All ABout The Bengals

I've been working a lot this past couple of weeks, and not home as much as usual, which is fine, I am here enough, and well within reasonable cat care and attention, but it must be admitted, these ARE Bengals, who do demand a bit more, at times.

Thought I might appease them and do a quick post Thanksgiving Bengal post.

Welcome to life with Bengals.

More videos of the Royals, by Cat Mihos, shot last week while she was here.

One of my poster frames fell about off the wall, most of it anyway, which is fine, except it has apparently traumatized Luka to the point where he is NEVER going down the stairs again AND he will not eat.

This is huge. As is Luka.

Mab is lovely and sweet as ever. The little darling has shredded her Purr Mat I got her, and put in her favorite place to sleep, by the heat vent. Purr Mats expand when shredded. She has made a lovely Nest of the thing. She looks out from it. I am thinking of buying her a second so she can make a proper cave.

Venus is still guarding the piano for all she is worth, if it HAS to be here, it is going to be HERS. If truth must be spoken, she is getting to be quite a good player. Much better than me.

Mim is sitting on my shoes in an ecstasy of worship. Mim has a Thing about shoes. Anyone's, not just mine. Shoes are the BEST. I can kind of understand that, I like shoes myself. Mim does not, however, wear shoes, so it is a little puzzling.

Magic seems to feel the need to catch me up at length on his life in the last 12 hours since I have been here. Loudly. Don't quite get it all but apparently it was eventful.

If I had remembered to bring Camera home, this post would no doubt have a lot more lovely photos, but alas, the best laid plans of Mousies and Me, often go awry. (especially for Mousies here in this house. We can call it #MousiewinterhomeFAIL.)

And anyway, high time I got back to work...

Hope you day is as full of adventures as mine.

I love these guys.

Taking Back YOUR Holidays....

Hello and Happy Day to everyone, no matter where in the world you might be!

A lot of things have been going around in my head lately with the Holidays coming up, and even tho I am barely into my first cup of tea, I wanted to try and get them down.

Maddy and I are spending the day in a Movie Marathon and making pizza by and by, from scratch of course, and eating some really strange cupcakes. (I am home with the Bengals for an hour, I don't have them here, I can't shoot them. Later. I will Twitpic them and Speedy Jess can link them for you)

Yup. I can hear the shrieks. "No, you can't have PIZZA!" "Don't you have anywhere to BE?" "You could come here"

Yes, we DO have somewhere to be, and we are having exactly the really great meal that we want to.

We've been invited to dozens of places. And yes, Maddy had the option of traveling with either of her parents. She didn't want to travel, and we didn't want to go anywhere.

Isn't that kind of what the Holidays should be about? What you WANT to do?

I hear a lot of "We have to..." in connection with the Holidays. We have to go here, do this, buy this, eat this....Because, what? You HAVE to? Who decides this? And what is UP with this needing to BE somewhere for the Holiday because if you are not you will be depressed? huh?

A day where I don't HAVE to do anything, a day at home, watching whatever, eating whatever, with no one wanting anything from me is NOT something I tend to get real sad about. Trust me.

We've been bombarded with Xmas music since October. Wallmart takes DOWN the Halloween things a few days before Halloween and put up the Xmas things. People have gone nuts getting up at 5:00am for Black Friday sales.

People, those sales are available all year round. It's a media event. Think about it, the media also tells us that a size 6 women is a plus sized model.

You HAVE to decorate your house a certain way, you HAVE to buy for people, you HAVE to send cards.

Do you ever hear yourself saying "I get so stressed and worn out, there is so much I HAVE to do" "I get really depressed at the Holidays" or "I feel so guilty if I don't.."

Get over it. No one can make you feel anything, you are the one taking that on.

If you find yourself saying this season "I/we don't want to go...., but we have to" Stop one second. If you don't want to, don't. Take back the YOU. What DO you want to do? Is your family going to be, whatever, if you don't do something? Well, get this, they need to take you as you. If you don't want to, don't.

It's like what I always found works with kids. You don't say NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT,(wear that, have that) Offer them a positive alternative.

It's not about being selfish. The opposite in fact. Don't overload the lifeboat, if you do, everybody drowns.

