All I Have To Say....

I am very tired, and don't exactly feel great yet. In fact, I feel lousy. Not a fun cold, and it wears you down. I could be asleep now. I might well be. But I did want to do a new post for you Fiendish Lot. Lots of mysterious dissapearing Fiends, I am thinking you simply got tired of the Cat Pee and want something far more interesting.

Too bad. Don't have it in me tonight.

Speaking of Pee tho, Magic peed his plastic today, but that was three pee-free days. Woot.

I got home to the Spooky House tonight, as I mentioned, really tired. Looking forward to tea, book, couch and some serious ELLEN, SUV, ER action. But first, five screaming Bengals. You'd think they had not been fed in days, screams that grow ever more frantic as each second slips by.

Before I can start the Supper Dance, I noticed Venus had managed to somehow, get a small paper gift bag, the kind with handles, around herself. She'd shredded the BAG and was simply wearing a handle, over her head, around her middle, thru one of her legs. Fashion? No idea, she acted cool about it, like "Everyone will SO be doing this once I hit You Tube."

Four Tins of cat food and three steaks later: Blessed silence. Now, I suspect, Playtime will commence.

I did get a new Blackberry, which didn't manage to import all my phone numbers from the old (Despite Boss trying for three hours yesterday, sadly) but I am learning things on it, and love it.

I think Camera perhaps got jealous of Blackberry, and has de-camped. At any rate, I can't seem to find it. But I can take a photo with my phone and e-mail it to myself. (pretty cool sentence, eh?)

Hence the picture of Skelly in the Bathtub.

Love and Skellies,
Lorraine

Love the Skelly - family here - lots happening - no time to share with Fiends - tomorrow, I will.

Hugs and whatnot.

Skelly looks wonderful, but why didn't you take a photo of the next feline fashion trend, huh?

We are not tired of cat pee as much as we know YOU are. Much empathy as all of us have had a peeing cat at some time in our lives. Better than the peeing pooping 17 yr old canine who dumped in my office (just 'cuz) so you get an Amen! from mt corner.

Up to my ears in tulle and taffeta for the spooky zombie costumes for this weekend's circus showcase (one daughter performing) so back to the machine and the ironing board.

By the way - love the skelly.

glad the new camera's working, and what Dragonsally said! :)

I did take a Venus Pic, but it was too dark, and I didn't want to LEAVE it there.

Lady Gaga canceled her Fame Kills tour. I called that one, didn't surprise me it's not happening. Bet she goes out solo instead, after a bit. Hope so.

ah! at twitter I thought (for a second) your camera had been stolen...hard to keep track of almost 100 twits after the working day... (unfortunately teachers can't use phones or computers during class)...
I love new gadgets! enjoy yours \o/

Skelly looks really relaxed in the there!

hope you recover completely soon! how's boss?

At 20:53 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Hi littlefluffy cat. The camera is lost. It's the phone that is working and taking pictures. Sort of anyway.

At 20:57 Blogger Chantrelle said...

Still in bathroom planning mode. This shower bar or that one? The door on the left or right? Fun but taxing (would be more fun if it weren't for the cost behind it all!)

Making Pasta Bolognese tonight. It got cold this week so i bought the ingredients. Then today it was 80. Bugger it all, we're having the heavy meal anyway!

Hope you feel better soon Q!! Blah. Glad you don't have to deal w/ cat pee while you feel crappy!

At 20:57 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I said on Twitter that someone broke in and stole only that from my house, but I was trying to be funny. I just lost the thing. In my house. Which is really tidy.

Turned on my fireplace tonight. Nice couch. Venus is curled beside me. Mim is chewing on the router....

I am happy! And I was just at Kitty's blog leaving strange typos all over the place.

A week of Miss Kitty! THEN we'll have something to blog about, and it won't matter if I do find my camera. She takes the best pics!

I've just been quiet because I was off work with a migraine yesterday. It wasn't all the pee talk - honest!

Mind you I might go a bit quiet again because I have a few days off and I only have internet access at work.

Hope you feel better soon Ms Q. And I LOVE the skelly pic. (If you do end up with a Zen garden-type room for Magic as someone suggested, you could lodge a skelly in there too. Sort of looking for the oasis but missed?)

Screaming Bengals and a Skelly in the bathtub. Excellent way to begin the month-long celebration of Halloween.

Do Bengals like pumpkins?

At 22:17 Blogger Jess said...

Feel better soon, Q!

I have learned a fun bag game for cats: You take a small paper bag-- the sort you'd put your lunch in-- and hide a couple of toys inside. Feathery things are good, or things that go squeak. Cats love digging the things out of the bag, and then flinging said things around the room. Guaranteed minutes of amusement before they shred the bag, or get hungry again.

Got another workshop going, and am in the usual panic mode, so it's all about laying very low for me. First session went well, though: all workshoppers involved are very nice and eager to learn, and there's no Dreadful Harridan trying to take over, like last time. Hurrah that!

At 22:31 Blogger Na said...

Take care! Hope you're feeling better soon. Love the skelly in the tub.

I have been wrangling with a manuscript all day. I was supposed to be doing the light copyedit on this one, but have had to do a LOT more. And just a few minutes ago discovered, completely by chance, that the author has plagiarized, at least in one spot. That I know of. Holy cow.

At 22:45 Blogger ariandalen said...

Feel better soon, Ms. Fabulous!

Been quiet due to contemplation of opening wormholes.

Jess...maybe I know too many songs...

D-A-N spells Harridan!
Proud of all the bile that spews out of her!
Divil the woman as she speaks at workshops!

H-A-double R-I-
D-A-N you see
Is a dame that a blame
Never will be connected with,
Harridan, that's her!
(Ban her she's Dreadful!)
Harridan, that's her!

I had to read the bit about Venus's new fashion line out to my partner. We were both giggling enough to confuse our own cats. Oh bengals; so good at inviting their own games. Zanzibar is currently trying to open a cardboard box.

Hope you feel better soon, Q.

(Y'all might have seen it on twitter, but I have to post here, too; said partner took me on a surprise trip to one of the nicest restaurants in the country last night, Michael Mina, and thus must be bragged about in all forms of social media. He doesn't even like food that much, so he arranged to have my friendwife come, too, so I'd have someone to appreciate it with.)

I feel a lot better than I did two days ago. I even managed to not get tired after six hours of running around a theme park screaming at people (and getting paid to do it!).

My sick cure:

Gargle with salt water and cleans sinuses with salt water immediately. Repeat two or three times a day or as needed to keep away sinus infections and congestion.

Drink lots and lots and lots of water so you have to pee once an hour.

Drink lots and lots of tea, especially if you have a friend who will give you special sick tea from his tea store. Or, pick up a box of Yogi Detox tea. I don't like the taste, but two or three cups will make you sweat out all of your grossness.

Turn off the air and curl up in blankets so you're too hot all night and sweat out all the ickies while you sleep.

Stock up on oranges.

Eat lots of sushi with wasabi.

Try gargling/ drinking/ eating foods with apple cider vinegar and eating foods with cayenne pepper if you have itchy throat or tonsil problems. I actually use a cayenne pepper coating on my tonsils, but it makes me gag.

===I used to get tonsilitis three or four times a year. Now I haven't had it in three or four years at all. I started all of the weird home remedies when I was in college and went to the free clinic b/c of horrible cold related problems. I was pretty much told to suck it up and left with a crippling headache and my ear draining gross stuff. Since then, I have managed to stay pretty sickness free, although no one will take me up on the cayenne pepper cure. It definitely works to keep me from having to go to the doctor's every three months to get antibiotics for my tonsils.

At 01:02 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Wendy, that's pretty much what I've done for years too. When I feel a cold coming on my body craves chili. Once I made it so hot that it ripped the insides of my mouth off. Got rid of the cold/sinus problems though!

At 01:33 Blogger Marjorie said...

Morning all. Fly-by ticky box, but Yay for Miss Kitty visiting!

At 01:36 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Cayenne pepper I use more as a mood booster (in particular in combination with black chocolate) but it can make you sweat so it's all good (and in line with Chinese medicine which prescribe fire foods against wet ailments).
Sauna can be used if available privately (problem being possibly infecting other users).
Wasabi will certainly clear nose (or even massive dose of horseradish).
And I swear by ginger tea, in particular if topped up with ginger schnapps.

Q-Sorry to have been hiding myself, dear.... also w/the crud stuff (something about spending day after day w/a bunch of youthful sorts who all live in the same buildings --dorms-- and eat at the same cafeteria) Although I did wonder if the virus *could* have been spreading via the interwebz...

Actually really LOVED the pee blog. Read it aloud to mum. Read it aloud to Angus and Jezebel. Luckily, neither found it specifically inspiring; still, I've vowed to be more circumspect in the future as to what I read to them.

Good call on the Lady GaGa tour--I hadn't realized until the cancellation info popped up that it was w/good ol' Kanye. She doesn't deserve to end up a late night punchline....unless, of course, if and when she intends it!

Vampi--GO GLITTER SKULLS!! I am SO with you on this one. Snickerers are jealous; offer them cheese.

Jess-- you had me at "guaranteed minutes of amusement"

Wendy-- I'd happily follow your health plan if I could GET sushi in this 127 (no, really...within city limits) horse town. 160 mile round trip for me.

OH!!! JUST HAD THOUGHT!!
Lorraine, if you want pic o' Venus made more visible, feel free to email it to me. I have GREAT programs for enhancing and improving photos; not quite CSI but I do alright :) Might be able to send you back something more suitable for Feline Fashion Today.

Waving to everyone, but especially Dragonsally (Shiraz doing okay, I hope/trust/pray in my own way.)

hugs!!

Q - People are always breaking into my house and stealing just one thing, too. Like when they stole the wallet where I keep my business cards from others that I needed after I met with the fiends. Then, they break back in and put the stuff back in odd places - the business cards turned up in the drawer where the digital camera is supposed to live. It was on the counter where the business card wallet lives. Those pesky robbers.

Look for your camera in a place where something the same size ususally is - or look in the freezer.....

I may have found my own Merry Housekeeper - stay tuned.

At 05:33 Blogger Siri said...

Oh - and yes I'm up too early - trying to get to work and back before the family wakes. Sheesh.

At 05:38 Blogger Bridget said...

Not tired of cat pee, just... tired. All day, every day. Sinuses suck. (Ha! Er.)

Skelly in the bathtub reminds me of a great story I heard yesterday - a co-worker recently bought a house. They were doing the final walk through a few days ago, just before the closing, and the previous owners left a few things. Including a skeleton in the closet.

Yep, they left an old Mr. Skelly in a closet to greet the new buyers.

LOVE. I am so doing that when we sell this place.

At 06:22 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hope Skelly scares your cold away very soon. By the way, did Skelly try out the Blackberry in the tub? Looks like the typical result.

Best,

Jess, you are a genius! I have five Bengals attacking lunch bags with toys in them. It's really funny to watch, watching them try and figure it out..

Thanks Lys, I may send them to you, but may starting actually looking for the camera too. Anything could happen. Haven't really tried yet, probably fell out in the car or something.

At 10:15 Blogger Hellie said...

Camera is probably hiding in corner mutering under breath 'grrr hmph newfangled fruity gadgets'

I just found out that Jason Webley is playing here tonight, well not right here but in a pub nearby. Why didn't I know this sooner, before I arranged to go out with workfriends?

At 11:25 Blogger fairbetty said...

Feel better soon! I have stinking cat poo at my house right now... so I can feel some of your pain... and never know who to share that with :)

At 11:36 Blogger dabbler said...

Hellie, take workfriends to Jason! Spread the word.

Here I seem to have the Fiendly Virus, but (hopefully) mildly. I subscribe to much of Wendy's pharmacopoeia. A friend makes an amazing cider vinegar/onion/horseradish/garlic/cayenne/turmeric tonic she calls Dragon's Delight. Couple of Tablespoons in hot water with honey, or ginger syrup...bliss. About the only time I like horseradish at all. Her website is http://www.farmatcoventry.com/ Good stuff all around.

Also really like raw garlic, or failing that, garlic capsules...

Like the Skelly...

Uisge, Siri's comment about possible Merry Housekeepers reminded me I never saw anything from your PA friend...perhaps she wasn't interested?

Gotta go do things!

At 11:42 Blogger dabbler said...

Quiche, I am sorry about Lady Gaga, especially because my tour boss had the tour and would have tried to bribe me out on it, maybe i would have made YOU go. I was extra-happy to not tour with Kanye, sorry guy, but you are a dog off your leash. Have worked with him before and he really needs to be contained. I couldn't believe the VMAs!! no excuse for that behavior.
Ok, time to pack orders,

Want to share my favorite new word for today: incurious. I read it in the Chicago Manual of Style, which has this discussion of whether to use footnotes or endnotes:
"Material necessary for understanding the argument should be included in the text rather than placed in the note, where the incurious may miss it."

The incurious miss a lot, was my thought.

yeah i really don't like mr west. he's caused quite a lot of headache at work. somewhat glad to see hte public has chastised him with their wallets. i was worried that the stupid stunt would make him even more popular.

At 12:46 Blogger Adri said...

My biggest disappointment about the Fame Kills tour being cancelled is that I was looking forward to Kanye's fans being exposed to Lady Gaga, and vice versa. I think we can all agree that Kanye acts inappropriately in a lot of ways. I'm sure there are lots of people who feel the same way about LG.

They're both fantastic performers, though, with a real gift that moves a lot of people, and I think that pushing people's musical and genre comfort levels is fantastic. A pop-disco/dance star with a huge queer fanbase and a hip-hop star with a huge mainstream fanbase touring together and making it work would have been in every way fantastic, I think.

Oh well; maybe next time.
