Coming Back From The Dead....

I think I may live, which is the big good news for the night. I wouldn't say I'm WELL yet, but I sure do feel a lot better. Thank you for all the love, stories and good wishes. Really looking forward to getting some energy again, and getting back to riding. Not coughing. All that good stuff.

Can you tell the Exploding Fireplace is now fixed?

Yes. Mim has been enjoying the Olympics. Big figure skating fan. Doesn't much like hockey. Jury is still out Curling. We like the concept, pretty wacky sport, and sure, I'd be up for trying it, but I am not SURE it is a spectator sport. Even on as many drugs as I was on.

Speaking of which, my remarks about watching Taboo: Nudity in Religion and learning the term "Skyclad" were not meant to denigrate any religion. The show had segments on several sects of several religions that like to, well, do their thing naked.

Go for it, whatever makes you happy, feels good and hurts no one. What people do in private is their own business. How we find God/TheGods/Goddess/Insert Whomever, is between each person and their own beliefs. The remarks were meant to convey my personal surprise at seeing these private things on TV while on enough drugs to make everything just a wee bit weird anyway.

I still maintain, it was definitely unexpected. Should have stuck with curling.

Venus, of course, thought both Taboo AND the Olympics equally entertaining....

Love and Health,
Lorraine

Welcome back. Please let us know if you have any brain cravings.

I don't get the curling but would try playing like bocci ball or shuffle board.

At the neighbors for kids' movie night and sushi. Tomorrow is Magnetic Fields w/ Ticia!!!

I'm glad you are better. Those are great rolling around on the carpet photos. I've been entertaining myself this evening by shovelling snow and writing microfiction. I've moved on now to providing a comfy place for the cat to settle.

Nick is out somewhere and I'm starving. But the minute I find some food he'll show up with dinner. But if I wait, he'll come in and be surprised that I didn't eat hours ago. It's a no-win situation around here. I'm starving, but the longer I wait the happier the lapcat will be...

Quiche- I'm so happy you're feeling better. We missed you!

Chantrelle- we are going to have so much fun!

Hi Dan!

Phiala-Just eat. If he brings something home, you'll have lunch for tomorrow. Win-win.

Off to see Crazy Heart with the incredible Maggie Gyllenhall. Well, with my husband, but Maggie's in the movie. :)

OMG, that is the BEST picture of Venus! Can we make it into a greeting card or something?

Glad the lurgy is getting the boot no matter how piecemeal.

Keep getting lots of rest (yeah, right). Watching my students relapse right and left. #patientfail

We DO need to do somthing with that photo of Venus. I almost just posted it and nothing else...Pretty lucky shot, I say. Still makes me smile.

I don't think anyone took offense, you know. We knew what you meant.

Glad you are feeling better! And that the exploding fireplace no longer explodes.

My cats are sitting here, wondering where dinner is. Even though they saw me prepare the dinner and put it down. And know where it is. I will not carry them to their bowls.

Glad to see you're feeling better, Lorraine. That picture of Venus sure can't hurt in the cheering up department.

Long and strange week here. Think maybe being sick the week before took all my emotional energy away. Why do the good emotions require energy anyway. Mean old vicious circle, that is.

I think I'll take two looks at a laughing Venus and call it a night.

Phiala, eat! Claim low blood sugar emergency if ill-timed dinner shows up later.

Good night, dear fiends.

HI-larious shot, indeed!

yay for feeling better!

yay for Magnetic Fields watching!

i kinda dig curling. maybe they put something in the water here? at any rate i'd like to try whatever funky shoes they wear, that they can gllide on one foot and get traction with the other. also, it's one of those activities what's prolly more fun to play than to watch, all that strateejizing and whathaveyou.

tomorrow we plan to be warm! we are going to a water park. at the mall.

At 23:33 Blogger Cecily said...

So happy you are feeling better!

I have actually been enjoying watching the curling, and I have to say that I think Miriam Ott is just adorable. :-)

Also, OMG great pic!

I had always thought curling involved one of two things. First, some kid with pimples asking if you would like to try the curly fries. Second, your hairdresser telling you how fabulous you will look with the dye and curl job. Who ever knew that it actually centers around men with brooms?

At 03:45 Blogger Kimberly said...

Oh, I'm SO glad to hear you're feeling better! Being that sick SUCKS!