Hate going into debt? Well, everything is WAY on sale in January. Don't buy something for someone just because you HAVE to. Ask them what would be cool. Going out to eat the next month together? Do they have a cause they support you could give a little something to (Fivers add UP people) Can you write them an e-mail saying, "I really hate all the crap that goes on this time of year, but wanted you to know how cool you are" (I'd phrase that better tho)

Get on the travel sites e-mail lists. You can put in the city of your choice and they will send you an e-mail telling you when the fare drops to what you want to spend, then grab it and tell your family you are coming for the weekend. Same with hotels. Make it something FUN, not an ordeal. Meet somewhere you all want to be.

Today isn't the day to be thankful for what you have. You should be waking up EVERY day thinking about that. Xmas is not the day you show the people you love how much you care abut them. You should be doing that EVERY day. All the time. And not by buying them something they don't need.

Have the Holiday when you want it. You don't HAVE to have it on a specific day. Make it work for you, and for Fod's sake do what you WANT to do. What makes you happy.

If you are feeling guilty about that, think real hard, you have some work to do.

Learn from your cats. Or your dog. Or kids. They wake up every day ready for wonderful things.

They do what they want to.

No more Have to this year.

My, and I Mean MY Illicit Affair....

You never know what's going to happen in a day. And today, my Boss left for the Holiday, and I had most of the day off. So I went to Breakfast. Went for a long ride. Went to lunch. Came back to the stables and bought a Horse of my Own.

These things happen.

I hadn't PLANNED on that. I lease a horse, and that had always seemed fine to me. Why bother buying one? But then, this Illicit Affair came along. I wrote about him a while back. There is something really special about him. I don't know. Horses were horses before.

He talked to me. I fell in love.

My trainer Melissa owned him. She knew how I felt about him. She knew (As I didn't) how much I really needed my own horse. She saw us together. She listened to me go on about him, his potential, his love. She laughed when I came up with him today, instead of my lease horse Anna Montana, just to hang with him and brush him and make him pretty. Melissa KNEW he was my horse. (I've known her over 10 years now and I think she has been biding her time, she knew it would happen)

I've been wanting my own horse since I was four. Badly. Didn't think I would ever have one. Melissa and I talked. Talked about expenses, board, what happens if I start to ride him in a month or so, and we don't work together, what happens six months from now if it doesn't work for me, owning my own horse.

It works. I still think of it as a joint venture, between me, her and Illicit Affair. Couldn't do it without her, when I say she has made me VERY HAPPY that does not beging to cover it.

His back was hurt some months ago, but is better now. He is still underweight, and needs training and work. He's only four. Pure Arab too. I won't be riding him for another month or six weeks, at least. I want to be sure he's ok.

For the moment tho, I own a horse. For the first time. There's something about a dream you've carried your entire life coming true that is so overwhelming. I cried all the way home. I can say My Horse.

I think, really think, that when the Universe speaks, you need to listen. You can see where you need to go if you are very quiet and listen, and what you need will be there and come to you, if you do. Very often, it is right there in front of you, and you realize you have been there the entire time.

This is so right.

Love and Illicit Affair,

Starring, for the first time: MAGIC!!!!!!

First EVER Video of Magic. For those who are here for the first time, Magic is an F1 Bengal, which means his Daddy was an Asian Leopard Cat. He was bounced from home to home for BEING an early generation Bengal, and finally ended up with us in rescue.

He now has a home with me, and for the first time, is coming out when another person is in the room, for some play. (He hid in his cave for months after I got him) He has gone from a hostile being who trusted to no one and nothing, to a Kitty who knows how to love. And Play.

Here's another...

Early Generation Bengals take a lot of special care. They are closer to the ALC (Asian Leopard Cat) If you decide to adopt a Bengal thru Great Lakes Bengal Rescue or another rescue, you will not be getting an early generation Kitty. You will be getting an F4 (considered a domestic cat) or higher.

They have all the spots, energy, and intelligence and beauty of their earlier Gen cousins, but without the problems sometimes associated with the Early Gen guys. EG Kitties need to be with people who know what they are getting, AND what they are doing once they have them.

If you understand Bengals (And I am happy to help, point you at websites, talk, anything) pretty much any cat lover will do just fine with a Bengal.

They have a way of getting into your heart.

And one more...

It was our own Cat Mihos (Kitty, @neverwear, @furrytigerkitty) Boss's other Assistant and my dear friend who took these, first ever Magic vids.

They make me nearly cry, thinking how far Magic has come. No one wanted him. He loved no one, and no one loved him. He ended up at a shelter who would not take him, because he was not adoptable. He had no chance they said.

