Any Amount, Any CD's, Honey, My Eyeball!

Lots to talk about but let's start with Mim on her Beowulf Blankie. It's a Beowulf Blankie and not a regular one because it was part of a promo the Studio did, and they were kind enough to send me one.

Speaking of promos (nice segue, eh?) I need to ramp up mine again. That's right, round two of "Any Amount, Any CD's" Donate ANY amount to Great Lakes Bengal Rescue at donate@greatlakesbengalrescue (or send check) and I will send you any cd's you wish.

Well, any of mine. That's Folk UnderGround (Paul and I with a drummer) Lorraine a' Malena, or the last Flash Girls (While they last) All of them have a fine mix of, well ME, Boss Songs, Me Songs, Trad songs done like you've never heard them, or whatever the heck we all felt like at the time. None of them are boring, and they sure do make nice little stocking stuffers.

The trouble is, we have a Kitty just rescued in Chicago who is running up some vet bills, about $500 worth. She is going to be ok, and we have a kind vet there, but the bill is there. We need your help, yet again. I truly do not care how much you send. Any Amount, Any Cd's.

Send the money, and then write to me at fabulouslorraine@gmail.com and let me know what and to where. All donations are tax deductible if sent directly to the fund.

No one dies on my watch. Not for lack of funds anyway.

I thank you. Again.

I also have the go ahead to auction off a Jar of OUR Honey! Not sure exactly how that is going to work, but it will be a real jar, pint size of our honey, with a label, signed by all the Beekeepers. If someone comes in with an amazing donation, I might well take it to Twitter, and see if anyone wants to top it.

Or I might say: You win.

I reserve the right do do whatever I want to, to save any and all Bengals.

And now, I know, such excitement tonight, My Eyeball!!!!!!

I go to a really fun eye clinic called The Superhero X-ray Vision Clinic. It's a lot more like seeing a bunch of friends that I only see when I feel like talking me some vision, than some sort of Who-cares-about-you Doctor visit.

My Eye Doctor, Dr Evil-but-Reasonable we will call her (I only call her that because of the whole dilation issue, which so far I have ducked, she's really quite fun, and nearly as funny as I am) decided this visit we would need to Take Some Pictures of My Eyeball.

Hello? Says I...Look, I just came from the barn, I look like I just came from the barn, no hair, no makeup, I am NOT doing a photo shoot looking like this! I mean, I hardly know you, this is all very sudden....

(I have a suspicious mind when it comes to things like this)

Turns out tho, it's not evil. And it just gets the eye ball, AND the cool thing, I had NO idea, there's a lot you can tell from an Eyeball Picture. Like they are the first often know about Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Brain Tumors! (Really? Yes.)

Who knew?

Good news? I have REALLY healthy Eyeballs.

Now if they could just fix these thighs....

Love, Bengals and Eyeballs,
Lorraine

Healthy eyeballs look weird. But not as weird as diseased ones, I'm sure.

At 19:43 Blogger Chantrelle said...

I've had those pics taken..I have a freckle on my eye! Who knew you could have that!?

The pics are so cool looking but they've never given me a copy of mine.

At 19:44 Blogger Dragonsally said...

What an amazing photo - I'd be making that into a poster.

Chantrelle really? A freckle on your eye?

At 19:46 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

They don't GIVE them to you, you have to kind of sell he idea that your eyeball would make a really cool blog...

At 19:49 Blogger dabbler said...

Well sold...it is indeed cool! I get my eyes dilated every time, cause I am so near-sighted, but have never had a picture taken. Hmm. I'll have to ask nice young eye doctor man, who replaced old, shaky, nice eye doctor man, about this.

At 19:52 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Cool eyeball. I've never asked for ones to keep, but I've seen mine on the doctor's computer. Look like Mars, they do.

Wouldn't you know it, this Thursday (if it ever stops being Tuesday) is payday. I feel a check coming on.

At 19:53 Blogger Jess said...

I have never seen a picture of an eyeball, till now. Cool! You're right. Jupiter. Actually more like a red giant star.

Go Honey Money! For the benefit of Bengals, I am guessing. :)

At 19:53 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Ok, so like my Eyeball is pretty cool, but what about the REST of my blog?

Bengals are pretty cool, and I need to take care of one now.

At 19:55 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

WAIT! I know you all have the cd's, but I bet you don't have a SIGNED PICTURE of my Eyeball?????

Ok, I am reaching here...

At 19:58 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Nope, I don't have any CDs. I am Lorraine-CD-deficient. I will remedy this situation posthaste, but will leave the choice to you.

