Happy New Year!!!!

Happy New Year!!!

It's the time of year when everyone does the Here's My Resolutions or What I Want For The Year blogs, so.....

I know what I want, so let's just talk about it for a bit. I've been watching a lot of tv the last couple of days huddling with cramps on the couch (why am I telling you this????) and I've been seeing a lot of handy commercials. A lot of un-handy ones too, I'm very tempted to order a few of the Well Being Energy Bracelets, if only because I want to see these things and ponder exactly what sort of person buys into this.

They "Align to your bodies biofield technology" That's an actual quote. Giving one endless vitality and energy.

There's also a new pill out there that will REMOVE BODY FAT. Body Fat you see, is the problem, and if you simply eat right and workout, you WILL NOT LOSE BODY FAT! This pill however, dissolves it. How handy. Clearly, I've been going about this wrong.

Enough with the Un-handy ones tho, I saw something I know is going to change my life.

It's a well, a mop. And a Broom. I know, we've talked about this and how I have a total of SIX mops hanging lonely in my mop area, but this one sweeps and mops by ITSELF!

Kid you not. Turn the thing on when you leave, so goes the commercial, and come home to nice clean floors. The heck with that, I am buying one and running it each morning and watching it go to it whilst drinking my coffee. Don't want to miss a second of it.

It will probably do a far better job that I do too, at it. (Not hard, I am the worst housekeeper on the planet. Neat, but hopeless at cleaning)

AND I am thinking when I do leave, I can tie Mousies to it and it can drag about and entertain the Bengals while I am gone. It's perfect on so many levals. There is also a Remote Control Vacuum, Google tells me. My Spooky House is going to get seriously fun.

As for the rest of it, you know what I want, we've talked about it. I want to be FIT, in another month, it will be six months on my Plan. I'm happy about some things, and not so happy about others. It really does take a long time. It's slow going. I'm miles ahead of where I was. I ride better, I skate now, I go to the gym every day, I eat a lot better.

Mostly. I can do 20 crunches with no one holding my feet now. I can pissage during warmups riding. (If you don't know what Pissage is, no worries, it's a Dressage Thing, but if you're having trouble with Crunches you might want to re-think your own FIT)

I'm FITT-ER. But not yet FIT.

I want to do my Job, and love my Friends. Write more. Save more Bengals.

My Remote Control Mop/Sweeper/Vacuum Device will help all this.

It said so in the commercials.

Love and Happy New Years,
Lorraine

Happy New Year to you, too.

Beware the fat melty pills. It could be the Adipose back to use us as a nursery planet again.

I think I want a magic mop, too.

And the fit? So impressive :-)

At 11:12 Blogger Cecily said...

I beg you to not get the iRenew. For the main reason that they are a scam group that sells your credit card information to other scam companies. I know this because we bought Fushigi Balls for our youngest and then I started getting the calls..."Hi i just need you to confirm your information and we'll send you order on it's way." "I didn't order that." "Of course you did I have the order right here!" "Nope, didn't order it. Go away now." ...iRenew was the first of the companies to call...

As for FIT, slow and steady wins the race, or in this case...make the ass even nicer!

I don't know which mop/broom thing you are talking about, but I own two Roombas and they are AWESEOME. A Scumba (the mop one) might be in my future.

Love and FIT,
~Ceci

I had a Scooba, and it was wonderful, until it died. That was a few years ago, though - the battery packs may be better now.

My pursuit of The Fit continues, despite some holiday setbacks. I haven't lost much weight, but I am a different shape. I've gotten lazy about lifting, though, and must improve. Cardio alone will not get me where I want to go.

At 11:17 Blogger Phiala said...

I'm in the process of sorting through goals for this year. Biggest goal: less craziness, more focus.

We'll see.

At 11:18 Blogger DataGoddess said...

FIT is not a destination, IMO, it's a journey that never ends. There's a site I've joined with some fiber people, called healthmonth.com, where you set your own goals and get points to work towards them.

My goals are fitness related, not weight loss related. And some mental health in there too, like putting down the laptop and reading and knitting.

At 11:19 Blogger Phiala said...

Oh and, I really really hope you mean passage. I know we don't worry too much about spelling around here, but just this once...

At 11:24 Blogger Marjorie said...

Phiala, maybe the other is needed too, in preparation for the bouncy trotty bits of the dressage?

At 11:27 Blogger Phiala said...

I suspect so, Marjorie, but that's not really what we want people finding the Empress's blog for, is it?

