and the girls had fun at the concert, Quiche.

I'm with everyone else, Phiala. I love your new avatar. You look badass and mysterious.

I get so tongue-tied here lately. I don't know why. I'm certainly talking plenty on twitter and facebook.

Anyway, I love you all and I hope the upcoming weekend gives you what you want or what you need.

At 20:42 Blogger Phiala said...

Nope, no pictures of fireflies. My mostly-automatic camera claims it is too dark out for it to even bother taking a picture.

They're very pretty, but you'll just have to take my word for it.

G'night all, I'm off to read George MacDonald fairy tales.

At 20:52 Blogger Lioness said...

I'm glad to hear that you were able to hear. The Jonas Bros might not be my kind of music but unless you are 15,, just hearing screaming gets old quickly.;) And what a marvelous way to experience something new.

At 21:09 Blogger Fluffy said...

Mine isn't a JoBros fan, which made life easier for me when they played Dallas. I DID make a piece of Flair of Billie Jo Armstrong (with goatee) at a Miley Cyrus/Jonas Bros concert last year - the person who posted the picture said he was with his wife and son and was jumping up and down with everyone else and obviously had a great time. Then he posed with fans between acts.

Love the pictures. It looks like everyone had a blast!

At 21:16 Blogger Fluffy said...

And, yes, the sexy new Phiala pic was from me - you can see the whole thing in my Fiendom Come album on FB.

That WAS a very good lunch. No pod steak, but a really good roast beef on whole wheat with a stellar fruit salad on the side.

At 21:55 Blogger Beez said...

mmmmmmm.....pod steak. Can our jet packs and flying cars be far behind?

SOunds like a great night for happy teenagers on into today.

Try to get some rest- I know what it's like to keep up with a herd that age.

(Hw! You getting rest. Who am I kidding?)

At 22:03 Blogger vampi said...

well since we are all chating about fab food, i just had some cafe bravo kebab. yum. I keep forgetting to tell kitty it's in her neighboorhood now and should try it when she is done tour with jobros.

you know, i have gone to many concerts, working in the concert biz, and usually have some preconceived notion about the band. something about live music transforms the artist. so much that even listening to cd's of artists i have seen live now have that energy to me. it is magical. best example, i took my friend to a lyle lovett concert. now i am definitely not a country type of person, and never even thought about listening to him before. just so happened he played one of my clients, and the box office manager loved me and hooked us up. bar none best concert i have ever seen. now when i heave lyle lovett is touring, i ant to go see him because i know he's amazing live.(no disrespect to quiche, that was the awesomest gig i have ever been at, 2 totally different experiences, i'm still buzzing about it to boy)

i'll go be quiet now...

At 22:19 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I think there is something in the fact that possibly your last best concert was the best ever.

Not ever sure it MATTERS what the music is, there is just such this great wonderful energy about live music,a nd the connection between artist and audience, they send it out, it comes back, until it is pretty simply the best thing that ever there was.

Doesn't matter who, or what size venue. If it is happeneing, it is magic.

At 22:21 Blogger Ticia said...

I think you're right Quiche.

At 23:16 Blogger Na said...

I agree, too, and add that you can't always (ever? usually?) predict when that magic artist-performer combination will happen. I played in a steel drum orchestra for some years. Still one of the most memorable experiences of my life was a performance we did with another steel drum orchestra, in a small college town in northern California, filling a school gym with that wall of sound and happy pan players and locals and college kids. Pure magic. Ineffable. The energy going back and forth felt tangible. And with all the same people, we performed at a percussion "convention"/concert, all these amazing-and-some-well-known performers gathered together to perform for each other, and it was almost complete disconnect.

No doubt last night was a blast for Q and Mads & Co. and Kitty. The pictures tell all. :)

Just a quick skim of comments and a ticky box from me tonight. Have two houseguests now. One needs to study again tonight. Then the party, er conference, tomorrow. Seriously though, there are many deadly dull hours to get through each day. Might be sharing some of them on twitter tomorrow. I think I might have back-channel duty for the Unconference. You have been warned.

At 23:22 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Sounds like a great time was had by all. Glad you had so much fun!

At 23:36 Blogger ariandalen said...

Glad you had such a good time at the Jonas Brothers concert, Ms. Fabulous! From reading the previous posts, it seems to me that you needed the change of scenery, so to speak. Hope the spider bites are healing. I know that you will make the best decision for yourself and the Royals. {{{Ms. Fabulous}}}

I'm back home. Not completely unpacked, but 95% unpacked. I just need to decide how to use my skull. ;) I won't be reading all the comments on the previous posts, so I'll just say "HI!" to all the new Fiends, and let you know that if you just look around, you'll find a nice white jacket with lots of buckles and things to personalize your jacket. :)

Congratulations on your paper getting accepted for publication, Phiala!