At 19:59 Blogger mistressmousey said...

So, to donate, it's a Paypal thing to that addy? And then I get an autographed picture of your eyeball?

I'm down. :)

At 19:59 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Not kidding, ANY amount any and all cd's. You may have them all, if you have them not.

At 19:59 Blogger Dragonsally said...

*scurries back to adore Bengal photos*

But we've never seen your eyeball like that before Quiche.

At 20:01 Blogger Phiala said...

Yeah, we save Bengals all the time. We've never seen your eyeball before. :)

At 20:04 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Right. SHifting gears:

ANY amount, pay pal to donate@greatlakesbengalrescue and you get a picture of my EYEBALL, signed by both myself and the ultra cool Superhero Doctor if you like.

At 20:09 Blogger Shantra said...

I had one of those taken too. Mine have flecks in them because I have cataracts in both eyes. Maybe we could auction THAT pic.. yknow.. this is what an eyeball with cataracts looks like. OK.. now I am really reaching here. Darn but I would love that honey just no money for a little while. But I foster.. so I guess that is something.

At 20:10 Blogger Jess said...

Do I want a signed picture of your eyeball?

It's a cool picture.

Hmm.

Do I want Lorraine's eyeball framed on my wall? It might be a good motivator.

And which of us would be more creeped out by my having your eyeball on my wall?

And doesn't this comment rhyme well?

At 20:13 Blogger bengalgirl said...

I like the picture, blown up it would be great ART.

Thank you Ms. Fabulous for your offer of CD's for donations for Lucy. Lucy is a beautiful 6 year old brown spotted bengal who was turned into a Chicago shelter because "she was not wanted" any longer. Unfortunately she had to stay there for 6 days before we could get her and she picked up a nasty virus. Vet is trying to save her life but that doesn't come cheap. GLBR appreciates all and any help. Thanks, Janet

At 20:17 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Shantra, it IS something, and truly. Fostering is more important than you can know.

Jess, I will not be freaked out if you have a picture of my Eyeball on my wall.

I kind of LIKE the idea of Fiends having my eyeball on their walls. It will be the Fiend Laminate . My Eyeball.

At 20:21 Blogger mistressmousey said...

Right. Money has been posted to GLBR. I demand my autographed eyeball!

At 20:24 Blogger Fluffy said...

Well, I go away for a couple of days and all heck breaks loose. Sounds like The Who was in your kitchen, minus the smashed guitars.

Emily - R hated liquids too, and she learned to chew tablets at age 1. We could always get her to take them if we had some SweetTarts to give her with and after. They cover the medicine taste. Probably would help before and after liquids, too.

Cool eyeball photo, and I loved the Birdies in Socks On The Line shot.

Also - anyone who is looking for some cool gothy stuff should check out Target's Halloween shop. Purple and black dishtowels with skull patterns. And cool gargoyles. Lots more.

And Ariandalen - love the BroomMobile. How cool are you? Pretty darn, is how cool.

I'm skiving off tonight, but will work on my stuff tomorrow. Also going to get an expensive haircut. Wish me luck.

At 20:29 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Nothing about you needs to be fixed! Cool eyeball, though. And good luck with the Bengal Rescue.

At 20:31 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Just fixed the donate to address, it is not .com at the end...

At 20:38 Blogger Fluffy said...

Did you know if you Google "glbr" the first hit is Greater Loudon Babe Ruth? Well, it is. Donated. But not to the Babe Ruth league. Don't need you to mail anything. I hope the girl gets better!

At 20:46 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

huh...guess I will have to donate, as I *think* I'm missing the last Flash Girls cd....and if not, never hurts to have more than one for loaning!!

Chantrelle--et tu, chica? I also have a freckle on my eye!! It is HUGE, covers over a third of the back of the eyeball..... They take pics of both eyes every five years (military does) because the freckle was first found during a mil check up.

And because I handcarry my records, have always talked them into copies...

But never met anyone else w/freckle--we are more than just sushi sisters! :) And no worries--as long as it doesn't grow larger, it is safe.

BTW, Q (maybe I can shorten that to BTQ?)
Your eye looks LOVELY. Very healthy. Colour me a bit jealous, actually ....

And the Beowulf blankie looks very ... lush. mmmmmm.......

At 20:59 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

THANK YOU , I know how hard it is, and things are, and you FIends supporting us means the world to me.

And the Bengals who live with your help.

At 21:08 Blogger Aline Martins said...