Not that it would take them long to realize their mistake, of course.

At 11:29 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

OOPS!! Who knew this???? Darn weird French words anyway.

At 11:40 Blogger Jess said...

Careful! Rule 34!! Rule 34!!

Ah, you're doing well, Medeadly. Here's to bright new things.

I need a new challenge this year. Dunno what yet. Something not DIY-related.

Well personally I've begun this third day of 2011 by being jetlagged and skipping the yoga for the second day in a row. Back on it tomorrow; I'm too whacked out today. Loving it on the whole, though. It's nice to be able to get up and down off the floor without groaning and going crack. And that's after what, only a month? Result!

At 12:02 Anonymous Wendy Withers said...

My resolution this year is to start wearing hats. Hats are awesome.

I would like to write more + submit more stuff for publication, which I have already started doing.

I would like to come up with a FIT routine. Still working on that. I need someone to kick my butt. Someone needs to design Quiche software that I can upload to my computer so I will become organized and proactive about things.

At 12:13 Blogger Beez said...

You are a strange and wonderful woman there Q. Only YOU would have a life-changing mop...if it survives the leopards.

Funnier than hell to watch though in the meantime.

I plan on "Eat Food. Not Too much. Mostly Plants".

Thank you Michael Pollan. I love clear and concise.

At 12:18 Blogger AletaMay said...

Great post Q!

I think for me it is all a journey. For me the notion that I ever "arrive" at my goals gets in my way. Complicated to describe but I really make the most progress when I focus on what I am going to DO today rather than on where I'll end up. BUT everyone is different and that is a beautiful thing.

I want a magic mop but I don't think it is powerful enough for the mess that is my housekeeping! Getting my house back in order is high on the list this year. It is all connected for me -- order, activity level, producing the things I want to produce, doing the things I want/need to do.

Happy New Year to all Fiends Everywhere!

At 12:27 Anonymous Morrica said...

If it says so in the commercials it has to be true!

At 12:38 Blogger spacedlaw said...

The Bengals would have so much fun with those robots. Or not.

At 12:53 Blogger Vinity said...

I figured you guys had worked up another word for what we call *soft* piaffe or *soft* passage. Pissage works for that.

I'm with you on the fit. I'm hanging upside down more to see if that helps my back. I'm trying to ride Vin more. Officially she's 20 now *sob!!* {birthday is July 7th tho} and she's still best horse ever!!! Two a day is really hard on my back. Lance has improved a lot this last bit. Tanking less. It's really all about the lateral work being 100% every single time. No settling for less.

At 12:54 Blogger Vinity said...

Oh and I think I need that mop also.

At 16:12 Blogger Beez said...

Oh Hurrah!

Boss and AFP got married last night!

Pass on my best wishes and congrats to them!

At 16:13 Blogger Jane said...

I have a Roomba and the cats gang up on it - it does clean under the bed really well :-)

New Year's Resolutions are the same as they have been for several years, the main one being to listen to my intuition, to really pay attention to what it's trying to tell me.

Also to make sure that anyone I come into contact with during the day is not worsened by that contact and even possibly improved! You would not think that one could be so hard but for me it is.

And then to remember that loving and being loved is beneficial to one's health and mental well-being. So the people I love, I let them know. And I pay attention to where I find love, too.

And there are a couple more, but these are the ones!

I did wonder what pissage was but chalked it up to dressage ignorance on my part...

At 16:28 Blogger Marjorie said...

Just saw the Twitter!

What lovely, happy news.
Do pass on Fiendish Congratulations to Neil & Amanda.

At 16:31 Blogger Jane said...

Just saw the news! Pass on congratulations!

At 16:33 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Thanks all! It was hard to write about Mops and such this morning when all I was thinking was MY BOSS GOT MARRIED LAST NIGHT!

Of course, they still think New Orleans was the real wedding, this was just for legal. They do certainly seem to be rather in love!

At 16:33 Blogger Cecily said...

Definite Fiendish Joy and Love to the newlyweds. Their love has always brought me great joy, as with all great love that I get the honor to witness.

At 16:35 Blogger Beez said...

NOLA was the real one- the one of their heart.

And YOU! MOPS! *fwap*

At 16:39 Blogger Dragonsally said...

People will believe what they want, eh. There has to be an easy way for everything, eh!

Toni - I'm on HealthMonth too, just joined in December...we have a spoonies group going this month!

Marjorie, I thought the same thing with those felt melting pills.