Guess they were wrong.

Love ad Magic,

Hair! Pianos! And Movies!

Here you go, Little Greedy Fiends, Me in a Scarf, with Hair!Taken, as all photos and movies were tonight, by Cat Mihos, a most patient Friend, and brilliant photographer. She can SHOOT me! (I love this shot! First time I ever posed, sans clothes, if you see what I mean)

Here's one from the back. The colour is Deadly Nightshade, with several shades of real human hair extensions. Hugely expensive, but so way well worth it. I feel like I have the hair I always wanted, was meant to have, and got cheated out of by a genetic lottery.

And onto some movies....Here's the new Piano. My real estate lady who sold me the Spooky House (and hadn't been back since. Heh. She was, eh, surprised, to say the least.) had wanted to give it to me since then, but we never got around to it. By a strange coincidence she is also the person who sold Boss HIS house here many years ago, which I didn't know when I hired her.

By a Stranger coincidence she is also my Bandmate Paul's Sisters, Husbands Mother. Small world, eh?

Well, she brought it over, and Woodsman Hans and two of My Lady's minion's managed to move it in. I thought it might go nicely upstairs, but was over-ruled on that one. Pianos are HEAVY.

It's very old and needs some work, and then I need to learn how to play, but hey, what's a few obstacles? I love it.

Here's a wee movie of the new Romance Room with some Madam Mim....

And I couldn't help but notice some of you were impressed with Nora, the Piano Playing Cat on You Tube. Heh. Boring. I happen to know that Nora has been practicing a long time, and has had a lot of lessons.

Venus, on the other hand, has had the piano for barely 24 hours.

Freaky Venus Gets It.

New Hair, Bengal Games, a Kitty and a Piano....

You Do Not want to ask exactly what this Bengal Game is or how Freaky Venus ended up like this. Venus loves Sweater Days, as she can Attack. Very considerate of her, actually. Much better than bare arms. AH, life with Bengals is not dull. And I wouldn't trade it for all the Mice on the Moon.

Today I get New Hair, Kitty and a Piano! Not often I can say that. Or, well, ever really. Just the way it worked out. It's a very old Piano, and I will tell you the story of how I ended up getting a piano brought to me once I have pictures of it, where it is going to reside. Where ever that is going to be. Once we get it into the Spooky House. How ever we are going to do that.

Details, I say.

Now I just need to learn to PLAY keyboards. My head is backwards. String things, I can play, guitar, violin, mando, but keyboards are flipped. My next door neighbor is a piano teacher. She will teach me. I think my Boss's Girlfriend plays some too. (I slay myself) It's early, indulge me.

And Kitty is coming, which always makes me happy. Having another Assistant in the house is never a bad plan. And we have a lot of fun. I miss her when she is off on tours. Hoping she will bring some Kylie pictures for us (remember her?), as well as take some more, of all the Bengals.

And quite possibly of my New Hair. This hair MAY be different. MIGHT not be purple anymore. Not sure yet. I have 2 hours and 55 minutes to figure that out.

And I to figure out where the Piano is going to go.

I'll leave you with Mim getting on on the Bengal Games...

Love and Pianos,

Thwarting Winter...

Is everyone having weird dreams lately? My are strange and stressed, and I tend to be very glad to wake, tho tired. Changing season's? What's UP with this?

Home for a bit with some very irritated Bengals. Stayed at work last night with the Mads (Always lovely, got to see a Harry Potter movie. Did you all know that Serious Black is a character in this? I just thought it was a really cool name for a cat! Is that Wendy's? Who knew!?!) but anyway, did not come HOME and they were left with ONLY dry food for the night.

I believe they have put in a call to the Animal Police, to report this horrible abuse. Venus won't leave my side. And Magic yowls and pees. Sigh.

As you know, November is the start of the Dreaded Calender Parking here in my town. It has nothing to do with SNOW, November to April, one parks on the opposite side of the street as the house numbers. On even days, one parks on the odd side, and on odd, on the even. It is only in effect from 2AM to 6AM, hence the night before thing.

Get it? I don't much either. Those that plow do not PLOW between 2AM and 6AM, but those that ticket are out in full force.

This year tho, I have thwarted them. My problem is my driveway is too steep to get up in the winter. Doesn't make trash day any fun wither when the snow gets up over a foot. SO I have hired a Personal Plow to come over when it snows and plow the thing for me, on the theory that it will end up costing about the same, what with all those tickets. Might as well support them, rather than the city.

Of course, the way my drive is, my Personal Plower says he needs to remove a bunch of rock, so the middle is not higher than the edges. Winter is not cheap, but I will be able to park in my driveway and get my trash out. (Got to be dead embarrassing by last spring...)

That's my big news. Hoping for a ride today, and a visit with Illicit Affair, but we'll have to see how work pans out.

At any rate it is not snowing.

Love and Winter,

My Illicet Affair....

The first thing I need to make clear in this Horsie Post is that, yes, as some of you have commented, Illicit Affair IS thin and not looking his best. He was injured some months ago, and only recently acquired by HorseTrainer Mel.

His back was hurt, but he is getting the best care from not only Mel, but Vet and Horse Chiropractor (Who knew?) and he is expected to make a full recovery. He gets lots of arena work on the floor, but no one is currently riding him.

Horsetrainer Mel (@melhorsetrainer on Twitter) has been my friend for a LOT of years. I've gone in and out of riding, and followed her from Stable to Stable, finally ending up with her at her current place, which I must say is the BEST ever. I love the people there. No Snoots, which, as anyone who has been around show horses know, is a hazard of the trade. At this Stable, there is no attitude, if you are kind and love horses, you're in.

Mel is one of the people in this world who has found out EXACTLY what she is meant to be doing, and is doing it. Like Boss with writing, or AFP with music. There simply isn't any other option. She's that good, REALLY that good and the horses she owns, and the ones she trains kind of won the Horsie Lottery.

I should mention too, that I don't own my horses, they are all hers. They come to her. People give them to her, so they will have a good home and care. I pay a lease fee monthly, and ride whomever Mel feels I am ready for. She has taught me everything I know. I've wanted to ride since I knew there were horses, and never had a chance before I met her.

I've been thru a few horses now, with her, especially this past year. I've been fond of them, I love riding, being around horses, stables, and the people, but I always had this nagging feeling that I wasn't connected with them. The horses, not the people. I didn't LOVE them or feel the passion that horses people feel for their special horses. Always sort of had the thought that they were nice, but they sure as heck weren't BENGALS, and didn't have that same depth of feeling or communication.

Until I met this guy.

First horse I have LOVED. No idea why, start a few weeks ago. Noticed him right away. He noticed me. He comes right up to me when I go to the pasture for Anna Montana, my current horse. He tells me things. Not kidding. About how he is feeling. What's going on. That he is really happy to see me. I don't know if it is HIM and he is like that with everyone or not, but it got my heart. HE got into my heart. There's a spirit to him I haven't felt before.

His call name is, sadly, Spot. I've already told Mel that NEEDS to be changed, and she needs to pick out something better. I can't be in love with a horse called SPOT. It's NOT him. Like Bengal Luka, (Formerly Lear) wrong name.

He can't be rode yet, and certainly when he can be rode, it will need to be with someone a lot better than me, (and lighter, talk about diet INCENTIVE) to start with.

Doesn't change anything.

The heart knows. And I sure do love this horse.

Surviving a Horror Movie....

My friend Elyse, publicist from Harper Collins and all around COOL women, mentioned on Twitter tonight that all the lights on her floor had gone off, and was it ok to go home now....??

I said I was sure it was fine UNLESS she was in a horror movie. Maddy and I had been talking just then, (while watching JAWS which she had never seen, and I can't recall ever seeing,) about who was going to make it, and who was NOT thru the Horror Movie.

I told her there were RULES for this sort of thing, and she should learn them. They are all over the internet, I found this site and culled these from HERE but they are all over. Google "Rules for Surviving a Horror Movie" There are a LOT more out there....

I didn't make them up, so please don't attribute them to me, if you haven't seen these before. I just thought we should remind ourselves, in case we ever find ourselves in Elyse's position, or in a Horror Movie of our own......

When it appears you have killed the monster, NEVER check to see if it's really dead.

Never read a book of demon summoning aloud, even as a joke.

Do not go search for something in the basement, especially if the power has just gone out.

If your children speak to you in Latin or any other language which they should not speak, or if they speak to you using a voice which is not their own, shoot them immediately. It will save you the grief in the long run. *NOTE* It will probably take several rounds to kill them, so be prepared.

As a general rule, don't solve puzzles that open portals to Hell.

Never stand in, on, above, below, beside or anywhere near a grave, tomb, crypt, mausoleum or any other house of the dead.

If appliances start operating by themselves, move out.

If you find a town which looks deserted, it's probably for a good reason. Take the hint and stay away.

Do not fool around with recombinant DNA technology unless you're sure you know what you are doing.

If you're running away from the monster, expect to trip or fall down at least twice, more if you are of the female persuasion. Also note that despite the fact that you are running and the monster is merely shambling along, it's still moving fast enough to catch up with you.

If your companions suddenly begin to exhibit uncharacteristic behavior such as hissing, developing a fascination with blood, glowing eyes, foaming at the mouth and increasing hairiness, get away from them as fast as possible.

If your car runs out of gas late at night, do not go to the nearby deserted looking house to call for help. Likewise if your car has broken down, and the only refuge for miles is that creepy old mansion/castle on the hill. Stay in the car.

Listen closely to the soundtrack and pay attention to the audience. They are usually far more intelligent than you could ever hope to be.

Never listen to music that contains staccato shrieking violins.

If you are a woman, never strip and take a shower in slow motion.

Do not keep all your sharpened kitchen knives in one of those wooden block thingies on your worksurface.

When you are searching a house because you think there is something dangerous there, turn on the damn lights!

Never back out of one room into another without looking. It's always behind you.

If you are being chased, never lean against the wall when you think you lost him. He'll just pop through and kill you.

If you are at your Senior prom, and the school reject has just won prom queen, slowly back away and run for the exit. All hell is about to break loose.

If you are a stoner among other stoners, be the quiet one or the lovable one. All the other stoners will be killed.

If you sense something is behind you, don't bother turning around to check. Just run.

If you ever visit some distant planet and find objects that look like eggs, LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!

If you are trapped in a house surrounded by demons, making coffee will not help anyone.

Clowns never have, nor will they ever be helpful to hang around while in a horror movie. As harmless as the might seem, they WILL kill you once you let your guard down.

Never go back for anything you lost.

Never buy your kid a toy that talks back.

Remember: Just say "NO" to human blood.

If the young girls of the neighborhood start singing songs about boogeymen while jumping rope, consider moving.

If you are running away from the killer/monster, don't even try to start the car. It doesn't matter if the car is brand new, it won't start.

If you hear a strange noise coming from upstairs that sounds similar to, oh let's say a severed head falling to the floor, don't go trying to find out what it is.

When battling zombies, always sever their head or shoot them in the brain. If you they still want to eat you after that, just surrender. There's no hope for you anyway.

Don't spend a lot of time in houses decorated with an excessive amount of medivel weaponry. It will be used eventually.

If a giant shark is chasing your family, do not go swimming. Actually, stay away from the water, period.

If the movie is directed by someone named Wes Craven or John Carpenter, you're pretty much screwed.

If you DO happen to get killed, make sure it's in a cheap low-budget gore-fest with no plot, so you can come back and kick ass, no explanation needed.

CD's in the Mail.....

First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who donated in the Any Amount Any Cd's Bengal Rescue Effort a couple of weeks ago. We saved them, paid some vet bills and WE MADE A DIFFERENCE. The last of the cd's went off today, so if you haven't got yours yet, watch the mail!

If you get it, or have gotten it, and you open it and think "WHAT THE HECK IS THIS CD??? I DIDN'T WANT THIS ONE!!!". Don't panic, just drop me a note and say "Dear Overworked Assistant, you seem to have made a small error in my cd, I wanted a different one, or more of them, or less, or whatever your issue is, I am happy to listen and help. Truly. I want you to be happy. And help me again with rescuing Bengals.

Because it is the most important thing I do. And I can't do it alone.

We urgently need NOW in fact, a foster home or forever home in a NW suburb of Chicago, or Milwaukee, for a lovely, no problems or issues Bengal Boy who needs a home. Any takers out there? Come on, you know you want to!

The first picture at the top is Magic and Mim out on his porch. I seems to have accidentally taken something very like a proper arty picture there. Not sure it could happen again.

Here's Venus looking smug, which is something she does very well. I think it is important if we do a post like the last one which was ALL the Royals, to include some Venus and Mim. You DO NOT want Bengals mad at you for any reason, screen time being as important as anything.

FINALLY may be over my cold here. I called the Gigs this weekend DEATH ROCK, as that was what it felt like. Was really glad Danguy was house guesting with us and could do the drive back for me. Very certain I would not have enjoyed that either alone or doing the driving. Danguy rocks on a lot of levels, you know.