I guess I WAS Lorraine-CD-deficient!
Just made my donation, and am VERY happy!

will have to count days now! ;)
and please, keep us posted!

now, do I get the Eye ball pic as an extra? LOL not sure I need it... but it's weirdly tempting LOL

What will it take to get paw-print autograph on the eyeball photo? ^_^

At 21:10 Blogger Siri said...

I do need a new and different Christmas present, and a friend who wants more color in a newly remodeled family room - SMR - what do you think? Giant Eyeball Poster?

At 21:11 Blogger Siri said...

Oh, and Chantrelle? I have a freckle on my eye too. That's not a good thing...unfortunately, which is why I also have several pictures of my eyeballs. Annual photo opp, to check progress.

At 21:12 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Thank you Aline, OSS and Mr BillyBones, Lys, Miss Mousy and everyone else who I am not knowing!

Danguy, a pawprint too? Whose? A Bengal or Cabel? Donate, I'll give you whatever you want.

At 21:13 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Siri, help the Bengals and I will get you a giant eyeball poster.

At 21:15 Blogger Jess said...

Okay, Q, that's good. Because I've got this wall in my office that's like 9' x 12'. So, you know, a print about the size of your standard world-domination map.

Hee hee, Fiend Eyeball Laminate! Yes! We could get into anything! :D

At 21:17 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Sounds good Jess, how much are you sending. Eyeball wallpaper. Done.

At 21:19 Blogger Fluffy said...

Oh, Fods! I found it! The perfect gift! I love this country!

We are still doing a couple of trips tonight moving food goods, plants, et cetera over from the house (mum doesn't drive at night) so probably won't get them done until the am.

But will post here w/link as soon as they are available!!!

At 22:08 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

Twitter killed my account a week or so ago w/out any explanation or warning. Well....really sorta put it to sleep. No posts appearing, I can't log in...anyway. That's not important right now.

But I *will* email you the link to buy shirts in the am as well...for Tweetage....and will post on Facebook.

Folks can reTweet, reFace, whatever... :)

At 22:33 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Someone came over today and saw Mim for the first time, They said " I love her Metallic fur, do you dye it that way??"

Uh, no, says I, they come that way....

At 22:36 Blogger Chantrelle said...

Um, yeah...bengals let you give them dye jobs.

Can't wait for the shirt!! You will always be watching.

At 22:37 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Can anyone IMAGINE dyeing a cat, let alone Bengal???

At 22:38 Blogger Dragonsally said...

metallic fur - that is wonderful. Of course, metallic accessories are in here this summer. You're a trend setter Q

At 22:39 Blogger Dragonsally said...

you'd certainly die trying to dye my cat

At 22:39 Blogger Chantrelle said...

Wow, people do it or at least want to (not w/ bengals i'm sure). Crazy and cruel!

At 22:42 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Why would you want to alter a glorious coat like that? People!

At 00:00 Blogger Chantrelle said...

Off to bed...am about 3/4 of the way through A Dirty Job. I'm on a Christopher Moore spree. I just started listening to Fluke today too. Thanks for the recommendations!

At 00:39 Blogger Thingama Bobbin said...

You are awesome. Just thought I'd state a fact. :)

At 01:20 Blogger Karen B. said...

Seeing that eye picture, I only thought that it would make a fine postcard. Clearly I wasn't thinking big enough! (And I'm sure your thighs are fabulously healthy, too.) Isn't it great to live in the future, where someone says "T-shirt" and someone else just does it?

I know someone who has painted (with food coloring) and dyed (pet safe) various cats over the years. It is possible, but it depends very much on the cat and your relationship with them. But that's a whole other set of stories....

At 01:22 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Amazing eyeball, I must say. It looks like an angry sun. Well. Minus the flares.

If you want to get big money for the kitties, your best guess is twitter, in particular if Neil's re-tweets the game.

At 01:25 Blogger spacedlaw said...

And some money's sent for the kitty.
No need for CDs (or laser pointer, Janet) I do believe I have them all already...

At 01:31 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Actually the eyeball would look like a great Halloween card...
Working on this.

At 03:27 Blogger Marjorie said...

You have lovely eyeballs, m'dear.

Also - Honey Auction?! Mmmmm How do we play that game?

I have all the CDs but will see what i can do for the Bengals anyway.

At 07:44 Blogger Shantra said...

Thinks for a moment about dyeing Apollo who looks a lot like Mim. Hmmm. First chase cat all around the house attempting to pick him up. Finally grab cat and pick him up. 12lbs of muscle begins to squirm and claw, hang on valiantly. Fill sink whilst holding cat, this is where the vision starts to get impossible to hold on to... because.. so is the cat.

At 08:58 Blogger Arwenn said...

Add me to the list of Fiends with Freckled Retinas!!

At 10:00 Blogger Hellie said...

That's the first upclose picture of an eyeball I've ever seen, and what a lovely one it is!

A quick hello from me, I am in the middle of my 30th birthday jaunt; 3 days in Dublin then straight to NYC, we've been here 2 days.

There was a sign on the tunnelly thingy that you walk down to get on the plane that made me laugh "DO NOT LEAVE FOD ON THE AIR BRIDGE. FOD MUST GO IN THE GREEN BIN"!!

Hope you are all well & looking forward to Halloween!

At 10:01 Blogger The Floating Lush said...

My eyeballs (well, one of them) are not happy and healthy, as was discovered when I had them photographed the last time I went to the eyeball doctor. So keep doing whatever you are doing, because otherwise they do HORRIBLE THINGS to figure out what is making the eyeballs not be happy and healthy. :(

At 10:03 Blogger Cecily said...

My mother-in-law now has two bengals, and I adore their loverly metallic fur. But I dare not get too close with any magnets. :-)

At 10:59 Blogger Marjorie said...

Well, I agree that Fod should not be left of the plane, but putting it in the green bin seems a little harsh..

Happy Firbday Hellie :-) Enjoy your Birthday jaunt!

At 11:15 Blogger bengalgirl said...

Just a quick note to thank you all so much for your donations for Lucy. I will call the Vet's office late this afternoon for an update but thanks to you all we are able to pay her estimate and even a couple more days of hospitalization. Keep thinking good thoughts for Lucy. And btw, if you choose GIFT in Paypal we do not have to pay paypal fees, it is something fairly new for Paypal.

At 11:27 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Nathilie did the coolest thing to my eyeball! I am trying to upload it to twitter, I think it is our tee shirt!

Doesn't seem to be working mind you, but I am trying...

At 11:28 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

HA! It worked! Can someone give us a link to it? Lys, can you make it a tee shirt?

At 11:33 Blogger Rubius said...

Hey folks!! I know it has been a while since I was on here but I thought I would drop in to share some cool news. The house we moved into last January is a duplex and our in-house neighbours have 3 outdoor kitties (non-spayed... yeah, I know)... the kids are responsible for feeding and caring for the cats next door but since we have been here we noticed that they don't feed them very much and the neighbourhood cats (and there are LOTS of them) and the local raccoons and, lately, the dog, tend to steal their food... so we have been feeding them or providing food for the kids to feed them not-so-secretly for many months. Since they got a large untrained dog this summer we have been taking extra care of them (and providing them with a special water/wind/dog-proofed hiding hole on our deck). Last night I spoke to the neighbours to ask if they would be upset if we took in one of their cats because she is very pregnant. They were okay with that since they have almost triple the number of people living next door as well as the dog and since the cat live-birthed on one of their mattresses last year wrecking it. They didn't know the cat was pregnant last year.. and they didn't know it when I asked them last night.

Well, we prepped the room, took the cat in and less than a half hour (about 20 minutes) after the cat was inside our house, she birthed the first one. So far as I know there are 3 (I had to go to bed so I could go to work), and there were a few complications... and some of the kittens seem very small... (we have been feeding the mom extra food and lots of milk for weeks) but we have kittens!!!!

I just wanted to share that with you all. Hope you guys are all doing well.

At 11:38 Blogger spacedlaw said...

The picture is also on my Flickr account...

At 11:41 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Kittens! That's great news, Kristina.

At 11:59 Blogger Fluffy said...

Nat, THAT is a cool picture. One of the coolest ever, in fact! Deffo getting the shirt, if it can be done.

I think this quote would also make a good T: "Any Amount, Any CD's, Honey, My Eyeball!"

And awesome job on the kittens, K. Keep us posted!

At 13:14 Blogger Lioness said...

I've donated but had to post to agree that both eyeball pictures are very very cool. I've never had mine photographed. Hmm. Wonder if they don't do that much up here.

At 13:18 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Happy Firbday Hellie! That sounds like a great jaunt.

At 13:33 Blogger Phiala said...

There. Money for kitties from me. I don't need any stuff.

Today is apparently National Chocolate Day. Sounds like an advertising gimmick to me, but any excuse for chocolate, right?

I just did something that was easy, but for some reason I'd been putting it off/fussing over it for a ridiculously long time. It was easy. Duh. I hate things like that. The fussing-energy was so much greater than the doing-energy.

At 13:42 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Way to Rescue Kristina! You most likely saved that Mother's life.

I am STILL working thru morning e-mail, at nearly 2. It's a day of it. People re starting to take Boss's "E-mail Lorraine" reply seriously...

At 13:54 Anonymous Lindsay said...

Thanks to all who donated, Janet told me about this and I can't thank you enough! Lucy is currently under my care (well she will be again tonight as I am picking her up after she spent two long nights at the vets office) She is doing better, but still needs more help and love. I seriously cannot thank you enough! It means soooo much to me and Lucy! I'll keep you all updated on her health :)

At 14:07 Blogger Rubius said...

It is still too early to count our kittens... (never count your kittens until they ...um...hatch?) but considering it is almost freezing at night for the last few nights... we are VERY happy that the cat came in.... and obviously none too soon. I am very distracted at work today... VERY distracted. I have never had a cat that had kittens (we neuter or spay our cats)... it is funny, a few weeks ago I thought to myself 'we are going to have kittens,... I just know it... and all three of our cats are already fixed.'

At 14:17 Blogger Marjorie said...

Rubius, hello & lovely to hear from you again! And congratulations on rescuing the kittens - it sounds as though they really needed you.
And hello Lindsay. So glad Lucy is doing well.(finally got PayPal to admit I'm me, and donated)

At 16:00 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

COOL, SpacedLaw!!

But Flickr compresses the picture a lot--could you possibly email it to me either uncompressed or not compressed by the automatic functions (they tend to squeeze pics down far too much.)

And tee shirts *will* be available sometime today...still juggling (class, moving, math test...standard Fiend-level Life :))

At 16:08 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

How cool is THIS? I am buying a My Eyeball shirt (or 20) myself!

Lucy Update; I called the Vet's office a bit ago and was told Lindsay, our foster was there now and was going to take Lucy home for home care. Lucy still has her ng tube so nutrients and medication can be given to her and go direct to her stomach. Lindsay got specialized training and has been wonderful since this is her first fostering with us. Here is her email update;

I am keeping her here until Saturday, she has to go back to get her feeding tube removed Saturday afternoon. She is on 3 different medications and I have everything I need to feed her through the tube, I sat down with a vet tech when I picked her up and they showed me how to do everything...hopefully a little extra love and being at a home will do her good. She's super congested so I made her a little steam room just now in the bathroom (per the vets advice) and she seemed to be enjoying it and started to calm down. There was no more blood in her stool but it is still really runny but hopefully a few more days of meds will clear that up. Even through all this mess she is still such a sweet heart.

At 19:55 Blogger Shantra said...

wow I had it easy with Apollo's illness when he came out. GREAT JOB Lindsay. Heard this is your first foster... don't worry they won't all be like this one. Hug from me, hubby, Waya, Scout, Kasey, Sakura and Apollo!

Yay Lucy!!

I want an eyeball shirt, too!

First PT visit, now have tape on heel. Apparently they can help me walk differently to ease up the pain on my knee, but I'll still need a knee replacement at some point. And they think they can help my back!

What an intriguing approach to pain relief. Sounds like it has a lot of potential to help. Fingers crossed!

Oh my Fods eyeball t-shirt.

I will try and donate. It's difficult for us, but I am earning a regular income (as of yesterday) and so I will do what I can, Quiche.

So William is very much alive and himself again. He still hasn't taken the medicine, but we'll see the pediatrician tomorrow ... and see what she has to say about this. Also, his breathing hasn't gotten any worse, so ...

At 21:33 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

Lorraine--are you still up? I've lost track of the time difference....

Have a BUNCH of tee shirt choices, and can add to them...need you to check your email before the store goes live with them, okay?

You can tell that Mim doesn't share her Beowulf blanket. :)

Lovely eyeball, Ms. Fabulous. I need to have mine looked at; past due actually. I guess this year I need to jump up and down and have a fit until the prescription is correct for my right eye. This is the first time in my life where I've had a problem getting the prescription correct for both eyes, and I've been wearing either glasses or contact lens since I was 13 months old.

Thanks Jane. We did it before but I don't think we put half the effort in we are now. This time we really are changing the way we eat and that is powerful. Congrats to you both, we are going together too. I will have a pic taken in my XL T when I can get into it!

Looking forward to the picture!

shoo, i've missed some things! i missed what happened to poor Lucy, but YAY for Bengal help, and lovely to hear of an unwell kitty getting healthier. hawesome. i'll try to pitch in. i love love love the batty eyeball pic. i'm not big on t-shirts, but this one is irresistible AND for a great cause...

hi there Rubius!!! *waves* and high-five! kittens and mama kitty rescue is brilliant.

also add me to the freckled eyeball list. :) one doctor, seeing this, asked me if i'd been a preemie. huh? and Siri - what's wrong with eyeball freckles? (or do we not want to know?)

Chantrelle, i <3 Fluke, esp "Puppy."

wheee - here comes my favorite day of the year!!! we've neglected so far to carve a pumpkin (and use the innards for baked pumpkin seeds and pumpkin-cranberry bread), but i believe all shall be set to rights today.

Shantra--take another look at the pages and pages of tee shirts. There are different tees, and if the design you like isn't on one that runs to a size for you, let me know. I can do something about that!!

Folks, remember when you go to the store page that it only shows the first twelve tees. There are a total of 68 options in the Bengal Rescue tee shirt shop now (five dollars from every shirt straight to GLBR, NOTHING to us designers and that's okay :))

You can tag on to the next page, or you can use the drop down menu at the top to view specific categories.

Miss the opportunity to pick up Phiala's famous quote: "Cat, Dog, Beer, Laptop"? It's there! Commemorative St. Pat's shows, Quiche's Birthday--available again at the Great Lakes Bengal Rescue tee shirt shop!!

Click on Spacedlaw's link, or go here:http://greatlakesbengalrescue.spreadshirt.com/

I'm particularly fond of "Not Jupiter--Quiche's Eyeball!" myself....

Na - my optometrist told me that the retinal pigmentation can be an indicator for developing colon cancer, but that it's usually just a benign birthmark. I am supposed to get a retinal photo done every year just to make sure that the mark isn't changing.

At 12:03 Blogger Shantra said...

The shirts are so great. I plugged them shamelessly on facebook and went to tell bengalgirl Janet how great they are too!.. Thanks Lys I will go look and let you know.. I mean it IS a halloween shirt!

At 12:06 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

And one (well, two :)) more notes...

If you roll your cursor over the shirt pics, you get a close up of the design. If you CLICK the shirt pic, you get its individual design page. Many of the shirts allow you to change the basic shirt color at that point.

SO LOTS OF OPTIONS!! I learnt my lesson from last time, I did :)

(oh, I really like this design because of the cool font:
The Eye of Quiche )

Shantra: thank You...glad they came out well. Nat's Bats are especially cool.

Oh! Good to know. And zoinks! But I've had freckles (including the one on my peeper) most of my existence, and need to get those checked regularly as well. Which reminds me. Many dr appts needed. *sigh*

(I know you Doctors out there are people too, and perfectly nice at that, but I have never enjoyed being a patient for anything. Which means making the appointment is most of the battle for me.)

At 14:10 Blogger Marjorie said...

I just bought me an eyeball shirt :-)

At 14:45 Blogger vampi said...

Lys, can i get a plus size bat shirt no text? it looks like the plain bat is on there twice, i suspect one was supposed to be plus sized.
hilarious shirts, great job. i plan on wearing this all year round :D

At 15:26 Blogger Karen B. said...

Finally remembered to send a little money, yay. Warm & comfy mama-cat with new kittens, YAY! Enjoying the fine range of fiend T-shirts, including eyeballs? Priceless.

Oh, and none of the cats that my friend died were Bengals. Also, please note that "painting with food coloring" was actually "this white cat doesn't mind being petted by a hand that's enclosed in a glove -- which, whoops! (how'd that happen?) just might have food coloring on it."

At 16:24 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Karen - that is gorgeous!

My eyeball t'shirt is ordered...I get lots of questions from my original t'shirt. Can't wait for some curly ones with the new-un!

At 16:58 Blogger Shantra said...

lys I did mail you... I want the same as Vampi, if we can have a plus option on there I will order, probably tomorrow.

At 17:47 Blogger Dragonsally said...

have you seen this?

At 18:53 Blogger Chantrelle said...

I love the shirts and I can't decide which pattern i want! When I do decide could I trouble you, Lys, to do a Slimfit women's t-shirt? I'm leaning toward the bats....decisions, decisions!

At 20:55 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

Vampi, Shantra and others....

Yup, it was supposed to already be available in the Plus tee.

It is now!! And should show up on the first page of just the regular shop.

If you can't find the Quiche Eyeball shirt you're looking for, use the drop down menu to select the Quiche's Eyeball category.

Chantrelle--any design you want, chicabelle!!

And remember, these can be on tank tops, hoodies, even sleeping shirts! Just let me know, folks--unless I'm in the middle of exams, we're talking same day service here :) Go GLBR!!