I am having a The Vampire Diaries (the tv show) marathon at the moment. Oh. My. God. I am loving it so much, even though its so different from the books.

Congrats to the newly weds. Great way to start a wonderful year!

At 17:03 Anonymous Wendy Withers said...

I also love the Vampire Diaries, though I have never read the books. It is my guilty pleasure, but right now my computer does not want to play nice with the online CW TV player. :(

It appears that, for once, Serious Black has won for dominance over my lap. Kitty is in the corner licking at her bruised ego wounds.

At 17:28 Blogger LihuaEmily said...

A very Happy New Year, Lorraine!

At 17:44 Blogger ariandalen said...

Mops.
Well, I guess you had to write about something incredibly mundane in order not to explode. ;)

Seems like 2011 has started with a bang! Neil and Amanda married. Nathalie signs a contract for fiction she wrote, and Ticia will have two stories published this year. Another Fiend had good news the first day of the new year, but my brain is failing me on who and why.

::sigh:: I hope the rest of the year to my 50th won't be as forgetful!

At 18:06 Blogger Dragonsally said...

That would have been Wendy and her teaching job.

Lets hope the year keeps up all these good things for our Fiends.

At 18:36 Anonymous Wendy Withers said...

I also have cats. Any New Year started with cats is a good year.

At 18:48 Blogger Cecily said...

So that's why all that time with my ex was so crappy...he didn't let me have cats!

At 18:52 Anonymous Wendy Withers said...

I'd take my cats over my exes any day of the week!

At 20:46 Blogger ariandalen said...

Thank you, Sally! Wendy's job teaching English is what I was missing!

Gee, can you tell the girls have been out of school for a week and a half so far. ::rolling eyes::

At 01:32 Blogger Pi R Squared said...

Happy new Year Lorraine and all you Fiends out there!

Great post. I don't make resolutions though. The FIT thing I am coming to believe more and more is about getting my head into shape...about being in a mind-space that allows all the other things to fall into place...not a magic mop (tho- boy howdy, could I use one of those!)or a fat burning pill but a place of strength inside I usually ignore in order to be petty and negative.

For me, to achieve FIT is to harness and honor my inner artist faithfully...watching the diet, exercising...these are important and part of the path, but really honoring creativity can only help pull it all together.

Had my knee surgery and look forward to physical therapy and long walks again in the near future.

Congrats to Neil and Amanda!

May everyone's new year bring the things they desire and need!

Beez Fwap-ed me over my MOP Plan??? I'll fwap her, I will!

Ack! Cold dark freezing sleepy!!!!!

I love everything about early morning rides except the getting up part.

Venus decided it was not FISH day and is walking around mournfully mewing. Look, all I have is fish this morning. You like fish. Eat the nice fish and shut UP!

You could do what my mom used to do with her cat and open different tins of Fancy Feast until you find what Venus does wants to eat. You do know who's in charge, don't you?!?!

At 12:54 Blogger Kitty Cat said...

I am going to set up the Netflix feed for you when I come next, never a need for commercials again!
they really "fwap" me, to quoth our Beezus.
and Marjorie, i want you to write a whole story on the nursery planet--i like the thought.

meanwhile recycling men are digging through our treasurefull trash cans for the endless amounts of glass bottles from our blow out NYE party. By 4:30 I made Drew clear the treehouse, and when i poked my head out of the bedroom, I didn't know any of the left over stragglers--all our real friends had gone, and Drew was entertaining a batch of friendly drunken wanderers. ay! men! Selina Kyle came in and curled on me for safety. Batman for some reason was out sitting with the revellers.
my FIT and darling Quiche, you are a terrific secret keeper, my phone was ringing off the hook that morning and i said, hmmm, wonder what's up! Boss is the very happiest Boss i have ever seen.
This is going to be a terrific year, much love to all!

Fit? Does struggling to keep your eyes open count? It's really hard work.

At 14:49 Blogger Marjorie said...

With such a wonderful beginning, we are going to have to make this year pretty amazing, to keep up!

I would love to write that story, Kitty, but sadly the nice Mr Russell T Davies got there first, and it's his idea :-)

At 17:34 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Off to the gym, zumba and one on one training, both with Little Evil. This is SO going to tame these cramps, take that will you!!!!!

If I have any energy after I will no doubt deal with Smarty Pants Beez...

At 18:29 Blogger Dragonsally said...

Uh oh. Beez, you'd better hide. Or armor up.

