New Hair, But More Importantly....

Before I even get into how it might not be the BEST idea to try taking pictures of your new hair yourself (the stuff is too long to FIT to start with or my arms are too short, either way) I need to talk about something really important.

My friend Marilyn Kreiger, The Cat Coach, cat behavior expert, writer for Cat Fancy magazine and head of California Bengal Rescue, has a huge rescue going on. A breeder has had to surrender 35 Bengals. They need you. They need spay, neuter, foster homes and forever homes. Here's one:

These are not damaged Bengals, but come from a place where they were very loved, and it is breaking this breeders heart she has to surrender them.

Marilyn has a Blog up about them, with all the information, and Pictures. WARNING: These are seriously cute kitties. I want at least 6 of them. I can't take any more. Here's another. She needs you.

Can you help? Can you give the a fiver like you did for Hope? Can you foster? Have you ever wanted a Bengal? Would you like one? Or better yet, two?

They really need you. They need homes. Tweet this site. Talk to every cat lover you know. 35 Bengals, need vet, and homes, even temporary homes. These kitties are going to be the love of someone's life.

Might be yours.

You might help them find the ones they are looking for.

You will not regret this.

I promise you.

There. I have no doubt help is on the way. Fiends are like that. And I love you for it.

So, here's some hair. A lot of hair. It's way too much hair, way too long hair, whole lot of purple hair, and I couldn't be happier. I really do feel like me again. Didn't like that short hair with bangs look. Not sure who that was, but not me.

I am going out with friends for the day tomorrow. I know, weird, eh? I will ask someone ELSE to take some shots of me. If you are going out to MN Renn Fest tomorrow, check the Mead booth at 2:30 and you may well see a purple haired non-costumed Guest Violin player. Just saying.

I don't have much more to report on the Great Bathroom Destruction. Apparently there is some weird taping process that goes on with new walls that takes three days. Head Destroyer is looking for green marble tiles for around the bathtub for me. We only need a few you see, and every $$ is counting on this project.

AFP's Super Cool Assistant is sending me the first Skeleton for my Skelly Bathtub/Dinner Party. I need three more to make this Diorama complete, if anyone is cleaning out closets and has an extra. Does not HAVE to be human.

(And no, I am neither accepting ones that have been recently dug up, nor am I doing it myself.)

I will have this dinner party, tho.

Love, Bengals, Hair and Ghostly Dinner Parties,
Lorraine

The hair looks great Lorraine, and I can see you feel more at ease with it.
I will duly go and twitter and post the blog. Wish I could have a kitty or four.

Hair rocks!

Wish we could take some bengals :-(

At 19:07 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Ha, it looks AWESOME.

And thirty-five Bengals? Wow. I have my fingers crossed for all of them.

At 19:14 Blogger ariandalen said...

Glad you're happy with the longer hair, Ms. Fabulous.
Those are seriously cute kittens, but we're at maximum capacity here. Our cat population doubled a couple of months ago as Dragon brought a calico home back in May. We now have four, two month old kittens: a ginger tabby, a ginger and white, a white and ginger, and a calico. So, it's feral cat catching time here in Central Texas.

Nice hair!

I was thinking anew of dying mine white.

Dan, any decision about Japan? I may have missed a memo

At 20:16 Blogger Dan Guy said...

Oh, I know I want to go; I'm just waiting for the wheels of government to finish working through the red tape and decide if they want me.

I received the kids' passports in the mail today, and cleaned the garage out the weekend before last, so we're nearly ready to go.

At 20:23 Blogger mistressmousey said...

I love Twitter. One of the 35 Bengals has a new foster mommy thanks to some retweetage.

Also, the hair looks, well, appropriately fabulous. :D

Dan, I'm thoroughly jealous if you get to go. :)

At 21:08 Blogger Siri said...

Good on you Dan. Gov'ment does eventually move

At 21:11 Blogger Erin Underwood said...

I'm suffering from hair envy. I love it! I'm so glad you went back to the long hair. It's awesome!!!!

Oh. My. Gawd. Look at those kittens! They're amazingly cute and beautiful all at once. Oh, I hope they find good homes.

Btw, if you guys want to read some great FREE fiction over the next several weeks, check out the Interfictions 2 Annex.

At 21:40 Blogger EmilyLady said...

I've never done anything with my hair; my friends warn me that once you start messing with it (especially with color), you can't stop.

White hair, Dan? (thinks) There is something cool about that. Maybe not as cool as purple, but ...

At 21:45 Blogger vampi said...

lovely hair!!!!!!

:( 35 kitties. that's alot!
fingers crossed for homes quickly.

