Happy New Year! May All Your Dreams Be Sweet....

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and days o'auld lang syne ?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes,
and pu’d the gowans fine ;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot,
sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl’d i' the burn,
frae morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere !
and gie's a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught,
for auld lang syne.

Love and Happy New Years to you, where ever you are...
Lorraine

Happy New Year:)

Second! (maybe)
Happy 2010! (It's starting outside my window with several bangs. The furries are NOT amused)

2nd - what Kali said, and commenter.

Someone sent this to my sister, who lives in California. You can insert any midwestern state name in the poem.

It's winter in Iowa
And the gentle breezes blow,
70 miles per hour at 25 below!

Oh, how I love Iowa
When the snow's up to your butt,
You take a breath of winter air
And your nose is frozen shut

Yes, the weather here is wonderful,
I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave Iowa ,
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground.

Happy New Year to those in the middle of the atlantic, or so.

Rats - 3rd. Still 2nding what Kali said!

Wishing all the fiends a very happy new year.

At 17:10 Blogger Jess said...

Well I guess that makes me Sixth.

Happy New Year! I am glad to know you, Q, and all those fiends I've had the privilege to meet. And also those I haven't. A happy time to all.

Looking sharp! Rock out! We're off to eat the crappy pull-apart Veggie Tree wot I just made. Because New Year's Eve = stuff made with crescent roll dough.

At 17:22 Blogger Phiala said...

Happy new year and much fiendly fun.

At 17:26 Anonymous kali_licious said...

Is it bad that when I read these lyrics I hear Billy Connolly singing them?;)

Jess you can't go wrong with crescent roll stuff.

At 17:28 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

Yowza!! That is the rockin' babe look. Ah, NYE in the land of permafrost :) How I miss it....

Okay, let's give my nose a moment to return to normal. But you do look great, Q. And soon (if not already) there will be music.

(Much thanks for the lyrics, btw--don't think t'ever see them afore)

I have music as well, today. For having FINALLY finished furnishing my much larger room in the house wot mother bought (yay!) I am also finally starting to unlock and unpack the many gorilla boxes (er, black plastic trunks w/hidden wheels) w/ all my stuff (esp stuff from Iraq.)

So now I have access to things like the cool cds you sent me then. YAY TWICE!! And lots of other stuff, too (Vampi, I hope you haven't moved in the last year....)

Okay...back to our regularly scheduled NYE greetings.

I lift a toast to all Fiends who are already in next year, and send my wishes for a grand transition to all the rest.

Hope to see many familiar names Saturday night--hey, we can celebrate the Fiendish New Yar. Like regular NYE, but on a 48 hour time delay :)

At 17:33 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

Went back and caught up on comments from previous post, too. Jess--you should ALWAYS type out loud. You SLAY me!!!! hehehe.

And Jane...thanks for the mention of Calvin--sorry he had a bad night there, but just so glad to hear he's still hanging in there. Love to the furry.

okay...back to the unpacking (sweeeeeeet....)

Lorraine, you're looking drop dead gorgeous there.

Hope everyone is having a grand NY...

We haz rain. lots of it, which is perfect after two very hot days. FIngers crossed, maybe just maybe twentyten is the year the drought has broken.

At 18:03 Blogger Chantrelle said...

Rock or not (and there will be rock, i know), you look flippin' hot lady!

Happy new year. No orange straws tonight (right? not orange?)

Thank you for bringing all these lovely fiends into my life this year. Not least of all yourself. My life became richer the moment I found this place.

At 18:07 Blogger AletaMay said...

Wow. What a beautiful New Year's Eve look you've got going there Quiche!

Happy New Year to all Fiends around the world. I'll lift a glass to you when midnight comes round in my part of the world.

I'm afraid I will not make it to Charlie's tonight. I really need this to be a tucked in evening of reading and writing, drinking some wine and eating some chocolate, clearing my mind and heart for 2010. Plus I am having some sort of weird sinus thing that has me wiped out.

At 18:10 Blogger EmilyLady said...

And may you have a brilliant New Year.

Happy New Year all. Here is to a great gig! *raises glass*

At 18:25 Blogger Jane said...

Happy New Year!

Lorraine, you're looking drop dead gorgeous there. I repeat Sally...

We're staying in this year as Steve is feeling a bit under the weather, it's cold and rainy here, neither of the 2 places we were going to go evidently is all that appealing to us tonight, the list goes on...

Had a great lunch with a friend, bought 4 new sweaters and a Christmas gift (much fun buying it), got Mom's dental work taken care of and Calvin appears to have gotten over his digestive distress (thank fod).

Not bad for the last day of the year, I think.

And love to you all.

At 18:33 Blogger Dan Guy said...

Lovely picture! Have a rocking show tonight!

At 19:22 Blogger vampi said...

happy rockin' new years eve to all, except those where it is already 2010, and then happy new year's :D

we did way too much shopping today, but i found a new eye glass place and bought some very expensive but totally ad eye glasses. i was so much happier at this place than the last. my glasses are an eggplant purple and red mixture. *squee*

off to have cheeseball and crackers and settle in while the drunken idiots play death race outside.

At 20:48 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Its less than half the temperature right now than it was at this time yesterday. No wonder I just put a jumper on!

Hope you're all having fun.

At 20:55 Blogger Phiala said...

Hi Sally! How's 2010 looking?? I still have 2 hours before I begin to find out.

At 20:58 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Its looking sparkling clean and fresh Phiala.
There is something prophetic about rain washing away the old year.
Its also very quiet.

At 20:59 Blogger Phiala said...

Well, rain here and now would be a problem. We might get a bit more snow, though.

But clean and quiet, I like that.

Happy New Year to all Fiends between the Atlantic Ocean and the International Date Line!
May 2010 be better in all ways than 2009!

Hi, Mary Jo! Thou art now officially a Fiend! Celebrate the transition of the year with a lovely white jacket; we all have one. Grab anything you would like to personalize your jacket from the table on your right. :)

Happy 2010. I liked the thought; may it be better in all ways, for everyone. Indeed.

Sally, that does sound like a good harbinger, that rain at New Year's.

Tonight I was out in the blue moonlight making ice candles. Cold like Siri said - the kind of cold what shuts your nose right up. Ah, must be -30 C then.

Slainte, all! *raises glass, too*

I am in New Orleans! My apartment is awesome! I will post pics on my LJ soon!

I am tired! I will go to sleep now!

At 01:56 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Happy New Years! I am home now!

Much rock did happen, tho we had to work for it. Very odd crowd, not first set, that was pretty par, but second started and it was a whole lot of people who were not together, as one, with US.

Got 'em tho. Oh yes. They were one about half way thru. Made sure of that. No one gets left behind on New Years in at MY show.

Love to El who came down with a gaggle of new Gaga level dancers, and to that guy who writes Mr Billy Bones Stories, with his family.

(even if his son was about 20 years older than I had assumed, from all the talk about his kid)

And not that they will see this, but to the Neville Brothers, without whom it would NOT have been New Years. I knew you would come. I love you SO.

At 02:12 Anonymous kali_licious said...

Lys, I can understand giving up the fireworks but wouldn't the champers go nicely with Dr Who marathons? Mimosas and marathons, what's not to like?;)

Yay Wendy you made it!:)

Glad there was Rock and some regulars Q.:) Did you remember the words or did you have to use the phone?

At 02:16 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Well, Auld Lang Synge was sort of besides the point by then, we did it, but in a key too low for my trashed voice, so we just got in and out as fast as we could.

Glad some one is still up! I run around for hours after a show like this.

At 02:33 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

Lorraine--what is the chance of an Auld Lang Syne reprise on Saturday night, ending the webcast perhaps? It would be a sweet gift to all of us who will be together then (virtually) We could all sing it together! And if anyone is off key, or has a tired voice....none will know :) Or at least care.

btw..Hope to meet the Neville bros someday :)

Kali--I didn't exactly give up the fireworks, or the champagne. And am drinking a Mimosa even as I type, watching Dr. Who try to explain Sara Jane and K-9 to Rose (hehehehe)

But there was a bit of an adventure here, and now I have one tired cat (though he still thinks he can face down a German Shepherd. I don't have the heart to tell him he was saved by a chain link fence)

At 02:38 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Lys, we can do that! Sure, and this time in a key we can sing it in!

The Neville Bros say they will come for the webcast, but they don't come until late. SO you can meet them last set if they do.

I should mention THESE NEville Bros are a group of about 8 or so, with Neville sisters who love us and come to our shows and I adore them, but they are not the famous musical brothers you may have heard of.

You will love them tho as well.

Ok, Two more days to learn this Scottish song...

At 02:45 Blogger Dragonsally said...

\o/ Wendy
\o/ Lorraine.

Lys, I am very glad to hear you are indulging with Dr Who and mimosas. I love that episode - it was so nice to see K9 again. Good Dog!

At 02:46 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

Hey, I just realized the head bad guy in this episode is Buffy's first Watcher, Giles. hehehehehe.....

Missed almost all of the Queen Victoria creating Torchwood ep due to cat (mis) adventures and explosions. Cie la vie (sp?)

As for learning the Scottish song...I will also learn it, and sing, even though you will have to take my word for it! :) Next year we will have two way web feeds! Year after that at the latest. Yay for intarwebz and connectivity!!

At 02:47 Blogger Dragonsally said...

video chat would be awesome with the webcast, although I imagine with all of us blabbering away at the same time it could get a little loud and confusing.

At 02:53 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

Thank you, DS! And happy New Year to you, as well (it isn't the day after yet, right? :)) We will see how long I can stay awake (40 hours! I took a nap!)drinking these Mimosas. *g*

We also have a lovely fire going, as that was my mother's one wish for the New Year.

So...the Neville bros are actually a veritable tribe? They sound like great fun...and I *do* recall you mentioning them during a previous webcast, methinks. Saturday perhaps you can tell them to take a bow for your online family :)

At 03:17 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

"I'm the Dr., and I just snogged Madame de Pompadour" heehe. I just LOVE this. (and why is that horse following him, anyway?)

Okay, I promise to stop. SO once again, love and luck for the New Year for all.

Lorraine, I wish you good rest as well.

Good night! (er, morning...)

At 03:46 Anonymous kali_licious said...

Ooh a virtual sing-a-long, we Fiends could surely do that!

Glad to hear you've got mimosas and a fire and a cat AND the Doctor, Lys.:)

I do hope we finally get to see the Neville group. Maybe you could make them come up front at the end?;)

'Night Fiends, tonight my resolution is to go to bed before 5. And I've had lots of caffeine today. Wheee!

At 04:00 Blogger louisa said...

Coffee and homemade chocolate truffles - every year should start this way! Plus mega hyper kitties because we haz snow! Started around 11 last night and woke to a white garden. Love watching my jet-black panther stalking through it.

I got to see the Blue Moon for the thirty seconds it wasn't behind cloud, too early to see the effect of the eclipse though. Always pretty to see a full moon over the Bay.

Glad you arrived safely Wendy, and glad there was Good Music, there should always be Good Music. In about an hour there's going to be Good Banana Bread, do I know how to start a year right or what??

Happy New Year from Rhode Island.

At 09:19 Blogger LincolnBlog said...

We had a wonderful time at the show. Apologies for leaving the room in the middle of a song, but after several cokes I was about to perform a very wrong version of river dance.

Happy new year.

At 09:22 Blogger EmilyLady said...

I often say it's a blessing I have so much self-restraint or this house would have a nutty dancer on its hands, definitely. And most of you know this firsthand!

At 10:17 Blogger vampi said...

muahaha riverdance, that is how i am going to refer to going to the bathroom from now on...

At 10:20 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

Alrighty then--had a wee nap and now up in time to see Runaway Bride. Only some 30 odd hours of the Dr to go! :)

At 10:52 Blogger Jess said...

Oh boy, that's right: new Doctor Who tonight! (How rhymey.) Woot! \o/

Speaking of needing to Riverdance, I meant to answer Mary Jo's* bathroom art question from the other post. I'm afraid I've got one of those Tournee du Chat Noir posters in there, and a picture of Some Stairs in Paris hanging over the toilet, because there was a nail there. Also some ceramic fish tiles made by someone my dad knew in college. And a cast resin frog. And a fish soap dish, though I'm not sure soap dishes count. And that is the sum of my bathroom art, the end.

_____

*Hi, Mary Jo!

At 10:53 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Oh, see, I didn't even get the bathroom reference. (shakes head)

At 11:23 Blogger Beez said...

Happy New Year all. Lorraine, that was a fabulously glam look you had last night.

We had a quiet evening of movies and food and just family-type hanging out. This was just what we wanted, and midnight brought the banging of pots and pans and firecrackers- my neighbors are Traditionalists!

At 11:54 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I didn't mind you leaving in the middle of the song, it was a talking song, and I go after everyone in the room. Improv you know. I'm good at it.

Morning!

First thing I saw today was my freal kitty who I hadn't seen all winter, waiting at a different window, as one can't get to the deck just now.

I fed him of course, message seems clear.

At 11:54 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Make that Feral. Not Freal. Tho that might be a nice name for him.

At 12:01 Anonymous Lysandwr said...

Obviously he was out of town for a few weeks--probably somewhere warmer! Hobo kitty knoez where buffet is best--and open.

At 12:19 Blogger spacedlaw said...

There is a sign over that door saying "All year round open kitty buffet".

Freal sounds like something a purring cat might make when rubbing itself against your leg to ensure you get the message "feed me, pet me, feed me".

At 12:31 Blogger louisa said...

Goth photo? I was wearing my DISCO SHIRT! Ah well..

I know you are about the Royals Kitty, and Lear misses you, he told me so.

I am going to see Lady Gaga with Mads in January! Very exciting, and am really looking forward to it. Like, um, in nine days I think, ack!

At 13:10 Blogger Phiala said...

I have just done a New Year's good deed. My friend is in Houston for the holidays, but her catsitter was in a horrible car accident yesterday, and was taken to large regional hospital. Catsitter's husband even called my friend to see if he should drive back with the spare key, but was told emphatically no.

I am now filling in as surrogate catsitter. My friend arranged to get me a spare key from management, on New Year's Day and against all apartment complex rules. The cat was ridiculously happy to see me, though he wasn't even out of food. All is now well with the cat, and I hope it will be so with the catsitter.

At 13:13 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I think doing good deeds on New Years Day is a really good start to the year.

Almost went back to bed. But, lunch with BFF and then shopping. 2 pairs of slacks. 1 pair of shorts. 1 shirt. 1 jacket. Total Cost - $26.89. Dillard's sales - priceless.

Lorraine, I thought you meant he was your 'for real' stray cat...
I rather like F'real as a name.

Jane, poke and hug Ticia for me too, and get her to do the same back at you!

I really must get on with the day, I'm still in pj's, but I blame that on the hour long phone call with my mum just now!

Our favorite pizza place is closed for the holidays so we're doing what we use to do all the time....making our own pizza! The bread machine is doing the initial work. One ball of dough is already made, the other is in the machine. Pizza sauce is on the stove simmering down. Now to dig some toppings out of the fridge...wonder what we have?

All the while listening to Jason Webley.

Hubby and Ben are out riding bikes until it gets too dark. Lovely first day of 2010!