At 19:02 Blogger Beez said...

Eh, I am fast, and when I'm not fast I am stealthy.

And I drink lots of COFFEE!

(besides, Fearless Leader always knocks herself on her FINE ASS at the gym. There will be no spare energy).

At 19:06 Blogger Jess said...

Stealthypants is a good name for...something. Beez. It's a good name for Beez. Let's call her that from now on.

At 19:35 Blogger Beez said...

Jess, are you hitting the cider now? Or painkillers?

Both...

Stealthypants. Huh.

Kind of like that.

At 19:48 Blogger Jess said...

Well she said smarty pants and you said stealthy and well I mean these things happen don't they. Hey, I'm severely jetlagged. Get off my case, man.

How long are you planning on using the "jetlagged" excuse?

What a happy start to 2011. I finally broke down and bought a days worth of internet access in my hotel room. Trekking down to the lobby everytime I wanted to check my email was getting old.

My phone found wi-fi long enough for me to get the wedding news on my phone yesterday. Joy!! I love how happy boss always looks when with or talking about AFP. It warms my heart to no end.

We have a few days of Sydney left. *sigh* It's so great here. Insanely expensive but lovely!

At 21:55 Blogger Chantrelle said...

At 09:00 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Off to see Little Evil again this morning. With this new gym schedule, I now get to spend 4 days a week with her. Sometimes 5.

Why, Hello Really Fit!!!!!

It's hard, working with her, but I need a trainer who goes full on. If they expect less, that's what they get, I slide in the other classes, except for maybe Turbo with Amy.

May do Zumba lite tonight tho too, work is intense this week, and it's good at the end of the day to wind down and relax.

Beez will likely be safe for some time.

At 10:48 Blogger Beez said...

I knew that.

Well, I can't be un-dead just now, or even dead, no matter how I feel. I'm too hungry.

Am attempting to cook dinner. Fake meat, salsa, brown rice, and beans. With a sprinkle of fat free cheese.

Darn, I'm healthy.

Am seriously considering just how long rice really needs to cook anyway.

And no, no idea what the fake meat IS, it looks like hamburger tho.

Just trying to disentangle myself from the cat so I can go to work. Might be too difficult.

At 07:02 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I know what Morgan wants, I just can't it to him. Should have gone already.

At 07:08 Anonymous Wendy Withers said...

I am up! I am going to the airport! Although, from what's going on on my friends' FBs, I might be flying into bad Florida weather. :(

Florida is poopy. I can't wait to get back home.

At 07:42 Blogger One Sock Short said...

I am also cat-entangled at the moment, as I give Phoebe the last bit of lap time before heading to the airport as well. Safe and hassle-free travels, Wendy!

Then it's off to San Diego for ALA, where I will not get to see Boss.Too much work-related stuff going on at the same time. So once again, so close yet so far away.

Trying to summon up some enthusiasm for this conference...

At 11:18 Blogger Ms T said...

Well here the cat has been fed and has stalked off to bed. (Eating is so exhausting.) And I'm debating the wisdom of putting the washing outside when it seems to be blowing a gale. On the plus side, it should get dry. On the minus side, goodness only know where it will end up.

At 12:29 Blogger Marjorie said...

I was at work, O Fearless Leader.
I am cold, but home, now.

Since my washing machine got fixed yesterday I may even do some laundry. Such an exciting life!

On the other hand, a Mystery Benefactor sent me Vol. 1 of Absolute Sandman. No idea who. Genuinely, no idea. I thought maybe a belated Christmas gift from my brother but he says not.
As mysteries go, it's not a bad one to have, but you'd think if someone was going to spend £50+ on me they'd say who they were.

At 12:55 Blogger Jess said...

Someone has a secret admirer! Or a stalker. It's such a fine line.

I gots a cat, here. She is asleep. Today she wants to sit her front paws right on my lap, where the laptop is, all the time. Think she missed us. The other one has been following me around for days going Meow. Thinking a Feliway plugin might be in order for when we're away. Even when there's someone here. Apparently that doesn't work.

At 13:10 Blogger spacedlaw said...

Leave some dirty laundry they can lay one, Jess.

At 13:32 Blogger EmilyOliveP said...

(when one canters, if to the left, the left legs of the horse lead, if to the right, the right ones, if you are going straight, the horse can sort of hop and change leads while cantering, if you tell him right)

very cool stuff, trust me.

Here: 30 seconds of flying lead changes:
