Good Morning, Everyone!

Venus was sort of the Star of this morning, so I tried to get either a Cool or a Cute picture of her. She took off after Stray Kitty, while I was feeding him. (He has a lot of names, they just change all the time) Down the road, thru backyards, she was chasing that evil interloper AWAY. And down I went after them, thru the backyards, down the road, in my nightie, with Magic and Mim screaming like a flock of Banshees.

Interesting way to start the day.

At any rate. No cute pictures of this, tho had someone done video, I'd be a YouTube STAR, so here's a picture of her washing her Butt, with Mim looking on.

It's been a pretty wild ten days, with Evelyn Evelyn tour coming thru, and then the Wootstock folks, delightful people all of them, hope they come back in any combo SOON! I did get a bit behind on things tho, and so am now playing Catch The Heck Up at work. Close, very close...

Our Friend Beez is going to come and help me in my Garden. I think I have finally and effectively explained my gardening style to her, and she has let go of some ideas she was coming into this project with. Likewise, I have learned a little about her Style, and we have met in the middle.

We have reduced it to: NO PLAN Gardens, meets She Who Buys Too Much.

The result ought to be REALLY cool. Or, interesting. Fine line. But I will have a Garden. Like the rest of the people on my block. Who all saw me half naked this morning.

For those of you wanting an update on F1 Magic, who is now OUT of his room full time, he's doing great. That's him with my bra. He goes NUTS for it. Or anything I have worn. He chews, rolls with it, rubs himself on it. It's weird. And funny. Mim loves the shoes. Venus could care less.

And finally: I have a new computer, for traveling. A Dell Notebook. Yes, Windows, PC all of it. SO far it's getting the best of me, but it's only been a day and I feel confident that, in time, we shall be great friends.

As soon as I learn to Obey it without question.

Love and Good Morning,
Lorraine

Good morning to you, too! I love that last picture of Magic with the brassiere! I can't believe the progress he's been making just in the few months I've been hanging around here, it's very cool. It's getting to be a habit, you running through the neighborhood half clothed, isn't it?;)

It's rainy/cloudy here today, and I've decided that it's going to be a good day. I've joined a writer's project, I've been working on one of my design team projects, and I'm feeling quite creative!

OSS, glad your mom's OK. That's rather scary.

Sally, hope your dad is on the mend soon!

At 09:41 Blogger Phiala said...

That is the thing about Windows. Just do what it wants and don't ask why, and you'll be fine.

It sounds like quite an adventure this morning, and actually for the past couple weeks, though that sounds like more fun. (Except for the sick part - are you feeling better?)

I'm swamped. And I want a vacation just so I can get some work done. Is that sad or what? Right now I can't even conceive of a vacation where I did vacation things.

The third picture, of Magic hovering on the cabinets, reminds me of some Peanuts strips when Snoopy was pretending to be a vulture and hovering.

Okay, maybe it's just me.

Magic likes your clothes because they smell just like you! He has really bonded :-)

hahahaha

love this post and pictures.

i needed a laff before i go into the dreded work environment.

if this wasn't the week before we launch a whole new design to the department, i would be taking some sick days, because i'm dying.

You are braver than I for taking on this PC thing. (Also in your running-through-the-neighborhood abilities.) Glad kitties and computer are doing well.

At 10:07 Blogger Cecily said...

I don't know why, cause I don't know Magic, but it fills me with such glee that he is out and about and Mim and Venus.

Speaking of bras, my Westley cat was rolling around and loving and going all crazy over my eldest bra just last night. It's kind weird.

I love my big purple Dell. It's my second laptop and has windows 7, which is both awesome and suckful.

(let's see if I actually get emails this time)

At 10:08 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

That's Mim doing the Vulture thing, not Magic, but that WAS the reference point...So point to you Data.

I thought we might all like to laugh a bit this morning, so I was going for that too.

I am off to work, and then, hopefully, a ride!

cat post! my favourite. :)

Tubby The Magic is looking ever more relaxed. Venus The Freaky Cat gets bonus points for high speed early morning chase.
Mim The PoopWheel Runner is cool and chilled as ever.
Where are the Royals? I miss them!
Hope everyone has a good day or what's left of it. It is raining here. Again. Of course, this being England, raining is what happens pretty much all the time. Sometimes, I think I live in Forks *cough splutter did I just admit to reading Twilight oh my yes I did well what can you do the cat is out of the bag now*

The pictures of magic are so incredible! And running through the garden in your underwear is probably an even better way to wake up than coffee!

OSS - So glad your mom's ok...how scary!

Sally - Owie ribs!! Hope he heals quickly.

I used to be all-PC...computer i mean...now I'm all about the Macs. The sound of hte Windows bootup prrring-y thingy makes me cringe. But they are cheaper and if you don't expect miracles, they work. I don't have a laptop anymore and can't really justify getting one so I've just got my Mac Mini and if I'm traveling I have my G1 phone for email, etc.

OK, i have to go play "light tag" w/ ben and R2D2

I do have to say that I'd entirely forgotten that Windows computers sometimes say, "Hey, I just updated without you knowing, and I'm forcing a restart. You have x minutes before I restart myself. Just thought I'd let you know.

You can always get Ubuntu. I hear it's much better than windows.

Also, Kitty is now out and about, but she is licking both her legs/ paws so they look like ragged, wet, furry sticks. I'm really hoping this will be a good morning.

Thank you for trying to lighten the mood.

At 10:39 Blogger Phiala said...

You can always get Ubuntu. I hear it's much better than windows.

It is. And it runs beautifully on netbooks, is easier to use and better-behaved than Windows, and you no longer have to know anything about linux to use it.

At 10:46 Blogger Jess said...

Well hellooooooo! I woke to a very similar picture this morning. (Cat butt washing, I mean. Not half-naked woman chasing cats down the street.)

You'll get the hang of Windoze. It helps to shut off StickyKeys, which is one of those "helpful" programs that switches certain keys into Bizzare Mode if you hold them down for too long. And before you ask how to shut off StickyKeys: I can't remember. Took me half an hour to find it and switch it off the one time, and I never looked back.

So actually, Windoze sucks. But I like my netbook. It's lightweight and zippy fast!

I miss old school Mac. Remember System 7.5? Now that was an OS. I was a rad phat def Mac Wizard in those days. Now I don't understand Macs at all. They're all graphical and candy-colored and weird, and you can't fiddle with Extensions. What's a Mac without Extensions? Bah.

Yeah on the new travel computer for it means you shall travel!!!

So Magic turns out to be a fetishist.
Ha well. What can I say? He's a boy.

At 12:12 Blogger Marjorie said...

Hee hee! Maybe Venus decided that a little early morning exercise would be good for you both!
And don't they all look lovely.

I'm feeling a bit annoyed because I have a ticket for Bill Bailey's show on Sunday and it doesn't look like I shall be able to go:-( Good thing I have fiends to cheer me up!

I am going to be buying a new comport soon- mine is old and nearly dead. I *want* a mac, but I don't think I can really justify the extra expense. Might compromise with a cheap laptop & an iPhone, instead...

At 12:56 Blogger Uisge said...

Love the first pic. Can almost imagine Mim saying "You missed a spot". I, too, thought of the Snoopy Vulture. And you can't let Magic lose any weight. I recognize him by his pudding belly (okay - and his spots).

I'm getting all new screens today. Old screens are getting replaced with pet resistant ones, to prevent additional 'walkabout' adventures. Can't wait to actually open all of my windows again.

At 13:05 Blogger dabbler said...

Do love those early Snoopy-as-vulture cartoons.

Hm. I have ubuntu. (No, it's not contagious) I like some bits of it, but I am frustrated by other bits, mainly of Open Office, and the fact that I can't seem to get other people to be able to read things word processed thereby. Or spreadsheeted, either. Works great for online stuff...but I miss my old Snood game.... (really stupid game, but good for moments when you want to not think at all.)