I did end up deciding to quit smoking, since I don't smoke sick, it seemed like a Why Not sort of moment. I am not sure I can take a lot of credit for it tho. I was sick the first few days, and I only smoked American Spirit, which is just tobacco, so I didn't have the addicted to the chemical thing most people have to go thru as well, and I was the sort of smoker who didn't NEED to have cigs all the time. Liked it, but if I couldn't it didn't bother me.

I also was a non-smoker for the 10 years until about 3-4 years ago when things got a little stressful, and I had a moment where I started again, so it hasn't been very long.

I banned smoking from home and car, and mornings, and work. If I really want one in the evening, fine, I can go out and have one outside, doing nothing else. I think the NEVER SMOKE AGAIN cold turkey method is setting yourself up for failure. Doesn't work, and you'd just panic. Now I don't mind it because if I need to, fine, have one.

Then stop. I like it. Getting more working out done too..

MIGHT get fit.

And that would be lovely.

When a Lear is Not a Lear....

We haven't checked in with the Royals for a while, and we do have some news. Lear has Made it very clear his name is NOT, as thought, King Lear the Huge, but rather, "Luka". Kid you not. He never answered to Lear, and ignored it completely, but the other night I accidentally called him Luka, and he sat straight up, mewed and came running. I've kept addressing him as Luka, and he has kept answering to it.

Luka. Who knew? It's pretty clear. They tell us, but it ought to be known I sure didn't pick it.

See? TELL me he ever did THIS when his name was Lear! Now, as Luka, he feels like himself, and feels free to express his innermost feelings.

This is Luka feeling like Salvador Dali.

Here is Luka on his Settee, looking for Steak. Luka likes steak. Luka likes most things that can be eaten, in fact. Steak tho, rules. We play Steak Toss every night before bed. I lie in bed and frantically throw bits of steak across the room, where he chases them down, kills them, and comes looking for more. Dangerous game for both me and the steak.

Little Queen Mab doesn't much like her name either. She is a little more reserved tho, and it is hard to tell exactly. I've been calling her "Mabinohnya" or Mabdolina" both of which make her happier than Mab, but we will have to see what develops.

Here is Luka blissing out eating steak from my hand. He is LEARNING about claws when he does this.

I think what is amazing about Luka, who s an early generation, F2, Bengal, is how very far he has come. Many of the early gen kitties cannot re-bond, and he had a bit of a bad time in the wrong homes on the way to me. He can purr now, and act silly. His 6:00am morning routine slays me every day. (They really DO dig to China in their litter boxes.) I've moved the big fountain up to the new Bathroom (which is almost done now,) and when he jumps in bed for the morning Head Butt, all his feet are wet.

Which is so much nicer than it sounds.

I am glad he is with me. And I love it that we know his name now. Or at least what he would like to be called.

Because we never do know their REAL names, now do we?

Love and Luka,

My New Ringsongs and Death Rock....

Fun show last night, except for the being really sick part. Other than that, it rocked.

Off shortly with Danguy for the show again tonight, which, I am hoping, rocks yet again. I am less sick, stopped at work on the way home last night and got strange and wonderful Chinese Things For Colds, which made a lot of difference.

Right now, I think thinking nap, but by the time we get there, I will be ready, and will no doubt forget this illness and all the illness of this world for that matter. Oh, my yes. There will be rock. I really, really hope you are coming down. Yes, you.

Danguy made my new Blackberry talk to my Itunes today, and so now everyone, or at any rate, the people who call me most, in my phonebook, all have their very own ringsongs, which is the BEST....

For a fun family oriented Saturday night activity, if you are not amongst those going out to rock, try and guess the songs....

Bandmate Paul...White Stripes

Kitty...........Duran Duran

Adam/Best Stemple...Tim Malloys

Mailbag and Question Night.....

Where, oh where did you come by the gentle/person skelly of the bath? I've been hoping to have one present itself to me, in my far-too-frequent ramblings in odd shops, but thus far, no luck.

My friend Beth, who is AFP's amazing assistant heard I wanted one, and she had an extra.

With what musician or group would you love to jam?

Melissa Etheridge, hands down.

Oh, I have a Quiche question: Do you like Star Trek?

Well, I don't DISLIKE it. I don't really watch it tho.

What cell phone are you using these days?

