The Saga Continues. But Boss WILL Fly Today...

Here's the Updated Breaking News on the Getting Boss to the UK Saga...(And a Lovely Picture of Bengal Venus in case you aren't into travel)

We have decided against the Private Jet, as yesterday afternoon, UK airspace cleared. Boss already had a ticket departing today (And I am holding one for tomorrow JUST IN CASE) The problem I saw was that if airspace hadn't cleared, for today and tomorrow, he would have had his flights canceled, and been put on the next available flight to the UK.

Which would have been next week sometime. Flights were sold out until then.

The private jet would have taken off 6 hours after air space cleared.

You have to think this way in Assistanting World. It's like playing a game (Heck, SEVERAL games at once) of 3D Chess. You have to look ahead and see every possibility. See where every "What if?" could possibly go. And have a Plan for that.

He flies today.

Had a moment of complete disbelief this morning when I went to check him in for his flight and it wouldn't go thru. This would be because "Business Class taxes had not been paid and the UK now charges them"

I have been on the phone with, yes, I will mention the name, thank you, DELTA, 7-8 times a day since the dear little Volcano erupted. This MIGHT have been mentioned at some point.

Not. Funny.

Smelling a Very Large Rat here.

Oh, you can believe this has been dealt with.

He flies today.

You see, we (Us Assistant types) never sleep.

(Always wanted to say that)

(And if we do it's with Blackberry. Not a French Speaking Law Enforcement Officer who also happens to do Roller Derby)

(Hey, just thought I would throw that out there....You never know.)

Love and Airlines,
Lorraine

You are amazing. Fabulous even!!

Yes, truly amazing.

But... multilingual roller derby cop? Not too specific, are you? *grin*

Good sleeping, it sounds like :-)

Airlines - hard at best. How many other services do we buy that are so difficult? Price is a moving target, availability of seats seems to be at someone's whim, on-time is a myth, etc etc. I don't mind the actual flying part, but the rest? Hate it.

Enough of vent. And I rarely deal with them.

I really don't know how you do it. It usually takes me one unhelpful phonecall to give up on all other work and start planning mass world destruction.

That pic of Venus slays me. Definitely prefer cats to Boss wrangling. Sorry, it's true, can't help it.

Hurrah for the Flying Boss, and for Assistnat's who never sleep. (And that picture of Venus is gorgeous)

Will continue to think hopeful & non-ashy thoughts at the skies.

Meanwhile, it seems that Adri will be stuck in london until Sunday, which is bad news for her, but good news for me as hopefully we shall be able to do a mini fiend-meet as I shall be in London for the AFP show on Saturday night (sadly it's sold out, so unless new tickets get released don't think Adri will be able to join me for that..)

Any other UK fiends going to be there?

Kick-Arse Lorraine, the Fabulous, strikes again!

Marjorie, can't help with tickets for Saturday, even guest list is jammed, but there are tickets for tomorrow nights show available still to buy, and I know the hall is big and they are really trying to fill it..

Can you tell Adri? Go twice. Not like it's going to suck...

(Boss will be there too, just saying)

I'd offer to come along to the gig tomorrow but am at home with a godawfulcold. Have been sent back from work and told to cease and desist spreading my germs around. A bit rich seen as I've picked it up from another person at work..

Heard an interesting report on BBC yesterday about how this has been a reminder that our world is actually really huge even though we've made it so much smaller with air travel and the internet. Silly volcano rocked everyone's world just to remind them who rules this big rock we live on! Not us....well, maybe Lorraine....but not us mortals.

Hang on. When did Adri go to London? What cave have I been living in? Hi, Adri! Hi Marjorie! Have fun, you two, whatever you do. AND DOCUMENT IT WITH DETAILED PHOTOS.

Just nobody fly into the ash cloud! That's all I'm saying. My in-laws are supposed to come out this way next month. I hope this isn't still going on then. Though I see they're saying Iceland's entered an active geological phase and the volcano could keep spewing for another 40-80 years.

I say the solution is SEA TUNNELS. Where's Dan? Somebody get him on it.

Oh look, I forgot to box the ticks. There's an excuse to pimp The Night Garden Project link some more, given my comment at the end of the last thread probably went completely unnoticed. Look what everyone did! And it's not over yet! The Night Garden Project needs YOU! Click click click clicky click!

I'd go tomorrow as well like a shot, but sadly getting to London on a work night isn't do-able..
(I wasn't fishing for guestlist, Q, just I know in Dublin the gig went from all seater to standing & freed up new tickets!)

At 12:43 Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Oh, I knew you weren't Marjorie, just wanted you to know if i could have helped I would have, that one Saturday is tight tho..

I am not sure tho that I understand your priorities about London and a work night. Surely Boss and AFP are far cooler than work? You can't MISS that for , uh, work surely?

The Gods gave us sick days for a REASON....

At 12:53 Blogger Marjorie said...

Get thee behind me, Q! I agree that Boss & AFP are much more important than mere work, I just don't think that the client I am supposed to be representing in court would agree, or the Judge.they can be so unreasonable that way!

Thanks for the much needed chuckle. Love that picture of Venus.

Looks like Venus about to split her sides. Who is she laughing at? Or is it Bengal humor and we wouldn't understand anyway?

Funny, Sally :-) I'm sure that will happen.

Hoorah to you, Q, for your plane booking skills!

My corporate travel agency has been AMAZING (I think I have been on the phone to them every day for the last, oh, what is it, 9 days?) and have held flights and changed flights and turned flights upside down so as I'm on the first nonstop back to SFO on Saturday. (Since I was here anyway, I booked meetings through the whole week.)

Adri, stuck in London, which is not the worst thing on the planet, for sure.

At 10:50 Blogger EmilyLady said...

Sounds ahm. Fun. Kudos, though.

At 12:11 Blogger Jess said...

Hee hee, Vampi! I like the guy with the lint roller.

Hey, it's Adri! Have fun. At least you're stuck in the city, and not the airport! :)

tick, sigh, just tick

At 13:30 Blogger vampi said...

< dreamy sigh>i wish i was stuck in london.

granted I'm sure there are things that do suck, like the expenses and being away form home longer than expected. london is the city i want to eventually end up in, so in my imaginary world, being stranded there sounds wonderful. i heard a lot of the airlines were being horrible to stranded people, not honoring travel insurance and such. i was also hearing that the closure was questionable and possibly an over reaction that cost bijillions.

i do hope all stranded people make their ways to their intended destinations quickly and with much further difficulty.

is airline herding going much better today quiche?

Hi Vampi,
That commercial was done by the company Mr. Lincoln works for. It's one of their best.

At 15:12 Blogger vampi said...

At 15:48 Blogger Jess said...