Thinking very seriously abut getting a new laptop and ditching the desktop altogether.... except for the having to spend money part.

I think all computers work when you just do what they tell you.

At 13:18 Blogger Phiala said...

Dabbler - I've used OpenOffice exclusively for many years, in a Microsoft-only government lab, and only very very rarely have any problems.

Email me if you want advice!

At 13:25 Anonymous Wendy Withers said...

I think if I had to get a desktop computer I would get a macmini. They're around $500, and then you just get a monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse. I would have to look at moving my OS, etc. over from the disks I already have...

At 13:42 Blogger Jess said...

Okay, people: but what about vacuum cleaners? I have had it with mine. I should not have to spend an hour dissassembling and cleaning my vacuum just to use my vacuum. You want to know know how many filters are on this monster I've got? How many parts to each filter, and how many screws you have to unscrew to get at all of them? How many more screws just to check the belts and the roller brush?

I don't know. I didn't count. But I shouldn't need a shower after I use my vacuum. Let's put it that way.

I hate this thing. The Hoover Windtunnel is a stain on human dignity. It's an insult to people who use vacuums. Hell, it's an insult to people who don't use them. Used to have a Samsung. Think I might go back.

One day the Roomba will run on Linux and Ubuntu, and then no one will have to do anything other than say, "go sweep over there." And it would.

At 13:43 Blogger Unknown said...

Funny, I've always suspected and feared that someday I'd open the front door to get the paper, my indoor Maine Coon boy would shoot out, and I'd end up running down my block in nothing but my (old, holey) bathrobe. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't!

At 14:07 Anonymous Wendy Withers said...

I know nothing about vacuum cleaners. I bought a cheap-o $40 Dirt Devil. So far it picks up an army of cats' worth of cat hair and gross, black, sludgy dust every time I vacuum. I have not enough money and too many dreams to buy an expensive vacuum.

My mom likes Kirbys. Kirbys that were made in the 50s out of lead and aspestos and are like giant vacuum cleaner tanks rolling around the house. (Kirbys being made of lead and aspestos is a conclusion I came to with no real-world research.)

At 14:13 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

My Vacuum is called a "Simplicity"

For a VERY good reason.

At 14:18 Blogger Precision Grace said...

Oh I could go on an on about vacuum woes. They are always have and awkward and break down.

At 15:11 Blogger Marjorie said...

I have a Dyson. Not the cheapest, but VERY good. I have found them to have excellent customer service, too. And they do a very good pet-hair brush.

At 16:21 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Good pet hair pick up is the most essential thing in a vacuum cleaner. Oh yes.

Loving the puddy tat photos, Magic always makes me feel goey inside.

breakfast!

I felt awesome when I got my Dell Inspiron Mini. Pure leetle blue awesomeness right there ... no matter how much I hate the Windows Seven commercials.

At 17:35 Blogger LihuaEmilyP said...

Also, allow me to admit the pictures are not showing up on this library screen ... so more comments on them later ...

At 17:46 Blogger Jane said...

Great cat pix. And the morning chase, nothing like it!

As for vacuums, I have a Roomba, an Oreck and a Dirt Devil. The combination works, but I need them all!

At 17:51 Blogger Cecily said...

My daughter has a mac mini, and none of us can stand the thing.

On vacuums, I vote Dyson. Yes expensive, but sooo worth it. I have had a lot of different vacuums and the Dyson is by FAR my favorite. My dad used to sell Eluctrolux door to door. He burned out a many Hoovers whose owners insisted they were the best vacuum ever. So he would, with their permission, and a warning, set them up to suck against each other. The Hoovers always broke. But I still say Dyson.

At 18:33 Blogger LihuaEmilyP said...

Jack likes the Dyson ad, as it is EXPLODING with innuendo.

At 18:34 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I am getting the hang of it now, and I am good with it. I just need something for traveling, that will give me internet, and is small to carry. Works for me.