At 21:54 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Thanks FIends! Wait till you REALLY see it. Miss Kitty will be here in about 2 weeks, and THEN we will get some shots, promise. Good ones where it isn't a mess from riding.

Mistress Mousie, that's great news! Twitter rocks for this sort of thing. 34 to go.

At 22:00 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Ah, just remembered how very very Friday it is.

At 22:03 Anonymous Kate said...

Hair. Is. Fabulous.

When you go to the Ren Faire you MUST stop and say hello to my friends Billy Billy von Billy and Haaack Ptui, two of the Sturdy Beggars who ply their trade of debauched buffoonery at the Mud Show. Known these boys since college (late 70s) - heck, I even dated one or two. Know that they are funny men worth spending a half an hour with. Go forth! Laugh much!

Also thinking settled thoughts for the kitties.

At 22:07 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Thanks Kate...

I just gave my post a title. Could have done that hours ago. I wish you could see my hair better, but I just can't TAKE a picture of it.

There will be some tho.

Where is everyone? Do they hate my hair? Envy it? Anyone who doesn't comment hates my hair. I know it.

At 22:08 Blogger Dragonsally said...

*waves to Lorraine* I'm popping in and out between turning pancakes!

At 22:10 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Ok, I'm keeping a list. Sally likes my hair.

At 22:31 Blogger Jess said...

I do not hate your hair! I just had to wash mine.

(No, really, I did. It's clean now.)

Yours looks great!

I can explain drywall tape: it's a plastic or (I think) fiberglass mesh, see, and you stick it over the join between each drywall sheet so that the goop you spread over it doesn't crack, and you end up with a smooth surface. It takes several coats, and a while to dry. Thus the three days. (This sort of thing is always going on at my house. That's why I can talk at excruciating length about it. Next on Jess's Old House: how to grout.)

Tomorrow we go to the Rock and Roll Hall-o-Fame. Yes, that one. Mr. Jess wants to impersonate Ely Cathedral as seen on the cover of Pink Floyd's The Division Bell. The head sculpture's there, apparently. Photos to follow, barring a ban on cameras in the museum.

At 22:38 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Envy. Definitely envy.

Plus I was away from the internets doing laundry.

Yep, much envy.

At 22:43 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Okay, I've managed to cook the pancakes and use two pans and melt a flipper. Eventful!

At 22:50 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Well thanks Jess, that clears up a lot of nagging questions.

I love having all this hair. I brushed it out about 8 times today. I have never ever HAD this much hair. Always kind of wanted it tho.

Next time I am going for the same thing, only with real hair. Pricy, but it's going to be a wild winter I am thinking.

At 22:57 Blogger Dragonsally said...

So, what are the extensions made from this time Lorraine?

I retweeted the bengal plea, hope it helps.

I spent the day in ben's kinder class and then came home to Empire Strikes Back movie night, pizza and wine. ahhhh. Wonderful after 20 three-five yr olds. I could NEVER be a teacher!

Wish I could take on a Bengal or two. But alas, wrong country. Also wrong environment. Two huskies and a Bengal would not a happy home make.

Love the hair.

At 02:33 Blogger Marjorie said...

The hair is gorgeous. I was sleeping, what with being in a different timezone and all, when you blogged it. But I got up early (on a Saturday) to see it :-) Feel the Fiendish love!

I can't use paypal just now because someone cloned my credit card and so I can't pay for anything 'til the new one arrives, but will send what I can to the bengals once it does.

Off to Bath Kids Lit. festival this morning today. What's eveyone else doing with their weekend?

At 04:05 Blogger louisa said...

Purple hair!!! Like Marj, I'm holding the time zones entirely responsible for late commenting. Also the sleeping, and possibly the bottle of wine. Introduced photographer housemate to the pics of Mr Kyle last night, a good way to spend a Friday evening m'thinks. What am I doing for the weekend? Well first on the list is a cat-related post, a moggie-bloggie!

At 06:22 Blogger EmilyLady said...

For the record, I think the hair is awesome and wonder if I could ever possibly pull of purple hair and I'm thinking the answer is no.

At 07:48 Blogger Jane said...

I love the hair, and especially love that YOU love the hair. Loving your own hair, priceless!

Would you mind repeating the address where we can mail our fivers for the Bengal rescue?

16 yr old Calvin would NOT be happy with a new Bengal in the house (and the house is too small to have separate rooms) so the fivers will have to be my support.

At 08:01 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I can take the fivers for the 25 Bengals at:

Morning all!

I have caffinated tea! My joy knows no bounds! I am just going to sit here and bask in my caffine for the first time in two days.

At 09:07 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Cabal and I are off to Renn Fest. Ought to be interesting. And fun. I'm sitting in with Bedlam, no doubt, it will be fun to play with them again, bad boys that they are.

My pony tails are longer than my hair down has ever been. And I have rhinestone earrings. Both of these things make me happy.

At 09:38 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Lorraine's comment gave me an emoticon moment: :D

At 09:39 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Hey guys, I went to a garage sale and Ben and I came back wearing cowboy hats. Whoo!

At 10:25 Blogger Phiala said...

Good: caffeinated tea, scones, long purple hair, taking care of Bengals who need it.

Bad: Bengals who need tending, Nick's horrible cold, that I'm indoors working on such a lovely day. It's showing the first hints of autumn.

Nick's sick, so I slept in the guest bedroom last night. Grendel was fine with that, and slept on my feet (I retrieved him from the farm last night). Morgan thought this was inappropriate, and spent most of the night howling in the hallway. I'd call him, he'd come in, jump on the bed for purrings and scritches, then jump down, retreat into the hall, sit where he could see me, and start crying again.

Sleeping on the couch: good. Sleeping in the guest room: bad.

Damned cat.

Wish it could have been more.
Wish they were closer to the east Coast. So gorgeous. Especially that amazing silver/black marbled one. And the sweet one with the green eyes, and...

Like your Hair a lot, Lorraine. Just wasn't here to tell you last night.

Spent last evening at a party in So.Philly...the hostess has spent the summer being assaulted by her neighbor's stoop sitting musical choices: Rap, metal, bad bongo playing, etc. So last night we took large speakers and an amp and assaulted them back with Balkan music, bits of 'Fiddler On the Roof' (for Rosh Hashana) and assorted other music. A fine time was had by all, including the neighbors! Much dancing, eating and general silliness.

Today we go with friends to the PA Sustainable Energy conference, where for our 12.00 we also get Paul Winter, and Japanese Taiko drummers. Woot!

And tomorrow is the quilt show at the Expo center. Man...what a weekend.

Love to all Fiends! And , Fablo, did I mention I love your hair?

At 11:52 Blogger Unknown said...

I love your hair!

I was out all evening and I'll be out all weekend, but I wanted to check in and say "Hi!".

Those Bengals are gorgeous! I wish I could take one in, but money is all I can do. And I'm happy to do it.

Chantrelle,(from days ago), I'm glad your friend got some positive news. She and her family are in my thoughts.

Dan - I hope Japan works out for you and your family.

I'm sure there are many other things I'm supposed to be commenting on, but I have killed all my brain cells from lack of sleep.

Have a great weekend Fiends!

Beautiful hair, which I love and seriously seriously envy.

Beautiful Bengals, which I can help $$-wise. I hope all goes well with the rescue.

You had a perfect day for the RenFest. Perfect weather. Spawn is taking his Very Best Friend tomorrow, but Mom-I am providing transport. Hopefully I'll get a chance to actually go this year.

I missed most of the beautiful day outside because the new stadium at the U. is eating those of us at University Food Service alive.

Chefs got in @ 2:00 a.m., the rest uf us were in @ 5:00 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff. Home by 3- nap nap naaaaaap.

What a lovely day! Arwenn and SlightlyBent helped me see out the old decade and see in the new. There will be four of them behind me as of Tuesday. If today is any indication, I'm going to like 40 just fine.

The pirate exhibit at the Field Museum was very interesting . We got some fun pics there too. But you'll have to wait till tomorrow for those. Then a pleasant coze sitting on the lakeshore. Finally a great dinner at my favorite Ethiopian restaurant. Oh, some stash enhancement might have happened in between. Well, the yarn shop was right there. What were we supposed to do, ignore it?

Pics tomorrow!

Thank you Lorraine!!!

I love your hair Lorraine! hey, thank you so much for blogging about the rescue and for directly linking people to it.

Nothing has changed since Friday. On Monday or Tuesday I will make appointments for the speutering. Probably the first batch will be done the week of October 12.

Hopefully this weekend I'll have pictures of more of the cats that I can post.

I love the support and the donations are so helpful and wonderful.

An FYI to everyone, comments can only be left on my blog if you're registered. I apologize for that, had to do that because I was getting hundreds of posts for viagra and other such unwanted sex aids and spam, etc. My finger was getting tired of deleting...

Talking about my blog... my next entry will be about how to properly introduce cats to each other

At 00:03 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I'm totally not sending this link to my friend...she just paid a LOT for a Bengal kitten. Apparently they love water (like will come into the shower with you) which is unusual obviously for cats. Bit hard for me to claim one from Australia, but I hope they all find good homes.