And yes - nothing is cuter than Ziggy, except tomorrow's Ziggy, because the little booger, at just five weeks old, is getting cuter! EVERY. DAY!

He's Cute when he is sleeping...

He's cute when he's awake...

He's cute when he's been bad or good ...

He is CUTE for goodness sake!

Whoops - sorry about that out of season ear worm my fellow fiends (why yes, I think I've been assimilated... you might just be stuck with me, even after this fostering is over!)

Hopefully Z&z are worth it :) (there are TONS of vids and pics at those links, those are only a couple of them! He's SUPER FREAKIN' FANTASTICALLY CUTE now ... for real!)

(Oh, and he's not even really BAD in the "bad" video, I promise :) )

At 04:02 Blogger Marjorie said...

Glad you're not dying:)

Looks like Zora is loving the fact that she can play with Ziggy now. So cute.

I have awake for a total of about 4 hours today, and am on my way to bed again now. Shall report on the gig and stuff tomorrow, when my brain cells are working properly again. Have good Saturdays all.

At 07:23 Blogger Phiala said...

Oh the cute! Am ded. *dies*

But then, I spent the first part of the morning with Morgan tucked up against me under the covers purring as only a Maine coon can, so my cute tolerance should be pretty high right now. Just not high enough for Ziggy!

At 07:50 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Oh good. Living. I am pleased.

At 08:12 Blogger Jane said...

So glad to hear you're recovering. Life sucks when you feel so bad...

Phiala - OMG I burned Barbie's foot; it still looks a little charred and she is here in a closet. Maybe I should move her to Mom's? Also, does Nick have a cell phone? Hello, are you bringing me dinner? Maybe he doesn't work like that...

Venus (or Mim?) yawning on the floor, I can see that one on lolcats with a million captions :-)

Baby shower for niece today and surprise party tonight for sister who retired yesterday! All family all day...it will be fun.

At 08:40 Blogger Phiala said...

Jane, just picture Barbie coming down the hall one night, limping on her charred foot...

Helpful, that's me.

At 9pm last night I gave up on waiting for Nick and went rummaging for something to eat. And of course that's when Nick walked in the door, all proud of himself for bringing home dinner. It still needed to be heated up. We were eating by 10pm, but just barely.

At 08:44 Blogger Jane said...

Yes, that is EXACTLY the image I had of Barbie, thanks! She can still wear one of her Barbie stilettos on that foot, though, so she shouldn't complain much.

The only reason I even have her is because Mom crocheted clothes for her. At the time I'm sure I would have wanted the store bought clothes - but now I know what a gift those crocheted clothes were.

Good to hear you're feeling better!:)

And RE:Taboo, no offense taken, no worries. Never understood the need for the skyclad thing anyway...the whole outside with bugs and the possibility of sunburn in really bad places just doesn't work for me. I can well imagine just how disorienting that had to be to come across it while hopped up on cold meds, especially since those folks, while I'm sure are wonderful people, are not um, camera-ready so to speak.;)

At 11:34 Blogger vampi said...

i guess i posted mentally and not with blogger. <3 kitty pictures, especially the poltergeist one where mim is going into the tv.

nothing wrong with commenting on skyclad. i would have found it a bit odd myself if i had seen the show myself. doesn't bother me one wit that people do those things, but it's not for me. i do like the term skyclad though, it's a much nicer way of saying it.

At 14:03 Blogger Siri said...

Did I say thanks for all the wishes? Could have been better - couldn't get into the place I wanted to go for a celebratory meal, so went to the back-up place. Nice dessert, so all's well.

At 15:23 Blogger Cecily said...

Finally catching up a little...

Chantrelle, I love both bocci and shuffle board. But I also totally want to try curling.

Wyman, it's funny you say men with brooms, cause I have only seen the women's games so in my mind I see women playing.

Hmph. I just don't know.

This year we are Xenon! One of the Geek ways to state our age. :)

Hurray! Maddy G. is taking her violin solo to State!

At 17:24 Blogger Ticia said...

Okay, I was a good geek girl and I looked for Xenon in reference to age on the internet first, but was unable to make the correlation.

How old is xenon? And are there other ages that have awesome slang too?

At 17:29 Blogger Siri said...