Blackberry Curve. Someday I will learn how to make it play music for my ringtones.

How would you have fixed Underworld: Rise of the Lycans?

I would have stuck to the story as it was laid out in the first two movies. And let Viktor be a real character.

Where would you like to see the Underworld franchise go from here?

Well, I am all for a fourth, depending on who writes, directs and stars. They certainly left it hanging. I will miss Lucian and the Elders tho.

Do you need anyone to rake leaves at Spooky House, or is that a service provided by Merry Housekeeper and/or Spooky Daughter?

What do you mean Rake Leaves? I leave them. They are leaves. Duh.

What albums do you have more or less completely memorized?

Currently Lady Gaga. And all of the Oysterband.

What's for dinner?

Well, it might be a lot of things. Can't say for sure at this point. Is tea and cookies dinner?

What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

You obviously have me confused with the Birdchick, who COULD tel you that.

What is your favourite Bengal rescue story?

Magic, my F1. He had been thru several homes, getting further down each time, and more withdrawn, someone declawd ALL his paws. His last owner had no idea what he was and couldn't handle him and took him to a shelter, who said they could not take him and would have to kill him, if we didn't help. I drove 5 hours across the state and got him. He's far from ok, but his eyes have wonder in them now, and not hate and fear. THAT is why I do this.

does @neilhimself ever make you do anything embarrassing like take his boxers to be dry-cleaned?

I have worked for him for 17 years, and he doesn't MAKE me do anything. My job is whatever needs to be done. I would question his thoughts tho, on that one. He would probably have a good reason.

What was the funniest thing that happened while your boss was gone?

Jonathon Coulton, Paul and Storm coming for a visit.Having them visit is just like their shows, only it never stops and they don't sing. Much.

How did you get your job with Mr. Gaiman?

I put his library on his shelves when he moved here 17 years ago and figured I'd stay until everything got done. It's not.

Is it written anywhere how you got into bengals and rescuing them?

I just loved the look of them, and what I read of them, and I had never bought a cat before, and never for that kind of $$. I had just got my own house and really wanted two. Them my Boss found the Bengal Rescue site and I found out how many needed homes and help, and I wanted to do all that I could.

I can't regret Venus and Mim, but if I'd have known about rescue first, I would have gone that route.

Is Neilhimself going to take a picture of you with the LOMO camera?

Zombie apocalypse, you're in a mall. Pick your weapon, person (alive or dead), and song blasting over the PA system.

Hmm, good one. Barracuda, by Heart. Obviously. Mace. The metal thing, not the spray. And I am pretty sure I'd want Woodsman Hans. The man knows more about Zombies, Zombie Movies and how to survive them than anyone I have ever known.

When is the video crew coming to shoot the Spooky House Show?

We aren't shooting my show HERE! I've had film crews out before, if only for a day, it's a lot of fun yes, but not something you'd want around week after week.

Can you overindulge a cat?

Uh, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What kind of sheets do you like?

Clean. And expensive. I am really a snob that way. And I love being in bed.

That came out weird, but true....So true.

Thanks everyone! This was way fun! And now you know...

Don't you?

Haunted Me Some House and Got Another Skellie....

First of all Pics, the Coolest Halloween Giftie ever from Dan Guy! Who knew someone makes these???? I think it might be a cat. Not sure tho, it didn't come with anything but itself. At any rate, I love it! Spooky House will love it! Thank you Dan Guy! (Who, it is rumored, is coming to the Paul and Lorraine Shows at Charlie's next weekend...)

These next are photos from our Haunted House, which was more fun than you can know. We had a Mad Scientist Room, Vampire Room, Freaky Scary Room and the Witch Room (mine) I don't take the best of all pictures, sadly, and one doesn't have much TIME when Haunting Things.

I didn't have to buy much (ok, anything) for the Witch Room, just sort of raided the Spooky House. Didn't deplete it much. (Or at all)

Here is Boss's Rabbit. Or Bunny. Hard to say. Sure does LOOK cute, but for the longest time, we got Bunnies every month, that weren't exactly, well, what they seemed. Very strange they were. This one opens up to have Fangs. Creature-creature was made by the same artist, I would have brought her too, but she is fragile these days. I will try and find the name of the artist, as she is really good.

I think the point of this next picture is that Web is REALLY hard to string up all over the place. Unless you are a Spider. I used a staple gun.

Love and Happy Haunting, All,