I got a Dyson when I moved here, or rather Merryhousekeeper bought it for me but excuse me, one needs a degree ot work it.

Mine is so simple even I can do it. VERY simple.

(tho Spooky Cleaning Teen brings her own Dyson to clean lol)

Finished cooking steak, now to walk me some bengals..

At 20:20 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

So, I leave for an hour to hot tub and you all flee? Lurking in the bushes were you???

At 20:22 Blogger Chantrelle said...

I'm here!

Chicken's in the oven. Kid's watchign Ben 10. Crazy day. Ben had play practice. 200 kids, most in costume for dress rehearsal, doing a full run of the play. 40 or more are 6 or under and totally CRAZY!!

Phew.

At 21:25 Blogger One Sock Short said...

Those are some excellent cat pics. Magic and the Bra of Comfort is so very, very cute. I had to board Phoebe for a few days when we first moved here, so I left a shirt I had worn for the vet to put in with her. It does seem to help.

What is this play with the massive cast, Chantrelle?

I was hosting my little writing group tonight because we couldn't get a room reserved at the library. Me, hosting people in my house! That never happens. There were cookies and everything.

Might host a writing retreat some weekend soon, like El and Aleta do. That'll be fun.

Mr. Jess won't let us buy a Dyson, becuase they moved their manufacturing arm from the UK to Malaysia. He's very grumpy about that.

I would have a much simpler, lighter vacuum had I bought it myself. This one was a Christmas present from my folks. I think I've had it sufficiently long enough that they won't be insulted if I get rid pf it a buy something else.

At 22:03 Blogger Unknown said...

And you said (way back when) that Magic would never integrate with the rest of the house!

I'm looking forward to the eventual Bengal Pile photo of Venus, Mim, Magic, Lear and Mab all sleeping together in a big Bengal heap, even if it takes another year or two to get there.

At 22:15 Blogger Ticia said...

Linda and Sally: I hope your parents are both recovering.

Lorraine: I love the kitty pictures. The bra one especially. Well, not the picture itself. The fact that Magic is so happy is what makes me smile.

I went to a yoga class tonight. Fun. I shall go again next week.

At 03:44 Blogger Dragonsally said...

I'm excited. Why, you ask?

We just had a huge flock of about 50 bats fly over our place, magnificent site.
Hopefully some of them will come back to our lilly pilly tree by the back door and I can get a photo of them.

At 07:28 Blogger dabbler said...

OOOH! I love bats. And here in the states they're under assault by a nasty fungus. Hope you get (got) your pictures, Sally.

At 07:52 Blogger Jane said...

Jess, the Oreck is a light and simple vacuum, weighs about 8 lbs.

Ticia, yoga? Fantastic! One of the best things I've ever done for myself is to take that first yoga class. Not only for the physical but also the mental aspect. When the only thing in the world is you and your mat and the instructor...hard to be distracted by the rest of the world. Mind you, that didn't happen immediately for me, but it didn't take long.

Bats are great...

At 07:53 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I never did think Magic could integrate. Boss was the only one who did. He was right. He generally IS.

You always make me laugh Sally, I forget you are half a world away, and it might well be night for you now!

I have a lot of work today. I know, do most days, but it's a little daunting on my first cup of tea, this inbox.

At 08:39 Blogger Phiala said...

G'morning everyone.

I'm at work, I have coffee (went to the roastery this morning, so I have the best possible coffee), I have Things to Do.

And the sun is shining.

Augghhh! I found out today that a check that was written TO me was written wrong and bounced, and thus my rent bounced. Fortunately, I had my proof that it wasn't my fault and I won't have to pay any late or check bouncing fees when I sort everything out.

At 14:39 Blogger AletaMay said...

Odd coupla weeks for me. I seem to lack focus even more than usual!

Great photos. I am so so happy that Magic is out and with the girls. I hope that Mim's peeing issues can be worked out. Poor little one and poor Q. Getting peed on is no fun.