Xenon is a chemical element represented by the symbol Xe. Its atomic number is 54.

Silly Ticia.....

Kimberly, of course you have been assimilated! You were meant to be a fiend!

Zirconium. Hmm. Sounds so fake.

At 20:44 Blogger dabbler said...

Ooh, ooh, I'm neodymium. Hmm. New dymium. Apparently I'm part of magnets (the attractive personality) and used in making glass for lasers. Could be worse, I guess...

And I get discounts!

At 21:19 Blogger Jess said...

I am Bromine. I am a halogen. I poison soldiers.

Mr. Jess is Krypton. He is a noble gas, which means that he's inert and unreactive. Yep. That's accurate.*

____

*He'd like to point out that he might be persuaded to react with Fluorine.

At 21:47 Blogger vampi said...

i'd say he also interacts with superman...

At 21:54 Blogger Jess said...

No, that's kryptonite, which is in the same class of element as madeupium and unobtainium.

Superman does fly by gas propulsion, however.

At 22:23 Blogger vampi said...

LOL and seriously, unobtanitum? i still haven't seen that movie because of that.

At 22:44 Anonymous kali_licious said...

I seem to be Zirconium. OSS I agree it sounds kind of fake.

Vampi, I don't wanna see that movie either. Every time I hear the word "unobtainium" it's all I can do not to roll my eyes. LOL

At 23:46 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I have no idea what I am except beyond tired. Went to the Cities to see Fast Eddie today, then lunch with the Stemples, and dinner with Boss and the Stitelers , all very nice.

Home now, bathed, Bengals fed and brushed, I am couched, which is is also my bed these nights, and tea'd.

All is good.

Except I gave Venus and Mim a little sissle tree with catnip, so maybe they would leave the new cuch alone and now they are hopped up crazed and drugged out wildcats.

Turned on the fire, which MOSTLY puts them to sleep.

At 23:55 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Ah well, giving the kids catnip before bed time isn't such a good idea. Let's hope they'll get the hint soon. How was Maddy's concert?

At 09:14 Blogger Marjorie said...

Ooh, I'm Krypton, too. Maybe I should start being noble & inert.

At 09:40 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I loved m dreams last night, going to be a great day!

Maddy didn't do a concert, it's called "solo ensemble" they go in in a room and play for a judge, one at a time, kids all over the region, the best few go onto State Finals. She so rocks!

I have great plans today. Well, considering the last week they are great plans, not exactly setting the world on fire, but am happy about them.

At 10:18 Blogger vampi said...

oooh, i did solo ensemble too. i still have my ribbons around here somewhere. was this her first time going?

At 10:43 Blogger Jess said...

Me three! Did a woodwind trio one year, and a solo piece the next. What did you play, Vampi?

At 11:36 Blogger vampi said...

viola. i went a few times both solo and in ensembles.

At 13:26 Blogger Fiend-in-law said...

As a (former) cellist, I'm going to be very good now and not tell any of the viola jokes I know.

At 14:03 Blogger vampi said...

lol oh please do:) i chose it because everyone else chose violin, and i would rather be 1 of 5 than 1 of 25.

At 14:34 Blogger Cecily said...

Ooo! Do me! Do me! I'm totally late to the game and filling this out on my cell phone from bed. I am so sick today. Of course it's totallly my own fault. But in my own defence I haven't actually been drunk in some time. And I haven't been this hungover in almost three years.

Should probably mention I'm 31 turning 32 in two months.

Now can someone tell me how to make the bed stop moving?

At 14:34 Blogger LihuaEmilyP said...

Gallium, Cecily - and I think you need a big glass of water & some more sleep.

At 14:57 Blogger Na said...

Sweet! I'm molybdenum. Which offhand I only know as a component of strong-yet-lightweight bike frames, but it's a fun name to say.

Also the answer to life, the universe, and everything, for a few months yet.

Which apparently is old enough that after spending a whole day at the waterpark with monsters, one needs to sleep a long night and take a three-hour nap late the next morning. :P

At 15:16 Blogger Cecily said...

Water has not been my friend this morning. But I am slowly sipping on some coke and that is settling my stomach a lot.
Gallium huh? I can't even think of anything witty to say to that. Yes, more sleep might be needed

also, rock on Maddy!

At 15:31 Blogger Dragonsally said...