Just for you, Siri...

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

a so glad to see you. bedtime!

At 03:46 Blogger Marjorie said...

Pod-steak. Could it have been in Tupperware? But I prefer the idea of monoliths, jet packs and robot wars, myself.

Must go out and seek food, soon. Not lest because we will run out of cat food if I don't go shopping, and that never ends well.

At 07:26 Blogger Hellie said...

Aw cute pics, looks like fun was had by all! I was about 14 when I went to my first gig - my tastes have changed a bit since then, but it's true, the magic of experiencing live music hasn't changed - still get the buzz, it's the best natural high!

I thought tuppaware too, but they really are pods aren't they, perfect word! I have Pod Caramel Pecan Shortbread - made for my bf's birthday. We have a giant pod-full, I'll share it with you all if I can figure out how to upload it!

At 08:22 Blogger Phiala said...

Hellie, that sounds like just the thing to go with my coffee. Do you suppose you'll have it figured out by the time I actually make said coffee??

At 08:36 Blogger Hellie said...

Hmmm I'll do my best Phiala! Tried mushing it into the USB port, no results there....

At 08:53 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Tupperware! THAT was it, I remember Tupperware, my Mom used to go to parties.

I like Pods tho.

Need tea and shower. (Yes, shower AGAIN. It's HOT here.)

At 09:04 Blogger Hellie said...

It was like that here last week, needed a shower as soon as you got out of the shower! Today I am shivering in my office, even though sun appears to be shining outside!

Niiiice and cool in the Black Hills right now. A thunder storm rolled through and kissed the Hills with coolness during the night. It's lovely out right now. *whew*

Mostly I am catching up on work, and my brain seems likely to ooze out through my ears. Shambling might also soon commence.

At 12:44 Blogger Adri said...

Good morning fabulous fiends! Or, afternoon, as the case may be. (I'm on Californiatime now so it's perfectly reasonable morning... time... ish)

Pod steak... so where's my jetpack, eh?

Or, for our purposes, I'm betting we'd all prefer teleportation. I know I would.

At 12:52 Blogger Jess said...

Or a tardis.

At 13:11 Blogger Na said...

I'm for a Tardis, too. I mean, how will teleportation work? Like the transporters on Star Trek? I'm with all the characters over the years who were disinclined to having their bodies' atmoic structure scrambled and reassembled... One must be practical about these things.

At 13:19 Blogger Marjorie said...

Yes,me too, but then the TARDIS tends to be a little unreliable and to end up in dangerous situations (although at least the Doctor is generally there to get one out of them once again)

At 13:31 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Finally, the interwebs are acknowledging me. Well, some of them anyway. Today's Unconference is in a basement, so no phone signal. And wireless has been come and go. Mostly go. Twitter is a complete wash. I miss my fiends! Who knows if this message will get though. It's like throwing a bottle in the sea.

At 13:32 Blogger Na said...

True, but folks are always beaming out of or into danger. More pros: TARDIS is much roomier than any shuttle craft. It's usually safe inside the TARDIS, and you usually have company. I imagine the dissociated-atoms stage of transporting would be lonely and isolating, assuming some self-awareness remains intact during transfer.

Right. Completed and emailed editing assignment. Body is screaming for me to stand up and go DO something as far away from my computer as possible. Cheers, mates.

At 13:35 Blogger spacedlaw said...

OSS, you sound like a victim of a totalitarist government! What have you done to the internet to have it treat you so badly?

At 15:36 Blogger Ani said...

Fluffy! I have been trying to reach your FB page to look at Fiendom Come pix for a week now. Help? What do I need to do?

At 15:39 Blogger Ani said...

I'm pretty sure that the Fiends managed a lot of Squee-ing at Charlie's. And there was definitely a light show, and um...go-go boys? so you're already on your way, Q!

At 16:44 Blogger vampi said...

lol the go-go boys were hysterical. i can't believe they weren't fiends.

At 17:33 Blogger gaypet said...

Ani, try this.

At 19:19 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Still at work, but I do have Things to say on a new post, should I get back home....

And pics of my Really Cool New Couch/bench thing I had made for the Scream Porch.

At 20:07 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

New Post is UP!

Tho I am not yet home. One can chaperon and blog tho...

At 20:24 Blogger Dragonsally said...

I'd prefer the Tardis too, especially if david Tennant was driving it. I remember too many episodes where those matter transporters went awry.

At 21:53 Blogger Ani said...

Thanks, Gaypet. The trouble is that I have an account, and have unsuccessfully found & accessed Fluffy's page. I am...bamboozled? Cause I KNOW she loves me & would let me see the pix. Perhaps it's poor channels of communication? Or my FB naivete? Maybe if I try a Fiend request instead of a Friend request?