At 23:58 Blogger Chantrelle said...

Realized on the way to bed that we were out of bread and ben wouldn't have a sandwich in his lunch....threw some ingredients in the bread maker. Sure glad I bought that machine! Hope the loaf turns out and glad i realized *before* i went to sleep!

Tomorrow is the halloween parade at his school so the morning will be costume mayhem. I'm dressing up too although it will be a pared down version of my costume. Can't put that all together at 7am!

Night all!!

At 00:44 Blogger vampi said...

so free tip, do not, i epeat, do not go to joann fabrics the week of halloween. you would think they were giving away gold. i have aquired fabrics to complete my fortune teller look. i alway go as a vampire, so this time i'm going fortune teller. just trying to figure out how to tie my scarves

At 01:30 Blogger Na said...

vampi - i recommend also avoiding Goodwill and Savers. eeeks! but i need to buy a cheap used cookpot - Louisa gave me the most brilliant recipe and idea, which involves cauliflower, red dye, and goop -> "brains and blood", to go with a 'sploded pumpkin. Mwahahaha!

and just finished editing a behemoth of a book ms - and sent it off!!!! to sleep, oh yes, to sleep.

also getting up early tomorrow/later to get the monsters' treats (for class parties) and costumes sorted.

At 04:27 Blogger louisa said...

Morning all. Imagination is always better than reality but here's my cauliflower-brain-goop-pumpkin, a hasitly taken pic as it's raining, will try for a better one later (with Barbie books).

Hi Rubius! So glad you shared 'bout the kittens, I went all melty reading your post, I hope there will be photos?

At 07:42 Blogger Marjorie said...

That's great, Louisa (And I bet it will get better as the brains 'mature' over the next day or two....)

At 08:49 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Eeeew! That is wonderful, Louisa!

Kate, Andrea, and I had a wonderful time last night. Well, I had a wonderful time. I'm hoping they did too ;-)

We went to my favorite Ethiopian place, which I'm happy to say has apparently been doing well enough that they've hired a manager. I think this restaurant is a Mom-and-Pop place, so being able to hire him must be a good sign. He was very earnest in his new job, making the rounds. We got to talking about how good Ethiopian food was (he took the job without ever having tried it before!), and how this restaurant was my favorite in Chicago, so I kept bringing people in. Next thing we know, we're getting our wine topped off after the bottle was gone, then getting free dessert. Great timing on our part!

As usual among fiends, the conversation flowed freely and was great fun. I could not have enjoyed the evening more. Thanks, fiends!

At 08:51 Blogger Phiala said...

Sounds like fun, OSS! I haven't had Ethiopian food in ages - obviously I must come visit!

At 09:11 Blogger Jane said...

Sounds like you all had a great time! And yes, it helps to be a regular at a restaurant and talk to the people who work there :-)

Steve and I feeling so anxious about Calvin, wondering if the treatment is working, watching him to see if he can walk, breathe, eat (not much), purr and any other activity we can obsess about.

Poor kitteh is not feeling well, but we have drugs to make him feel better (we think) so that helps. Argh...

At 09:15 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Oh, poor Calvin. I hope he responds well to the meds. I'll keep thinking about you three.

At 09:33 Blogger Shantra said...

Quick fly by. Special hug to Jane. Shirt ordered. How do I get a Hoodie and how much? Idea for a slogan for the shirts.. Batty about Bengals.

Like it?

At 10:19 Blogger vampi said...

i think the fiends will enjoy this halloween cake. made me lol

At 10:25 Blogger Shantra said...

The cake is great. Seriously tho.. I wonder if Lys could do me a Hoodie with Batty about Bengals on it. Same design as the shirt I just ordered. Waddya think Lys?

At 11:47 Anonymous kali_licious said...

Much batty eyeball goodness! The Tees are really cool. If only I wasn't a poor student:(.

Q, someone just tagged you in a bunch of Flash Girls pictures on FB: http://www.facebook.com/posted.php?id=1250967408&share_id=319075245531&fragment=share_footer319075245531&comments#/album.php?aid=2024547&id=1390644788&ref=nf

At 12:01 Blogger Phiala said...

I'm wearing the Mistress of Skulls shirt today (and appropriate accessories). My postdoc approached me after a seminar. "Where'd you get that great shirt?"

"Made it, with designs from an artist friend."

"Is that really your name?"

"Oh yes. But I try to keep it secret from potential employees until after they're hired."

*grin*

Today contains two projects. One is done (culmination of months of fussing!), and the other will be done enough shortly. After which I'm off to the farm for the weekend, and will be internetless until Sunday.

And to all you lovely new Fiends: I am truly the Mistress of Skulls, responsible for the skulls on the Fiend Map. You can add yourself, and please do, with as much or as little detail as you'd like. If you make a mistake, I can fix it for you. Represent yourself on the map!

I see lots of you have, including plenty of folks who seem to have never commented. Hey, introduce yourself! This is the perfect time of year to admit to being a Fiend!

Very excited to go haunting tomorrow niight!

At 20:08 Blogger dabbler said...

Whew. One of those weeks that I'm really glad to have over. No great crises, but a stubborn pattern of mechanical failures, personal failures, frustration, and just no fun. Love my new car, but it's making funny ticking engine noises with the supposedly new engine they put in it, supposedly. Printer head of at-home printer broke, and as a result, won't let me scan or fax. Printer and fax at work won't fax,
some sort of line quality issue. Plunged two toilets, had to call plumber at work. Discovered vase DS broke back from Turkey is now mysteriously broken. No one knows anything about it. Had to go to training to have CE's to renew license, knew where training was, listened to maps google, they were arong. Was late.

Boy am I glad it's Friday night.

But the mental picture of dying Mim's fur almost made up for all that. Thanks for listening to me whine. I now return you to your regularly scheduled fiendom.

At 20:13 Blogger dabbler said...

Also thanks for cake wrecks, adorable cats and fawns, and even bloody brains. Feeling MUCH better now....

At 20:17 Blogger ariandalen said...

Happy Belated Firbday, Hellie! Hope it was wonderful. :)

We'll know tomorrow if Seren has H1N1 flu. She woke up with a fever of 103.6 F. She's responding well to acetaminaphen, but is unlikely to go trick-or-treating tomorrow night.

At 20:53 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Oh no - Ariandalen that's not fair, right on Halloween. Tell Seren to get better quickly.

At 20:55 Blogger Dragonsally said...

And Dabbler. I hope the weekend makes up for a bad week.

At 21:02 Blogger dabbler said...

Thanks, DS...I'm hoping, too!

Adriandalen, the year Penny had chicken pox for Halloween we hid candy all over the house for her to find once she felt better. Of course, she was only three... Hope Seren feels better ASAP.

At 21:07 Blogger vampi said...

awww fingers crossed for quick recovery for seren. quiche is sick too? we need some sort of fiend immunity.

FRIDAY!!!!! <12

At 21:29 Blogger Jess said...

I have only this to say:

SCARY PUMPKINS.

At 21:31 Blogger ariandalen said...

Seren isn't doing all that badly. The Jr. Tylenol is taking care of the fever when it starts getting too high, and she doesn't currently have a bacterial upper respiratory infection. She saw the doctor this morning, definitely has a virus, and was swabbed for H1N1. We'll know by midday tomorrow (Halloween). Her 6th birthday is Tuesday, and she may well be back in school by then.

Ariane wants to take an extra candy bucket to get candy for Seren. The home owners association has a Halloween Hayride each year. Somehow, I've become the parent that "gets" to ride in the flatbed trailer with the girls while sitting on hay bales as we go around the subdivision. There are usually 4-6 trailers full of kids and parents, it's a bit hilly, and everyone owns at least two acres, some more than that. It is supposed to be clear tomorrow night, but a bit chilly for here. All will work out.

At 21:35 Blogger ariandalen said...

That's a heckuva lot of work for a Predator pumpkin! That must have taken days to carve.

At 21:58 Blogger Dragonsally said...

That pumpkin is beyond amazing

At 06:40 Blogger louisa said...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At 08:23 Blogger EmilyLady said...

That sounds like a lovely Halloween, Ariandalen; save for Seren getting terribly ill. But Ariane is thoughtful to bring another bucket.

Well, happy Halloween, Fiends!

At 10:22 Blogger Hellie said...

Thanks for the firbday wishes, my 20s are officially gone! Having a great time, saw an amazing concert at Madison Square Garden & off to the Greenwich Village Halloween parade this evening.

Happy Halloween everyone, hope it's your spookiest yet (mwa ha ha ha)!

At 10:35 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Oh! Well! Happy birthday, Hellie.

Haven't heard the latest from Lindsay about Lucy yet but did get the bill today, $521.56 which doesn't cover the visit today for tube removal and whatever. So I thank you all so much for helping cover this for us. Lucy will be one expensive adopted cat once she is healthy and finds a new home.
